Excellent fish and chip shop in Oban which is very busy, serving fresh fish and chips. A small restaurant with upstairs seating and attentive staff. Fish was excellent.

Lovely people and excellent food! I regret not getting the deep fried haggis haha but the haddock was fresh and tasted wonderful. There was a queue and a constant flow of customers which told me it was worth the wait. I would definitely go back to them if I visited Oban again. Better than the east coast of Yorkshire and that's high praise from a Leeds lass.

Don't listen to Rick Stein, these are the best chips....

Terrific fish supper, and staff were ever so pleasant. Was served within minutes, very (too!) generous portions. And the fish was really fresh. I had the cod, which was firm and flaky, not soft or mushy as often happens in fish suppers. One of the top fish and chips supper I have had in a long time.

Great set meal.. Haddock Chips, Peas pot of tea, bread and butter. .. and I saved the best till last...homemade tartar sauce ,absolutely delicious. All at a very fair price. Staff were very friendly and polite

We visited on the 29th April on my husbands birthday. The staff were so welcoming and attentive! The food was superb, freshly cooked, tasty and reasonably priced. They made an old man very happy by putting a birthday candle in his ( huge) sticky toffee dessert and sing Happy Birthday. I can't praise the food, service and hygiene enough. We'll return on our next visit to Oban for sure. Thank you.

Probably the best fish I've ever had from a chippy

Massive chip butty, and a very polite friendly young lady to serve us. Prices are more than reasonable for a tourist area. There's also a small restaurant, which looked great through the window where you can eat.

We returned from an excursion around 8:30 p.m. and they welcomed us with a big smile at 8:45 p.m. Restaurants open after 9 p.m. are rare and the pub near the station does not accept children after 9 p.m. We were not disappointed. It was very good and the staff were lovely. They also do takeaway next door and the people waiting were not mistaken about the quality. Thank you again for your welcome.

Following an Oban Distillery Tour we were ready for some Lunch, not knowing the area a quick Google maps search led us here.(dog friendly btw) We went for the £18.95 option which includes a good size portion of Haddock and chips with mushy peas, bread and a large pot of Tea. Food and service were spot on, can't fault the place 👍

'George Street Fish & Chips' Oban (Scotland) Fish (Haddock) - local catch, freshly made to order, crispy batter, but slightly greasy (The order was rushed) 9 out of 10. Chips, hard 7 out of 10. Mushy Peas, no seasoning 5 out of 10. Home made tartare sauce - too many capers, not enough sauce 7 out of 10 (Service, 8 out of 10) polite young man, but the fryer appeared to be in a panic and rushing orders through, which I think is why the chips were not cooked enough or the fish allowed to drain. Sad really as we visited on customer reviews, don't think I would chance it again at £13 for fish and chips, 70p for ketchup a bit steep #fishandchips

Ask for grilled fish..get oily pan fried fish..not looked like I whanted, chips not fully cooked. Not happy at all.

A very tasty and well prepared fish and chip. The fish was fried on order which is appreciated. Also, the fries were great and the batter for the fish was not too oily as it can be sometimes. Some negatives was that I was not allowed to salt it myself and instead the majority of the salt ended up on the fish. Large portion sizes so if you’re not too hungry a normal size cod and chips would probably suit two.

I went here on the evening of 11/4/25 and the food and service was just brilliant! The waitresses that served me was fab and are a credit to the restaurant :-) I didn’t get their names but if any staff member sees this, please pass on my heartfelt thanks to them and everyone else for making my experience here a wonderful one :-)

Lovely atmosphere with beautifully cooked fish. The staff were helpful and friendly. The spicy fish soup is a beauty, worth travelling up from the south coast for the soup alone. I recommend this restaurant very highly.

What fabulous service. Sit in or take out. It was small and snug with tables down and upstairs. I had the grilled sea bass, which was so good. Hubby rated the fish and chips very highly, higher than a restaurant we had been in [ on Oban Harbour] a couple of days earlier. He enjoyed it, but George Street excelled.

This was a wonderful experience! Some of the restaurants on the seafront were crowded, we didn’t want that. We just turned the street and do this lovely restaurant window, and the menu showcased some really appetizing suggestions. We went for the langoustines, freshly fished the night before… absolutely delicious. The waitress was really nice, adviced us so well… and music was perfect. They hold a « Fish and chips take away » just aside the restaurant, we thought it was a great idea. Smart, talented and very welcoming people over there!

Dropped in on the off chance and what a little jem, the waitress was absolutely amazing and polite nothing to much trouble for her, all in all 9 out of 10 ,excellent .

Super good food! We stayed in Oban 3 nights and came here everyday for dinner. The seafood was really fresh and tasty. We have had seafood at different places in different countries but the seafood here was among the best we have tried! The portion was big and the price was very reasonable. Service was also great & the people were all very friendly - we felt so welcomed. Highly recommend this gem in Oban!

We ate in and had a lunch here and it was a great experience with very welcoming staff. The place was cosy with nice decor. The food was fresh and hot serving up great chips and the lemon sole fish just melted in the mouth 🐟

The freshest tastiest fish and friendly service.

My wife and I were looking for a lighter meal than the typical deep fried fish and chips. We chose the Trio of Smoked Salmon as a starter whish was very yummy. For mains my wife chose the Spicy Fish Soup as a main and I had one of the specials Grilled Plaice. The Plaice is a light and mild white fish and gave us some room left to try their grandmother's world famous Sticky Toffee Pudding. While they didn't have my favorite Skye Black beer, they did have a couple of tasty Scottish ales that were quite good. Sit upstairs if you want a quiet dinner date or sit downstairs by the window and watch the world go by. Many thanks to our server/manager/owner(?).

We know Oban well and tried this chippy for a change. We were not disappointed atall, lovely food, great service and very friendly. I had chips n curry sauce, the sauce a little runnier than I prefer but very tasty. My wife had a chip butty, and enjoyed it. Great value for money and piping hot. My wife was waiting outside with our pup, but the guy waved her in too, and gave a battered sausage to our dog. Which he very much enjoyed and fully endorses. We will return here again, thank you.

Went for the langoustines last Friday but sadly the boat hadn't arrived with their catch. Wasn't disappointed though, ended up having their traditional fish and chips and a homemade tartar sauce that I could've eaten on its own. Washed down with a lovely pinot. Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch there. The staff (mother and daughter I suspect) were really lovely and attentive.

Could smell the chippy a mile off and we were like yes.... that's what we fancy.... then decided we'd sit in .... the menu wasn't quite what I thought I fancied in the restaurant, not your yer bog standard chippy cafe lol, however, the other half still got his fish and chips and to my surprise I was more than delighted with my choices of grilled queenie scallops, and a goats cheese starter.... amazing, service really friendly and helpful too.

The salmon fillet was good with a few too many fried potatoes to definitely try the desserts and pudding. I also say the others are excellent

Excellent !! Very fast service. The dishes arrived very hot. It was sooo good, a special mention for the tartar sauce 😋. The desserts were excellent, between the sticky toffee pudding and the pie bandiez (the cream on top was too delicious 😜). The waitress, Olga, was very friendly and was very pleasant and available throughout the meal. To recommend without any hesitation.

Takeaway: Fish cakes were awful, overcooked and tasteless potato like filling. The haddock was covered in a layer of yellowish paste between the batter. Extremely underwhelming experience.

Wonderful friendly restaurant. I asked if they did gluten free meals and was told they did grilled cod . It was soo fresh it was like it had swam from the sea to my plate . Everything freshly cooked. The waitress not only cleaned the tables when someone left but also the seating so it was always scrupulously clean. The loo was also scrupulous and had everything you could want supplied . Wonderful experience in Oban . The picture in the loo described the restaurant perfectly .

I wanted to sample the “Seaford Capital of Scotland” fish and chips so went into this restaurant. They had a fish supper on the menu, which included tea and sliced bread. Their take away shop did red, black and white puddings. I entered thinking of the UK’s best F&C bar in Anstruther. I was told the bread was whole meal, that they didn’t serve any puddings and if I didn’t have chips then the meal would be small. I asked if they could give me something other than chips to make up the difference and we agreed on extra salad. The plate arrived, the salad was Rocket and the amount was the same as the people on the table next to us who had a portion of chips. We left the restaurant and there were still puddings in their takeaway shop. The fish was tasteless, the batter soft, the mushy peas runny and Rocket leaves past there sell by date.

Fantastic haddock with chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and either tea or coffee. Exceptionally fresh fish, very light crisp batter, proper chips. Atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely with very good staff. Attentive staff but not hanging over you. Wish this was near where I live!

Stepped in after returning from Mull. Convenient to the ferry terminal. Great food and service. Sticky Toffee pudding was great! Glad we stopped.

One of the best fish restaurants in Scotland I really recommend the grilled fish and be careful if your a Muslim because everything except the grilled fish has beef fat so the oil is not halal but the grilled fish is halal and I really recommend it if you like seafood

Small little eatery with wonderful food, drinks, and service. Short walk from our B&B. Really enjoyed the Fish & Chips. If we return to Oban on holiday again, we will definitely stop by for food and drinks.

Very very nice experience in Oban! The starter: the salmon trio, a real delight for the taste buds! The dishes: as hearty as they are delicious! Nothing to complain about the quality of the products! We will come back!

Great customer service, attentive staff. Big portion fish and chips

Great little seafood place just off the main street in Oban. Stopped in for fish and chips as well as a Shrimp and Langiustine cocktail. Service was great as was the food. The mushy peas stole the show. Lots of choices in Oban but this has a great atmosphere. Worth the stop for sure.

My wife and I were in the restaurant for lunch on Saturday the 14th of September, we use the restaurant every time we visit Oban excellent food. My wife had a medical situation a ongoing issue during lunch, which resulted in us having to attend hospital. the staff all were so helpfull and supportive contacting emergency services and assisting us during a tence situation. We will be forever grateful. The manageress would no accept any payment for meals we had started Amazing. Not just a great restaurant, lovely atmosphere and lovely staff. Very good food and service, Megan was excellent!

Haddock beautiful and batter delicious with just enough coating.Chips not so, as luke warm and not crisp, seemed as though been standing a long time.Mushy peas good not too salty but again luke warm.Brewed tea very good.Good pleasant service but taken aback when paying on card to be asked to add quite a large tip which I declined as I had cash to offer. Desserts looked delicious

Dissapointing . Bit off a soggy mess. Had a better and cheaper fish supper in glasgow. 18.95 for a double fish supper. 55p for ketchup. Tourist trap. The one up the road nories is better

Delicious food and excellent service

A place with very good fish and chips. It is very close to the promenade so it is easy to get to and take it with good views.

We ordered a veggie Burger and all we got was the petty without the bread. The chicken burger didn't have any lettuce or tomatoes as well and they also charged us too much on the pizza. (We ordered a whole for £4 but they didnt understand correctly and gave us only half for £3. When we told them they gave us the other half but charged us £3 again.)

An excellent experience!! The only place which made an exception and allowed us to take our small dog in. The cod and chips were exceptional- really firm flakes of fish and crispy chips! Excellent. I had the fish cakes which were lovely. Would definitely return. Thank you.

This fish n chips shop , is the best , by far , in Oban. Quality, portion size, choice all excellent. They don't need a sign in there window to tell you about some alcoholic celebrity who thinks there great , it lit up like Las Vegas , there quality does the tha talking

Could not have chosen a better place for our Diamond Wedding Anniversary meal. Superb food, great atmosphere and the most attentive, warm and welcoming staff imaginable. Most enjoyable restaurant meal we have ever had.

The staff were really friendly and the food is excellent, piping hot and the best chippy in Argyle.

Super delicious food, fish & chips very tasty and with different types of fish, the steak was also perfect! Desserts also very good. Service very attentive....would always recommend it and finally a restaurant where the small dog is allowed into the restaurant!

I have been here some numerous times and enjoyed having a sausage and chip meal, however my most recent visit ended up with a bout of food poisoning. I won't be coming here again. Please make sure you cook your food thoroughly and keep areas well cleaned.

We tried fish and chips and oysters, it was very nice. However, I cannot comment well on risotto. They stated that their chef was Polish. Other than that everything was great.

The shop itself is very clean and well laid out, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I was shocked at the cost of 1 Special (Breadcrumbed) Fish, 1 Special Fish Supper and 1 Large (1 and a half fillets of fish) Special Fish Supper, came to £38!! The food was nice but definitely not worth the money. If you want sauce, it's 50p a sachet! Another example of 'ripping off' the tourists. Would not go back because of the price. Great food absolutely delicious! service was great I just don’t understand how you can charge £15 for a double gin then the price of tonic kind of puts me off coming back I’ve been to other restaurants in the town and no where near that price. But can’t fault the good.

Came here in a rush and they forgot our order and we waited for 20 mins. We had to remind them. Food was very average.

I wanted to give it more Stars, because the food was good and the staff OK but I orderd a Chicken Burger and all i got was a little piece of Chicken, No Sauce, No Salad and Not even Burger Buns.That Just isn't a Burger and it was titled ,,Chicken Burger".I hate it when i get scammed and that was a scam so unfortunately only one Star.

Decent fish and chips and pleasant staff. It's quite small, so there may be issue getting a table, but the take out spot is right next door. I was pleased to see that they had several options beyond just the traditional haddock. The grilled salmon looked delicious.

I was in Oban for 5days with my cousin and we had a fish tea on 4 ocations. Food was amazing, filling and very tasty. Staff remembered us and wer soo welcoming, and friendly. Definitely recommend. Xxx

Ordered food. Paid. Ate it outside. Tried to pee- a normal human function at a restaurant. Was told I could not as the precious toilet is for indoor eating guests. There’s way better chippys in town that are nicer.

One star for service - paid in cash for our meal, server did not return our change but kept it as a tip. Food was good, atmosphere was fine.
