Highly recommend a visit to the Alan Stevenson house restaurant, it’s a little tucked away at Hynish but definitely worth the drive over. Very well stocked bar, amazing service and excellent food. There was 8 of us including 2 kids, there isn’t a kids menu but discussing this at booking they said it would be no problem to rustle something up and they made maca and chicken goujons which went down a treat. We all had something different but every meal was delicious. The fish was too big for the plate!!! We were lucky that we had 2 drivers which allowed the rest to enjoy some drinks but Kris did say if we are back again and would like a drink but no way home he said mention it to them and they might be able to suggest a lift which was a nice touch. Maybe bear that in mind if you want to visit!! Very well stocked bar as I said

I was lucky enough to return to Alan Stevenson House for a few days rest bite. This was my fourth stay and as always the food was amazing and wouldn't be out of place in any high end restaurant in the city. The lovely girls serving are very friendly and make you feel so welcome (Thanks Fallon , Erin and Sophie). This is my fourth time staying , simply Alan Stevenson House is a place with 5 star food, 5 star views and 5 star hospitality. Without doubt you have to go when on Tiree. Aisling and Kris who are now running Alan Stevenson House in its second year are continuing to improve the business and ensure that it is sustainable for creating jobs for locals on the island, using freshly caught seafood and ingredients and keeping the menu authentic and interesting. The installation of a new bar area is a welcome addition and they have a vast range of beverages. The Whisky selection is impressive and they are also using Scottish brands were possible, I had the pleasure of trying River Leven Ales which were delicious. I can also highly recommend their cocktails in particular the Mojito which has a twist with the inclusion of Tyree Pink Gin which is made a stones throw away at Tyree Gin Distillery, Balephuil. If you are out enjoying a tour of the island by foot, bike or car Alan Stevenson House is worth a stop. Not only will you be warmly welcomed but the business is situated within the heart of the Hebridean Trust visitor site with museum giving the history of Hynish and it's importance in the building of the Skerryvore lighthouse. I would liked to have included more pictures of the food and drink but to be honest I was just too impatient to wait. It really is true that you eat with your eyes first ! Personal favourites from the menu Sunday Roast Dinner , it truly can feel like Christmas in July when tucking in. Clotted Arran Ice Cream delicious with all the expertly home made desserts. Argyll braised beef (photo inc) Words can't actually explain how good it is !! Hand cut chips - I know what you are thinking , but unless you have these chips you will never know what has been missing from your life. Spiced Apple Cake - this was so good I could easily have ate more than one portion. I was told reliably by Kris that its a very old recipe that Aisling acquired from her aunt. Put simply everything on the menu is delicious and there is something for everyone . Looking forward to getting back for some away from home hospitality Oh and I should mention that Kris , Aisling and staff are a wealth of knowledge if you have any questions about how to fill your time on the island. In particular Tiree Sea Tours

We turned up unannounced on our first night on the island. We’d been out and about around Hynish and brass-necked it. Unfortunately we hadn’t booked so we were very politely knocked-back. No biggie. But taking a look at the place we took up the young lady’s kind offer to book for another night. We opted for our last night on Tiree. And didn’t we just leave the best ‘til last! The setting of the restaurant itself is stunning. The history of the building and those surrounding it is fascinating. Inside it’s small, but in no way cramped. It’s comfortable and cosy. The staff were on the ball from the minute we walked in. Very friendly. Very professional. Exceptionally charming. My wife and I had previously thought we’d do a main course and a sweet, but then the menu arrived… Black Pudding Bon-Bons on Tattie Scones sounded interesting, so that was my choice of starter. Soup of the Day; Yellow Split Pea with a plethora of veg and turmeric was my wife’s. I’ve got say, those Bon-Bons were outstanding. The soup was also a bit special too (my wife insisted I try it…) All week I’d tried everything bar fish, so when I saw the Beer Battered Haddock on the menu, that was the decision made. And wow! It was bigger than the plate - and the chips were like doorsteps! The tartar sauce is homemade and it was phenomenal. And pleasingly, it came with a portion of salad and not the usual garden or mushy peas, which I usually ask to be held. My wife went for the Seared Paprika & Garlic Chicken, which she assures me was delicious - I can’t comment because she point blank refused to let me try it. For dessert, my wife had the Spiced Apple Cake. And it was a fair size; fused with cinnamon and nutmeg it smelled terrific. I decided on the Chocolate Fondant with pouring cream; Heaven on a plate. It was one of THE best meals we’ve ever had. The portions were plentiful. The tastes were sensational. The whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable. I can fully appreciate why this is a MUST book venue. And I’m so, so glad we did. This place is NOT to be missed.

Feeding a party of 9 all at the same time is no mean feat, doing so with absolutely delicious food takes it to another level. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, everyone said their food was excellent and we all admired choices made by others and made mental notes to 'have that next time'. I had the platter and it was a delight - the leek and brie quiche was super tasty, and the rest of the platter was a delight for the eyes and the tastebuds. We will be back!

We'd previously been out on a local boat trip where the pilot was the owner of the restaurant, so we could check the style of food etc. The menus aren't on line, we'd normally check on the menu just to ensure there'd be something we'd want! A good selection including vegetarian. We both opted for seafood, fishcake / langoustines starters, lobster / battered haddock for mains. All nicely done, tasty, no complaints. Having langoustines and lobster bumped up the cost, overall decently priced and good value. Service was good, could do with taking care to provide bowls for shells and for washing fingers off. All in all a pleasnt meal and evening, nice atmosphere, very relaxed. One thing to note, it's unlicenced, so take your own if wanted.

We had an absolutely delicious meal. Very tender braised beef, great homemade burger and perfectly cooked chicken and mushroom pie. The jerk chicken tostados and mango starter was lovely and fresh tasting. Fantastic sticky toffee pudding for dessert too.

Friendly cosy place to eat in a beautiful part of the island. We dined here on a Sunday evening when we arrived in Tiree as many places are not open on Sundays. The menu was small but good value 2 courses for £25 or 3 for £30. They don’t have a license so you can take your own drinks, they charge £3 corkage so this made it quite a cheap night. We had the Sunday dinner sharing a starter and sweet and it was all very nice. There were about 4-5 choices on the menu which included fish (red snapper) and a vegetarian option. Only open (evening 17.30-20.30) so would advise booking in main summer period.

Enjoyed two meals here and left both times feeling full and satisfied. Good selection of home-cooked meals and very reasonable prices. The haddock fishcakes and beef burgers were especially great. Daily specials also looked lovely. Staff were all lovely and friendly and very happy to explain dishes etc. Extremely popular so make sure to book in advance. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Had an enjoyable lunch from a decent menu. Good food is at a premium on Tiree, and so far here is the best.

We really enjoyed both our meals here. Lots of choice and specials too. We had the crab claws, best ever!, and brilliant value. It's BYOB which makes it even better value. Staff well trained, lovely ambience and brilliant location . It was the best place on the island .

Have to say we went straight from airport to Alan Stevenson House for an evening meal. It did not let us down , I had BBQ chicken wings in a whisky sauce to start , followed by slow cooked Argyll beef with smoked mashed potatoes . The Cicken wings were delicious if a bit messy . As for the beef so tender you could have cut it with a spoon. This is our fourth visit since it opened as a resturant . Highly recommended .

I stayed for a week in beautiful Tiree whist on a residential writing course which was fully catered by Aisling who is also the proprietor of this restaurant. Her new venture is as wonderful as both she and her food are. Ingredients are locally sourced, her staff are knowledgeable and friendly, delivering superb service. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and the views are absolutely stunning. Can’t wait until my next trip.

Just been announced that it is now permanently closed. The owners’ other 2 restaurants, a pizzeria and a tapas restaurant, are still open along the front.

Whilst working in the area I went here 2 nights in a row due to the quality of food and well priced winter warmer menu.
