First time of using, needed chips for 7 adults and two children (the lads estimated 4xlarge portions - JUST RIGHT) - Small Cod and chips, large battered sausage and a curry sauce. Served by four very smartly dressed young men, very efficient, very quick, and very delicious!! Will definitely use next time!

We were in the area so popped in here for cod and chips. Really nice piece of cod and the chips were equally as good.

Popped in for a bit of lunch, afraid the chips were not very good at all. Small chips with a lot of scraps. A little greasy and quite a few eyes and scraggly bits.

Very tasty food . Owners and staff are always welcoming and friendly. I stop here every week and have never been disappointed.

So disappointed. We paid £12 for two pieces of fish that were inedible!! All batter, that was brown, and a tiny bit of thin fish. Chips were OK. Easy changes to make, but improvement needed.

Under average Fish and Chips. Chips looked and tasted that they've been fried 2 or 3 times and in dirty/old cooking oil. Will probably go further a field next time into Barmouth for a fish and chip supper. Disappointing really and hope for the town that they improve the quality soon.

Usually very nice well cooked food. Went in lunchtime a couple of weeks ago the tasted a lot better than it looked. The chips were shocking, just leftover, dried up waste that looked and tasted like they should've been binned before they opened. Out of a large bag we probably found 10 edible chips.

Nice chicken and mushroom pie, they nuked it, but it was edible. It's a rare thing when it's been near a microwave.

3 of us had fish chips and peas, 3 of us enjoyed our food I dont know what you do to the mushy peas, but they was so tasty loved them, everything else was all good thank you

Constructive criticism so please take it as such. For goodness sake, get your act together. You're the only chippy in dolgellau now so you should be making a killing. We have eaten from here during the summer, not as often as we would have done due to the disappointment of the food. No problems on previous ownership as it was always good. Your chips were lifeless, the fish not fresh white and the batter far too thick and chewy. Change your oil more often, its not rocket science. It says a lot that we prefer going to barmouth now and the carousel where they know how to make a good fish and chip supper and care about their produce. Rant over but please.... its so easy to put right!

Best fish (chips were tasty) that I've ever had, and we've had fish and chips twice at 'the shed' at Porthgain by the Blue lagoon Pembroke, YOUR fish and batter was much better, first class, not greasy or slimy in the slightest, batter was the best! lovely crumbly clean tasting fish! The large cod was nice. But the chips omg. Please sort your chips out. They looked like left overs. Dry and crunchy like scapppings. Alot of the chips had a little bit of potato or none at all.

Awful chippy! One of the worst I've had. Chips were so dry and tasteless, like they had been sat since lunch time!! The fish was so overcooked, the batter was disgusting! Such a shame, this chippy used be be great. Even the sausages weren't nice....how can you get them wrong? What a waste of 32 pound!!!

I live fairly locally and we won't go here. Chips are thin, soggy, VERY greasy as well as being full of eyes. I assume cheap old potatoes

very disappointing, got a bag of chips and the portion size was very bad, portion size was so small I had to get a McDonald’s after it never in my life have I seen a chipper hand out such small portion of chips I wouldn’t bother goin there again

Due to a change in plan we went into Dolgellau for fish and chips and certainly weren't disappointed. Although there was a bit of a wait - everyone else seemed to have the same idea - it was all freshly cooked, nice chips and excellent cod with good sized portions plus not badly priced.

Amazon Staff and even better fish and chips. Came for bank holiday and needed up coming back everyday !

Middle of the road chippy. Looks like this guy needs some older experienced staff on that don’t get so flustered when it’s busy. Have had better for a couple quid cheaper. Never seen such small curry pots and not many chips with ya fish. Last resort really when no other option takes ya fancy.

We waited 30 minutes in the street outside for our order - fortunately it wasn’t raining . There were only two people working. One was packing food AND handling money- didn’t feel COVID safe to me. The food was was undercooked and anaemic. Chips were greasy and again under cooked - not sure how they got their better reviews. Also they say they are open 5-8 pm, but they stop taking orders at 7.30 pm - guess they expect to make people wait 30 minutes for their orders every night!!

We found this fish & Chip shop using Google so wanted to thank Google a& to post a great review for the Cosy Takeaway in Dolgellau. We had 'fish chips and mushy peas. Quick friendly service, good menu. Quite hidden from the high street and has a for sale sign on it. I think position & Covid is making things tough for them. Give them your custom, you won't be disappointed.

The batter was much too thick and undercooked. The chips the same. We had to wait 30 mins so expected a lot better. Very Disappointed.

Just popped down for a takeaway as last day of hol. Was quite busy for a Thursday, but didn’t take long from order to collection. Delicious cod & chips and still piping hot when we got home.

Popular, busy Fish and Chip Shop. Customers were following Social Distancing by going in placing order and waiting outside. Orders were cooked fresh and our Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas were well worth the wait. Batter was crispy and not greasy at all. Chips were golden, slightly crispy on outside, buttery and fluffy on inside with no bad bits or eyes. Mushy Peas were delish. All in all the best Fish and Chips we've had in both England and Wales. Absolutely Excellent with friendly banter between customers and staff. A*****

Excellent chippy but you might have to wait.

Hot and freshly cooked with friendly staff. The batter was thin and crispy the fish was moist and and well cooked. Prices were on a par with other outlets. Nice to see that it came in a cardboard box and not a polystyrene one.

Barely three stars. Food was great, which I suppose is the main thing. But service more than a bit chaotic on a Friday night. A couple of mistakes as a result. In fairness, it got the job done, but was more than a bit of an effort.

The best battered fish my husband and I have ever had. The gravy was also thick and rich. Amazing food, and the staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming.

This is a brilliant Fish and Chip shop, do not pass it by! All the food is made to order and of the highest quality, it is spotless and with very friendly staff. Please take the time to enjoy their food, you won't be dissapointed.

We were slightly worried by the 4* rating but heartened that reviews seemed positive since new ownership 3 months ago, and the new owner lived up to expectations. Despite being unexpectedly busy just before closing, the staff were polite and friendly as they tried to clear the orders, and they did this quite quickly, we only waited 5 minutes to order and 5 minutes for our food, which was cooked fresh to order. The fish was deliciously fresh and moist, among the best we've had, and it eclipsed the rest of the food which was also good. A light, crisp batter, not soggy, neither the chips. Mozzarella sticks also gooey inside, crispy outside, just right for me. The fish was maybe a little pricier than average but great value for how good it was. 10p for a plastic fork stung, but I see the point of environmental responsibility given wooden chip forks were available free. That said, the plastic bags the food was served for takeaway in could also change to paper. The manager also very kindly let us stay after closing to finish our food, though we were more than happy to go as it was, after all, closed. Would definitely go again.

Got short shrift from person serving when I said I didn't want my food in a plastic/polystyrene box. Was bluntly told that I need to understand that small towns can't afford paper 'which would cost 8p a sheet'. Very rude, not environmentally aware and food not to a good standard. Would not recommend.

Great tradition, but sadly, the longer the place is on the market, the less the owners seem to care about the place. They are only kept going by their extremely enthusiastic staff. Shuts too early for a chippy, especially on weekends.

Awful lady served me blonde short hair I got the impression she was the boss the way she spoke to her staff is awful ,the fish was full of grease not at all nice and you get a small amount of chips terrible food and awful service.
