We called here for a chippy tea for 8 of us, food was good, prices were reasonable and the service was efficient-would recommend and will definitely revisit when in the area

I went here on 16th Aug 2024 on a Friday evening. Big queue outside which went down pretty quickly and the fish and chips were great. Really busy at peak times. Seen some poor / rude reviews about food and staff. I had no concerns. Not expecting staff to come running out to greet you like some seem to expect and when it's really busy the main thing is a streamlined process of cooking and taking orders.

First visit to this chippy whilst away The lady who takes the orders is EXTREMELY RUDE. I ordered 9 mini fish and chips at a cost of £60.10. !!! When she was wrapping them the fryer had only cooked 8 fish. They point blank refused to cut another mini fish declaring we should have come earlier. One of us had to have a sausage!!! Would NOT RECOMMEND ever stepping foot in this shop.

The best darn chips I've ever had! Went twice in 1 day they were so good and we were only in the area for the weekend! Totally worth a 3 hour drive just for these chips!

The worst chippy food I've ever had, was greeted by a female member of staff who was extremely rude started coughing all over the chips and other food we order and didn't even put her hand over her mouth. She was rude to another customer aswell all because they asked for fresh chips as they looked like they were standing for so long. This chippy must me the most vile chippy for food and attitude they do not deserve customers Will never use again even if I was homeless if turn my nose up at the food

Rubbish ,chips were hard and dry, as if they had sat all day and then reheated it was the end of the day maybe would have been ok if we visited earlier

A frosty reception followed by a distinct lack of customer service. We were really looking forward to fish and chips after a day at the beach and a holiday treat but turned out to be a soggy, greasy, stale (chips) let down. Food was not good at all and the worst fish and chips we have had. Would not recommend.

Having read the previous review I wasn’t expecting too much, however what a pleasant surprise! Fish cooked to perfection chips nice and crispy no grease . Excellent portion size I had to share what I couldn’t eat with my very happy Labrador. I’ll certainly make a return visit

Was at nearby Greenacres Caravan site.Tried this fish and chip shop because caravan site chip shop was closed. Really wish I hadn't bothered. The fish and chips were really bad.The chips were greasy and undercooked and fish the same with floury, very soggy batter. I wouldn't recommend this establishment at all.

The the last night of our holiday so we treated ourselves to Fish & Chips. Schooner was a few minutes walk from the house we were staying in so silly not to try it. End of September so only opened for early evening but this also meant all food was freshly cooked for us. 3 adults had a fish each and shared two portions of chips which were more then enough. Would definately go again if in the area.

We tried here due to the good reviews when looking for an evening meal on our holiday and the son requested fish and chips. We ordered two fish, two large chips and a gravy for £22. The fish was thick and a good size but was a little on the dry side and the batter that coated it was soggy and peeling off on the paper, not crispy at all. The chips we nice but more crunchier than others I've had. The gravy was lovely, no complaints. The whole meal was fine, it wasn't bad and filled a hole but I've had better fish and chips before.

Lovely little fish and chip shop local to the caravan site we were on. Food was fresh, hot and really tasty.. especially want you want from a chip shop!

Cracking wee chippy just along from the Greenacres site. Lovely, fresh, hot chips, fish and chicken. It’s very rare that I eat a chippy, but we had 2 in a 10 day holiday from here and they were lovely. Fresh produce, freshly cooked, good sized portions and very good value we thought. Much better than the frozen offerings from the on-site chippy.

Probably the best haddock and chips I've had! Lovely and clean chip shop and a great find and friendly staff.

Excellent quality fish and chips, will definitely return when back in the area! Service was quick and friendly and the lady serving even gave my little one a chocolate egg for Easter!

Nice chips, fish was cooked to order but only a small wait for about 10 mins, fish was a bit on the small side but nicely cooked. Miserable staff.

Had a holiday at Greenacres and used this place repeatedly. Great quality food and in high demand. We were there in July and there was always a queue with about a half hour wait but no one minded . The lady serving always managed a smile despite heatwave and and workload

We had delicious Fish and Chips we sat outside the Fish was delicious Cod and the fish was fresh we enjoyed very much and reasonable priced would 100% recommend

If you are camping at Black Rock Sands Area or staying in that area don't bother dragging yourself to Porthmadog for Fish and Chips as these are just as good. Cash only when I was there. The shop next door has a cash machine. Can get busy.

Spent two summers working in a fish and chip shop in Paignton many years ago, consider myself a minor expert on the subject.Very good quality fish and chips. Fish batter thin, crisp and not greasy. Chips fresh and perfectly cooked. Vegetarian option available.It gets very busy but worth the wait.

Visited while on the nearby caravan site. Bit of a queue and cash only at the time. Had a bit of a wait in the queue and the staff weren't overly friendly but then they seemed mad busy and were visibly efficient. We got fish and chips for a family and they were a decent size portion. Read on reviews they were overpriced but actually cheaper and bigger portions than we get from the ones in our own town. Very tasty and piping hot. No wonder they're busy!

Food is fine and reasonable quality. The lady behind the counter is incredibly rude and speaks to customers as if they were naughty children.

We went to this chippy during a family holiday. You'd think with the number of caravan parks near-by, they'd be in high demand and geared up for rapid service. No. It took about 15 minutes to serve about 6-7 customers in front of us. Not brilliant when you're waiting with a 4-year-old.When we were served, the lady behind the counter wasn't paying attention, so she put salt and vinegar on a portion of fish and chips, after I'd said I didn't want it.That said, the food was very good (if on the expensive side), and there's reasonable parking.

Food is so lovely. Not a fault on the food, so tasty! But the rudeness of the lady who takes orders is absolutely disgraceful a smile would not go a miss or a hello or something welcoming and friendly! I was appalled by the rudeness.

Stood waiting to be served for about 7 minutes, when I was served I was asked “ what are you hoping for “ fish and chips I replied, to be told “ you’ve got no chance” that was it nothing else, I walked out shocked, I will not go back... they do not deserve customers with that attitude...

This is a little gold mine for the owners, close to the beach and caravan sites. The food has always been decent quality but the service is not the best. It would be great if the staff gave a smile and a bit of banter. The speed of service is extremely slow and the only explanation I can see for this is that they serve one at a time rather than take orders and carry on serving whilst waiting on products. The price is average for the location. I’m not vegetarian but they appear to have a veggie sausage option available. The chippy is clean and the staff are sanitising the outdoor area too, they have hand sanitiser on a table outside for public use and there is plenty room to socially distance queue, 3 people at a time are allowed inside.

Quality take out, right by the holiday cottage we rented. Good social distancing queue, very tasty - cash only atm tho, although there’s a handy cash machine in the convenience store next door.

We visited on the first day of opening this year. There were a family already being served when we entered, staff said hello and carried on working. We were asked if we wanted any fish cooked, which we didn’t. The shop was clean, as were the staff, the menu board was large and easy to read with all prices on display. The chips and fish were being freshly cooked.Prices are average.There is a large car park at the rear.The food was hot and tasty, we would visit again.

My family and I often go to Morfa Bychan and will always come here when we do. The food is always lovely, piping hot and great quality.

So, having read previous reviews I was sceptical as seemed overpriced etc...Not sure where other people get fish and chips but I felt this place was reasonable priced and gave massive portions - fish was really tasty and great batter, chips perfectly cooked. No complaints from me. Great chippy tea

We had fish chips and peas, which was very average. Small fish at a cost of £4.50 even the peas were 0.90p. Served without an even hint of a smile. It doesn’t cost anything to be friendly and served with a smile. Won’t be coming back .... the chippy in Tremadog is the best around here.

Called in here as Greenacres a rip of for same food, very good, seats outside, every one enjoyed their food, only down side is the lady who got all on dealing with customers, and no manners

Fish and chips not brilliant but ok if you are hungry and don’t want to go into Porthmadog. The owners not very welcoming unfortunately. A smile goes a long way!

Absolutely delicious food and very reasonably priced! Well worth a stop off on the way back from the beach.

Visited recently our meal did not disappoint fish was decent size along with good portion of chips would definitely use again However I hope we are served by a more pleasant cashier who did not say thank you when handing over our change.

After a busy, hot and super day on a train trip with Welsh Highland railway from Porthmadog this was a great choice for a quick take away supper. Cheery staff on what had been one of the hottest days of the year and could easily had been very fraught. Well cooked and generous portions.

We usually go to Allports for a fish supper but decided to try Schooner and glad we did.The fish batter was light and crispy, chips lovely and freshly cooked and Lovely mushy peas.The total was over £10 less than the Allports bill.We’ve been converted!

Visited here twice over the weekend we was down here, can’t fault nothing. We had haddock and chips both times, I had curry sauce with my mine, spot on !!! Yes it might be a little pricey, but was worth it.

A bit pricey but location good for caravan sites near to Blackrock sands. Fish and chips not as good as Allports on Portmadog town as they cook the fish while you wait.

Been using this chippy for a number of years but had a break. After just returning we had chips fish peas and it was still as nice as i remember Keep up the good work

we called in here on our way to Greenacres Park where we were staying. They cooked our food fresh and it didnt take long. Lovely staff and great fresh cooked haddock and chips.

Shame as we were really looking forward to it, watered down curry sauce and mushy peas (not experienced that before) Fish and chips were bland and had no flavour. Probably watered down vinegar as couldn’t taste either. Also service rude. Go into Porthmadog instead and save your money

I promised I wouldn't leave a (bad) review because I didn't have any Internet, however, I have found some Internet so here goes... I am only on an overnight visit to the area but if I visit again we will most certainly visit you again. Lovely friendly people but the most important thing is the food. This is a real good old fashioned fish and chip shop, the fish is so beautifully cooked as are the chips, I would however advise people to have the mini fish and chips, if you go for the full size portion you will need a huge appetite, the staff here also understand what "plenty of salt and vinegar" means and they were perfectly seasoned. Thanks to the three of you, lovely meal, great service

We bought tea for ten people (four adults and six children) here last week. The meals were the usual mixture for the different ages of people in the group, fish jumbo sausage, chicken nuggets all with chips, gravy etc. Everything was eaten, no waste whatsoever and with children ranging from three to fourteen that tells me tea was enjoyed by everyone. We have bought from this shop many times in the past and always been happy with the food and the service.

We recently stayed at Greenacres and had 2 chippy teas while there.. this one was the lesser of the 2 but both were disappointing....fish was small and pretty tasteless...chips were also a small portion even though ordered large portion for £3.70 (way over priced) on the soggy side! Compared to what I can get at my local chippy in the Midlands for the same price this was poor for a seaside location...wont be visiting again.

Whenever we have a ‘chippy tea’ it always results in disappointment, soggy batter, lukewarm orange chips usually served with a scowl, however, a trip to the Schooner saw us all enthralling about the golden fluffy chips and crispy battered fish. Excellent value for money and promptly served by a friendly efficient lady. So good that we’re having them twice in a week!!!

anythink you eat here is fresh and tasty. great friendly staff . amazingly clean . we visit here a lot when holidaying at greenacres next door.

Every time we stay at greenacres we always come here as it's much nicer than the camps. All freshly made and lovely people

Hubby and I went here on a sunny Tuesday lunchtime. We managed to park right outside by the Spar Shop (although there is a large car park at the rear). We looked at the menu leaflet outside (hygiene rating of 5). Hubby chose standard chips & jumbo sausage and I opted for standard chips & gravy. The small interior had an appropriate seaside theme. I asked the lady serving if they sold baked beans but she said NO? (don't quite understand the reason for this as beans are popular with children, cheap, nutritious and widely available). The bill came to £6.10 (cash only payments accepted). We thought this was a bit over-priced for the small portions. We sat on the table outside and ate them in the sea breeze. Hubby said his meal was fine and I liked the thick gravy which had been spooned over the top of mine. We placed our empty packaging in the bin provided and then went a walk on Black Rock Sands (see separate review).

If you fancy a chippy dinner or tea make sure you pay this one a visit. 10 out of 10 for quality and taste and good value . The portions are adequate they don't rip you off with small portions and there's plenty of choice in meal's , the fish taste freshly court . I hope it's still there next year when I return.

We didn't want to pay the prices on greenacres so we went to this chippy, I'm sorry it was awful, the fish was undercooked and the chips were like mush none of us could eat it, very reasonable prices though, but not for us. Would not go back.

Llegó al norte de Gales en junio tuvimos un par de sitios encantadores en pescado aquí y patatas fritas eran fabulosos, mucho mejor que la caravana de greenacres chips.

Had fish and chips from here whilst staying at the local Haven site.They were not the best I am afraid! The fish although cooked to order was ok although very greasy the chips however were the worst I have ever had all stuck together and looked like they had been cooked in the oil that was about 6 months old! I would recommend giving them a miss if I was you

had fish and chips the first night awful!!! fish barely cooked, a good vet could have revived it!, batter flat and swimming in grease couldn't eat it

Another visit here after sampling last year, not let down again. Good portions, lovely fish and chips and good children's meals, not cheap........ but is anything by the seaside, don't be silly people, just pay up and enjoy.

Visiting friends at their caravan just down the road, we called in for traditional fish, chip and mushy peas for our friday tea. Fish was good, plenty of chips and the peas complemented.

Well worth a visit. We have food every other Friday and gave big order and all well pleased with choices. Very handy spit can also sit out and bargain booze next door.

If your staying at haven or surrounding caravan parks don't bother with there onsite chippy go here 100% better fresher and half the price the fish was fantastic

Completely ripped me off! Charged me over £5 for sausage chips and gravy with mushy peas. How is that more expensive than acampi and chips? Not sure if she was just confused as she charged me the same as the person before me.

Having read the reviews when researching chippies, we called in for a takeaway after a long bike ride and were taking them back to the caravan site we were staying at for the week.We each had a cod and chips, which were of a good portion size with crisp batter and tasty chips. The lady serving was very pleasant and helpful in packing them to fit in our bike bag.We'd go there again.

Much nicer than the chippy on Greenacres site. Very reasonably priced and very good portions. Service very slow and you wait a long time. Maybe need to pre-empt busier times more and just keep cooking! Curry sauce could be spicier. Will definitely use again. We ordered 6 portions of fish and chips along with currries gravy and peas.

Nice fish and chips, much cheaper than the chipshop on the Haven campsite. The breadcakes were a little doughy and very floury, but overall a good little find.

Decent chips . Good size portions ..fish cooked to perfection.. enjoyed tea on black Rock Sands.. far better than the crap served up at Green acres where we stayed.

Who doesn't love a good fish and chips now and again? Well i do this place has fantastic chips along with fresh and tasty fish. A lovely cafe with loads to offer next to a beautiful beach and a holiday resort visiting this place is a defo recommendation for everyone

There aren't many places to eat in Morfa Bychan so this chip shop gets busy in the evenings. We only went in because the queue had gone but we enjoyed the fish and chips so much we went back the next day. There is a park just down the road if you have children and want to eat the meal outside in a safe place as the road gets busy and the drivers don't stick to the highway code.

We tried here after reading the poor comments about the chippy onsite at Green Acres where we were stopping. We arrived early over the bank holiday but weren't made to wait our order was taken & we sat outside to wait for our order. Although the staff didn't seem very welcoming or happy . The food was excellent. Portion sizes were great & the fish & chicken breast were cooked to perfection.

We stayed at Greenacres Haven. The chippy there is expensive, measly portions and not that tasty. Whereas we found the prices here a bit steep the food was delicious. It took us just 5 mins to stroll there from the caravan park.Although August it closed at 8pm !!!! We made it just in time and ate outside at a table. We saw lots of customers turned away between 7.50pm and 8pm ... not sure they want the business???

Good value for money + close to greenacres haven Blackrock Sands. Wouldn't say it was service with a smile as our order was taken then they stood with their back to us as the chips cooked but hey ho the food tasted good.

6 of us went for something cheap and cheerful for tea. Just a generally good chippy and the staff are very nice and the food is very cheap with huge portions.

People are of course entitled to their opinion and it's a shame some say they've had a bad experience, but I have to say my family had some of the best fish and chips around. Little bit of a wait, but doesn't that tell you something, and frankly I'd rather wait for fresh food. The chips were like any normal local chip and the fish stunninglyWell cooked. Forget the over priced camp sites and support the local business!!!

Was here on holiday, really enjoyed our pie and chips really hot, not too greasy and reasonable prices too... great tea.

If there's one thing I hate that is giving bad reviews, because someone has taken their time and money to invest in a business venture that will hopefully be a successful means of support for them. However, there is trying your best to satisfy your customers, and not bothering to try at all, and going by the taste of the chips in this place, I'd definitely have to conclude that the latter is their option. I have never in my life tasted chips like these. It wasn't burnt oil tasting, perhaps a combination of wrong potatoes and old oil, but they were disgusting. The fish wasn't too bad, but to be honest, I've had better in the west midlands for much less given the size. When we walked in to begin with, they informed us that they'd have to cook fresh fish. That's fine we said, wondering what was wrong with the ones in the display cabinet. After waiting a while, (cooking a cheese burger at the side of the shop), they returned and served us the fish from the cabinet. I was puzzled now, why couldn't they have done that to begin with I thought? All in all, not a good experience, the food certainly isn't cheap, and I wouldn't recommend that place to friends or family, other than stay away.

The reviews below noted that this chip shop had closed for a time, but it has reopened - this week it seems - and serving great fish and chips. Haddock was the fresh fish on offer when I visited, and I got a sensible sized portion of fish and chips served in a lidded polystyrene tray, with no wait whatsoever. Got it back home, added my own peas, and tucked in. Delicious.

We used this shop a few times in the last couple of years and were more than pleased with the freshly cooked food and service . Sadly it is now closed and up for sale as we found out whilst on a day trip last weekend .
