Charcoal Grill Kebabery in Colchester

Trading standards have been informed. Awful customer service. We ordered food this evening paid cash on arrival then realised we had the wrong food. We called the shop 3x to explain and had the phone slammed down on us all. This was after the owner spoke over us each time, telling us he didnt have chicken doner that's why he gave us lamb. He shouldnt have taken our money then or told us this over the phone!!! The owner was rude and disrespectful and just didnt care at all or listen. We ordered 1 chicken doner wrap and 2 chicken doner meat with chips and salad and a burger. Instead we got 1 chicken shish kebab and 3 x lamb doners with chips and salad and 1 lamb doner wrap. We did however receive the burger. How incompetent. None of us eat lamb, hence why we didn't order it. Instead we had to order elsewhere at another £32.00 The owners behaviour was shocking. Sad really as we have used them from our previous address for over 10 years and never experienced such awful service or rudeness. I think the management must of changed as the guys are really awful, shocking, rude and totally disrespectful. And clearly love to take your money and deliver whatever they feel to bring!!!!! Save your money if you want what you pay for. We have now reported them to trading standards.

Always an issue with orders. Third attempt today took hour and a half, tried to cancel an get refund but was refused(very rude on phone) . If your order comes atall it will be late burnt, cold, missing items, the list goes on. Previous reviews of food poisoning also. Appauling restraunt.

They make nice kebab and it is affordable which is good. They are polite, friendly, helpful and sociable staff. I have been there few times and got kebab which was tasty, delicious and scrumptious that made me order food from there such as pizza that cost £7.50 which they delivered on time. The customer service is responsive, efficient, friendly, quick, good communicator , respectful, professional, good delivery time, honest and understanding. The food mouthwatering, tasty , delicious , scrumptious , meaty, superior, superb and fresh. The store is the clean , tidy , modern , sleek , good , amazing , great and joyful place to go in to for life. You will make new friends for life that will make you feel better, happy, joyous and great experience for good. They will make you feel like at Turkey with their kebabs that they make on daily basis and you will never forget the taste of the meal because you will want more and more everyday with more bites. They will always serve it with a smile which what you need in life forever.

Portions were very very small, couldn’t tell the difference between a medium kebab to large with bare minimum meat inside. paid for an extra side salad which never came, out of the 3 large portions of chips, 2 portions were overcooked/burn. Been ordering from here for the past 7 years and was very disappointed with last nights food

We love using this outlet. But recently sadly the pizzas are over cooked making them a little dry and taking the flavour out of the product shame other than that everything else we have tried has been great and restaurant always happy to help with and request. Discpicable customer service, no manners, no people skill. I ordered a large donner meat and chips and got a tiny portion if chips. The man on the phone blamed it first on the packaging changing, then on his scoop and at first was surprised I ordered a large in first place. Seems like he didn't give out the right order or read my order correct. Not apologetic at all and said I was Ryde to complain. I expect what I order, what I pay for and when I don't get it i will say so, to improve service for next time. But this guy took ego and rudeness to another level. Avoid. Don't waste your money. Food is goodbut the staff interaction is not worth the food nor hassle.

My all time favourite kebab is closed down for good, it was lea Valley kebab. Been trying to find their #2, but no luck until yesterday. For the 1st time purchase from this place (charcoal grill). They taste nice and not too greasy! The service is extraordinary! Their customers satisfaction is trully their priority. Everyone there are lovely and spread good positive vibe. Its just their bread is not as thick and fluffy as Lea valley's one, but I can cope. Inan, you forgot my chicken doner! Utterly rank. Went with me father after a couple of refreshing pots. Bought a pair of lamb shish kebabs. Meat was as tough as old boots, salad mainly chopped onions, pitta fell apart before I ate it. Won’t be going back despite living in Loughton. Grim. Proper disrespect from the owner’s reply. Pretending I’ve never been rather than acknowledging there’s a problem. I drink in the Carpenters. Will be coming to see you to tell you to your face lad.

Gent on the phone was very polite and the good points end there the food that was delivered arrived cold and was not that great had very little flavour and made worse when we realised that some of our order was missing won't be using this place again

I Had a lamb donner kebab at the charcoal grill this evening as the other kebab shop I usually use hasn't been that good lately and I'm glad I tried this place. The meat was juicy but not greasy and a nice fresh salad too and warm pita bread.i had a large one and it was enough for two! Will definitely go again.

Poor quality chicken. Cheaper than a lot of turkish/kebab places but not close to the quality and taste. Chilli sauce very vinegary. Good portions but it's compensating for low quality

Absolutely waste of money. Doner meat had bones all through it: Pizza was supposed to be pepperoni but had bits of doner in the box. Found plastic in doner meat. Disgusting

Bought a takeaway today with my partner large chicken shish and lamb shish, my chicken complete dry and tasteless also the worst garlic sauce we have ever tasted not even trying to be dramatic I don’t know how they get away with selling that, I used to live in Loughton years ago and it used to be a nice place for a takeaway but it’s gone downhill so much such a shame.

Friendly people, good food, plenty & fresh. Going to use diffrent packaging, instead of polystyrene (Yukavee!) Sugar beet? & getting a drinks licence soon. Delivered very quickly, 15mins.. CASH... I will be back... Tashekorumedurum!! Ish...

Extremely disappointed with my lamb shish and salad looked like my child had made it and chucked it all ontop of my lamb that was completely ruined with so much chilli sauce and also didn't come with rice they charge service and bag charge aswell I would expect it to be it to be lovely for £9 something for lamb and salad more disappointed that when speaking to the man on the phone he basically told me it was my own fault I should have told them I didn't want it like that. Won't be ordering from here again.

Ordered lamb kebab got a beef kebab, cubes were beef not the first nor the last selling beef as lamb, why do they do that beats me. Can't people tell the difference. I forgot to mention I know the difference between meats. I was a butcher for 10 years. So if the owners are saying it's lamb please take a sample to a butcher they will be able to clarify my claim.

Cheapest and best kebab in Loughton. I used to get a takeaway from here as a kid with my parents, then with my friends after school and now 15 years later I still go there. Nothing has changed, only the name (from Kebabery). Very consistent, food always hot, even chips always hot. Very good Lamb Shish Special with the onions and Peppers. A large is a very good size as well. Just as good as some of the Turkish Takeaways around, probably better and much cheaper.

My dad order 2 kebab one large kebab n small kebab from just eat the food was a hour late they close quarter 10 so u can't phone they up. When it came it was cold n dry.it was greasy or burnt . It was absolutely disgusting the driver rude when my dad said it was hour late. Even my dog turn her nose up to n walk away. If I could I would give it 0 star I definitely won't come here again n tell all my family n friends to not come

I used to love this restaurant there kebabs were the best but the last 3 times now I wouldn't rate them at all. The food come within 11 mins so that mad me think was my food actually cooked fresh. The meat was burnt and now I will never order from them again. In top of that I ordered 2 mixed shish lamb chicken for £11 but they sent 1 chicken 1 lamb that is £8 but they said its the same so they coned me out of £6

I was astonished by the poor quality of food, their food was lifeless and a travesty. Cold old meat served with cheap BBQ sauce topped with the most lifeless salad I've ever eaten. I don't recommend ordering here.

I placed an order for doner kebab for delivery on just eats I have Had food from here before but the kebab was so over cooked and very dry and fat slices of doner meat and it didn't taste nice at all didn't look fresh at all either very disappointed

Pretty awful to be fair. Garlic bread portion was tiny and the underside burnt to a crisp. Food was only just like warm, but soggy too. Only thing that was ok was the choc fudge cake.

i am a regular customer who orders every week. i have never had an issue but recently the service has been appalling. Once they nixed up and got the order completely wrong also forgot one pitta bread when i asked for the correct items they refused delivery and i had to actually argue with them to get the food I PAYED FOR. Additionally, i have ordered again and have been told i cant have extra sauce with my kebab when every single time I've ordered I've received at least 5 pots of sauce. This really comes down to customer service and loyal customers, second time within a month i have had an issue with them and they will never admit that the customer is right. Being stingy with sauce ? Really ?

I have been getting our takeaway from Charcoal Grill for the past 15 years even before when it was Kebabery! The food is great and portions are large. The Charcoal Grill Special @ £14.50 is the best! You get a whole mix of everything including all the meats, rice, two pittas and all the salad. We love the staff they are always happy to see you and often throw in some extra sauces! Keep up the good work guys and thank you for being the best in Loughton.

best kebab and burgers in town , always order from them at just eat , very very good prices , 3.50 for the best burger u will ever have not dry meat , tender and cooked right . comes with very crisp salad nice and fresh and also very generous . kebab where do i start with the doner . good price at 6.50 amazing portions with a good salad to meat ratio . just bravo guys amazing . no wonder they are a local legend , top man

Typical kebab place with all the usual offerings. They also do burgers and chips, and pizzas. You can order through Apps and get food delivered. Friendly place, tasty food, good prices and portions. I'd recommend it. The burgers are very nice, flame grilled.

I ordered a portion of large cheesy chips and a half pounder from charcoal grill it came fairly quick they said 1 hour it came in about 20 minutes once eaten I started to feel nauseous a few hours down the line I hadn’t eaten anything else all day and eventually I was projectile vommitting from 8pm till 5 am had to take two days off work to feel better it is the most disgusting place I would highly reccomend to never go there I wouldn’t feed my dog this disgusting food also called them to speak about it they said they will call me back and never did going to the council disgusting people can’t keep cleanliness in their I have never seen one clean their hands for an extra few quid go somewhere else not this place should be closed down very vile please take this on board and do not do what I done

If they are busy, and you making an order for take away, they giving you a food waste nstead normal food. When the restaurant is not that much busy, food is fine.

I am a regular customer at charcoal grill. I ordered food at 2.45/3pm to be delivered at 6.15pm this evening I ordered early so it was done and paid for and be here on time. I even received an email to say it would be here 6.20pm by the restaurant. At 3.30pm I had banging on my front door downstairs and the doorbell ringing. The banging got harder went on For around 10 minutes. I am a young girl and was alone at this time as my parents were out so I was extremely terrified as saw a man standing at my door. Eventually he went. 5 minutes later he reappeared with harder louder banging on the door and now the windows smashing his hands and fists and even using the handle of his umbrella to bang against the glass windows. I was so scared and didn't know what was going on. Eventually I proceeded to go downstairs with my dog and answer the door to find out who was there (I was even going to call the police due to the aggressive nature of banging on my house ) It was actually a man from charcoal grill delivering my food 3hours early ?!! I explained to him I ordered food for 6.15. He checked the receipt and said oh yes and he walked away. I called the restaurant I told them what happened and they just said oh we had the wrong time. No apology no nothing and it doesn't make things better seeing the state I was in from this experience Not just this. At 6.20 pm when the food arrived this evening the garlic bread was rock hard and freezing so it was obviously from earlier on as this was nowhere near fresh whatsoever !!!!!!! It was the worst garlic bread I've ever had and I couldn't even eat it nor could anyone else. I am extremely shocked with the service I received. I have tried to find a manager and I can't get hold of him. This is unacceptable and I don't wish anyone to go through the same.

Ordered a pizza and a kebab. The kebab was just an average kebab to be honest but the pizza was rubbish. It tasted like they cooked it in a deep fat fryer! It was so soaked in grease and oil with literally NO flavour plus the crusts were burnt... don't order a pizza from This place

I always order a takeaway as a treat from you. Today it arrived in unacceptable condition. The veggie pizza and chips were cold, the salad tasted and looked like it was left out of the fridge for too long. The delivery was 20 minutes late. Very disappointed...

Food took an hour and a half although I guess just on time after they added half hour delay to the hour delivery time after ordering and turned up pretty cold and pretty tasteless. Not a good one!
