Claremont Pier in Waveney

Went for a Tea and Cake after a stroll on the beach. All was ok, nothing spectacular, but not bad either. Great views across the sea and beach.

They obviously don’t read their reviews. Place is cheap and cheerful. CHIPS are awful!!!! Sausages were a lot better!!

Waited over 20 minutes for fish and chips, both were over cooked. We also ordered an egg sandwich but after 15 minutes they told us the cooker was broken. Not a great experience.

I really fancied fish and chips, and as it was Sunday I knew most chippies are shut, so came here. I ordered Cod and chips and it was ready in about 10 minutes. I collected at the counter and took my wooden knife and fork and resat down. The fish looked OK but my anemic frozen chips were so hard that my wooden fork could not 'stab' a chip! I ended up eating a few with my fingers and left the rest. I should have complained but the constant banging door and noise in there was too much, and had to get out. Sorry, but I will never return.

Worst chips in Lowestoft. They came out white, only just cooked and covered in oil. When I asked for some more the lady looked at me is if I was mad. She’s said they are cooked and I said… barely. the fish was ok but a waste of £13 and a long wait. I live in Lowestoft and they are letting down the beach by serving rubbish fish and chips, heaps of better places to eat in Lowestoft l.

Visited ‘Piranha Joes’ on a Tuesday lunchtime with my two under 5’s. We were attracted by the promise of freshly made sourdough pizza - only to be told 10 mins after ordering that they had no dough to make them with. As we were already settled with drinks, we reordered from the small plates selection. Our food then took 40 minutes to turn up, with no update or apology in that time. It was ok but not worth a) the price or b) the wait. We won’t be going back.

Walking by and thought we’d get a couple of portions of chips, as we strolled along the promenade. The positive was the chips tasted quite nice - maybe it was the new potatoes. They were crispy and positively but strangely a little chewy. Hence 2* stars instead of 1* However, firstly £2.70 for a portion of chips - one size only and it was a really small portion. The smallest portion of chips I’ve ever had! Furthermore, the small portion had lots of scraps and less chips. So it was a small portion of scraps with a few chips. My wife, asked for some more, as it was so small, but I had already walked away by then. The young girl and boy behind the counter did put another half scoop in - so fair enough. We eat a fair amount of fish and chips in Suffolk and Norfolk and actually any seaside town we visit and regretfully (although they did taste quite nice) these have been by far the worst in terms of cost and portion size. We wouldn’t normally get chips from here, there are plenty of very good fish and chip shops in Lowestoft, but the location and the hope that they would be good resulted in this purchase. Next time we will walk a few minutes down the road.

Food came out and was presented with FROZEN CHIPS! Prices are day light robbery and the staff are unfriendly and rude! Would avoid the place at all cost.

So overpriced spent £50 on food & they want 50p a sachet of tomato sauce £8.95 for a jacket potato with cheese & beans .was the smallest sprinkling of cheese Sorry but not Impressed

Came a couple of days this week and pleasantly surprised by the fish and chips, very tasty and freshly cooked. The arcade was well laid out and a wide variety of machines however both days we came one lad kept constantly using signs to reserve the £5 jackpot machines for an hour whilst wandering the arcade playing others and then into the over 18 area he went then would reappear , I went and removed all his signs myself and 5 minutes after entering the 18+ he’d reappear and run round putting his signs back up one sign 1 machine on each of the 3 machine top boxer machines… I knew his game he was waiting for people to play the 2 machines to maximise the payout on the 3rd he was reserving…I removed the signs again and he came back annoyed they’d gone again so I said to him are they broken?? He argued they were reserved for “ a mate” I knew he was talking out his ass … disappeared again into 18+ he seemed to know the staff and think he thought he was invincible on his scam… upon leaving there he was playing one of the reserved machines so I shouted to him “ oh look he’s got a twin that wears the same clothes same red backpack and that is apparently his own friend… clearly he’s a couple of shillings short in his head…

Went here Sunday late afternoon for dinner, had the tapas, food was excellent and chef was really helpful! Would highly recommend this for amazing food!

A brisk winters day we walked upon the Esplanade from our hotel the Hatfield . At night it was illuminated it looked good from a distance . It was mostly closed and looked like it was about to be washed out to sea . We had a couple of canned drinks as it did not come across very well . Stale and in need of repair .We left .

Nice Pier, Helpful staff and loads and loads of arcade machine. Me I love the 2p pushers but there are loads of different types of machines, all under cover. Something for everyone.

A great place to play the two pence slots, part of the sea side fun just a short walk from your Hatfield hotel

Great tasting fish and chips, but pricey but the restaurant is overlooking the sea so don't mind paying. Arcade on the pier was good, lots of toys in the 2p machines to win. The little seafront train was enjoyable for our two year old daughter and the chap running it was really decent.

The staff were excellent full of smiles, the coffee was very good, ordered fish, chips and mushy peas of which the fish was ok, the peas were nice but the chips were a sort of grey colour and all hard and chewy, how they managed to get the simple potato chip to look and taste like this is beyond me but its somewhere we will avoid in future unless we just want a coffee.

We visited here on the 3rd august 2022 and it was a lovely fun day out for us all.There is many good machines in the arcades and we won many prizes .The food and drink at just winging it was great .One reason i also enjoyed it was because there was this young boy who works there who looked a similar age to me and if I’m being honest i thought he was very good looking and I literally got butterflies when i had to ask him to get a prize out the machine that got stuck which is ridiculous i know.We then went to macdonalds on the way back to our accommodation and there he was again and i got the same butterfly feelings again but didn’t talk to him so now I don’t even know his name.Apart from that being a reason i enjoyed it i also enjoyed sitting in the outside bit of the jus wingin it bar looking at the amazing views aswell as the great choice of the arcade games.Another thing great about this place is how friendly the staff were.Whether you went to the ice cream bit,the arcade or the bar all staff were lovely and would greet you with a smile.Unfortunately we didn’t get to go in the gift shop but it did look very good.Overall good family day out to lowestoft and the pier was a good way to kill a few hours

Jus' Winging It only just winged it for us. Food was excellent and clearly cooked to order, BUT... (1) Bizarre situation where bar and food done by separate trading companies, so cannot put everything on same bill like in most establishments (2) Food took an unusually long time to arrive - and we were one of only two tables who had ordered food! Makes me wonder how they'd cope if they were really busy... (3) Burger (which I say again was genuinely delicious) was served in a card tray with no cutlery (which was needed to eat it really) When we asked for cutlery we were given cheap wooden items, one of which broke when you tried to use it! Cannot help but think that if the owners/manager sorted out the above this would be a genuine asset to the town and enhance the seafront.

We visited the terrace bar on the Claremont pier today. We have been a few times and always get fast friendly service. The customer seating areas inside and out are always spotlessly clean, staff always buzzing about cleaning and clearing the tables. Drink prices are...

the pier has never looked so amazing in years. lots of hard work and so much money spent to convert the run down pier into now the most luxurious bar and arcade in Lowestoft

A bit disappointing.Tiny portion of cod about 2 inches wide and not cheap at £5.50 just for the fish.

Went to watch the Lions rugby in the sports bar. Loads of seating and TVs. Bar service excellent although no real ales on tap. My children (10 and 14) spent time in the arcade and said there was a good selection of games. Chips from...

We went to sports bar for a drinks as seating outside as was lovely day on 17 July. Service very poor as not enough staff, also the toilets both in male and female were totally unacceptable bearing in mind that all areas at this time...

What a shame. Money has been spent to create such a nice outside upstairs bar. Unfortunately the attitude of staff is questionable and lack of drinks from the menu is a joke. Please sort as really want to support but attention to detail and good...

Usual slot type and fun machines. Hasn’t changed much in over 60 years from when I was a lad. This may be a good or not so good thing though. A pleasant place to return to fettuccine all this time brings back memories enough said!

None on the staff were wearing masks and were just wandering around the place talking to each other. Just unacceptable. Arcade machines hardly let out

A traditional old pier on the south side of the river with a range of entertainment facilities and food options, worth a look.

Had the fish and chip special for lunch, freshly cooked, tasted gorgeous and even got fresh lemon at a very reasonable price. We then went in the arcade and it was lovely, everything seemed very clean, organised and staff were helpful 😊

We had a lovely time in the arcade! The staff were all lovely and the new owners are doing a fantastic job! Very family friendly. My 2 year old and my 10 year old step daughter had a fantastic time and we will be back...

It's the pier, most of it is closed off to visitors (and understandably if the condition is that poor) and while the slot machines and restaurant are probably an attraction, it can hardly call itself a pier when you can't walk on it.

Lovely arcade with friendly staff who are always helpful and polite. Have been coming here since I was a child and all my children now love it. Recently had an upgrade and now has some really good games some of which I've never seen before. Little gem.

Whilst we didn’t use all the facilities on this pier, we did enjoy our visit here. There is a roller skating venue and an arcade. We visited the arcade and it has a good stock of games with a couple you may not find in other arcades. Prizes are via tickets on the majority of games but there is a good selection of prizes on offer if you win enough tickets. There is a restaurant and fish and chip shop, we didn’t eat in either but they seemed busy.

The Claremont Pier has a restaurant and bar and a kiosk to buy ice creams and drinks from... You can also get chips to take away... There is an arcade there and a roller skating place... There is also a large function room for bands and weddings there... It is right next to Lowestoft's lovely sandy beach... I quite often cycle down to here and then walk along the promenade which links the Claremont pier to the South pier.

Funky place; good atmosphere and really nice coffee - with a brilliant view out to the beach. Good place for just watching the world go by....

3 of us went for fish and chip lunch to the newly refurbished cafe on the pier. Food was excellent and the service was attentive and cheerful. Views across beach to sea were delightful and the wine list was appropriate. Well done!

Great pier with plenty to do and right on a lovely beach. Arcade has many machines and staff pleasant. Cafe next door too.

New owners took over the booking previously arranged with just 3 weeks notice. Chris and his crew excelled themselves. Good food, great service and couldn't do enough to please. May they go from strength to strength. We were in their rocksalt restaurant and zoo club later. Everybody so happy. Congratulations guys!

Went here on a day out around Lowestoft Seafront. Not the best visit, half of the machines were either fully broken or didn’t take any money. It was just better for us to go to the South Pier instead.

worth a visit lots to do and lots to see but can end up expensive if you get carried away on the games . nice cafe on site / to the right of the arcade

Nice big beach, great, safe swimming between flags, pretty beach huts, sandy, soft, good toilets and shower, a hidden gem!

Went for the day - lovely beach - kids enjoyed crabbing and catching a starfish (Patrick) in a bucket of water. We had lovely weather so that made it all the better

I grew up near Lowestoft some 40 years ago. We would visit the beach and promenade as kids. It was great to go back and spend a few pounds at the amusements on Claremont pier. In fact I allowed myself £5 and walked out with over £6 in winnings, happy days! It has got a good selection of amusements with lots of 2p pushers, which are my favourite. My £6 win was on the London bus fruit machine at the back of the arcade and I had no idea how I won it!

This is a great place and a great beach to take small children. Miles of yellow sand. Loads of little cafes and beach shops. It might not be too glamorous but it's great with so much to offer. Tea, coffee and ice creams are well under half the price of those at Southwold. More people should visit this underrated beach.

Claremont Pier is lovely. It's full of amusements, it's right on the South Beach, which is a lovely sandy beach, it has a restaurant and a rollerskating rink - fun for all the family.

Went to Claremont pier after pleasurewood hills found staff there not helpful moaning at my children for winning so many tickets out there machines. It's ok for a hour or so but no longer

Visited the pier today with my son, daughter and mrs and have to say it was brilliant! Roller skating rink and various arcade machines made it a fun day...it's not the biggest amusements there is but certainly it was clean and tidy! The staff attended straight away if you needed them and the majority of the machines were working how they should have been.Also it was nice and warm considering it was a really cold day to day.Defiantly be back to visit.Engin

Visited the restaurant on the pier after a walk along the prom from the main car park on a sunny November morning. Just had coffees and scones but the place was very busy so must be good. Staff very friendly and chatty and prices reasonable. Meals served to other customers looked very good. Chef was lovely when we spoke to him.

I loved how quite it was and away from a busy road. I liked that it was only a short walk to the beach and a couple of minutes later I was in the sea!

First visit for several years,was a little dissapointed.Nice clean pier,good arcade area,with plenty of machines,but years ago had a Prize Bingo with lots of excitement going on,now seemed a little boring.
