We went on a Friday afternoon for a hot drink and cake - the cake selection was limited, in the end we had a chocolate cake which was nice but two cheese scones which were very dry and the two coffees and hot chocolate were luke warm. The service has become poor lately and it’s disappointing you have to go up and order yourself when waitresses just loitering around. When complaining about our visit the managers attitude was really disappointing - to be frank she didn’t worry that we weren’t happy with our visit at all.

What happened this use to be a lovely cafe to go too! Very poor service, only one waitress who was polite and smiled! As a local couple we used to go here often but the new system in place is not great! It is almost self service but with a hefty price. My points were not put on my rewards card so i returned to queue for ordering food to be told ‘i will ask my supervisor to do it later’ having taken my details down on a scrap of paper?? I don’t believe these points will be added! The menu does not say if any of the dishes are gluten free! The cake selection also did not have a cake which was gluten free only cake bars! We both had fish and chips, alot of batter, very little fish, peas one small egg cup!

Ended up at the farm-shop café entirely by accident while taking my mother and others for a birthday jolly. My nan was in a wheelchair at the time and the staff immediately noticed this and were very accommodating. Everyone commented on the quality of the food which we all though was excellent. I had the fish and chips which was amongst the best I'd ever had, and my mother had the fish finger sandwich which we concluded was essentially the same fish but in finger format. Price wise I thought everything was perfectly reasonable, maybe not if you were expecting a "café" in the greasy-spoon sense of the word but everything I saw was of restaurant quality. After eating we visited the farm-shop which was standard farm-shop fare, but that wasn't why we were there. To finish off we all had ice-creams from the hut which were remarkably cheap and very generously proportioned. Maybe as it was the end of the day the young lad on the till had been told to get rid of the stock, but we did very well out of it. Excellent day that will be fondly remembered by all, I've been looking for an excuse to return ever since.

Went for a breakfast meeting and had been several times before. ALL items on plate were undercooked e.g. tomatoes, 2 sausages, bacon (only 1 rasher), 1 egg and sautéed potatoes. Mushrooms were the only item cooked. Coffee was cold even though we had asked for it with the food. Upon approaching staff member; coffees were replaced. Manager came out to see us; no apology of any kind offered, just I'll feedback to the cooks. A complete rip off at £53 for 3 breakfasts and 3 coffees.

Called in yesterday to have a look around and to purchase some goods ie potato salad, focaccia bread and olives etc, upon getting back home we decided to have the bread, olives and potato salad for lunch, what a disappointment that was the salad had no taste the olives were the worst I have tasted and the bread certainly wasn’t focaccia. I certainly don’t know what all the hype is over these over priced so called farm shops, way way to expensive for what you expect…

Every felt like a second class citizen?? Just because we had a dog we were sidelined and made to sit away from the main area. Attitude of staff was appalling. We were greeted by a miserable member of staff who told us to go all the away round to a different entrance which was marked as No Entry. Shown by a different member of staff who took us to a table (we couldn't choose) and abruptly told what to do and 'when you order and pay over there, don't take the dog!!' My partner and I felt like we were second class so we decided to leave. The manager rushed to us to see what the matter was and we told her and left. We went to a small cafe in Ludlow, The Snugg, and were warmly greeted with our dog. They made us feel welcome and made a fuss of the dog. That's what we call service.

Very small portions at a very high price. Poor quality too. The vegan breakfast muffin was absolutely tiny. It consisted of a small very tough muffin with a very tough patty topped by a very small amount of vegan cheese. The Welsh rarebit was a slightly bigger portion but was unpleasantly gloopy in texture. I know a profit has to be made and that the cost of everything has gone up, but we did feel slightly cheated not least because we went home hungry.

I am not a regular visitor, 2 or 3 times a year, I have noticed this shop is going downhill and I hope it changes direction. The atmosphere is really not good and staff, (all of them) on a not busy Saturday morning, looked grumpy and dissatisfied. The front foyer was adorned in Christmas hampers, which late in January seemed optimistic. The prices seem expensive an Indonesian sauce I buy at another Farmshop for 3.50 was 4.79. Customer service diminished you now have to put your own barcode on the bakery items and bag/box them yourself. ie some uncovered and open to general public handling, saw a child pick up iced bun and then put it back! I loved this place and hope it recovers. Having visited a certain services on M5 recently which I thought was comparable previously, now realise how far standards have dropped at Ludlow. Also visited upstairs, only 2 looking around and the assistant pushed between us to stock up cards, no excuse me.

we’ve been here quite a number of times in the last 7 years probably a couple too many. our last experience in september was poor. when the café first opened the standard of dishes was really quite high and good value for money, there have been a number of changes of staff in the kitchen and since covid the menu choices have shrunk to the lowest common denominator but the prices have risen. my wife had caesar salad for lunch which she said was a good portion of chicken although it appeared to be ready sliced and cold. i had beef chilli jacket potato- at least two thirds of the potato was uncooked. although a good sized portion the chilli was of the school dinners variety, no flavour, no heat, chewy beef mince with onions and a gravy that looked like a lamb hotpot. i took the whole thing back, the very helpful manager without a quibble agreed it was suboptimal and i ordered a tuna sandwich instead (which was ok). i didn’t want to try anything else cooked by the person responsible for the chilli. honestly the worst chilli i’ve had in 30 years. the front of house service and table service is punctual and friendly. though having customers wait for an available table at the same place as exiting customers paying a bill is creating a bottle neck at the front door when it’s busy. although the café is clean it is starting to fray around the edges stylistically and decoratively. the impression i now get from the farm shop café is a bit like the farm food shop next door. it’s not really sure what it is.

Having long since ceased to use the restaurant because of being unable to book, rude staff, etc, we had continued to visit the farm shop occasionally, as my husband particularly enjoyed their steak and kidney pies. We called in while passing the other day (the first time for 2 years) and were pleased to see that they were still stocking them and had also opened a new frozen meal section containing pies/stews of other flavours. He chose half a dozen with glee and had one of the usual ones that evening. He found it inedible - soggy pastry, watery gravy, recipe changed. Subsequently tried smoked haddock (watery and peculiar taste), beef stew (contained only tiny bits of beef and again watery). One of the containers was broken and the plastic topping torn exposing the dish. Ended up treating the crows and magpies with the remaining items! The standard has most definitely dropped - the only things that hasn't are the prices. We most certainly won't be shopping there again - pretentious food of poor quality!

Called in here on the way home after an arduous journey on the Great British roads. The café was very busy with a queue outside, on a Monday lunchtime. A good sign we thought. We decided to use the farmshop next door and chose a pasty and sandwich. Both were delicious. I had the sandwich, thick fresh bread and a delicious filling. Coffees from the machine were of a really good quality. Definitely call in here again and hopefully try the café.

Very good cafe, bright, airy, friendly staff and good menu and prices. This gets 4 or 5 stars, and we happily recommend it. BUT the Farm Shop itself is an outrageous con. A massive range of produce of undeniable top quality, but at prices that must have often been 2x or 3x what we would pay for precisely the same in already very expensive Surrey! Enter at severe danger to your wallet.

having enjoyed a first class lunch at The Ludlow Kitchen, we later ventured across to The Farm Shop. What a super place. Clearly not the cheapest option for food and gifts, but quality produce and delightfully displayed. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The cheese counter was really good and the wine and spirits section and some very really good choices. I satisfied myself with gift packs from the jams and sauces, but it was just nice to look around and savour. I also visited the art gallery that I thought was interesting with a good range of creditable art works. The plant shop was similarly full of ideas and attractive options. A great place for browsing

The location is great and the staff are friendly. However, the bread used in our sandwiches was stale and dry and the three rashers of bacon I had in my sandwich were about 50% fat. Went out with family (2 adults, 2 kids) ordered kids sandwiches of the kids menu - turned up great big door stops (ridiculous an adult would struggle) with slaw and some chopped tomatoes and cucumber. Then had also ordered a gf sandwich - half the portion of a kids one(!??) asked where the rest was - oh sorry that’s the gf option. But still going to charge me £8 when kids giant portion £4.50!? Doesn’t add up. Told them either you half that charge for me or bring me another sandwich - why should I be penalised for being gf?? Ridiculous ‘kids’ menu. If you are going to cater for kids at least do it properly… not suitable at all!! Drinks also turned up after food (cold coffee) when I asked where they were ‘oh that’s a different department’ - that’s ridiculous. Sort out your staff, departments, process and menu. Not worth a visit.

Very COVID secure and friendly helpful staff. However then went to get an ice cream, which we’d been looking forward to throughout a long difficult drive. Woman wouldn’t let us join the queue of 4 people because they were closing at 3.30. It was 3.18. Explained long drive , this was the highlight, just spent money in shop etc. Apparently should have gone for ice cream first. She was unrelenting. No one else trying to join queue, we wouldn’t have caused a stampede and I can’t believe that they couldn’t serve 4 people, 2 of whom were together before 3.40. First of all, I want to commend the Farmshop for their approach to reopening under the easing of Cofid 19 lockdown. Another review has criticised them for the atmosphere created , but I am prepared to give a lot of slack to any cafe or restaurant that is trying to reopen while maintaining safety procedures. I was however less happy with the showstopper cake that I was served. My friend had a carefully cut slice while I had one that looked as if someone had been hacking at the cake with a chain saw. Of course, the main thing is going to be taste, but I was disappointed that this 'showstopper' was far from a feast for the eyes. Now to the taste. The showstopper was a 'strawberry meringue' which meant that there was a pink meringue surmounting a basic sponge with butter cream and an occasional strawberry. Sadly the only flavour was sugar, and the cake itself was on the dry side. You may be getting the impression that I wasn't that impressed, but always seems better to me to under rather than oversell your product especially when the product would have been a disappointment if it was served at the church fayre.

I come here once a year as my partner and I like to come to the area for a few days during our time off together. The standard of food and of service remained excellent every time we stop in. We come from bournemouth, and arrived later than expected due to traffic, but wanted to pick up nibbles for a light dinner and arrived at 5pm. We ensured we weren’t dawdling as the store was closing at 5:30 and we didn’t want to hold anyone up...but the staff were still absolutely delightful and helpful. We came back the next day and the lovely lady at the till remembered us from the pervious day and said hello. The range on offer here is excellent and we came away with delicious breads, meats, cheeses, jams, chutney, shortbread, cakes, pies, chocolate...to name a few! We also took advantage of the fine in for £20. 2 steaks, a dauphinois potato side, tub of ice cream and a bottle of wine. Luckily, I decided to pack a cool bag with me, so bought a bag of frozen peas, and packed the ice cream and meat in there...blow me down the ice cream was still ice cream when we got home 3.5hrs later. Had the dine in food for dinner and was deeeelish. The steak was how a steak should be really showing off the quality of the meat and everything else was just as good!! We picked up some fresh veg to go with it too. It’s only a few mins from Ludlow itself so inconsequential in the time it took to get there, and quite frankly, it’s rude not to! I’m already looking forward to my trip next year to see what new products there are on offer.

The shop it’s self was an amazing experience and Sam on the cheese counter was a particular highlight. However, the cafe, not so much. We waited ages for our order to be taken and then we waited ages for our drinks. I asked three times where our drinks were. While the staff were pleasant enough the experience was shocking. Our food came before our drinks. We were told our drinks would be coming, it’s taking awhile due to the list. We ordered two teas, two coffees and a water. We had to send food back because it was sat at the counter for about 10 minutes. And the staff seemed to know that our experience was horrendous. Just a very unpleasant meal and not one I would be prepared to come back to again.

We stopped here recently on a Sunday morning after a long drive, planning for a decent hearty breakfast, having used the farmshop on numerous occasions. The breakfast was dire, with the sausages and bacon having been cooking since before dawn, virtually solid. The egg was rubber, the baked beans tiny in a thin watery sauce, certainly not a proprietary brand, and all this was piled onto the boat, which was soggy. The manageress replaced the egg without a word of apology as she dashed about, not asking how the rest of the meal was. The coffee was lukewarm and insipid as well. I went to pay and waited before handing over payment, for the manageress to ask me how the meal was. She didn't, in fact she didn't even look at me, blatantly avoiding eye contact. It was a wordless transaction. Under no circumstances would we stop there again.

A friend and I visited after spending the day at the Ludlow Food and Drink festival. We were served quite quickly and ordered our snack. The portions received were very generous and the food was delicious. Fantastic quality and choice on the menu. The venue is lovely and the surrounding area is beautifully kept. The garden shop was great too with excellent staff who were very helpful and friendly,

My wife, myself and dog were taken there by my Great Aunt who lives in Ludlow. This is the first time we have been there since +£1m has been spent on it. A good job has been done. Food, we had sandwiches, were perfect with the drinks spot on. Just next to a main road.

We stopped here for breakfast before continuing on our way home from our holiday in the Shropshire hills. The breakfasts were surprisingly reasonable and a great selection of teas and coffees are available to choose. Food was reasonably fast and delicious. Popped into the farm shop briefly and purchased some lovely marbled locally bred and butchered sirloin steak. It was delicious and again not that expensive as it was a featured special. Prices on some things may be high compared to your local supermarket but it should be expected for the sourcing and quality.

Called in for breakfast on a longish journey. Had an excellent bacon and egg sandwich - very tasty bacon, nice runny yolk, quality, thick bread - delicious.

The Ludlow Farmshop is NOT a restaurant. The restaurant nearby on the same site is the Ludlow Kitchen, which has a separate TripAdvisor entry. I have given this review 5 stars because of the high quality of the food sold in the farmshop, though the prices tend to be high. I was particularly impressed by the meat counter and the frozen meals. I understand that the majority of the produce is sourced locally, much from the Plymouth Estate.

On our way home from a break in Shropshire, we stopped here for supplies, and loved it. I wish I lived near this place. Much of the the produce is from their own estate. You can see all the preparation areas including the butchery, bakery, the dairy where they make cheese, and the place they make pickles and preserves. Heaven for foodies

Our group of 30 had the taster lunch which was excellent. Prompt service was good. Recommended. The farm shop next door has a superb range of goods from cheese to meet and many others, lots of it produced either there or locally.

This was a BH Monday lunch stop at the half way point in our 70 mile round trip on a motorbike. Although busy, we were seated straight away, offered menus and within a few minutes our order was taken. I deliberated over the Ploughman’s but as it was a cold day decided on Burger chips salad and my wife a slice of gluten free chocolate cake.

Ample parking and plenty of seating, we chose to sit outside. The fruit cake was delicious and had we been looking for a meal there was plenty of choice. The Farmshop produce was used on the menu, good and tasty.

Having spent some money in the farm shop itself the cafe looked inviting. Eventually we were shown to a table. The food that was being served look very good. So we waited to have our order taken..and waited. The 'waiting staff' must have had a bad day. it seemed pretty obvious that they did not want to be there on this sunny day. They looked cheesed off and acted in a most disinterested way. So we sat and waited for our orders to be taken. After twenty five minutes no one came to take our order. So we left. That's half an hour of my life I'll not get back.

We visited the cafe this last week. We both ordered pulled pork bap with chips and side salad. When it arrived the only just warmed pork was sitting on top of a cold apple sauce which had presumably just come out of the fridge, making the whole experience most unpleasant the chips and side salad were ok.

Visited the Ludlow Kitchen for lunch whilst visiting the area on a short winter break. Very welcoming staff and the place was buzzing with very few free tables. Apple juice and tea with various sandwiches all went down very well. No room for cakes but these all looked very good! Picked up some of the chutney in the farm shop next door. Would return without hesitation - top quality.

Used the farm shop for the week we were in Caynham. Good produce. Expensive but produce cooked on site, this included jams, chutneys etc. Therefore, an excellent carbon footprint. Worth a visit for the yogurt alone - delicious!

The restaurant has had a makeover and seems a lot brighter. The murals on the wall showing the animals on their farm and the products they got from them have gone and replaced by more appropriate photos. The menu has changed but the popularity has not and at lunch 12 midday there is always a queu,.unfortunately you still cannot book a table. The staff seem to have changed and there are a lot more and younger. The food is still freshly cooked and very tasty.

When we visited the Food Centre we also had lunch in the cafe there, I usually struggle to have a GF sandwich when I am out , but this was not a problem here I had a very tasty beef/mustard sanwich , there were other varieties available, with a side orderof chips and ailoli , whats not to like there. They also have hot food , and were qiute busy when we visited.

We stopped here and took a chance on what it would be like. It was very busy so we thought it would be good. Over rated and probably over priced. Seated by a woman who had no smile, the toilets had loo roll all over the floor so obviously hadn't been checked for a while and I had the smallest bowl of soup I think I have ever had.

Arrived for lunch and there was a wide choice on the menu. All food prepared to order and most of it grown and reared locally, a big plus. Reasonably priced and good quality. Highly recommended, clean and pleasant surroundings.

This is one of our favourite food stops in Ludlow - lovely locally sourced and freshly made food. The Bacon, Cranberry and Cheese sandwiches are excellent and the Velvet Cake should not be missed ;-) You feel very well looked after and cared for as a customer - I've been in there on my own before as well which is equally lovely.

Really looking forward to a coffee and teacakes in the Cafe,But we waited over twenty five minutes for our teacakes and gave up in the end , other people who had arrived after us were being served. No excuse as we counted six people waiting on . How long does it take to toast a teacake!! Coffee was OK but cold as we were waiting for the food to accompany it.

You won’t be disappointed with the food at Ludlow Food Centre restaurant for lunch. I recommend the Veggie platter. Very tasty combination of cheeses, breads, salads and pickles. Very tasty. The fish and chips raw not bad at all. Lovely. The atmosphere is great in this converted barn/ outbuilding with exposed oak beams. Definitely worth a visit for sure

We had a lovely meal here, happy with the price, the place was lovely and the staff were great. My only criticism was the carvery was a little cold. It felt like it had been prepared for lunch and wasn't so good by the evening.

Really friendly pub, I was greeted by Caroline at the bar who was really happy. After a long day at work and away from home this was a lovely welcome. The mix grill was really good value and enjoyable. I will definitely come again.
