Docket No.33 in Shropshire

This was our second long awaited visit - last time it was to celebrate the anniversary of our first date - this time both our birthdays. I mention this because we were greeted with a card each and an additional surprise at the end. The whole experience is an absolute joy, the atmosphere, service and wonderful food. Some of the courses challenged my palate - in a very positive way. The attention to detail and the flavours are outstanding. This makes it great value for money - not cheap but very good value. Deservedly fully booked

This was our first visit to Docket no 33 everything from start to finish was amazing. Our waitress was an absolute delight. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and explained just why the wine pairing worked with each course without being pretentious. Each of the food courses was an artful creation and a taste sensation.

The food as previous visits was superb, really interesting and balanced tastes. the set up décor and ambience better than our visit 12 months ago. If i were looking to improve i would like the wine flight to alaways be delivered to the table just prior to the food it was occasionaly just after wine flight i wasnt convinced of two of the pairings but thats a personal choice i will definitely go again

First visit. Didn’t realise we had such an amazing restaurant close by. The food, wine, service and ambiance just couldn’t be faulted. Have eaten in many Michelin starred restaurants and this was up there with the best. Awesome 🤩

Everything from the moment we arrived was perfect, the food was sublime, great atmosphere and the staff were warm, welcoming and knowledgeable.

On September 7th, we celebrated our anniversary with my boyfriend at Docket Restaurant. As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted with impeccable hospitality. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, with pleasant lighting and an elegant yet modern interior. The staff was very friendly and attentive. As for the dishes, each one was a true work of art. Our tasting menu consisted of 10 dishes, each unique and incredibly delicious. I was especially impressed by the presentation of the roasted tomatoes in tomato essence—an unforgettable taste. The dish that my boyfriend enjoyed the most was the steamed halibut, dusted with nori powder, resting in a light crème fraîche sauce, accompanied by turnip, black barley, and puffed wild rice. The soft, flaky fish paired perfectly with the crunch of the wild rice, while the creamy sauce balanced the earthiness of the barley and turnip. Each element complemented the other, creating a wonderful mix of textures and flavors. At this point, the restaurant had already exceeded our expectations; we were very satisfied with the food and the experience, but it turned out there was more to come... The final dish was brought to us and presented by the chef himself, which pleasantly surprised and delighted us, and he also congratulated us on our anniversary. And that wasn't all 🤤 because later we were served a special dessert with a lit candle, and the staff congratulated us on our anniversary once again. It was very touching—we made a wish and blew out the candle. This was a special and unforgettable experience for us. I'm very happy my boyfriend chose your restaurant.

I love this restaurant and bring all my visitors here. Every time I go, I am so impressed with the amazing and delicious food. The welcome and ambiance created by Stuart, Frances and their team is fabulous. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough and feel so lucky to have it my neighbourhood!

This was booked as part of an anniversary celebration. We were both a little disappointed, unfortunately. It was a 9 course (10 if you include the homemade sweets), tasting menu. Food offering can be very subjective, and although presented nicely, it was our opinion that with a couple of exceptions, the food offered more style than substance. Perhaps just not to our liking on this occasion. The service was excellent.

Just had an absolutely stunning lunch here at Dockett no 33. Couldn’t fault anything . Frances and her team are so enthusiastic/knowledgable . We will be back very soon

Our latest visit with sister and brother-in-law exceeded our expectations yet again. Simply incredible experience impeccable service and exquisite food what more could anyone want? Every detail was fantastic and it was lovely to chat with our hosts at the end of the meal. Can't wait for our next visit 10 out of 10.

Everything was first class. We've been to quite a few Michelin stared restaurants but this beat them all. A brilliant chef and a brilliant front of house made for a wonderful evening.

Had seen Stuart doing a cookery demonstration at Ludlow Food Festival, so decided to make a point of visiting his restaurant at some point & was not disappointed at all. The 10 course taster menu was really well thought out and seasonal; with a good variety of flavours and textures, and the wine pairings were very well matched. The servers had a really good sense of humour and were very efficient & friendly, and it was a nice touch for Stuart to come out and talk with us too. Will be recommending to friend that they visit and will definitely be returning myself.

What a fabulous restaurant - we had a truly wonderful meal here last night. We had a family incident before and were late, and the staff was so accommodating and kind. When we arrived, we had very cosy table, the staff were so incredibly friendly and warm and the food was out of this world. Every dish was mouth watering and the portion sizes were perfect. What stood out for us was how exceptional value it was. We would highly, highly recommend and will be coming back!

Excellent and unique dishes and flavours. We were recommended by a Michelin star chef and it didn’t disappoint. Service was excellent and pleasant communication. Wine was gorgeous and not overpriced. Stuart (chef) came out to discuss our experience which was really appreciated. Definitely recommend and will return.

The new manager they've taken on is a total moron. We're having a private conversation, and she just wanders over after earwigging and decided to join in. Ever heard of personal space? I don't need to know about her personal issues or boyfriend Bob. It was really uncomfortable and a bit cringe. She also smelled of sweat. Personal hygiene is a prerequisite when you're in the food industry..

The year was 2021 ! And that year was my last time i come to Docket no33! The year is now 2024 and it was definitely high time i come back to the restaurant with missing open arms, and boy have i missed this place with a passion! And boy was i excited to come back to Docket knowing that a friendly front of house is ready to greet me.. With information that the head chef from Palé Hall was now doing, his magic was well at Docket... so it was time for the food delights as i sat down on a Saturday lunchtime sitting.. This brilliant mackerel croustade was handed to me! Such powerful flavours was come from this, so moreish and sexy.. Next was the regular chickpea chips with a dip that just got the tastebuds going. Next up was this type of white onion soup thing! Well why much better than a "soup" the Thyme coming from this reminded me of a chicken Sunday dinner ! Plus it come with a duck Muffin to mop up everything. Celeriac was up next ! And boy this had powerful Celeriac flavour, not to much that it Destroyed all the other elmlements with this.. Let's talk pork... Pork & black pudding slice was da bomb, loved this dish! Fish time and it wss cod and Jerusalem Artichoke, the cod was cooked to perfection! To a point that it probably the best bit of cod i had in the past 12 months. Then it was time for the venison loin, this main was brilliant the venison was cooked so well, could of done with another one of the duck muffins to mop up the Jus. Normally i don't do the cheese course! But having seen someone have one, it just looked the right amount for me to eat, so it was worth having one.. Now for the Pre-dessert which consisted of orange Sorbet covered on a chocolate coating, this was so refreshing and got you ready for the dessert. Which brought us to another refreshing dessert as well, pineapple & and passionfruit Finished the lunch off in style with tropical flavours... Then a bountiful of pick & mix petit Fours was placed down... So it was really dam nice coming back to the Docket, with great food, great wine, and great FOH, it's a dam sure I'll be back it the end of this year...

My best friend has been wanting to come to this restaurant for a long time. We decided to make this our Christmas present to each other a bit of a treat and what a treat it was. Wow wow wow. We decided to have the flight pairing with the Ten course meal. That was a very good decision. We really really enjoyed trying the different wines with the food. the service couldn’t have been any better. The waitresses were delightful. Very intelligent, knew everything about the dishes they served. The lady that poured the wine was so knowledgeable and interesting. It made our visit really fantastic. The food itself was out of this world. It was just stunning. Every mouthful was a burst of flavour, I’m so impressed with this restaurant, I wish I could afford to go more often. if you have a special occasion or just want to treat yourself, I highly recommend this restaurant we came from Shrewsbury on the train. It was easy not so easy getting home after six glasses of wine😂

Delicious food and great atmosphere, the restaurant is elegant but not pretentious. The chef came out to serve a course which was great. We’re now huge fans of Docket no33, well worth travelling here.

Pretty much our go to place to celebrate special occasions, most definitely our most favourite restaurant on the planet. Every course is a mouthful of wonder and paired beautifully with wine, and really friendly happy service.

I have wanted to come to Docket for a long time and finally got here. Such a lovely experience. All the staff a lovely and you can see the owners put their hearts and souls in to the restaurant. I will definitely return.

We recently came across this little restaurant in the main Whitchurch high street, we noticed it had been awarded a Michelin plate so we immediately booked for the 10 course tasting lunch with wine flight. After a few weeks of waiting for a table, our afternoon stated with cocktails at the bar before we were shown to our table.. the food started strong and just kept on getting stronger. It's very obvious the chef is accomplished, ambitious, creative and innovative.. the flavours and presentation were executed well, whilst the service strong. The team were knowledgeable and enthusiastic with just the right amount of attentiveness. The lunch was great value given the quality of food, wine and service - I don't think they are too far from a star... We will be watching attentively and definitely going back

This is a place for special occasions. My 60th birthday surprise from my wife - 10 course tasting menu with wines - Fabulous. Food was excellent and very well described by Beth (a naturally gifted server) The knowledge of the wines and all around hosting skills from Francis was fabulous.

Huge thanks to the very talented chef, Stuart Collins and the warm and welcoming Docket team. We had the 5 course lunch as a special celebration meal and the food was gorgeously presented with beautiful complex flavours. Excellent wine and coffee too. The staff were particularly attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we look forward to visiting again in future. Highly recommended for foodies and those looking for somewhere special to celebrate.

Some restaurants get complacent when they have a busy reservation diary but not here. Every diner is treated to a brilliant experience. Worth every penny and can’t wait for our next visit

From the moment we walked into the restaurant we were greeted with a warm welcome which continued all evening. The most attentive staff who are so knowledgeable about the food and background to each aspect of the menu. The food was unbelievable so well balanced and each dish an explosion of flavours. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed and you are able to talk comfortably and not felt overheard. This is the most amazing experience and a true dining experience I cannot wait to visit again later in the year Thank you Fran and Stuart exceptional service and food.

My wife and I booked the taster menu which consisted of 10 delicious tasters, I like to say it was absolutely mindblowing food every taster was brilliant the wine was delicious it was so good we were naughty and had two bottles ,the service was first class we would certainly recommend Docket 33 and we will be back thank you all for making this a great and enjoyable afternoon.See you soon.

This is like a hidden gem! The presentation and the taste of the food is fabulous. Staff, have been very well trained and again the way they deliver to the table is outstanding. I would not hesitate to recommend DocketNo33.

Glorious tasting menu with wine flight with great attentive service

From the moment we walked in we knew we were in for a treat. The decor was beautiful with stunning artwork tasteful hung. Firstly were welcomed by the friendly, professional staff. They were extremely knowledgeable and attentive. The taster menu was a taste bud rollercoaster. It dipped and dived in to so many flavours and textures. It was absolutely delicious. My personal favourite was the fish dish, sweet and delicate. Each dish was explained in great detail but very swiftly so we could eat. We would recommend and will definitely be going back.

I am running out of superlatives to describe this superior dining establishment. On arrival you receive a smiling front of house greeting prior to being seated for outstanding cuisine that is served by a first class team under the stewardship of a brilliant chef. The tasting menu consisted of 11 courses of high class food that you immediately appreciate have taken professional skill to create for your delight. Highly recommend without doubt ! Helped make my friends 70th birthday really special

What an incredible experience. From booking, to leaving the restaurant the whole evening was just incredible. Such a relaxed, intimate atmosphere. I asked for a vegetarian menu, I had my own menu printed out just like everyone else. I didn't feel like I missed out on anything at all. My husband had the meat menu and said it was incredible too. The staff all made us feel so welcome, their knowledge is brilliant. It was an absolute honor to experience Stuart & Frans incredible menu. Thank you all so so much! We'll be back for our next special occasion.

What a fabulous experience - we spent our wedding anniversary here on Wednesday. The food is outstanding, a tasting menu that takes you through the evening, with tastes never experienced before! We adored each and every course, the ladies that brought them and explained each dish and all its ingredients made the whole evening outstanding. This was our first visit and we shall definitely be back - just loved it!

Tried a taster menu for the first time. The food was amazing and the service excellent. It wasn't cheap but worth it to us as it was a very special occasion.

Docket review 13th May 2023. Docket No33 is absolutely superb and continues to deliver exquisite food and service. Last night was our 8th visit in a year and was, without doubt, our best dining experience yet! Now, at the risk of sounding like a boaster, I’ve dined in some pretty amazing restaurants - Le Manoir, Le Gavroche, Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, Purnells and Simpsons in Birmingham, Tom Kitchin, Edinburgh, Mr Underhills Ludlow (now closed) amongst others and they were all good, some in fact were very good but last night at Docket No33 was exceptional. How Stuart manages to pack so much of a punch with flavour and texture is truly magical. Coupled with Frances’ genius as a sommelier, her wine pairings do take each dish to an even greater height. Bravo to the entire Docket team and keep up the amazing work. We’ll see you again in July!!

Good quality food, reasonable price's definitely recommend

We had a very leisurely and relaxed lunch. The setting is perfect, the staff are friendly,informative and highly professional. The food is sublime and the best in the area. We will be regular visitors without doubt.

We've eaten here several times, both pre and post the various Covid lockdowns, and we've always been delighted. Stuart is a very accomplished chef and the dishes on the tasting menu are both pretty and packed with flavour... they put a smile on your face. Frances runs "front of house" with an enthusiastic and friendly team and you always feel valued as a diner. She pairs the wines expertly (and I work in the wine trade) and it's well worth opting for the wine flight to accompany your menu. Well worth a visit for a great dining experience.

2nd visit here, as it was so good the first time. Everything about Docket is 10 out of 10 for me. For the food lovers that read reviews as I do. I have eaten at a lot of the best restaurants the world has to offer, this isn't based on I'm used to eating out at the local pub. The Menu is well thought out and so to is the wine flight. Give it a go, you will not be disappointed

We went for my husbands 50th birthday and had the tasting menu and drinks pairing. Everything was outstanding, including the staff. Amazing restaurant.!

5 star meal and experience. We went on Friday for my birthday after wanting to go for a while and it was 100% worth the wait. Yes- as expected the food was spectacular and didn’t disappoint. The menu was beautifully presented and it really was well considered. Ever. Single element. (Our fave was the rhubarb lolly! Closely followed by the beef! Not in that order 🤣) I am currently pregnant and this was considered and the menu adapted to suit. I queried one of the menu options and it was adjusted to suit just to be extra cautious and that was just another element of greatness. The staff were lovely, they all asked how we were and they all were knowledgeable and helpful. Our main server was Harry and he was fantastic. The manager (sorry we didn’t take your name!!) was wonderful too- she took the time to come over and explain that one of the choices was based on her love of soup and a sarnie! She was super enthusiastic and it was obvious that the team she leads want to be there and they are taking her enthusiasm in their stride. We expected good food but the whole experience was just lovely and my last birthday meal before baby arrives was memorable and faultless. Thanks so much to all the staff- both inside and outside the kitchen- keep doing what you are doing and we will be back!

Stunning, from beginning to end. Stuarts food is literally out of this world, the flavours were incredible. This is our second time travelling to Whitchurch with the soul purpose of visiting docket. Yes the town is also beautiful but the food here is out of this world. If you’re on a date here you’re guaranteed to fall in love over the food and experience 🫶🏼

Wow, ate there last night, tasting menu, and my wife paired with the wine, Fabulous combinations and skillfully prepared. We had the pleasure to talk to both Stuart and Frances. Staff were knowledgeable and helpful. This meal was stunning and next time we are in Shropshire we are sure to head here again. This is up there with the other Michelin starred restaurants we have been to. My daughter is visiting next week and I am so envious.

In autumn Lockdown I was having fond memories of my last visit to docket No33 In October 2019.Having gaining an appetite of them chickpea chip is was literally a visit long overdue..Having been greeted at th he door with a happy and pleasant great greet..Docket only do a taster menu which in my eyes I do love, having looked at the menu and going for the wine flight! I was definitely ready to get stuck in.The Famous Docket chickpea chips are a definite 100% glad to see them still on the menu! And with a seasonal wild garlic Dunking dip, then we moved on to a dainty delicious beef tart!After the beer bread come a well cooked scallop and then a delicious tasting trout!Having seen quail on the menu I was looking forward to this one ! As I don't get to see quail much on menus when I eat out! Both pieces of quail breast and leg was absolutely ridiculously succulent!The next was probably one of the best cheese courses I've ever had ! It was only one type of cheese, but that burrata and them tomatoes was divine.Having being an Absolute fan of raspberries eating the desserts was bang on delicious! Sweet & sour and with a crumbly crunchy base.Then to finish the night off was some summer flavour jelly sweets.It was really nice to come back there! The front of house was so pleasant and engaged with you which made you feel relaxed and contented.

Having experienced the taster menu along with the wine paring I have to say that the whole thing was superb……. It’s not very often that you struggle to choose a favourite course and we couldn’t here. Who would have thought that such a high standard was on our doorstep!! We’ll be back!

Our party of 4 (all foodies!) visited Docket No 33 on the last night of a short break in Shropshire. I rarely book restaurants that only have a tasting menu as I'm a fussy eater but having been very impressed by the chef/owner, Stuart Collins, on the Great British Menu I really wanted to try the restaurant. I am so glad I did, every course was fantastic and the overall experience was absolutely wonderful.From the amazing chickpea chips with wild garlic and dry aged beef with white soy and truffle, excellent bread, beautiful scallops, soft, perfectly cooked quail breast with a lovely confit'ed leg, to the smoothest of smooth raspberry cremeaux, everything was faultless. The little pear beignet served as a petit four was the best beignet I've ever had, light and fluffy and a great end to a memorable meal.The wines we chose (we didn't have the accompanying wine flight) were also excellent. The service was perfect, the 3 hours we spent there flew by and we never felt rushed but neither were there any long gaps, each course flowed seamlessly into the next. Frances was a lovely hostess and Stuart left the kitchen at the end of the evening to speak to the diners. It's honestly hard to overstate how brilliant the whole evening was - food and service was just right, all in all a really slick operation. If ever in the area again, the first thing I'd do would be to book a table here.

Fantastic tasting menu with drinks pairing and cheese course. New tastes and ingredients, served with minimal fuss, but massive enthusiasm by a knowledgable and dedicated team.We cannot wait to go back, the ethos of local quality ingredients shines through, right down to an amazing beer bread and butter served with our Scallops.The wines took us all around the world from Kent to Spain, Greece and New Zealand, chosen with real skill by Frances and the team to bring the dishes to life.We feel blessed to have this quality of food on our doorstep.

We love everything about Docket 33 from the creative and beautifully prepared food, to the wine pairings and the genuinely warm and welcoming team. Today we went to enjoy Stuart’s winning central region menu from “the Great British menu”. It was everything we expected and so much more. Truly outstanding. Fresh local produce transformed into stunning dishes which are creatively presented - and accompanied by delicious wines. Why go anywhere else !!

What a fantastic night. Cannot rave about it enough. It was the first night out me and the wife have had without the kids in sooo long and it did not disappoint. The service was friendly and the food was fantastic, which was equally matched by Fran who was simply amazing. 100% looking forward to when we can visit again (also I really need that bread recipe as not sure I can eat any other type of bread again!!!). Loved it.

What a wonderful dining experience we had on Saturday, each course blew us away. Our Quail was just so perfect we knew nothing could beat it………. until we tasted the raspberry, vanilla, yuzu & wood sorrel-this was just amazingly good and have no idea how Stuart created this heaven on a plate. Frances was just the perfect host - but then she always is!!!Look forward to our next visit

Could not rate this place enough. The food was sublime. The waiters/waitresses were wonderful and the information regarding the food we were eating along with the wine that complimented the food was second to none. A perfect evening had by all!
