Excellent fish supper , best I have had in a.long time , made to order and very fresh- not to long a wait and busy too which is always a good sign

One of the things I enjoy when in Scotland is a haggis supper (you can’t get them in England). Lorenzo's was recommended by a local as Fish & Chip Shop that cooked everything to order, I’d always rather wait for freshly cooked food. My supper was worth waiting for, everything hot and the batter crisp, I walked down to the water sat on a bench to enjoy my supper. Everything was very well wrapped and still hot when I started eating. I won’t be making Lorenzo's my weekly choice for fish and chips, as I’m outside there delivery area just 447 miles away. But I will time my arrival time in Dunoon with there opening time.

Had my first "Chippy" dinner from Lorenzo's since before Covid began, and it was absolutely delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Chips were beautiful with salt and vinegar. Battered sausage was just perfect. The batter was perfect, not soggy nor mushy. I was very impressed. Definitely will be back.

We are a family of four and ate fish and chips here twice during our holiday and they are the best fish and chips bar none. Fish succulent and plentiful as were the chips. Very friendly owners and staff, nice and clean strictly adhered to the corona virus protocol. I would definitely recommend to everyone. Bello!!

Took a trip to Dunoon with the other half and spotted this chippy tucked away on a side street just off the Main Street. Came across a notice outside the shop earlier that day to phone in my order, so that’s what we done for our dinner that evening. Busy wee shop and everything is cooked to order, definitely recommend phoning ahead of time to escape wait times, just give your name at the door and your order is served up - simple! Staff were friendly and very helpful. Beautiful, crispy fish with a decent sized portion of chips. Very reasonably priced for a seaside town, would definitely recommend to all!!

First visit to this chip shop and have to say it was superb, the young girl on the door was very professional and explained the procedure (COVID) regulations. We went for the double fish and chips, nicely boxed and we were offered a bag too. Non greasy chips and a lightly crisp battered fish❤️We will be back soon.

My usual chip shop to go to when I visit Dunoon - friendly staff, great food, and they are handling the current COVID safety procedures well. Food all cooked fresh to order as always, never had a bad experience here. Best chip shop in the town, would recommend to anyone.

Fresh haddock in a nice crisp golden batter!My youngest had a steak pie with lava hot beef inside :) We all tried the Haggis and will be returning for more. Quality over quantity which left us all full. I would post pictures, but OOOPS too late!! The chips are great too with oil changed regular, a sign of a good chip shop.

No matter when you go into this chip shop you will have to endure a long wait. Last Friday he had no fish ready at team time, tonight I was the only one in the shop and had to wait 15 mins for a single sausage. He only open til 8pm 5 nights a week. If he genuinely can’t be bothered working he should just give the shop up.

The fish and chips are always freshly cooked and they are first class. Crisp batter with minimum grease. Very nice ! Portion size is good too. I tried the haggis supper this week , for a change. It was , as expected , very fresh and tasty.

Popped in for a late lunch for my lads while on holiday, the chippy was tucked away off main road, looked more like a hospital when I went in , but the lady behind the counter was very friendly.

Visited for the first time last night as our regular fish and chip shop was closed. This is our new favourite! Lovely staff and they were patient as I had no cash and had to go to cash machine. Food was delicious. Chips to die for! Not at all greasy and we didn't feel yuk after eating as can be the case after a chippy. Highly recommend

Whenever we visit Dunoon we never leave without having fish and chips from here. The fish is gorgeous, always beautifully cooked with crispy batter. Gets really busy and everything is cooked fresh so expect a wait but boy is it worth the wait.

This was my fist visit to this chip shop food was freshly cooked to order which is fabulous can't believe a fish supper gets two pieces of fish sure tasty chips even in the rain.

Visited his place while on holiday recently. This is, in our opinion, the best chip shop in the area. The fayre did not disappoint. This is a family run organisation, they certainly know how to fry.

Called into to Lorenzos for the first time and was very impressed. I had the Haggis Supper and my partner the Steak Pie Supper and we were both happy with the standard of food and the prices, I would recommend many thanks.

En un run a Dunoon esta noche y madrugada por patatas fritas pescado +. El pescado era fresco y patatas fritas eran bonitas... ni demasiado grasos. Cierto que las porciones no eran enormes, como el crítico anterior, pero eran más que deambula por satisfacer mi familia. El sistema de colas un poco caótica en el mostrador lleno y los clientes tuvieron que esperar mientras los pedidos de entrega personal preparado, pero en fin, valió la pena la espera.

Having lived in Dunoon since August 2013 I've tried many if not all the chip shops and takeaways in town, however Lorenzos has become by far my favourite. The fish supper is by far my favourite and one of the finest examples I've tasted anywhere! The chips here are always fresh and tasty along with all the food served and unlike other places I find Lorenzos food has very little grease. Staff are always friendly and I have many times visited just before closing and they are happy to cater and make a order from fresh. I'm sadly leaving Dunoon in October due to new job commitments and will miss Lorenzos, but I will be back on visits to Dunoon so will call in for my 'fish supper'.

Let us sing in praise of Lorenzo, the eternal one, the one without a second. It's been a long, long time since chippy chips tasted like, well, real chippy chips.SO delightfully fluffy on the inside, so slightly crispy on the outside. SUCH a lovely, pale, light colour immediately giving away the fact that these are FRESH chips cooked FRESH in FRESH stuff.Just about ALL chips tasted like this in Scotland 30 years ago, then the Italian families started selling up and a very real struggle began to find chips that DIDN'T feature the stale, pongy pong of vegetable oil that's been fried in more times than is sensible.No such abominations to the one true source here, though.

Food was cooked fresh to order fish was lovley and very well priced.We visited 3 times on our visit to dunoon deffo the best fish and chips ive ever had and i work in a chippy.Staff very friendly and good at their job will be back next year no doubt about it

This Fish and Chip shop was recommended by a receptionist at our vacation lodge. We went in as a group of 13people one rainy evening as my American wife wanted 'real' fish supper. We were served by a very friendly staff and the meals were actually cooked fresh to order. We returned to our lodge and tucked in to a perfect dinner.

Only a small shop between the shore and the main street.But they serve the best chips in Scotland. We visit every time we are in Dunoon. We buy our chips then take them to the shore to eat in the fresh air.

Also does the now traditional battered, deep fried half pizza which can be a bit disconcerting to English Nigels like me. But good value fish and chips in the (unsurprisingly) Scottish style.

Hands down, this is the absolute best Chippy in Scotland! Seriously...you MUST give this place a go. Everything on the menu is great, but the breaded fish and chips are the stuff that dreams are made of! Every trip to Scotland in the past twenty years has included meals at Lorenzo's...and all future trips will as well. Not to be missed.

My husband is originally from Scotland and every time we visit Dunoon my husband and children cannot wait to have fish and chips on the first evening ( I don't eat fish) but the chips are fab, best fish and chip shop chips ever. Massive portions too

My wife and I enjoyed our first meal in Scotland at Lorenzos. Traditional fish & chips with plenty of salt and vinegar -- washed down with an Irn Bru! What could be better? I had a nice conversation with the woman working behind the counter (the owner?) about my memories of eating there back in the 1980's when it was owned by an Italian family that always remembered you when you walked in the door. My wife and I ate our meals while strolling down Argyle Street looking in the shop windows. If we stayed in town longer I'm sure we would have sampled some of the other offerings.

Fish was excellent, and all manner of battered deep fried items available. Reasonably priced and friendly.

Popped into Lorenzos Chippy while on a our family holiday at Hunters Quay as it came recommend by locals. Have to say we weren't disappointed. Fast friendly service from staff and the food itself amazing. One of the best fish and chips I've had. I stay in an area where there are a few amazing chip shops and are hard to beat.. well Lorenzos. . best in the West Coast of Scotland :)

Everything is absolutely fresh and cooked onsite. The staff are really lovely bright and friendly even when dealing with some of the more 'highspirited' patrons.I love their steak pies and the chips are amazing.

I don't know what they do differently to other chip shops I've used but I love what they cook here. Great food and quick, friendly service.

Visited on Saturday night around 7pm when it was doing a steady trade. Fish Supper, Haggis Supper and Chicken Nugget Supper all freshly cooked and taken back to caravan at Hunters Quay. Great to get real chips. Why do so many restaurants use the Frozen option? 3 happy campers will be back when next in Dunoon. Thanks

The mantle of the best fish and chip shop in town rotates however in my opinion Lorenzos is top. Well worth a visit as a treat.

Generally good food, normal prices, and friendly servers. Never usually have to wait for too long. In centre of town.

Visited here on my first night in Dunoon after a long car and ferry journey. Coming from a fishing village I like to pride myself on that I know good fish and chips (sorry can't get used to saying fish supper). I opted for the 2 piece at £5.95. 2 good size pieces in a really good batter. Cracking value considering I paid £9 in London the other week. If in Dunoon well worth a visit.

We always have to visit here when we are in Dunoon. Hubby loves their battered haggis. If we visit in the summer we go to Lorenzos get our order and drive down to Toward, sit by the water and look out towards Bute. Unfortunately this time we sat in our B&B looking across towards Blairmore, which was just as nice.Results of hubby's meal ...... FANTASTIC as usual

Stopped here at the recommendation of the woman at the hotel. The fish was fresh and hot. I ordered the fish and my family ordered chicken as they "don't like fish". They all tried a small bite and liked it enough to have more.

Whenever we are in Dunoon we visit Lorenzos, a traditional style chipper. Despite being tucked away in a side street it is always busy. The fish is always cooked just right, nice batter. Good chips too, I think probably chipped from spuds in their back store.Good Portion sizes, you can ask for one or two fish, we always have two mmmmmm

Visiting Dunoon for a break. Having tried several chip shops here, Lorenzo's is clearly a long way ahead of other chip shops here. Will definitely be venturing here again!

Lorenzo's truly offer the tastiest fish possible; not just in Dunoon but in the whole of the UK! I've had fish and chips from many award winning restaurants on the East coast, and although they are extremely tasty, they still don't compare to Lorenzo's!

...and I'm somewhat of a connoisseur! Everywhere we go as a family we try and find somewhere better than this place but we never manage it. Everyone talks of the chip shop in Anstruther or various places in Glasgow but they aren't a patch on this place. We've also been to various places in England and in the North and South of Ireland and nowhere comes close. The fish from this place is so crisp and it doesn't fall into a million pieces like most other fish & chip shops, No soggy batter here. They offer children sized portions of some meals which is great for the kids (they come in cardboard trays. I read the other reviews that say their main meals come in these trays which isn't true - apart from their £3.50 fish supper). I also read the review that said their portions were "stingy". I definitely wouldn't say their portions were stingy but they aren't "Glasgow" sized portions that cost a good bit more. Prices here are reasonable and I'd rather pay a fair price for a normal portion of great food than a huge portion of rubbish food!I think as a family we have tried everything on the menu and a few things that aren't on the menu! The friers and serving staff and friendly and helpful. Friday and Saturday nights can get very busy so be prepared for a bit of a wait on orders in the shop or for delivery as they are a popular place. It's worth it though.I either buy the £3.50 small fish supper which comes in a smaller tray with one fish or the £5.60 two fish supper with a decent sized portion of chips in a larger tray which is great value and more than enough for me. The kids get either a kids sausage or a kids half battered pizza (no way my daughter can finish a half pizza in batter with chips!) The quality of chips in this place is second to none and compared to the local opposition it beats them hands down. This is the only place that I've tried locally that hasn't got those horrible black bits on their chips which looks like they've dumped pepper on them! I'm lucky enough to have this chippy locally to me and I'd recommend it to anyone that was visiting. Things to try, Their fish! Either a normal fish supper but the special fish is equally delicious! If you want just a quick snack, ask for a chip roll £1.20 and a great filler.As I've said before I don't like giving 5* reviews on trip advisor as I believe there is always room for improvement, but both Lorenzo's Dunoon and Anatolia Glasgow have 5*s from me as I cannot see what they can do to improve their food.

Food is OK, no complaints. But don't underand why the portions have to be so mean. There are so few chips in each portion, even my small children are often left needing more. Really, chips are so cheap to make (or buy) that surely it's a bit obvious that giving a bigger portion makes you look generous, keeps the customers happy, whilst costing you next to nothing. Very, very tiny portions.

Visited this traditional style chippy whilst on a short break with family. I went on the recommendations on this site. Whilst the fish supper was tasty, there was a distinct lack of chips. They use the shallow card trays, and were only just filled.They aren't the cheapest I've seen either, so consider these issues if important to you, £5.60 for a two fish supper.

The best fish supper I've had in years with polite & friendly staff even though it was packed with customers served fast & would highly recommend.Tucked up a wee side street so ask a local.

This wee fish and chip shop just off Dunoon's main street, Argyll Street, is quite the purveyor of one of the best fish suppers (fish and chips) you will ever find. fish is fresh and still tastes of the sea while the chips are golder and with just enough 'crisp' to satisfy the most demanding enthusiast of the deep fried potato. Delicious.

Staff are friendly and chatty. The food is extremely fresh and delicious. The men in the shop that fry will fry anything on the menu to your desire, for example a well done hamburger. This chip shop is amazingly cheap although the food is still brilliant. I always use this chip shop.
