The best restaurants serving Seafood food in Portsmouth South East

First time visiting last night, on our way to the theatre. Didn't want to drive past the Guildhall, try and park near a restaurant in the town and be too pushed for time. This place seemed to fit the bill, for a dinner and on to catch the show. What a great decision it was!! Other reviews have questioned why it isn't more busy. I can see why. We were early (6pm) and the only people there. However, the welcome was warm and friendly. Starters and mains selected, we didn't to wait long. Very nice hummus but ..... Portuguese sausage!! What an absolute triumph of a dish. 4 sausages served in a wonderful tomato sauce that had just the right amout of 'kick'. Gorgeous. Partner had a steak skewer and I went with a duck dish. The skewer looked amazing (and tasted as good as it looked) and my dish was also excellent. Thoroughly dereves it's ranking here, all the more so because it's not in the part of town where all the usual restaurants are located.

I nearly fell off my perch when I found out the cost of a fish dinner for two at what was Mother Kelly's in Portchester. I left this takeaway, went a quarter of a mile up from there and visited Tony's bar in Saunders house, Leith Avenue. Got two nice bits of fish cooked to order/ perfection and more than enough chips for the both of us. Sorted.

Excellent service from Ben and staff at Fisherman’s Kitchen in Clarendon Rd on Friday - my UberEats order for collection confirmed the night before did not come through (unbeknownst to me UberEats had emailed me 30 mins before collection stating it could not be fulfilled), so Ben said not to worry, he would cook me the 2 cod and chips straightaway, and then as he could see I was rather upset with UberEats lack of fulfilment very kindly would not take any payment! Do not use UberEats, a faceless service that can’t be relied upon, place your order directly on the Fisherman’s Kitchen website or in person. The fish n chips were delicious, perfectly cooked as well. Thank you very much Fisherman’s Kitchen, I will be a regular DIRECT customer from now on!

The staff were so friendly and thoughtful, especially the guy with short hair wearing glasses and the girl with low short pony tail!

Just went and got some food the chips is under cooked mushed all up in the bag and the battered sausage is so dry it must have been sat in that hot hold for ages very disappointing

We returned to this fabulous restaurant for the second time this year, having discovered it last year with a group of girlfriends. The service , as ever, was superb….as was the food. Friendly and professional…..from the greeting by our lovely host (Gio I think?) to the lovely Emma who looks after us throughout our meal. Thank you to the whole team……..it was certainly worth driving from Somerset for!!

I got fish and chips from Ocean Fresh fish and chips the quality was amazing just 8.50 for large fish and chips with amazing portions very kind staff and service was very high quality i will definitely be coming back as my kids love this place.

I travel 15 miles to buy my Fish and Chips from Mother Kelly’s avoiding several other shops that are nearer and cheaper purely because it used to be really good. However, no one minds prices going up, it’s the economy we’re all in now, but the bag you see is Mother Kelly’s new large chips ( it used to be a box now it’s 3/4 of a scoop. Barely enough to feed my cat! ), the 2 large cod were jammed in one box so when I got them back they’re all broken, no offer of salt and vinegar and all served by a New member of staff who didn’t have a clue what he was doing. Surely there are better ways of making Cut Backs! I won’t be buying from Mother Kelly’s again, but thank you for the service I’ve had over the last 15 years

Called into the wet fish shop on 28th August at 3.55pm . Lovely selection of fresh fish. I asked for a whole Brill to be weighed to find the cost . Reasonable price at £18 . I asked the fish monger to filet the fish for me . I was advised he couldn't do it because the prep area had been cleaned down !! The shop doesn't close until 5pm . Extremely disappointed about the lack of service offered. They are supposed to be a specialist shop and filleting fish is a part of that . Needless to say they lost the sale and I felt compelled to give a negative review. Perhaps they can reflect and try harder.

6 years ago I ate fish there. but today it was not the same fish. the dough was 2 cm thick, the fish was not cooked through, soaked in old oil. I could feel the fish in my stomach the next day. something terrible.

AVOID.. Unless you're desperate or don't care about customer service? One bad experience, gave them a second chance.. They were very dismissive, after calling to order to save time, tried to overcharge me on collection and argued about my 2 item order...!! Also food almost cold.

Since I moved to Portsmouth, this has been one of my locals, always a welcoming place and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. They have a greaat sense of community and what you don't see in many public houses nowadays,,, a bar billiards table!!

The worst takeaway I’ve ever had, revolting. Chips were lukewarm and soggy, my battered sausage was completely inedible, the fat it was cooked in was very dark brown and goodness knows how old. I’ll never eat anything from there again

Yummy food and friendly service. :)) Shame about the limited opening times and that the online ordering was discontinued.
