The food was outstanding, there were 6 of us and everyone raved about how fresh and tasty everything was. Definitely a must go to when in Oban.

The food is phenomenal and service very quick.

From the ratings, we had high expectations, but sadly it didn’t live up to the hype. Tye langoustines was small that there was no point in Deshelling the claws. They are possibly the smallest that I have ever seen in Scotland and to make matters worse they have been cutting half and then burnt. I can only assume that they came unfrozen I cooked earlier in the day and then they char them just to reheat them. The place had a weird vibe with a giant wall that was the main feature of the room. The service was friendly although slow and although we tipped well, we never saw the same person twice. Oban has some great places to eat and complain aside. This restaurant is acceptable and anywhere else in the country would be considered good but we won’t be bothering to come back.

The food here was amazing. You can tell they take great pride in the dishes they serve here. The food was excellent. Great place. The service was brilliant the staff were friendly, attentive and polite. Happy to explain things in the menu. Busy place but had a nice atmosphere, only downside of any of it needs a bit of a refresh update inside. Otherwise a lovely experience and if we visit again would definitely go back.

Great food and greater service!

This has to be the best restaurant ever. We've never tasted such delicious beef that was cooked to perfection. The vegetables and potatoes were equally as delicious. Service was also excellent, not over the top but extremely professional. We will def visit again when we return to Oban. Thank you.

On a trip visiting my daughter in her new life in Oban we wanted to take her and her partner for a nice meal.. This certainly didn’t disappoint we were lucky to get a table it was fully booked and for a good reason!! First class food in a warm cosy restaurant with lovely staff who made you feel welcome. I am a foodie and been lucky to have eaten in some good restaurants and coast is up there with the best of them. Highly recommend

Lovely find whilst exploring Oban. Crab salad was delicious. My husband really enjoyed the lightly battered fish and chips and creamy tartare sauce. My Dad's blade of beef was wonderful. Great house wines and wonderful service.

My wife and I saw this place on a highly rated list of restaurants in Oban, safe to say this place really lived up to the hype! We'd say it was one of the best places we've eaten in Scotland so far, and maybe beyond, especially for the prices, so reasonable for the incredible experience. We had the risotto, the salmon, the venison and the sole, along with a few desserts and each dish was clearly made with expertise and love. The staff are lovely, we encourage all to try this incredible restaurant!

We've been traveling through Scotland for the past 2 weeks. From Edinburgh to Isle of Skye. We had the best meal since at this restaurant. Everyone is very friendly everywhere but the food is always the same no matter where you go. This place offered a bit more diversity and very tasty food. We truly enjoyed the steak and salmon. Great prices too.

After a horrible day, facing many challenges with our ethnicity in the area, we stumbled across Coast, an amazing restaurant. It’s was wholeheartedly one of the best meals we’ve ever had and we eat at a lot of places around the UK. We had langoustines to start sharing, huge portion. Just enough for two people. I ordered the slow roasted beef and my husband got the Miso cod. Hands down we could have eaten the meal again, not because the portions were small but purely because the food was outstanding. Then as neither of us really have a sweet tooth we ordered a desert to share purely on the fact of how good the rest was and the citrus pudding did not disappoint at all. The service from the get go was brilliant, very very welcoming and attentive, the restaurant its self was cosey, with a classy vibe. Hands down this restaurant is a diamond in the rough in this area. It’s a must visit. Honestly a wonderful experience.

Stumbled across this great restaurant while on holiday! Service was perfect, house wine was lovely, food super tasty...and for me the best thing was, even though I have a few allergies (gluten,dairy and more), it wasn't a problem as they cook to fresh and could adjust most of the dishes to suit! Really worth a visit if you are in the area! I can't thank them enough for treating me like a normal human when it came to eating even though I had a few allergies! If I lived in Oban I would be eating here all the time! Truly a great experience. Huge love to all the staff and what you are doing ❤️

Food was nice and fresh but I felt the menu was a little limited. I had the baked cod with orzo and tomato but not a lot of it. Personally I think there are better choices in Oban.

My partner, liz and I booked a table for Friday 11th October. My birthday. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant. The service from them was excellent. They were very polite and talkative. Liz had venison, I had steak. Delicious. When we were having our dessert the waitress brought mine out with a candle and happy birthday written on my plate in chocolate. I was surprised and very pleased that they did this. A very nice evening having dinner. So much, we booked for the Saturday night too. I had blade of Aberdeen angus. Liz had spiced cauliflower croquettes. We can't fault the food, staff or venue. Superb..... The food was very well presented and tasted great. It was a fantastic experience going there. 5stars is not enough. This restaurant is superb. The staff are all so professional, but very relaxed and friendly. There's a feeling of calm which is unusual in a busy restaurant. The menu is varied and consistently extremely good. We dined two nights in a row. I had venison with red wine jus on a bed of lovely green veg and hassle back potatoes. My partner had steak, home made chips and green veg, red wine jus. Second night I had spiced cauliflower goujons, veg and small crispy potatoes, he had blade of beef, veg. Sweets to die for! Very light sponges with cooked pears, rhubarb etc, and choice of ice cream, cream or creme fraiche. Very extensive wine menu plus ciders, beer etc. Beautiful clean toilets. Booking required. Parking available in nearby streets. The owner is the chef, his wife also works there. The restaurant has been there for 20 years and is very popular locally. Price range mid price, not cheap. But very good quality.

It was a great experience. I didn't know the restaurant but it had good reviews which were later confirmed. Good fish dishes and good appetizers. The desserts are also good and a wide choice of wines

This was the second time I had eaten here following a previous episode last year. I was up here for amateur photography. This was beautiful, I had several first courses as I was spoilt for choice and they were all wonderful. One of my starters was the pigeon. The staff warned me it would be served medium rare since I'm sure many tourists would have been uneasy but it was perfect as it should have been. The scallops and langoustines were wonderful. The venison haunch was perfect as a main course. Would be first choice if returning to Oban again thanks

Book a table in advance, it gets busy. A Wednesday evening in September it was full. We had booked though and were seated just a few minutes late. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was lovely. Scallops and mussels both very good for starters and we both had sole for main, very good. A good wine list too.

Nachdem etliches in Oban überfüllt war, kamen wir hier zum Zuge. Ein gediegenes nicht zu volles Restaurant mit interessanter Speisekarte. Von den Vorspeisen über Fisch und Fleisch zum Dessert. Ja, etwas höher das Preisniveau, aber die Essensqualität war dem entsprechend.

We recently dined at Coast in Oban and had a delightful experience. For starters, we had the smoked salmon and scallops, followed by the sole and local mussels for the main course. The food was flavorful and well-prepared. The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant atmosphere. It’s definitely recommended to book a table at least two days in advance, as the restaurant fills up quickly and you may not get a spot otherwise. Overall, a great dining experience with fresh local seafood and excellent service!

3rd time here absolutely fabulous

This is a truly excellent restaurant: it has a laid-back contemporary style, fantastic food, delightful staff and seamless efficiency - a winning combination that can only come from experience. The utterly professional husband and wife team that have run Coast for 20 years extend a relaxed and warm welcome to everyone - no one is a stranger - and are clearly and justifiably safe in the knowledge that they deliver on every level. And to top it all, the portion sizes are generous. The experience was a complete joy; we felt as though we were friends and will certainly visit again... soon.

The restaurant is very well run, from being greeted to timely and efficient service throughout the meal. Food was lovely, my wife and I both enjoyed all of our courses. I. Found 3 courses without additional sides was the right amount of food. Shame views aren’t better, would be lovely to overlook the coast. And a butter knife for the butter would be a small improvement.

reading the menu sounded nice so we decided to go in the waitress explained they had a table free at the moment but would need it back by 7.30 as it was only 6pm we decided to take it. the food was absolutely beautiful & the staff were very kind we never felt we were rushed and definitely return if back in the area.

Second visit to an incredible restaurant, travelled there for my partners Birthday lunch and the food was just as delicious as the last time we visited! Popular seafood restaurants in Oban. Recommend to book ahead. I had chicken liver pate, which was very fresh and great taste! Main fish was moist and cooked perfectly, delicious and beautiful.

Excellent hospitality & great food. Menu offers various choices between fish & meat which bring some challenges on what to choose. I really liked my venison with the vegetables. Starter was delicious, i was a bit unlucky which got exchanged immediately with a new one and came on the house with the bill. Superb service! The rhubarb ginger sponge cake was superlicious

Coast is a small, elegant family-run seafood restaurant just off the main bayside walking area in Oban. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome and were surrounded by people visibly delighting in their meals. The service was friendly, attentive, and helpful in orienting us in the town. The fish dishes were phenomenal, with the langoustines a particular highlight but every dish exceptional. The whiskey smoked salmon appetizer was a delightful light starter for two, and both the cod with samphire and harissa-baked sole were superb. I would make a return visit to Coast a priority on any future visit to Oban!

This restaurant is my wife’s favorite in Oban. The service is both friendly and efficient. We enjoyed starters and main courses, each of us selecting different dishes, and everything was exceptional. Absolutely stunning, service, meal and decor just stunning. Staff team can't do enough for you catering to all your needs. The meals were absolutely delicious not a complaint from any one from our party of 4. The wine suggestion from our waitress was bang on as well and most certainly not advising the most expensive bottles. The decor is really nice and fresh. I can't compliment this restaurant enough, everything about it was 5* and above.

Celebrated my birthday at Coast Oban. For starters we ordered the langoustines and wood pigeon. For mains, we got fish and chips and grilled cod. Food was amazing!

Cracking lunch time meal. Place was deed as it was monday lunch. But food was amazing.

This is the best restaurant we have eaten in on our holiday in Scotland. It was just perfect. Sole & Halibut was yummy & all the local produce was do eloquently presented for all 4 meals. Cheese & crackers was very tasty & local for dessert & Argentinian dessert wine matched perfectly. Top class service with down to earth hospitality.

First time in Coast, and we'll certainly visit again the next time we're in Oban! The food was delicious and well presented. The staff were friendly and professional, and it was really refreshing to be asked if we wanted a break in between mains and pudding! Really good value for money; everything was fresh and locally sourced. We had 3 courses each, beer and wine, and paid just over 100 quid.

Went after a recommendation from a fellow guest at Ardtorna plus from the guest information booklet. Woweeee. Everything about this place was mesmerising. Service was calm, efficient and friendly. Food was superb. Nicola as front of house was first class. We will 100% revisit this place, next time we're in Oban. We've already verbally recommended it to others.

Nice atmosphere and excellent staff. They sell wine by the glass ( as well as the bottle) which was very handy and a reasonable price. We ordered off the classic menu which was good value. The food was well presented , fresh. Seasonal and tasty. I had Blade of beef which was extremely tender, followed by the Scottish cheese. Not a big place so would recommend you book.

We did not have a reservation but the lady at reception greeted us well and asked us to wait. The food was very good . i would go back there just for the langoustines . Great service and food

We had a truly delightful meal here. We booked ahead for our first night in Oban, and we’re so glad we did. Delicious vegetarian dishes (including the Goat’s Cheese Salad and Butternut Squash Risotto, pictured), but also well-executed classics—my husband loved the fish and chips. Nicola is such a kind and welcoming host. It all made for a lovely evening!

By far the best meal we had in Scotland, one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Fresh ingredients, impeccable balanced dishes and spot on presentation. Excellent wine selection. Make sure you make a reservation, well worth it.

Stunning food in a really nice place staffed by pleasant and attentive staff. Had the scallops, seared fillet of cod, and finished off with the dark chocolate tart. All of which were delicious, that dark choc tart was off the charts good. Thanks folks, my wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner last night.

A nice bar/bistro. Food was nothing special, but we didn't expect it to be. Tasty and a normal portion. We saw that differently this trip.

Kitchen closes at 8:30 on the dot, looked good though. Having worked in a restaurant that served until ‘closing’ I don’t understand why places just don’t say that they close when they stop serving, it’s not like they are kicking customers out at closing so what is the point of saying ‘open till 9:00’ when all you can do is help wash up, that’s my rant for the night😬. Had a great meal at Markie Dans around the corner so was a win for me.

We arrived early to get a table and found that the restaurant filled up towards 1pm. Staff were very attentive, food was spectacular, ranked in our top 3 meals of this trip. They have a regular menu and also a seasonal menu, you can choose items from each. I would recommend the scallops, cod on pea and leek risotto and their lemon tart.

Lovely and busy restaurant. Booked well in advance and glad we did as we'd not stood much chance walking in. They have a regular and a seasonal menu and you can mix and match between both (exactly what we did!). Beef blade was plentiful but would have loved more sauce... but then I'd have a lot of it! My wife had the harissa sole and fish was cooked just lovely. Looking around the restaurant you'd not go wrong with the fish options!

The food was spectacular - love the emphasis on all things local. But what I really appreciated was that our hostess started by asking us about food allergies. As an introvert with a few food allergies, I really appreciated that.

Definitely the best restaurant stay during our time in Oban. No outside terrace, but a pleasant quiet atmosphere. A table reservation is recommended, but it works great by email. Our food (vegetarian & beef fillet) was outstandingly good. We were given very good advice when it came to wine. Dessert topped it all off. The service crew was super friendly, courteous and helpful.

Very good restaurant in Oban. The food is excellent. The menu is adapted to the seasons and the chef works mainly with local products. We tasted the mussels as a starter and the grilled langoustines as a main course. It was a real delight. The desserts are not left out and are also tasty. The service is impeccable.

Wonderful dinner at Coast on Sunday. Not only was the food (mainly seafood) excellently presented and delicious, but the staff really went out of their way to ensure we were having a nice evening. Really excellent dining experience.

Arrived early for our table before 1900 and Coast was virtually empty. First impression suggested the place was a bit devoid of character with the very minimal decoration giving off a bit of a sterile vibe. On reflection however we did very well with our timings, as within the next 45 mins or so it filled up completely, creating a nice buzzing but unobtrusive atmosphere .... not bad for any restaurant on a Monday evening! After recently enjoying good seafood in other establishments, some of us decided to stay on that tack, and others ventured towards meat as something of a change. Many Scallops had been eaten by our group over the previous few days, however the Scallops in Coast as a starter put those before to shame, with the excellent cooking, decent size, tiny pieces of black pudding and superb salad and dressing. The Wood Pigeon as a starter was a bit of a departure from the norm for two of us, but the gamble was well worth it. Fish and Chips, was exactly what it said on the tin and enjoyed by two. The Miso Glazed Hake received the accolade from one, as the 'best fish' she had had all trip, which says something, as a considerable amount of fish had been consumed and enjoyed. For my part, I departed completely from seafood in Coast, and along with the Wood Pigeon went for the Sirloin Steak with Chips, which I would have to say ranks up there with the best Sirloins I have enjoyed over more years than I care to remember - Excellent piece of meat, expertly cooked...... and the chips were great too! By the end of the evening I had no thoughts of a sterile vibe, just a memory of a fantastic meal with excellent and friendly service - thank you!

We had stunning food at Coast, Oban after it was recommended to us. Small but busy with lovely staff. Booking advisable. No views as it’s on a busy high street. Great menu for both food and drink. Lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.

From start to finish this was one of those meals that not only exceeds expectations but will remain long in the memory for its quality. The service was impeccable, attentive and cordial despite being fully booked. Obviously seafood is prioritised here. The scallops with hazelnut, apple, local black pudding and tender tiny leaves were sweet and cooked to perfection, as were the mussels served in classic white wine, cream and garlic liquor. Then came the fabulous huge portion of local langoustines, super fresh, split and chargrilled with delicious garlic butter. From now on this must be the only way to cook these sweetest of all shellfish. They were incredible. Having been issued with the full toolkit to attack and extract every last delicious fibre, we cracked and poked for ages until satisfied we had missed not a morsel. Desserts were special too… try warm poached rhubarb served on the lightest mini sponge with superb nutmeg ice cream....sublime. Thank you for such great gastronomy and such lovely service.

We dropped in on Coast on Easter Monday on spec, no booking, and were made very welcome, managing to get the last available table. The owners (chef and manager) have been running this boutique restaurant for 25 years and its popularity is unsurprising. The menu is interesting without being poncy and the food absolutely delicious. I had the sole and my wife the langoustines. We were in Oban for 2 nights so we returned the following evening. The restaurant was just as busy (an ordinary Tuesday night). Sally had the sole on my recommendation and I had plain fish and chips which were perfect. Coast is the best restaurant we have tried this year. Highly recommended!
