Viviers in Portsmouth

Called into the wet fish shop on 28th August at 3.55pm . Lovely selection of fresh fish. I asked for a whole Brill to be weighed to find the cost . Reasonable price at £18 . I asked the fish monger to filet the fish for me . I was advised he couldn't do it because the prep area had been cleaned down !! The shop doesn't close until 5pm . Extremely disappointed about the lack of service offered. They are supposed to be a specialist shop and filleting fish is a part of that . Needless to say they lost the sale and I felt compelled to give a negative review. Perhaps they can reflect and try harder.

Used to be a great place for a range I locally caught seafood, but the prices are now far too expensive & the staff just weren’t interested in serving me, somethings changed for the worse whatever it is I won’t be back!

Fresh , frozen, and prepared fishy dishes. Situated in The Camber Docks, White Hart Rd in Old Portsmouth. Limited parking in front of entrance. Pay and display on White Hart Road and all around local area. Had Sea Bass and Oyster from last visit. You pay a bit more than supermarket but it's far more delicious.

Basically if you love seafood you need to come here. So much fresher and better quality than the supermarkets and better value too ive found especially things like prawns squid octopus much cheaper and tastier

El estacionamiento en la calle limitado acaba de pasar el ferry a la Isla de Wight. Buena selección de mariscos frescos y congelados. Los restaurantes chinos compran aquí, por lo que debe tener una buena relación calidad-precio. Mi primera visita, pero definitivamente volveré a visitar.

Aparecí esta mañana para una comida del Viernes Santo, no estaba seguro de lo que quería con mejillones, langostinos, vieiras y caballa. Todo esto por 25, luego el tipo que sirvió notó mi placa de NHS y se quitó un billete de cinco dólares. Pescado delicioso y fresco, el chico fue servicial y educado, gracias.

Smells of fish, looks authentic, dont go there on Monday. Locally caught fish fresh of the boat, good prices, good quality

A great selection of shellfish and fresh fish.I always buy the large boxes of frozen prawns and devide into smaller portions for my freezer and much cheaper this way.Very helpful staff

My wife and myself battled through heavy traffic on Saturday to get to Viviers before 2pm when they advertise they close. We got there at quarter to two and as I walked towards the door, the shutter was down and 2 women with their handbags were leaving out the side door, I said are you closed ? To which one replied “yes sorry love”. I was annoyed as we had travelled 60 miles and I had promised some friends I would pick up some fresh seafood to bring home for dinner that evening. I complained on Viviers Facebook page and basically they totally deny it and are almost insinuating I am a liar. I spend 3-400 pounds a year on seafood from there but they will never see another penny of mine again. Stinking attitude towards a customer. Will certainly not recommend them

Lovely fresh fish - and I mean fresh. Straight off the trawlers! We bought 8 large Gambas for £2! Good value or what! Tip. Take a cool bag with ice blocks. Also, the post code takes yo u to the wrong side of the harbour if you are using a SATNAV!

Love this place, always really great super fresh local fish. Everything from dover sole to live crab and lobsters. Great selection of frozen fish.. The fishcakes are incredible. Dressed crab and prawns for dinner was divine.. Viviers is by far the best fishmarket....

On holiday and chose dressed crab to make canapes, large prawns and a sea bass to cook in our apartment. Really fresh and good quality. Helpful friendly staff to assist.

I have used" Viviers" for many years for all my fish and shellfish requirements so for me, along with many, many more citizens of Portsmouth it always has a great choice in Fish, Shellfish, (Scallops, Mussels) Lobsters, Crabs.. It is a proper Fish Market which is situated on the Quay of the inner Camber in Old Portsmouth. It is owned by a long established local family of fishermen and with the help of excellent Staff they ensure that there is always a marvellous array of fresh fish and shellfish available for the customer.. This is a working market where Fish, and Shellfish are prepared for sale with the guarantee that it is fresh so If you love fresh fish as I do then go to Viviers Fish Market

As others have said it's not a restaurant but a fish market. We had Brill for the first time - wonderful meaty fish with lots of flavour.

Bought a bag of mussels, from Scotland we were told, for £10, on Monday. Many shells were broken. Many shells did not open while cooking. About a third of the pack had to be thrown again. We bought sea food from Viviers before, had never been disappointed. Hopefully the owners will take heed of this comments and make sure the quality and freshness of their products remain the same at all times.

As stated below, this is not a restaurant but a fresh fish market / auction. Your seafood doesn't get any fresher than this - get down there early in the day to bag yourself the catch of the day! Will also deliver using fleet of vans if you are local.

Viviers is actually a fish merchant situated on the side of Camber Dock. It has an excellent selection of seafood caught locally and elsewhere in the UK. Prices are most competitive.

I've recently bought mussels and large prawns from Viviers and they have been excellent. Also the seabass has been really good too.

Freshly caught fish & seafood. The selection is amazing & I highly recommend Viviers.It is, sometimes, difficult to choose your fish from the vast array on offer. But the staff advise & prepare it with expertise.

Great staff, wonderful location. Incredible selection of fish, open until 5 every day other than weekends but still open on sunday mornings
