I booked with slight trepidation after reading some mixed reviews. Staying at Fionnphort or 2 nights with my wife to visit Iona & Staffa and as the trip coincided with my wife's birthday I booked the Ninth Wave as a treat. We both eat out regularly in Scotland and abroad and have been lucky enough to visit some Michelin starred places over the years. The service at Ninth Wave was slightly quirky but very pleasant and the dining room small but very relaxed. The quality of food served was beyond expectations and on a par with some Michelin starred establishments. The format is akin to a tasting menu with 3 or 4 smaller plates (#4 is dessert), cheese as an optional extra and coffee / petit fours included. We shared a decent bottle of white from an interesting list. I had scallops and wood pigeon while my wife had the mackerel and crab stuffed courgette blossom. We both chose the half lobster "main" course. the Pigeon was slightly tough but otherwise the food was faultless. The lobster was exceptional and so refreshing to see it on a menu without the usual pricing supplement. Fabulous evening - thank you Carla and John. We will visit again one day.

Great crab sandwiches and smoked salmon sandwiches. Lobster salad is also very good value for money and very tasty. Highly recommended

Wow what an incredible dining experience on Mull, every single course of the tasting was incredible and the 2 front of house ladies are super knowledgable and the food and wine - thank you to Ross and his lively team for making our anniversary meal very special indeed

This is a new addition to the eating options in Tobermory - and will completely put it on the map as not only’ vaut le detour’, Michelin style, but as a destination in its own right . I had the tasting menu, my partner the a la carte ( so first, no nonsense about the whole table has to have the tasting menu)- the venue is bright, the welcome warm and informative, and the food - some of the best I’ve ever had. The langoustine and halibut courses were absolutely delicious whilst the scallops - with fennel oil and white chocolate sauce, amongst other flavours- the best I’ve ever had. Totally brilliant. Sauces for all the meat and fish , absolutely imaginative, some unusual, and worked! Wine choices delicious, atmosphere ‘ local’- tables talking to each other! ‘ and welcoming - ‘ walk ins’ were warmly greeted. All in all - an experience. And again - the food - superb. I didn’t take any photos but someone will….. we’ll done, and I wish you all the success you strongly deserve!

Just home from an evening at the Kilberry Restaurant, very friendly welcome from David and great service from the young man who waited on our table. It’s probably been said in previous reviews so I can only add to them by saying the food is sensational in a warm cosy environment. Can’t wait to return.

Had one of the best meals ever in this fantastic refurbished restaurant. Tide and Thyme have always produced excellent food but the new styling is truly remarkable. Everything just spot on. Our meals were all perfect, zucchini fritters, scallops, lamb, sea bass, seafood linguine, everything was beautifully presented, great portions and tasted sublime. Thank you for a wonderful evening. Good luck....not that you will need it....!

We had dinner two times and were pleased by the kindness of the staff each time. They do their utmost to give you a nice evening. Sea food is just as it should be fresh and simply dressed but delicious, and with a nice bottle of wine, youre dinner is top. Good value for money and pre booking is certainly advised !

Nice place with a refined but friendly feel. Food to a high standard and good portions, unexpectedly affordable too in comparison with just about anywhere we'd ever eaten. Recommended. Update, should have said before. Wife had absolutely chronic shits around 20 minutes after leaving. Shocking.

Visited during a weeks stay in Oban, well worth the 40ish minute travel each way! Ordered the seafood platter, half lobster, whipped butter with bread and whisky roasted veggies - everything was amazing! The rice pudding for dessert was to die for also! There were no oysters for the seafood platter but this was subbed with more langoustines and scallops which we were quite happy with. Although we never realised till we got back home that it was meant to come with herring which it didn’t, never noticed as too eager to tuck in, however the staff were so lovely I’m sure it was a genuine error and they would have brought it out if we noticed while there. Lovely atmosphere and cosy vibe, dog friendly too so big plus. Would definitely visit if in the area!
