I stopped here early evening on a Friday. Haddock and chips was excellent as was my pint of Schehallion beer. Staff were friendly, service excellent. The food was a little expensive but you get what you pay for. Very good.

I had the pleasure of visiting Cattle & Creel Seafood & Steakhouse on picturesque Loch Lomond and was blown away by the experience from start to finish and I would highly recommend it. As soon as you entered the restaurant you could feel the warm atmosphere and the friendly staff, who immediately welcomed us. We started our culinary adventure with the Hand-Dived Scallops and the Prawn Tempura as starters. The scallops were perfectly cooked, juicy and tender, while the tempura was a crispy and delicious accompaniment. The flavors were simply amazing. For our main course we ordered the Surf & Turf Sharing Platter for Two and I have to say it was an absolute delight. The combination of juicy steak and fresh seafood was to die for. The steak was grilled to perfection, tender and full of flavor. The lobsters were fresh and tasted like the sea. Every bite was a revelation to the senses. To round off our feast, we tried the Apple & Pear Crumble and the Tiramisu Panna Cotta for dessert. The crumble was warm, crunchy and filled with a perfect blend of sweet apples and pears. The Tiramisu Panna Cotta was a divine combination of creamy panna cotta and the aroma of fine tiramisu. It was a real culinary delight. The Cattle & Creel Seafood & Steakhouse not only impressed with its exquisite food, but also with its charming ambience and attentive service. The staff was professional, knowledgeable and always had a smile on their faces. Overall, my visit to Cattle & Creel Seafood & Steakhouse was an unforgettable experience. The quality of the food, the presentation and the warm atmosphere definitely deserve 5 stars. If you find yourself on Loch Lomond and are looking for a first class dining experience then this restaurant is an absolute must.

The best seafood restaurant I have been to in a long long time, only comparable to the seafood restaurants in northern Spain. Professional, very friendly staff, superb fresh seafood and beautiful tasteful setting. The seafood platter is excellent, outstanding. They made me feel at home during my holiday to Scotland.

Restaurant, beautiful and food, tasty and great service. I had two experiences the good one I went on my boyfriend's birthday with his family it was perfect. In day 29/04 I didn't have a good experience, we called during the week to book a time. Arriving at the resturant we were informed that there was no fish, ok in our plans that's fine because we would eat another dish.We ordered wines, soft drinks, starters, when we went to order the main course there was none, I was very disappointed as it was supposed to be a special and romantic lunch as it was my last day in Scotland and I would only return after 6 months. And we went home without lunch because there was no food in the restaurant. I believe that something unexpected could happen, but they could call and let us know and not wait for us to arrive at the restaurant.

Expensive and not particularly imaginative menu sums this place. OK if you are not paying for it, but not value for money if you are.

Everything about this place was great when we visited yesterday for dinner with our toddler daughter the kids many was impressive 👏, she enjoyed her fresh fish and chips as did we enjoy out meals.

Can't recommend this place enough went today all the sea food was nice n fresh tasted great it also looks really nice inside planning on going back to try one of sharing plater a couple next to us got one of them looks & smells great can't wait to try it

We had searched for a steakhouse whilst driving through and this place popped up. Beautiful decor and very friendly staff. Food was top notch and very reasonable.

The seafood was delicious, and the room was fine. I was a little disappointed that they weren’t directly on the loch (which is what it seems like on the website), but across the street.

"Simply the Best" Sunday Lunch! It was absolutely awesome. I have to say the standard of Cattle and Creel is of the highest quality as is the service from George & Iona and the team they have in place. The Chef is a wonder and continues to turn out consistently high quality food with presentation to match! Superb in every way- a great experience from start to finish! Thank you all !!!

Popped in on Friday night to try their small plate evening. We had a lovely selection and left feeling very full. Staff were polite and friendly and the restaurant has such an enjoyable relaxing atmosphere, really was a great night. Thanks guys!

My son and I went last Friday evening for a belated Mothers Day meal and it was the first time we tried the Friday small plates. The whole meal was delicious we had cocktails and two 5 small plates between us and it was all delicious….plus of course the dessert cocktails which were yummy 😀 Special mention to our waitress Amelia she was lovely and nothing was too much trouble as well as a cheery smile. We will definitely be back soon

The best dining experience I can remember for some while, and we live in Italy! Amazing Friday small plate menu. I had a sense it was going to be good when the kids goujons arrived which were crispy and with succulent chicken. So often this kind of dish is below par. Between us we tried most on the meet and sea food menu. Standouts for me were the lamb chops and tiger prawns. I had both going at same time and loved every moment. Languistine and moules too. My Italian friends loved the mini haggis - their first try of this Scottish classic. Service excellent, efficient, warm and friendly. Somehow we have to come again!

Fillet steak was delicious 😋 wine was awesome really enjoyed it. Going back with more friends every month.

An impromptu dinner out. Well worth dropping in and pleased to get a table. The food was good and the service excellent, particularly from Iona - a lovely, friendly, efficient and helpful young lady.

Being a first time visitor to the town I nearly didn't go to Cattle & Creel after looking at some of the reviews, but I thought with an excellent average rating I ought to at least try, and I am so gland I did. I like to travel the United Kingdom and as I do I keep a travel diary, here's last night's submission: "We got back to the hotel a little before 5:00 pm were we had a quick wash and brush up before we headed out for our Friday night supper at Cattle & Creel. Jeepers what a fantastic feed we had, and I nearly didn’t go, although they had a 4.5 TripAdvisor rating, a few recent reviews weren’t that good. But I am so glad I gave it a go, as the food, the staff and the atmosphere was brilliant. To start we had some sourdough bread and oil/balsamic vinegar. For the main, as it was tapas Friday we had a fish medley of monkfish cheeks, langoustines and octopus, all of which were lightly battered. We also had a hand dived scallop with slow braised beef and a delicious squash & roe puree. Next up we had a fillet steak with a brandy peppercorn sauce and a portion of 36 hours braised ox cheek, with silky mash, red wine jus & crispy onions, oh and I ordered a side of chips. What delicious food it was, it was an utter delight, and we were stuffed. I was so stuffed that I declined a dessert and I had an After Eight cocktail instead, it was like velvet on my tongue". Sadly I live 150 miles to the north, in Inverness, or this would be my local restaurant, the dining experience really is that good!

First time in this place, atmospheric , nice ambience. Caring staff and attentive. Food i thoroughly enjoyed but will have to go back again to sample more .

Clearly profit usurps customer dining experience. £12 for two and a half (who does this?) small scallops, accompanied by brick hard, trivial pursuit pie sized, black pudding. Cullen skink which was stacked with cream and potatoes, yet light in seafood. £34 for a couple of small plates and a small wine. I don’t mind paying, but I hate being ripped off.

We had a really great evening here. The food was amazing. Started with the prawn tempura which was very tasty. I had the sea bass which was crispy and again very tasty. My partner had the steak. Pudding was divine too! George, our waiter, could not have been more helpful . He even ran to another restaurant to get us some limoncello . Highly recommended and would definitely return.

A rainbow of amazing sea food... Saturday was a perdect day to visit helenburgh farm to stock up, then onto cattle and creel for lunch with my father... From starters of mussells, chowder, to fresh languistines with french fries then home made apple pie....i could hardly stand up afterward...and not because of their fabulous wine selection. I had a french wine to start, then an italian wine to see me home .... Thank you all for a lovely afternoon. We will be back soon.. Polly..

I'm sure my rating would have been high, based on reviews, but unfortunately I couldn't dine here! On checking the menus prior to booking, it was very disappointing to see that there were no vegetarian mains on the a la carte menu, nor on the lunch menu. Highly unusual these days. Would it really be so difficult to include one dish?

Best steak in Loch Lomond area! We were just £72 for top 4 course dinner, olives, ciabatta, incredible steak and fish and amazing proper chips followed by cheesecake with home made icecream and coffees to die for. Very clean cutlery and table water with lemon. The service was the best I can ever imagine!! Very romantic setting and super polite waiter. Highly recommended and very good value for money!!

Decided to do a restaurant crawl for a birthday treat. First up the Cattle & Creel for our starter of fresh Loch Fine Oysters. However there were no oysters! Is this the norm here? Do the ever actually have them for sale? Were we just very unlucky? We left.

Excellent seafood restaurant with a great atmosphere. Whether a special occasion or an evening out with friends/family you won't be disappointed.

Food was okay but the service was unbelievably slow. We sat there like lemons while two other couples came, had their dinner, paid their bills and left before we got our second course! All we had was one soup and one fish and chips!!

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Nothing short of spectacular again. Had the tbone and lobster special last night, and if I shut my eyes, I can still imagine the amazing flavours. Steak cooked perfectly and carved off the bone for us which was a really nice touch. Lobster grilled to perfection, and supplied with a dish of garlicky loveliness to dip.into. can't forget to mention the crunchiest home made onion rings, beautiful pepper sauce, and the richest, stickiest, and tastiest red wine jus I have ever had. Chips were none too shabby either. We could only share a pud. And plumped for the cheesecake, which was again just superb. The service was just wonderful too, and added so much to our evening.

Outstanding, the seafood and steaks were amazing, even the chips were probably some of the best I've ever had.

Really really good restaurant been a few times now and it has been excellent every time. Service, food and drink selection is very good and the quality is right up there.

I think the best place in Helensburgh, quality food and friendly hard working staff.

We were recommended to go to this place by staff at the Ardgartan Hotel in Arrochar and even though we did not have much time we were happy with the fresh food we received. It took a little bit longer than we thought it might to be brought our food but when it finally arrived it was really tasty. I am glad I only ordered from the small plate menu and had enough food. The sea food was all well cooked and fresh.

I came to this resturant whilst travelling with my girlfriend. Long story short, I was please with my dining experience but can not say it was immaculately perfect. Prior to arrival, we had walked through Helensburgh and were struck by the front of the building, the signage was noticeable but it was not too gaudy as to put off the appearance of cheapness. We decided that we wanted the seafood platter as we had a hankering for shellfish. Advice on the menu is to call before you plan to visit to check availability. Staff informed us that we were in luck! Upon arrival, staff were happy to see us, and discussed the meal with us whilst leading us to our table. The presentation was as would be expected although we did have to request alternative cutlery as we were given steak knives to begin. We ordered one (moderately priced) glass of wine each and water for the table. The kitchen is situated in the centre of of the resturant, so it was great pre-meal entertainment to watch the food being prepared. before receiving a five minute warning that starters were on the way out. The meal itself was brilliant, and contained a whole lobster, oysters, scallops, languoustines, two portions of fries and garlic foccacia. All excellently and freshly caught/prepared, and at this point we were also provided with additional cutlery to support our shellfish dining experience. A personal highlight was seeing the finished pile of shells after we had finish. It's worth noting that it took two of us several hours to work through the meal, and of course we left no meat spare. One complaint would be that the salad provided looked and tasted like kebab shop doner salad. This did put a downer on the experience and has cost the meal five stars. We did not opt for desert as the meal left us stuffed. This was the last place we expected to find a quality establishment such as this, and some of the other clientele clearly had a drinks focus during their visit. As we had already opted for a pricey meal, we did not want to empty the bank on drinks but with the options at the bar, you certainly could if you wanted to. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Loch Lomond area and can drive for 20 minutes or so. Service - 9/10 Food - 9/10 Price - 7/10 Atmosphere - 8/10 Overall score: 33/40

Seriously... this place has great reviews... Mmmm Seafood restaurant that has soup of the day as potatoe and leek... how bizarre Seafood pasta omg pepper with pepper. Over cooked by about 10 years single prawn .. Left without coffee or dessert I was that disappointed

Food was fab - had main special to share - T bone steak and whole lobster with range of sides - very reasonable and plenty to share. Lovely atmosphere, friendly efficient staff. Highly recommend.

I visited Cattle and Creel recently and thought it was pretty good but not excellent. There was quite a wait for food but when it arrived, it was nicely done. The Medium Rare Fillet and Medium Rib Eye were cooked to our individual liking. I did feel that for a place calling itself a steakhouse and seafood place, there should have been more than 2 choices for steak. The steak seemed somewhat overpriced too, at £30 for 8oz, making it over £100 a kg. There was little atmosphere too, albeit that might be because we had an early reservation (5pm).

Enjoyed a meal. Good service. Lovely view from my window seat.

Was visiting Helensburgh at the weekend and was looking for a place for an evening meal. Had 3 American friends in out party. What a place, what a find, little jewel in the crown of Helensburgh. Great food, lovely atmosphere, no loud music so you can chat without shouting. The staff very helpful and friendly, especially Alice, what a character worth her weight in gold! We will be back! Food well presented and reasonably priced, we left 5 clean plates. Phone to book your table so that you will not be disappointed. 5 Star plus.

Came down to Helensburgh for the day and popped in for something to eat . Restaurant had a lovely ambience. Food was absolutely stunning and will probably skip a starter next time as the portion sizes were incredible. Well worth a try if your in Helensburgh ☺️

Glad I tried it but I won't be going back. The staff were so attentive (hopefully I left a decent tip) and the food was good but as its claimed to be locally sourced, its priced as being imported.

Had heard many good things about this place but sadly we did not enjoy our experience here. The wait was long. The food was ok, in our party they enjoyed the salmon, however 2 members had the fish and chips. The fish and chips were one of the worst fish and chips ever had. Peas were partly frozen. Fish was undercooked and actually the reason I have posted this review today as both party members who had the fish have been very ill. They didn't even eat that much and left half the fish it was that bad. Their sister restaurant the Tapas place down the road is a hundred times better so go there. Avoid avoid avoid this place.

Great food and service with a nice atmosphere.

We visited last night for the first time. The staff were very nice, as was the food. However, the entire evening was marred for us and others by a very loud large group. Our waitress spoke to us after they left to apologise and to say that the group was spoken to several times. We saw no sign of that, and certainly no sign of a manager speaking firmly to them. The noise was significantly beyond what was reasonable, and it was more than frustrating to see the lack of intervention by the restaurant management. Cattle & Creel was recommended to us, but we will think carefully before returning, based on this experience. Noisy groups are inevitable of course, but restaurants also need to be able to effectively manage them. At least 5 other tables around us were also audibly complaining about noise.

We went with family for a Mother’s Day lunch. Had a vegetarian with us and they adapted meals to suit her. Have also been previously with a vegan and again they weee very accommodating and made meals for her to suit. Nothing was too much...

The waitresses were friendly. That was the only good about it. I had the worst fish pie ( compare with cheap version from the supermarket). Waited for a long time then the pie came in a very small oven dish with 3 very small pieces...

Oysters and calamari were great starters, mussels for main were good sized and tasty, seafood linguine wasn't bad but could have been better, wine and diet coke a bit expensive

Lovely meal and staff very attentive. Each course came out all together, so we weren't waiting for other people to get their meals. Its not cheap, but we'll worth it. Another lovely meal there, with a window view out across the Clyde estuary. They had a special menu for the Easter Sunday with a rolled leg of lamb. I had a rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection. I'm no food critic, but I know what I like and the whole meal was great. It's probably not the cheapest place, but it is worth spending out.

We had a splendid evening at this lochside favourite. The welcome couldn’t have been warmer or more professional. Soon, we were installed at the bar, contentedly sampling the extensive gin menu. Although there were only two of us, we were shown to a comfy booth...

Unfortunately had a bad experience. Lovely Venue and staff but the food and waiting time was very poor. Was their for mothers day. A couple of principle items on a small menu were not available, no big issue as it was a busy day for them. We were told food would take a while so were upsold a bowl of bread which was a bit cheeky! Anyway after 1hr waiting we had to chivvy them along. Burger came without half the garnish and it was very average. The Sunday roast was poor, my daughters meat was good but my wife's was full of gristle and inedible (seeing it was her night out that was very disappointing!). Also, if they had wanted Aunt Bessie's precooked potatoes from the supermarket I am sure we would not have gone to a restaurant to eat them! On the up side my son's 1/2 lobster was good (he has expensive tastes) £100 for 4 3 meals of a very average/poor quality and no offer of any recompense for a long wait and a bad meal is not the sign of a healthy restaurant. Oh! and the male toilets were in a disgusting state!!
