Our visit to Portsmouth was in order to take the car ferry to Ouistreham (France) to start our latest tour of the main wine-producing areas of the Loire Valley. As we have done before, we started our holiday on the right note by dining before sailing. This time it was at this restaurant, which is open in the early evening. We ate and relaxed, and then went directly from the restaurant to the ferry port. This again worked well for us tonight. The cuisine in this restaurant is Portuguese and I was looking forward to reacquainting myself to some of the tastes and textures that I have enjoyed when visiting Portugal in past years. This led me to choose the salted cod as I had really enjoyed this when I was last in Portugal. Sadly (and I have to be honest) the meal here was not the same as I had experienced in Portugal. It was (most-probably) a good example of a salted cod plate, but it wasn’t at all like the salted cod dish I had previously experienced in Portugal. I am sure that the plate tonight was a great example but the texture of the plate was entirely different and although I ate it I didn’t really enjoy it. My fault and not the fault of this restaurant. We ordered starters: my Partner choosing ‘King Prawns’ (3) in garlic, white wine and mustard, these were great and really enjoyed. I also thoroughly enjoyed my ‘Porto Ribs’ which had been marinated in herbs and oven-baked with a piri-piri sauce; the sauce was really hot and I do like spicy food. My Partners’ main plate was the impressive hanging skewer of steak, bacon, chorizo and red peppers with sides of onion rings and fries. This was a massive meal and I did have to help with one or two of the pieces of steak. We didn’t have room for a dessert, but we did enjoy what was a good cup of Americano coffee each. Generally the restaurant was well furnished and clean, but our order of soda water had to be fetched from a nearby supermarket. The manager/waitress was very pleasant and obliging, but did have some quite strong views about some neighbouring European country-folk. One further observation was that the music played was too loud, and the type of music was not at all suitable for (especially) romantic evenings

We eat early due to being a SEN family. The restaurant is cozy and a friendly and inviting environment. Some background music and pictures of Portugal landscapes. The young lady who served us was, as usual, polite, friendly, and very helpful. Timely service, not intrusive. The menu is varied and offers something for everyone. The ribeye was beautifully cooked to my taste and melted in my mouth. The steak comes with rice and chips. The rice. I can not say how much I love the rice. I swear they must cook it in a special way. It is always cooked to perfection and delicious. The portions are just right and the steak size is impressive. We love it there and will definitely continue to go back for the food and the lovely staff. This time it was an anniversary and pre birthday treat. Three of us ate extremely well, has a drink and 1 cheesecake for just over £70. Worth every penny.

Delicious foods and very good customer services.... However, having parking spaces for customers will be appreciated.

What a fantastic find! I had friends staying from Suffolk and when I go to see them they always take me out for fabulous food and I was so pleased I found this place. The atmosphere was like being on holiday, the waitress was charming and the food was the best I have had for a very long time. My friends were raving about it, I will return and definitely have the sea bass again, delicious!

We stumbled upon this gem of a place, on tripadviser , managed to get a table for three and from the starter to the sweet , Everything was fantastic. Service was amazing too such welcoming people.Will definitely come back . A must try guys

Absolutely delicious 3 course meal. 3 of us ate Sardines, Clams and Calamari, as starters, then Rib Eye steak, Sea Bass and a Meat Cataplana followed by Walnut Ice cream, Chocolate Fudge cake and a Crema Catalana, we could not fault anything, it was all wonderful. The service from the kitchen and serving staff was very attentive, friendly and considerate. A bit off the beaten track this restaurant is well worth a visit, and has been discovered by others including MP Penny Mordant, its clean comfortable, and economic, our meal was downed with a couple of beers and a bottle of wine yet the bill came to under £50 per head including alcohol. The only down side is that parking can be a bit difficult but well worth the effort.

The food was very good, everything was tasty, the service was excellent and the ambience was great. Lovely people, we will be back.
