A stunning location in Paignton with a delightful view. Welcomed in by the owner who explained things well and tended to us in a timely manner. Very friendly place and the decor is excellent. The menu is amazing and each dish was lovingly cooked and stacked with wonderful flavour. Some unique class is born in Paignton. My new fav place. 5 stars all around. Hats off to the owners for delivering a wonderful night out experience.

Minster Fish Bar is situated in the town, on a street with limited parking, but just around the corner—less than 100 metres away—is a large pay and display car park, so no problem there. The shop was spotlessly clean and tidy, and the staff were very happy, smiling and polite, helping customers feel welcome, as we did. The large haddock was something very special. Fresh, thick, and cooked to perfection in a light, crispy batter. The mushy peas, although a little liquid, were sweet and delicious. The curry sauce was also a treat—thick, with a nice kick, but not overly spicy. The battered sausage was one of the best I'd had: a nice thin beef dripping batter on a quality, meaty sausage. The potato pattie was delicious, containing nice little potato chunks, and the herbs added a subtle flavour. The cheese on the cheesy chips was lightly matured and not overly salty, and there was plenty of it, and the plump chips. A good serving of beef dripping-cooked scraps finished the meal off perfectly. Sam y Kuba.

Large Haddock, Fish Goujons, Large Chips, curry sauce, £22.50 First a little insight to the service here. There was a small queue outside which I took to be a good sign, unfortunately not, as I got inside the door I asked as I normally would if they would put me in a Large Haddock, this was responded to with a very curt and loud reply of " No we can't, there are people in front of you, wait until you order" . I resisted the temptation to walk away at this point. Anyhow the order was placed...then the real comedy began, the lady taking the order passes it to the lady who passes your meal. She sorts these in order and passes onto the fryer. The downside of this operation then kicks in, the fryer only deals with one order at once and only puts Fish in to cook when the previous order has been passed to the customer. So if the person in front has a large order you know your in for a long wait. So the reason for the queues outside and people waiting Inside to collect their order became obvious ! I think they must be going for some sort of record in slow service. Onto the fish and chips, I had ordered wrapped and had a 7 to 8 min journey home. The portion sizes were very very generous indeed. The batter on the fish was sufficiently crispy considering the journey home and the flesh inside was lovely and moist with great flavour. However there was some parts of uncooked batter which can be seen in the pics. The chips again was a huge portion but in general they were a let down. Not at all crispy, but rather bendy and soggy. ( Travel perhaps , but not sure tbh). And they didn't taste great as a result. Curry sauce was very good. All in all a mixed bag, Great portions and as such good value. 10/10 Fish, lovely tasting but could have been better batter. 7/10 Chips, not good 4/10 Service, absolutely diabolical 0/10.

Bought food, drinks and ice cream from Seafront Chippy, Hornsea on Sunday 27th April 2025. I can only describe the service here as a complete and utter shambles. Not all of order served. had to go back and collect. Food hidden under chips - I've never seen this before. Totally chaotic handling of customers, chip shop forcing people waiting to stand in lower section. No regard for disabled people. Virtually impossible to get to salt, finger etc as waiting customers in way. Normally these are kept on counter. The 2 young women serving were clueless. Customers treated like cattle. Older woman serving ice creams more on the ball. When she entered fish and chip shop things improved. We won't be going back that's for sure.

Never usually have fish and chips unless I'm at the coast, they are very often a disappointment. The King Fryer is an exception!!! The fish and chips are delicious, the batter is crisp and not too thick. The fish, firm and white. They also make fish patties which are gorgeous. The owner and staff are lovely and the shop is immaculately clean.

as the chippy I was going to was closed ( 12-10 friday lunchtime ?? ) I had a sudden thought, there's a chippy just across the road junction, not been there for ages as it was rubbish, what a pleasant surprise, what a hive of activity, ordered regular Cod n chips, all freshly cooked to order, they were absolutely superb best ive had for a long time.and at £9-55 not a bad price as well, will definitely go there next time i'm in Brid.
