Beautiful hotel with amazing views. It was a very calm, relaxing experience. I’ve stayed in a number of hotels recently and this has so much that is just right about it. It’s tranquil and well positioned: the town has charm and character. And the hotel has personality. As do those that work here. Friendly and professional and nothing is too much trouble. I heard that it’s been recently renovated and I don’t know what it was like before, but now it exudes a cool, contemporary, welcoming vibe. Fresh and modern and yet understated. But perhaps most importantly the rooms themselves are spacious and spotless, the beds are very comfortable and I slept soundly every night and woke feeling refreshed and wonderfully rested. And my stay was great value - it’s incredibly reasonably priced for what you get. I’ll be back.

After 12 days of visitors we booked a night to unwind. We were greeted at reception by Vicky who was incredibly friendly and helpful. After upgrading us to a room that would be vacant, she guided us to the welcoming lounge area. The room was beyond excellent. A lovely sea view with balcony, bathroom with copper bath and a tv disguised as a mirror were highlights along with the superking (probably) bed. A comfortable good night’s sleep followed. (Room 2 4-5 Jan 25) Breakfast was equally great

Amelie welcomed me and had my order ready to the point where she was able to greet me by name. I've never had such an experience before so it took me by surprise. She was very helpful, kind and informative about what sauces were avaliable to take away as sachets and which were available in store. Thank you for making the process smooth and timely Amelie.

I had to ask for my order, the toasts were brought to me, I had to ask for the rest, the scones were finally brought.....while other customers who arrived well after me were finishing their meals!! ! The tea ordered only arrived after asking for the bill and pointing out that I didn't get it....bad experience, spending my time Le Bras en l'air to question the waiters, all for reasons avocados on toast, nothing too complicated.

We visited the cafe near the food hall, the one that sells cakes and coffee etc. Two of our party of four ordered the scone with jam and clotted cream. The one scone provided was unbelievably small and was lost on the side plate, it would have been small if served on a saucer! The selection of foods for sale in the food hall at Dart's farm is huge why then are the "homemade" scones so pathetic, they should and could be so much better. Very disappointed at the food offerings and the service was poor due to the staff flirting and talking when they should have been serving and working. Supervision is needed and the scone supplier needs changing.

I booked afternoon tea here as a valentines gift for my wife. To be clear and fair here; I’m not a fan of afternoon tea at all - I think it’s a very expensive meal for what you usually get. But my wife loves it and I wanted to treat her as part of our long weekend in Yorkshire. This hotel is lovely from what we saw, it’s beautifully decorated, it’s very clean, and the staff are friendly, but our meal was very disappointing. We were the only people in the entire dining area which seemed a little odd, but at least we had privacy. Our choices of actual tea were made (English breakfast for me and gingerbread chai for my wife) and these were delicious. But, and it’s a very big But; the food was very disappointing. Salmon sandwiches and chicken sandwiches both a bit underwhelming but palatable, but a tiny croissant filled with a minuscule amount of ham and cheese and a pot of very cold ratatouille with 2 cubes of feta cheese on the top which was revolting and just weird! Then the desserts - some quite nice pastries but the highlight of any afternoon tea should be the scones and they were quite frankly terrible. The fruit scones were both absolutely rock hard on one side so slicing them was a joke because you just couldn’t get your knife past half way through! Definitely not fresh scones (possibly frozen and reheated?) Nobody asked us if we were enjoying our food and it wasn’t until I paid that I was able to point out our disappointment. I was told it would be passed back to the kitchen…. Would we go again? Definitely not for afternoon tea that’s for sure.

We chose The Hartley as its halfway between me and my brothers homes and I’m really glad we did. Faye was a perfect host, ensuring that our allergens were confirmed for each course with a lovely happy smile. The food was delicious (though highly recommend you have a very light breakfast if you’re coming for lunch as the portions are very generous!). The atmosphere was warm and welcoming with lots of chatter I’d highly recommend a visit and will definitely return, probably in summer when we can enjoy the canal side location afterwards for a well needed post food stroll A big thanks to the staff for making our Christmas meet up fabulous xx

When coming to ikea we plan on getting her right at 9:30am for the breakfast and the avoid the crowds. If you’ve never come or had the breakfast, you’re missing out. It’s no 5 star restaurant, but when you balance price with what you’re getting, you’re definitely coming out ahead. The bacon is almost always crispy-which is most important. They have lost of options, so it at least once. My family of 3 cost $9 in total. Eyes and bacon for two of us, pancakes for wifee, coffee and an apple scone.
