Excellent service, amazing place!

Visited The Merry Monk through word of mouth. This little gem of a gastro pub needs to be celebrated. Owners were attentive to us all and the food was excellent. We all had different meals and all enjoyed our food.

Called in for light lunch, really strong menu with a handy specials board. Food really enjoyable and staff really switched on and friendly.

Havent been here for a while. Food used to be excellent last time we went for a roast dinner it was nearly cold having waited half an hour for it. Used to be a guy running it full of character and a comprehensive menu that has all changed. Its over the road from us but rather get in the car and find somewhere else

Came to get a tea to go with oat milk. £2.30 for plus 70p for oat milk total £3. I told the lady behind the counter that I do not mind paying but not to be ripped off. Holidaymakers will be here soon for them to rip them off not locals!!!! Hatfield Hotel only charge 50p for oat milk in an ample milk jug. Later got kiddies ample portion of fish and chips from Gibbs on Carlton Road for £5. Delicious . Only good thing about Claremont Pier cafe is the location because it’s not the food or prices!!!!

What a fabulous find this place was - we were looking for somewhere to eat before we went to the pantomime and came across this authentic Lithuanian restaurant We had not had this cuisine before but the young lady serving us guided us through the menu We shared a calamari/ onion starter with two tasty dips then I had the pork hock with all the trimmings and my girlfriend had the chicken schnitzel with pesto sauce and trimmings We then had coffee with liqueur- a baileys and a zagares Very reasonable and very well cooked food and well worth a visit

Fantastic cafe/lounge. Attended for the first time today for baby group that they have running every Tuesday, so very accommodating, clean and friendly staff. Will be coming more often!

The pizza was stone cold and very late to get to me. I called the Resturant and they wouldn’t replace for a hot pizza or give me a refund. AVOID

Didn't feel very well after chicken meal. Noticed they display a food safety rating of 5 when in actual fact their rating is a 2 as of February 2025 Hemel Hempstead Marlowes Branch. Hygienic food handling: Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage: Improvement necessary. EDIT 1 WEEK LATER FRIDAY JUNE 6TH. They are still displaying on their front door a food safety rating of 5, when it's still a 2. Photos available, Monday, a call to the local environmental health team.

Kebab meat is 2nd grade meat this is no authentic kebab shop, the only good side was the chips were actually decent for the establishment. Get some good meat and would be great

The pizza in city kebab is really good. it’s the only place that’s open till late at night when everything else shuts even late into the night at 3.. Perfect place for you to grab food after your tipsy and hungry after a few drinks at the club

Visited today and chose bacon roll and 2 black coffees. Had family card but cashier charged me for the 2 americano coffees even though I queried the charge as I thought they were free with family card but she said no, now 50p each. Bacon roll was served in dry chilled dry roll and inedible. After shopping, Returned for a lunch around 1.30 but food tepid and now served on paper/card plates. Ate half of it before it was cold and left the rest. This time 2 americanos were free and different cashier to the one this morning said they are free with family card. Counter serving staff were working well but food offering was well below what it used to be… would rather pay a decent price for something that was edible. Overall restaurant now disappointing to say the least.

This pub/restaurant is now called The View! A spectacular location - staff friendly. Sadly food was a disappointment. My wife had salmon and I had a tossed salad with grilled chicken! The salmon was over cooked to the point the tail end was carbonised!!! My wife not wanting to make a fuss plodded through the other end even though it wasn’t moist! As she left the food she Pointed the fish out to the waitress so kitchen would not make the same mistake again! Sadly I have heard from locals their experience with the food was simular! 100% take a visit and enjoy a drink and savour the view and not the food!

I live in S. Wales but travel to the Kings Lynn area to stay with family once or twice a year. I like this pub very much because of it's lovely location, smart interior and a good choice of ale's. However I notice in some reviews people complain about the surliness of the landlord and landlady, well funny thing but I found this to be the case as well, a right pair of misery guts they are, but I do not care about this in the slightest degree as long as they do not have a go at me directly. So we will continue to leave our women in Downham to shop and call in for a few pint's. Oh I'm 74 now so I can get a bit crotchety myself... x
