Really friendly pub, I was greeted by Caroline at the bar who was really happy. After a long day at work and away from home this was a lovely welcome. The mix grill was really good value and enjoyable. I will definitely come again.

Food was great and came out very quickly. Waiting staff were also excellent, especially Caroline who made sure we were really well looked after.

The atmosphere was lovely the staff were really helpful the food was amazing we had a starter main and pudding we really enjoyed our meal and will be visiting again

Popped in for a drink and ended up with some cake. Friendly helpful staff.

We eat at the Highwayman every Sunday for lunch and will now have our evening meal every Saturday night, The food is excellent and is a credit to Sam the manager.

Excellent service and excellent food. There was 6 of us in our group, two of us had burgers, two had gammon, one had lasagna and one jacket potato, 5 desserts, definitely recommend to friends and family.

We popped in for last minute drinks and decided to eat. Food was lovely only complaint was small portion of chips, lovely well cooked food, nice and clean friendly staff.

Food reasonably priced we had 5 in our party plenty of choice. Sunday dinner is lovely. We recommend booking . Plenty of parking

It’s been a while since I was last here and it’s had a full makeover. Very light and bright decor and a pleasant atmosphere. Didn’t have a meal as just meeting a friend for a catch up but the menu looked reasonable and reasonable prices. Staff were friendly and service was prompt.

Came in yesterday evening, was served by our lovely waitress Kaci. The environment was really great and we were throughly impressed with the service.

The food was excellent and the Staff were friendly and helpful.

Visited for lunch, very clean, friendly staff and great food. Dog friendly, and wheelchair accessible so will be able visit again with the pawed and wheeled family members.

Martin was very helpful and in my eyes he is an absolute asset to the highwayman.

I haven't been to The Highwayman for several years and it was refreshing to see it remains a quality eatery. The lunchtime specials where you can choose to add a dessert for a much reduced price to the standard menu makes it approximately £10 each for 2 courses. Decor is modern and clean with a relaxing atmosphere. Food arrived hot and although it was busy, arrived promptly. Shout out to Caroline who brought out our puddings then went to serve me at the bar. I ordered hot drinks and she kindly offered to bring them over so I could go and enjoy my pudding while it was hot. I haven't experienced service like that for a very long time. Highly recommend

The staff are always extremely friendly. I am in a wheelchair and come in with my daughter, I'm always put on a table where I am comfortable. I used to work in a busy restaurant and I understand it can be stressful but every staff member is always smiling and will give you their time without you feeling like they are too busy. I love coming and my 5 yr old does too

Greeted by a very nice chap who confirmed my booking, showed us to our table. Even though the pub was busy we got served quickly. Food very good overall very good experience

Lovely place to visit.... great staff and amazing food.

Service was wonderful, three check-backs during the meal. Value for money -great. Staff were attentive and polite. A couple of comments by way of constructive criticism… The starters we had (Prawn cocktail, Buttermilk chicken strips), were served in enamel pie dishes which was rather odd, and the bbq sauce on the chicken would have been better served separately than smothering the chicken. There was far too much off it. The portion of peas was rather small on both mains (Rump steaks), and my steak ordered as medium rare was cooked rather more medium-well. It was however, a beautiful piece of meat. As always in restaurants with wooden tables, the surface was sticky. Not dirty, but sticky, which I know is because of the spray used to clean the tables but I always find it very irritating that I cannot rest my arm on the edge of the table without feeling sticky.

Fab Sunday lunch, plenty of it and hot. Lovely to see Martyn back. Waited on by Matt who was friendly and cheery even though it was very busy. Pub was really full but we were served and done in just over 30 mins. Fun day also in full swing. Excellent👍

Yes, it's part of a Marston's chain, yes, it serves pub-grub, yes, it's not an old characterful pub, but everything about this place is warm and caring. The lasagna was tasty, the chips scrummy and the drinks reasonably priced. Also, our server, Caroline :-) was a delight. She went round the pub checking on the customers, seeming to know them all by name, but not intruding. A very homely and comforting pub, easily accessible from the A5 at Mile End and a better option than some of the more synthetic options you have to pass to get there.

Absolutely most awful food Iv tasted in ages. All cold and come out of a jar. My pizza was cold, peppers and onions were raw the sauce on top was disgusting. My husbands chicken pie and chips were ok and he ate most of it !!

The service is very slow, unclean. Sweet potato fries were burnt and the chicken was under cooked!

We stopped by for a quick beer, and while the selection was impressive, the overall experience left much to be desired. The staff was attentive and eager to assist, which was a positive aspect. However, the pub's general condition was disappointing. The interior appeared rundown, and the hygiene in the WC facilities was particularly alarming, with an overpowering smell that made the area quite unpleasant. Although we didn't try the food and therefore can't comment on it, it's clear that with some basic maintenance, a fresh coat of paint, and improved cleanliness, this place could significantly improve.

Adam was the best. Would recommend 👌

Celebrating our wedding anniversary we went to the Highwayman for a meal. From the time we entered to the time we left we enjoyed everything. Starting with the food it was spot on, I had pizza 🍕 for a change & they did not disappoint followed up with apple crumble. Both we're cooked to perfection. MANY THANKS TO CAROLINE AND ALL THE STAFF. Myself and husband visited on Monday 26th August for our 35th wedding anniversary. Its was busy but a table was reserved for us. Caroline and all of the staff work very hard. Food was amazing hubby said the pizza was the best he had eaten for a long time. Puddings were very nice too. 👌

Lovely food and attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble! The activities they had outside for the kids were brill and the staff interacted so brilliantly.

We, a local learning difficulties drama club visit most weeks on a Tuesday night, when the drama club is on a close season. The pub allows us to book a section for a large group and we order food and drinks each time, encouraging each of our guys to place their order themselves. The staff (particularly Adam) are very patient and understanding each evening. The food is of good quality and all of our guys look forward to and enjoy their night out. Long may it continue!

Had the fish in the lunch deal and it was very disappointing, only give 3 out of 10.

Staff rude. Food 1/10. Food missing of a roast dinner. When missing roast potatoes arrived they were like 4 thin chips. When asked for more staff said it’s 2 each so that’s enough. Food isn’t worth spending money on. DO NOT EAT AT THIS PUB.

Family live in Oswestry and live nearby to the Highwayman so convenient when we visit. We have been a few times and Sunday being the most recent. The staff were friendly, efficient and love that they are dog friendly throughout. Ordered at the bar and Caroline was lovely, very helpful and clear regarding menu choices. The food was served very promptly and was hot and very tasty. We were checked throughout the meal ensuring that the meal was up to standard. I would definitely recommend eating at the highwayman

Absolutely disgusting. Child throwing up at the door then ran through the restaurant touching everything, parents laughing. Then another child grabs a cup fills it with water drinks it and puts the cup back with all the clean ones! We told someone who worked there and they just left all the glasses there for other people to still drink from! Also ordered a steak medium rare and it was the same size as the mushrooms on my plate and was well done. Will not be going back. Absolutely disgusting

Tables were sticky,Women's toilets poor , paint coming off in a number of places,all looking very tired whole place needs a complete uplift.

We came for the kids party. It was okay. My son enjoyed the playground and his burger and chips lunch. Reasonably priced food. Good portions and speed of service was good

lovely atmosphere as you walk in, very friendly and welcoming. it was a hot day and there was free cold water from a dispenser on the bar. Dog friendly with bowls for their food and water. Large garden with plenty of tables. good sized adventure playground for the children. A wide choice of beer, lager and stouts on tap. good food choice including themed nights. meal and a drink special offers. food came quickly and was tasty and plentiful. very pleasant experiences, we went three nights, with helpful friendly staff.

I've been here twice now. Each time, there were items I wanted that were not available. Went as a family of 6 for my grandsons birthday. Megamix grill sold out. Mix grill sold out. Ended up having gammon that was undercooked. The staff were friendly and apologetic. I understand it is a popular place to go and gets very busy on occasions. But this wasn't one of those times. I will save myself the hour and a half to get there. Won't be going again.

we arrived here at 8:47pm hoping to get some food we asked if they were still serving they said no and they had shut early because it was quiet I get it if u want to shut early on a Sunday go ahead but don't advertise that you are open until 9pm if you aren't this was an absolute disappointment!!!!

Lovely little pub/restaurant - amazing food and at an awesome price. Not sure if the guy we spoke to was the manager but he was so lovely too.

Wrong place on Google maps, not their fault, but not helpful. Friendly greeting on arrival, that was the highlight. Ordered food through a QR code linked to an online system, seemed reasonably straightforward at first. Some of the order turned up then two attempts to get the rest, eventually turning up after the main was finished , and this was just for one person. One friend had to go through the ordering process three times but only found out the dish wasn't available at the end of the process the first two times and had to start again. Several of the drinks we ordered at the bar on arrival weren't on the online menu. The pie was described as heaving a short crust base and crispy flaky pastry top. As it had been microwaved, all of it was very soggy. Sweet potato fries were OK, peas overcooked, onion rings greasy (and late), cheesy garlic bread very light on the garlic part (and also late). As we were outside, we had to pick up our own cutlery. Not normally an issue, but the first attempt only got us one fork. We asked the staff, who said he would get it filled up. Our second attempt (about 5 minutes later) got us 0 forks. Another reminder and a couple more minutes, we eventually found some on a table inside that was reserved.... sorry to the people when they turned up to their reserved table that they would have been four forks short! Wouldn't really recommend it. The food at the Premier Inn (where we were staying) was better, but we should have made the effort to go into town to find something half decent.

Food was fair, burger overcooked and pie crust a bit tough but otherwise good for the price.
