Visit this shop every time I'm in Oban.

Very disappointing fish and chips. Chips were reheated , fish untasty and seafood box was not worth the money. £27 wasted!

Food was ok chips where a little under cooked and the fish was small for the price. Food was cooked fresh while you wait and hasn't been sitting like the other chippy down near the ferrys.

Visited Oban for the first time and walked past this fish and chip shop. Premises looked appealing and stood out amongst the buildings. Menu was what you expect from a fish and chip shop and prices very reasonable. Got a Cod and Chips, curry and peas. was offered a large fillet no extra charge. Cod and chips were cooked perfectly and portion side more than generous. Customer service was 5 stars If I was to visits Oban again I would definitely go again. Highly recommend

Went on a quiet weekday lunch-time and sat in to eat a haddock supper. Having had many fish suppers in my lifetime this was absolutely the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. The fish was perfectly cooked, crispy and flakey, and the chips were fantastic.

best fish and chips Ive ever had. batter is exceptional. they only had haddock the night we went and i prefer cod. excetional;y expensive though. before you go fish and chips are £ 17 per portion and with a small fish £11 although in all fairness most would be very satisfied with the small.

We were visiting oban and there was 10 of us we walked up to the tower then in here for a meal,The food was lovely and fresh and the lady server was very friendly,This is not a posh place for a meal the cups are paper and fish suppers are in polystyrene trays ,you put your litter in the bin and it’s not fancy tables,We thought it was good value and good portions and we were all full,

We arrived in Oban after 3 pm and it was hard to find a restaurant to have lunch. So we went to Nories to have some food. And we found their Fried prawns, squids and fishes are delicious and nice staff.

Best fish and chips place in Oban according to Luana and Destinie! What a hit, delicious and sooo fresh. Everything we needed. Ps. You can bring your own beer as they don’t sell it there ;)

From Grimsby so grew up with great fish and chips at a good price.Haddock was the norm. Oban Nories did not disappoint best chips I have had in a long while I had scotch pie tasty and a different pastry. Well recommended as a go to eat in or take away.

We visited Oban again and usually visit the chippy up the road but it was closed. So we visited Nories, a local shop had recommended avoiding this one but we thought "why not", it looks tidy and endorsed by Gordon Gino n Fred. The large fish n chips at obout £17 is waaaaay over priced, worth about £7 at best. Portion size was small, not large atall. Fish was thick with batter and not so much actual fish. Wife had the fishcake chips n curry, portion size was OK, over priced at £9. The curry sauce was nice though so gained a star for that. Extra £1 each is charged if you choose to sit inside, which is an insult at the prices already charged. There are two other chippy's nearby, both are 10x better than Nories.

Cardboard fries really not good and as a chicken burger, a bun with chicken without anything else... If you eat at this fast food restaurant, I highly recommend you get the fish and chips... Fast food to avoid!!

Fast friendly service, lovley large fish supper. Fresh and tasty, good mushy peas and chips aswell, great menu choice. A few people opted for the fish basket when I ordered , looked delicious, will try next time . A good well established chip shop in oban , worth a visit, prices are OK for a tourist destination like oban. The quality of fish and the size of the fish was exceptional. Will definitely return on my next visit to oban

It had been over two years since my last chippy, and oh, how I had missed them...never fear when in Oban, you have to visit Norries for the best fish, chips, white pudding and even 'east coast' brown sauce (IYKYK). Visiting Oban, make sure you get your fish & chips here!

Lovely Fish and Chips for her, 2 X battered sausage and chips for me. Both thoroughly enjoyed them and were priced very reasonably. They don't serve "scraps" up here for some reason, but that's no reason to lower the score. Super friendly service as well. Recommended before a walk up to the Tower.

Didn't eat there. Decided to sit out on the bridge watch the sunset which we loved to do. There is a charge for dinning in. My fries sadly weren't done enough. The fish was good on ends. Middle got a bit soggy. I did see gordon gino & Fred rated best fish in chips in Oban.

The best fish and chips in Oban according to Gordon Ramsay. While I haven't tried any of the other Chippys in Oban, this is one of the best servings of fish and chips I've had in Scotland period. You get a choice of cod or haddock (I prefer the haddock). The fish itself is both juicy and flaky while the breading is crispy, golden brown and delicious. The chips are good and proper, nice and thick and crispy - salted to taste based on your preference. The smoked sausage is also recommended; mouth-watering and delicious! The only negative in my opinion is the tartar sauce they provide is pre-packaged and too sweet for my liking. I prefer a more homemade savory tartar sauce. Finally, the owners and staff are friendly and up for a chat while you wait for your order. I've eaten here in numerous times in two separate visits to Oban and have never had any bones in my fish as other reviewers have stated. If your Scottish adventures find you in Oban, definitely swing by Nories!

It is not ideal waiting outside for your order when there is no queue inside, especially in the colder evenings.

Expected so much more……Cod was a little dry, handful of chips even though ordered a large cod and chips.. peas were v good . We were going to share the chips….but you could t ! Photo included.

Of all the fish and chips I have tried on my trip to Scotland, I can say that this has been one of my favorites. It's a place where you can eat it there or pick it up to go. The portions are generous and the fish batter is exquisite, as is the fish itself. We loved it.

Our first choice was takeaway only. So we went to Nories. Lovely friendly people. Fantastic MUSHY PEAS! Gordon Ramsay (muppet!) seems to prefer it. So you can't go wrong. (Note: hears Ramsay say "muppet" in a lot of BA commercials.)

Very average… our purchase was a fish supper, 2 sausages, mushy peas n a carton of curry sauce. The fish good crispy batter, but the fish was about the same thickness as a fish finger. Seriously… The chips, looked good, but were a dry… Sausages ok, but nothing special. The saviour was the curry sauce n mushy peas… they just brought the whole meal together and made it a bit tastier n moist. Next time I visit Oban, I’ll try the chippie further up the street claiming to be the 3rd best chippie in the UK👍💕😂

5.0 Fresh, cheap, local. If anyone is passing through Oban and wants some fish and chips, I recommend this place.

The food was good and easy for the family but honestly not all that outstanding. I've been a few times and sometimes it's a miss but I would recommend you try still as it’s decent for such a small town

So the food was allright but the vegan friend in our group had to look for another place to eat bc they have 0 vegan options. When they came back with vegan stuff from another place they were asked to leave. Also there was 1£ for sitting in and the food was quite expensive too

Great food, we loved it; fresh fish and cut potatoes, not frozen. The girls who serve are very friendly and attentive, we are Spanish and they have even helped us find stores on the street. A 10!

I have found my new favourite chippy, the only downside is the 6 hour drive to get here. The fish was excellent, the chips well cooked and there was certainly plenty of it. Totally recommend.

Asked for cod but told we could only have haddock! Fair enough but what poor quality fish!! Greasy batter and thin watery fish! Chips were tasty but will go somewhere else next time. First time we've had a bad fish supper in Oban.

If you're staying in Oban, you must go to Nories ! The fish 'n chips is so good ! The boss was really kind and we really enjoyed the food.

Was asked if I wanted salt and Vinegar I said yes please 2 grains of salt and a drip of vinegar between 2 fish suppers then they were thrown on the counter. It wasn't just us that staff were rude to it was other customers as well

We picked up a takeaway order one even in Oban. Only waited 5 minutes for our order. Food was delicious and fresh. Chips were to die for!

Two large fish suppers One was long and full but the other was mostly fish shaped batter. Both were not very tasty, definitely was not fresh fish nor was it haddock.. the batter was thick soggy and more like a dough not edible.

Was violently ill for 24 hours after a fish supper from here. Avoid.

Decent food and cooked right, but very very expensive. I'm used to fish being expensive, but to charge the same amount for a sausage as a fish.. check the bill before you order.

Haddock and chips were good but had a few bones, which is not very nice, around 6 bones. Seafood basket was good. The sausage was tasty))) Overall nothing special. I think personally the chipper next door is better.

Visited 28 June. You order, then step outside to be called when your food is ready. DW had the seafood basket, which she rated 4/5. Her complaint was the portion was a tad skimpy. I had the deep fried cheeseburger. Interesting concept - a bit dry - might have been better with ketchup or brown sauce (not provided or offered). The chips were unsalted. Very limited indoor seating so had to eat on the cold & windy waterfront.

There are three of us to order, two dishes only because we have a small appetite this evening. For this reason we are obliged not to eat on site, even though the tables are free. Customer relations a little limited… so we went back to eat on our hotel beds because it was raining outside. No other restaurants still open at 8:30 p.m., otherwise we would not have ordered. Little anecdote which justifies the fact that we would not order again, despite the fact that the dishes were delicious with fresh fries and excellent fish and a more than adequate portion! Damage…

outstanding food, busy and fast paced organised chaos. A review commented on not having plates. The take out is in a box, if you sit in then you get a paper play type tray, not at all unusual for this sort of quick serve restaurant. When you go in, step to your right where the line forms, and quickly figure out your order, (cod or haddock) I got the large haddock and chips £17.50 it is a huge serving. I totally loved the experience, and the food was above and beyond what I expected.

Went in and asked if the fish was fried in same oil as other meat, the big bulky bald guy at the counter aggressively said ‘haram haram haram’ in response to that many times to try and get a certain point across. Needlessly to say I walked out, I do sure hope they don’t treat other Muslim-looking tourists like this!

The food is of the best quality. The interaction between the employees is interesting and something to marvel at. Large orders are received and executed correctly without taking notes. Despite the high speed, there is still time for a joke and a smile. Thank you - we come back every year.

I'm sorry but the food in this place is nowhere near worth the money, me & my girlfriend were in the mood for a chippy before heading home & we opted for this place..we ordered a fish supper & a single haggis & 2 pickles to be fair the chips were good but the fish was very disappointing, not much fish in it & very soggy, at a price of £25 you'd be expecting much better..we left feeling disappointed & ripped off

we ordered fish and chips to sit at a table in their restaurant. The food came in a cardboard box!! I asked for plates but was impertinently laughed at. I cannot recommend this place

Visited in past few days ago spoke to man frying fish chips rather abrupt. Anyway ordered haddock and chips sit-down service reasonably quick waitress plesent although fish over battered.

Avoid. Go elsewhere this place is a tourist trap.

Not a welcoming place to eat the chip fryer has a serious attitude problem with customers for some reason maybe something to do with his head in the clouds, charging and additional £2 to sit in and 70p for a sachet of sauce,he also expects you to clean up your table before leaving what a joke. Certainly won't be back worse chippy ever.

Always great food.i did notice fish was smaller than usual. But tasty all the same.

Your average fare in tourist town. @ its heart, the haddock was good (cooked perfectly, & batter light). The chips undercooked, vinegar like water. No condiments provided.

Anywhere I go I like to get hamburger supper I was disappointed to find when we got back to our caravan we only had 1 burger each no the 2 we get everywhere else

Not great at all, no cod available, no breadcrumbs so you could not order a special fish either! The service was not great, I felt like we should have went to the Oban fish and chip on the same street further down! I thought the fish supper would have been great as well but was no better than back home in Glasgow! Poor marks from me all round!

The fries were borderline edible. For a fish & chips restaurant, this is problematic. Ketchup is sour. I was tempted by what seems to be a specialty: a steak breaded in bread as a burger. Not crazy either. The fish is okay though. In short, pay attention to the reviews. Unless you have a bad evening, I don't recommend it at all.

I had a fish super and it was delicious, my wife got the mixed seafood 😋. The owner was very friendly and we sat in to eat to get out of the bad weather. This is a perfect fish n chip shop.

Really good fish and chips, not very expensive, I also tried the chicken burger, top quality bun fluffy and fresh, perfect quick meal for me. they do have sit in dine charge which is 1£, Chips quality and quantity is good, so 1 portion should be sufficient to share for 2

Good food, awesome persons in a fry smelling place. Fish not bad but chips not so good. Don't try calamari hard to eat.

Food was tasty , but was disappointed the chicken burger was just a burger and bun (no salad and dressing). 70p for a sachet of either tomato sauce , Mayo etc. was mean too for a meal for 2 that cost us nearly £30! Would just suggest a 5 star if these things got addressed!

Eat here! Incredible food and INCREDIBLE service. Went with a relative that has food allergies, the employees were so accommodating & helpful, they let us read all the food labels and made my relative a special food item.

I have managed some good chip shops over the years and had my own for several years I visited this one on Monday afternoon whilst on a day trip in Scotland and I have to say it was absolute quality perfect fish and chips and the peas were very well cooked

It boggles my mind that people would say this place is worth driving to from Edinburgh… The food was garbage. Fish was mostly soggy bread crumbs (for 20 pounds ?!), the hot chips were mostly raw, and the pea mash was pea mush …. Plus the staff was fairly disengaged, I guess travelers aren’t worthy of their time. A pity because Oben is truly a magical place otherwise.

We had lunch at Nories Fish and Chips Sit In Restaurant. The service wasn't great, I wanted a battered Chicken Breast Supper but I had ended up a really dried chicken breast without the batter instead. I wasn't happy when I had to reorder and repay my battered chicken because the staff never said if I wanted plain or battered. The service was slow. The atmosphere was too noisy with kids screaming, the staff shouting over each other and rabio blasting to the high volume on a Sunday. The food is very greasy and disgusting. It overpriced for what you get - cheap and basic. The restaurant was unhygienic with dirty cutlery handed to you. This place doesn't have kids meals where there one young lad came in for a kids fish supper but ended up charging him £10 for a small adult fish supper. Don't waste your money and go somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody especially families with young children. I wouldn't be coming back at Nories again. Daytime robbery.

Norries is always good. I sat in this time, the set up is fairly typical chippy cafe but very clean and organised. The staff are very friendly and clearly know their regulars well. Highly recommend Norries food. Marvellous!

Amazing food and hospitality, we only get to visit a couple of times a year but its soooo worth it!!!
