Had a great meal at halal Admiral’s Fish and Chips. The fish was crispy and tender, and the chips were freshly cooked and made with fresh potatoes (no frozen). Recommended😊

We came to Portsmouth for the weekend. Ordered fish and chips on the Friday night and it was absolutely delicious we ended up coming back on the sat. Staff were friendly shop was spotless food was piping hot cooked well. Decent sized portions.

Ordered food from this company for the first time the other day and although the food was good quality, I was very disappointed with the 'large' chips. The portion size was smaller than a small. It wouldn't even cover the bottom of a plate when emptied in full (sent them photos with a 5p for scale to show the amount of chips they gave in the paper wrapping, also attached to this review, and sent them a screenshot of my order with order number as proof). Maybe they misread the portion size on the order? I looked for another set of chips as I thought surely that cannot be all, but to my dismay it was. There was not enough for the both of us. I was also not impressed with the tiny tiny pot of curry sauce for the price they charged either. I have tried to ring and no one picked up and have sent a email through their provided address on their site, as well as used the form on their site but no one has bothered to contact me to rectify this issue. All I asked for was a partial refund, but after this terrible, or more like non existent service, I'd prefer a full refund now as they have ignored my messages and haven't contacted me about this at all. I wanted to try somewhere new out and have been left very disappointed and dissatisfied.

I call them to ask about my order and the person that pics up the phone gives me nothing but disrespect and attitude and cheek when he said that my order would be here for 22:30 and it’s 30 minutes later. Disrespectful service food is good but some staff are disrespectful.

We had Haddock Fish n Chips. Very tasty, fresh and reasonably priced. My son had lamb doner, he loved it too. Limited High chairs, so great for takeaways if you are visiting Portsmouth Harbour or Spinnaker tower or nearby museums.

Chips are always good and reasonable price a large feeds me and my flat mate always fast delivery too

Brilliant place for takeaways. Always cooked fresh. Prices are starting to hike up, but that's to be expected. Medium chips are more than enough for 2 people unless you are starving. Nothing is too much trouble. They will.always try to cater for your needs.

Decent fish and chips on a Saturday night. Great chips, curry sauce and mushy peas. The fish (haddock) was a little overdone for my taste, and the batter wasn't quite light enough. It was also a little too greasy. Prices reasonably standard, so all in all not too bad.

Fantastic friendly service recieved from Bakhtiyar and the rest of the staff at Admirals Fish & Chips! We ordered 14 meals from the menu and the team ensured all food was hot and tasty and they also catered to halal dietry requirements which was brilliant. The fish in particular was a winner, tasting very fresh with crispy batter. Everyone including the kids were happy!

Me and my partner came this evening to pick up dinner. Very accommodating, especially as we got there 5 mins before they closed (sorry we thought it was 11pm!) food hot, fresh and tasty 😊 my partner loved the gravy especially!

Customer service: 0 All staff walking in t-shirts and shorts/ no safety shoes workwear for kitchen staff either. Kurdish people selling with an english named takeway, from Menu even they wouldn’t know if its an kurdish takeway? English takeway? Indian takeway? Or a copy version of all. Asked if he did masala chips, Considering the range advertised they may be providing the item so worth trying asking. The guy tried to act smart and over confident replying “what is masala? I don’t know, this is not an indian takeway, we don’t have any masala here” well his reply clearly meant he knew what i was asking about, than don’t act smart. Suggestion: next time an consumer asks for an item, reply yes or no depending on your services provided. And if possible could you specify what kind of takeway it is? Is it a kurdish coursine you serve? Or english? Turkish? Am unsure if its any of these.

It seems odd that you advertise that you provide lunch, but you don’t open until 2pm? I also wanted to make sure that you do have eat in facilities and that you definitely open on Sunday??

Use to be really good with the delivery but now the last 2 times I’ve order I’ve waited over 2 hours every time I phone I get told the driver is on their way . Will never being using them again .

Absolutely DISGUSTING! reheated chips soggy and smelt. Sausage tasted like BLEACH a grey colour and half hour after eating half of it my mouth and throat was burning. Had to drink milk after the food made me vomit. Reported to health and safety and hygiene agency. The staff are dirty and don't use gloves. The rear of shop is maggots

Vile touched food with bare hands and the other hand he had a glove on that was full of holes and touching money and the till and god knows what else he touched before he touched all the food! hands was filthy will never spend a penny in there again disgusting hygiene

Only made one order and they got it wrong. Chips were soggy and so was the fish. The onion rings were great as was the mayo

Entered on Sunday @ 21:54 to ask if they had anything cooked ready to sell & the worker was evidently unhappy at my custom with 6 mins left until close (hence me asking if anything was ready cooked to not hold up close time) & he asked what I wanted, I said I was unsure & he then asked if I wanted a kebab, I said no, maybe chips & he curtly replied "no food, no chips, we're closed" & turned his back on me. Obnoxious customer "service" @ near top-tier level.

Good fish. However, twice now we have ordered on their website, paid upfront, and no delivery. Both times had to travel to shop and didn't get an apology. Won’t be using again.

Rwte tbis place so much has definately become a staple of my life and has also contributed to the high colesterol thats blocking my arteries they make the best chippy food here please make sure to visit (call in advance)

Best fish and chips we have had in a long time. Freshly cooked, no skin on the fish and the chips were excellent. Also the scampi and kebab. Highly recommend. Very friendly service.

Underwhelming. Bland, no salt nor vinegar on cod. Only the fish cake was nice.

First time we've been here and omg the food is amazing and the staff were amazing too, their home made milkshakes are amazing. Prices a bit high but it was worth it, definitely be coming back again. Best chip shop I've been to in a while. Thank you for amazing food!!!

Absolutely disgusting service. Usually order from admirals and I have never received such poor customer service! First tried to order directly through the restaurant and the cheeky sod tried to charge us nearly £30 for a £23 order, then we called to complain as we had a menu in front of us and every phone has a calculator these days so it wasn't hard to work out! We then called again to dispute the charge given for the response to be "oh just call it £24". To which again I answered no as it was still more than the bill. Then the food took over an hour to get here. Appalling, I dread to think how much money they have made by scamming their customers.

Must have been taken over because the quality and quantity has gone down the drain, used to be my regular and used to drive across town to go there but now charge an arm and a leg for wet cod and barely any chips. So disappointing.

Great kebab, so so fish n chips. The only I could fault is the chips, quality and the oil it's cooked in makes it look and taste weird. But still a 5 start as the kebab is a top job

Absolutely vile service. After waiting over 40 mins the food turned up near cold and half the order was missing, phoned up several times after getting no update only to end up with no replacement food and being hung up on.

Good quality, great food & all round value for money. The staff are friendly & listen to your orders intently. Also you must wear a mask before entering the premises. Definitely worth 4 stars out of 5.

Went here yesterday and a portion of scampi and a portion of the salt & pepper squid. It was outstanding; both portions were cooked perfectly: nice crispy batter on the outside and soft in the middle. They offered us huge portion for the money, well wrapped up and in eco friendly paper packaging . The service is as it should be: efficient, professional and welcoming. Was well impressed with the experience, hence why making this review. Both me and my wife have put this fish and chip shop as Best we have Ever Had. We will most certainly return here and order a-lot more on our next visit to Portsmouth. Thank you whoever served us on 14th June 2021.

Lovely kebab, excellent service very friendly staff. Was busy in side the shop and a queue forming outside as well, and open on a Monday evening as many other places in the area were not.

Absolutely disgusted was taking money from people and then picking up fish with his hands there was no face mask no gloves people in the shop queuing up next to each other definitely wouldn't recommend it to anybody couldn't believe what I was seeing

Ordered a medium chips and got less than in a tray of chips for twice the price. Food is good though.

I used this place for the first time a couple of days ago and I was very impressed, they have a vast array of menu items all of which sound amazing. The people are very polite and patient and also double checked our big order. They also threw in a couple of extras which was a bonus. They are far better than our local chip shop which we have been using for years be we will definitely be going here from now on even if it means travelling a bit further

I think this has now changed hands now jan 21 as chips were rock hard and chewy not many for 1.80 very dry no flavour kebab meat chewy and dry really dissatisfied with this won’t be going again no food on display and seems be using over cooked food I think the other guy must have sold the business on lots of staff no customer avoid avoid

Excellent service, my mum pre ordered online for me to collect and deliver to my family members who were shielding. I was unaware they did not accept card payments and did not have enough cash to cover the full cost. The staff were very understanding and allowed me to take me full order, advising me I can pay what I was short next time. Really thankful for this.

A lovely little chip shop that delivers. Food always arrives hot and quickly and is always nice. I had a slightly wrong order once which was quickly rectified with a sincere apology and a free portion of chips too. Highly recommended
