Disappointing. Ordered 2 regular pieces of fish, clearly one was regular, one was mini. Different sizes, different weights. The mini one also tasted old - considering chippy's usually use frozen at sea fillets, it's got to be pretty old to start tasting that way. Asked for cod but more likely haddock. Chips were ok - slightly spoilt at home where they cook in beef dripping. Battered sausage was the high point. The till server was kind and nice service. The cook was dismissive and dishonest when I questioned the size difference. I'd already overheard her checking it was mini fillets initially so I assume she put one in then put in a regular and tried to pass it off.

Looks better from the outside. A bit unprepossessing on the inside. No need to book though. Nice moules frites. Depressingly they didn't know where the mussels were from- they are cultivated in the Menai trait and the Conwy estuary, but these could have been from anywhere. Never mind. Good and cheap and a nice bottle of inexpensive Rueda.

Last minute booking which the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Our first time here and we were completely wowed on every front. … amazing cocktails, delicious food where every element was to the highest standard, excellent service from the friendly and efficient staff on the night. It was a WOW experience from start to finish and our only regret is that we don’t live near to make it here regularly!!

Great little fish shop. The option to sit in was greatly appreciated on a cold and wet, February afternoon. The gentleman taking the orders was incredibly friendly and helpful. I have to avoid certain ingredients due to my daughter's intolerances, but nothing was too much bother for him. When he realised I couldn't have the battered or breaded fish he made up a rice flour one for me. Exceptional service and all of us really enjoyed our food. If we're ever in Barmouth again we will be back.

We grabbed a takeaway. We were absolutely gutted that they had run out of the spicy kelp so we couldn't order any. (But it means we will have to come back again which is a bonus) The food was amazing. Crispy fresh batter on the cod. Lovely chips. Curry sauce was yummy!

This is perhaps not the most unbiased review ever as I visited after a very long day walking the Glyderau. However, the fish and chips certainly hit the spot. The staff were friendly too. All told, a very good decision to eat from here.

Popped in here the other evening while staying in a nearby holiday rental - I had mini-cod and small chips and my sister had the jumbo sausage and small chips. Luckily due to the time of year it wasn't very busy, so service was prompt and we didn't have to wait long for our food to be freshly cooked. Took it back to our bungalow and enjoyed a delicious chippy tea! Thank you Fairbourne Chippy!
