Hmm. The setting could potentially be quite promising, with a sea view and a castle framing it on one side. But the ambience was ruined by the sound of over-pumped muzak and the pervading smell of other-people's fish, and nevertheless one was expected to pay a rather high price for the dubious pleasure. If pricy cod disco ain't your thing, this might not be the ideal choice.

Great location, font get me wrong. But the menu seemed to be a little limited? Ans strughled to choose what to have. There were 10 of us, and service seemed a little slow. We love our wine, but we had to get the attention of one of the waiters when the bottles were empty. Surely keeping an eye on levels and being proactive can be a better experience? It's not just a criticism of The George but could be in general with other pubs/restaraunts. Food when chosen and served was good however.

This was the worst experience. Having booked private dining for our family to celebrate my wife’s 80th Birthday we were told, when we arrived, that that area had been given to another ( larger ) group and that a table had been laid for us in the main dining area. Even though we showed the lady manager written confirmation of our original booking she would not change us around. Having, reluctantly accepted the change, we then waited 40 minutes before someone came to take our order for drinks. This order included a bottle of Champagne which was then taken all round the restaurant before being brought to us. Obviously a lack of communication between the staff. The food when it finally arrived was partly okay but mostly poor quality. I have e-mailed the George twice since then but have yet to receive the courtesy of a response. Sums up the venue really. Do not go there for a special occasion, treat it as a very average pub.

On arrival the head of house was quite rude, didn’t really speak just complained about the computer being slow, wasn’t very welcoming, we had booked a table outside but it had rained in the day so we sat behind the glass near the outside bar, we ordered sirloin steak it was extremely dry and tough, we will not be returning as it was very expensive for what you get. The upkeep on the building and gardens are very rundown, makes it look very untidy, very disappointing.

We have visited the George several times for lunch, so we had high expectations. Unfortunately we were disappointed, as the menu selection was not as good, with very limited starters, and the main courses were ok, including the good pasta, prawn and chilli, but the seafood platter for two was expensive, and even though looked impressive, served on the ice, the amount of ice/water soon meany that most of the fish platter was swimming in water. The good news is that the staff recognised the poor display, serving and deducted the platter from our bill, so thankyou.. However, all in all not a great experience, we have had better, and as such we will need to look for alternative dining options next time we visit Yarmouth

What a waste of time. We went to have a few drinks and have a late lunch in the garden which has nice sea views. When we arrived the gate to the garden was displaying a sign saying "bookings only in the garden". There were many available tables but we were told due to staff shortages we could not come in. We said we were happy to just collect our own drinks at the bar and not have food. But this was apparently not possible, it was table service only, and we would not be allowed to visit the bar, despite a barman being present. Fortunately the Bugle across the road came to our rescue where we were not only allowed to collect our drinks at the bar, but also provided with some great food. My advice, give the over priced, under staffed George a miss.

Food ok but very overpriced. Nothing special eg pizza is just a regular woodfired pizza but with a big price tag and not much topping! I guess for the price of our meal I would have expected something a little different than you'd get from an average price. Having said that none of us had any seafood and maybe that's the option to go for.

Very disappointing, supposed to be one of the top restaurants on the island. Very expensive for the quality of food. Firstly it is a limited menu ,but they were out of lobster. The beef tartare was the smallest I have ever had and missing an egg yoke The risotto and trofeo pasta were both servedluke warm, but the biggest rip off was the lamb which was meant to be shared at £21 per person it was supposed to be Moroccan spices but certainly did not taste of any spices.it was not served with any sides not even cous cous we had to pay a further £9 for beans and Jersey potatoes ,which this time of year should have been simply boiled with butter certainly not sautéed as they were. Lastly £7.00 for a pint of bitter ridiculous!

We booked outdoor seating for 8pm. Bookings were open until 8:30, we didn't feel this would be too late. We stood at the check in stand for 5 minutes before our presence was acknowledged. We were seated outdoors and the view was amazing! Unfortunately we needed to wait for an extensive period prior to placing our drinks order. We also needed to use the flashlights on our phones to read the menu. Table lighting was very poor. Drinks arrived at the same time as the food. We immediately cancelled our bottle of wine as we would no longer need it. One of the four drinks was incorrect. Wait staff stated they had no control over the drinks, they merely deliver said drinks. When I worked table service, verifying the order was part of the job. This has changed? In a very expensive restaurant? The food as delivered was delicious. It was, however, very difficult to remove the shell from the tiger prawns in one of the dishes in the dark. Cell phone flashlights were again deployed. There was no dish provided to place the very large prawn shells. The server disappeared, not to be seen again until the bill was requested by waving down said server. An adjoining diner, stopped by our table on the way out, identified himself as a native Wight resident and apologized for the poor service and said he was embarrassed for the area. We had already noted that he had successfully requested the removal of the automatically added service fee from his bill while expressing his displeasure with the service. (We also had the fee removed) OK - so, fabulous food, great view of the pier. But we were unable to see our food and the service was horrendous. Don't waste your money here - the Terrace a few doors down was SO much better.

We had lunch outside for my mother in law’s 70th birthday. The last time we were here about 4 years ago it was wonderful. This time the atmosphere was spoilt by irritating loud bass thumping music. I asked for the volume to be turned down but the staff said they weren’t allowed to. Such a great shame. They say they have a smart casual dress code but they let a group in wearing cycling attire. The menu is pricey as it’s supposed to be fine dining but then they also sell cheap pizzas. I think they need to decide what market they’re aiming for. My main course was pasta with just 2 king prawns which was very poor value for £33. For that price I expect more prawns. We won’t be returning. But if you like loud thumping music and pizza then go for it.

Very disappointing meal and definitely not worth the money. My starter of buffalo mozzarella and tomato was just that with three small strips of garlic pizza bread on a side plate which tasted of nothing. For my main I chose the crab pasta dish which was tasteless and a very small portion and not worth £27. We asked for Pinot Grigio but they didn’t have it on the menu. As we are in the middle of a pandemic I did not feel safe. Only about half the staff wore masks. The manager and both our waiters did not wear one and did not social distance. The setting is beautiful, right on the water but as it was dark we didn’t see anything. As we left we walked through the garden as did other diners only to find out the gate was locked. The manager had watched us all leave but didn’t think to tell us to use the main front door. Very poor experience.

Have been twice in the last ten days. First time at a weekend. The service was more apologetic than efficient. We were in no hurry but the mains arrived before the starters. Mains went back and did not reappear for over an hour. Went there yesterday, Monday August, only half of the drinks arrived and had to be chased twice. The time between starters and mains was an hour and a half! When paying we asked if they were in the government scheme for a £10/head reduction. The man with the card machine said no. I said that's disappointing. He replied "it is for you"! Needless to say it's back to "The Hut" in Colwell Bay.

We booked a table for 4 outside on Saturday evening. What a beautiful location. Let down by the food, the prices, the service and the nonchalance of staff. If only it had matched up to previous visits when we had eaten there under the old management..We had to wait over an hour for the food to arrive. We saw a waitress serving drinks holding the top of glasses as she passed them to the diners. NO STAFF wear masks or glovesIt was cold and windy so we asked for blankets- to be told that this was not possible. and then saw that other diners were given them. Mixed message. We asked for the wall heater to be switched on - and were told they were on but didn't give any heat out. We wanted Bloody Marys to drink - but they claimed they didn't have the ingredients. The fish soup was ok - but such a small bowl!We ordered chips to go with the catch of the day - they never arrived. The waitress didn't even seem to know what the catch of the day was - but had guessed (correctly) that it was plaice. Two burgers, the size of a baby's fist, costing nearly £20 were rubbery, chewy and over cooked. And one of the diners was severely ill in the night; this was all she had eaten. The napkins are 3" square - hardly big enough to wipe your mouth with I have sent three emails to the hotel, to the new owner, and all are ignored; which basically means they just dont care about guest feed backTheir prices are ridiculously high for the portions served.

Service at this restaurant is almost non existent. Needed to request cutlery and finally got up to collect myself. Also, had to go to request a waiter attend us to take our order after waiting approx half an hour ! Began to get tired of having to go in search of waiters to request different items, Suggested to ‘The Host’ that maybe it would be easier for them if we seated ourselves in better view and a bit nearer Waited over one and a half hours for our fillet steaks. Was just about to get up and leave when waiter finally arrived. Extremely shocked at the standard, or should I say lack of standard in the service at this restaurant and might I add the worst I have encountered in my 64 years ! ‘The Host’ obviously needs to fulfil his role by improving his staff organisation. We were beginning to think it would have been easier to go next door to the cafe for our lunch. However, finally on arrival, I must say the steaks were delicious and that saved the day. Would not be able to recommend eating here unless you have the patience of a saint and you don’t mind a bit of self service !

Lunch in the garden on a warm, sunny day was a recipe for a very enjoyable time and in the main it was. Our visit was to celebrate a relatives 60th wedding anniversary. The George was fully aware of this special event and even confirmed they had this information the day before our visit. Unfortunately no reference was made, no congratulations offered. It is these touches that make a dining experience special and in this The George failed. The food was good, especially the Catch of the Day. The service mediocre as both the water and wine had to be chased.Excellent location and although not cheap will most probably visit again in the future.

Went for friend’s birthday lunch . 3 of the starters were Wrong. Not what we ordered. We then sat for a good half hour waiting for our empty plates to be cleared. One of the children had ordered as a main, an adult starter of prawns with fries. This arrived with the other starters although we had been quite clear it was wanted as a main. All main courses were pricey, small and came without any vegetables. Two of the party ordered lobster and fries. The fries arrived a good 30 minutes before any of the mains so were sent back. They then came when we were all finished. One of the party had a small portion of mussels as a started whilst two had large portions as mains. They were all the same size although different prices. The main mussels came with nothing else, no bread or fries. We had to ask for bowls for the shells. The child’s portion of prawns consisted of 3 prawns which were all very soggy.By this time we had lost the will to live and decided to forgo puddings. When the bill came this was also incorrect!A real shame as this was a special birthday treat.

This is a lovely spot, the restaurant and terrace have beautiful views, and it’s spacious and comfortable. The food is fine, not outstanding but perfectly good enough. Portions maybe a little small. I didn’t pay but I have the clear impression it is rather expensive. But the service is very very patchy. Ridiculously long waits (30 minutes for a cheese course, when we asked for the third time the waiter said ‘oh they are just putting the crackers out’ hehehe) and often very hard to catch a waiter’s eye. And some downright weirdness. The table was laid with side plates and butter knives. We were not offered bread, and when we asked about the purpose of the side plates were told that we could pay for bread... this place could be wonderful. The setting is beautiful and Yarmouth very charming. But they need to get a serious manager in and invest in some staff training.

Nice food and great location but every drink served at our table (except the jug of water) was spilt over either the table or butter plate or the bread. No apologies. Over-filled glasses. The service was simply laughable - aside from one young lady on duty. I would have re-trained the lot of them. We checked with a number of other tables both inside and out and the response was consistently "we're glad it not just us then, they don't know what they're doing". While polite enough, incorrect drinks came including a glass of white wine instead of red, food orders were forgotten, they argued about the menu items and did not provide the attentiveness one expects at even an average quality restaurant. Despite being explicitly told face-to-face when making the booking the day before, that the restaurant was highly flexible (and you were only about 25% full) we were told the chef could not accommodate any changes whatsoever to the menu items (too busy) - what a joke. A quality kitchen should always be able to make small changes or rustle up a simple vanilla ice cream desert. When I enquired why it was not possible to have this I was told it was because the ice cream and jelly was already mixed. I pointed out that this would be a health and safety issue as one requires -18 degrees C and the other +3 to +5 degrees C and a pre-mixed batch would not work. They then admitted that they had made this up and it was not correct and changed the story. The waiter finally admitted that the chef had shouted at him already for accepting changes to the menu and that he was now insisting that all orders came as described. As manager you need to stop living in denial and dreaming that your staff are amazing and professional. You need to help them by re-training on how to serve customers properly and how to treat customers respectfully (not lying). You need to have a serious word with your chef / kitchen and get them to show more flexibility and stop being so high and mighty. You are NOT the Fat Duck in Bray. I expect a proper response to this very serious review. I have tried to show some balance and the food was indeed good.

I have been a regular for over 20 years. What has happened to the George? Friendly staff - yes but we were rushed to make an order upon arrival at 830. I actually felt like I was negotiating for a time and we insisted we were going to have drink at the bar first. Food was out before we had time to breathe. Less than 5 mins from ordering and we were still having a drink at the bar. I think I was a quarter of th way through mine. It took four people to bring out the food which was so insubstantial that we left still hungry. No sides and no suggestion that we should order some veg or something. No bread brought out until we asked. I think we were actually charged for the bread. The whole service was so weird. We actually laughed about how weird it was and agree not to bother with desserts in favour of going to the Kings Head for some normality.

Yesterday was our Golden Wedding Aniversary so although recent Trip Advisor reviews were poor we decided that Isla's fine dining restaurant can't be that bad so we booked a table well in advance as advised on the website.Big mistake. We went into reception at the front of the Hotel where the restaurant is sited and checked in but were guided to the back of the building to where the Brasserie is.I asked where we were going to dine but my question was ignored and we were told to wait in the bar whilst the waiter was informed of our arrival.Something was obviously not right so I had a look into Isla's and it was obviously closed. We were eventually given fine dining menus and I again asked the question,as expected it was to be in the Brasserie. There was no explanation,no apology and the waiter disappeared never to be seen again. We waited and waited and waited,35 minutes later a pleasant young man who was serving in the bar asked us if we were OK and unfortunately got the full force of my normally placid wife's anger and frustration. We walked out.Our once in a lifetime celebration was ruined by the arrogant and pompous way we were treated, they not only moved us from the fine dining experience we were expecting and still going to be charged for but they obviously couldn't fit us in either. The incompetence was staggering. The lesson is don't ignore bad reviews on Trip Advisor.

Went here for dinner to celebrate our anniversary, expecting a fine dining kind of experience. When we arrived the maitre d'hotel told us to go wait in the bar while he did some paperwork, when we got our table we had to wait a quarter of an hour to make our order on a quiet Monday night, when the food came my wife had moules marinieres spilled in her lap and had to ask for a napkin even then, while I got a rare medium steak and no steak knife, and neither of my first choice dishes was available. Both tables near us had complaints of their own. Not a recommendable experience unfortunately.

Between the Yarmouth Pier and the Isle of Wight ferry terminal this is an ideal venue for a sunny afternoon. The outside seating goes down to the waterfront, quiet, good service and a reasonable choice of beverages. Prices a bit high but paying for the location. A small but busy car park is adjacent but best to park on the outskirts of the small town and walk in.

Booked a meal her last Saturday evening for 6 of us, ordered Tasting Menu the night before. Without going into detail, each course was poor, nowhere near worth the money. No finesse, took 45 mins to get the first course, and we were the only people in the restaurant. Whats worse is, I sent a polite email the day after, outlining our experience to the hotel, and never even got a reply. I live on the Island, and just cant understand the attitude.

Have visited twice recently and only used the Beer Garden which has a beautiful view over the Solent towards Lymington. There is a bar in the garden so it is a beautiful place to spend time with a beer in the company of friends,The service is slow but by going to the bar you can avoid the slowness. In our party of Thursday evening one cup of coffee was ordered. This took a very long time to come and when it arrived most of it was in the saucer. There was no apology.A tissue was requested to clean up and a fresh white linen napkin was offered. This was not used as it was thought inappropriate. All in all a super view on a warm summers eveniun

Whilst the staff were extremely friendly and obliging, we did feel we were in a Fawlty Towers sketch! Our drinks took over 30 mins to arrive and our food well over an hour. When we arrived the restaurant was not busy either. The table next to us, had waited over 20 mins for anyone to even approach them, to be told ... 'you are lucky you are not the next table, they waited over 30 mins to be served'. Our request for the bill was totally ignored. So we went to pay at the bar. After mentioning our troubles, we were told 'the staff are having an Italian moment today'. Fortunately, the view and setting is stunning .... so I can think of worse places to be left waiting!

We stopped for Sunday Lunch great views from restaurant but that was the best thing about the lunch! Way over priced for 2 courses. Husband had pea soup, small portion. watery and tasted like tinned pea juice! I had the beef seriously undercooked, served extremely rare, Small portion of veg and cauliflower cheese sauce so thin like runny custard! He had pork really fatty. I had a pannacotta for pudding tasteless strawberries and the rest of the fruit was still frozen! Really would have expected much better for the money, avoid!!

we found this place in Yarmouth on a cold a blustery day in February....beautiful old quaint place where we sat by the old big real fire and had afternoon tea for 4 ....there was soooo much food with yummy finger sandwiches and cakes and scones with jam and butter .....you can see the ocean from the restaurant but because we were soooo cold we sat by the fire. we were able to park right in front ....we would have had plenty just ordering the afternoon tea for three for the four of us as we could not finish it all. I highly reccommend this place for an authentic english tea the only thing missing was old china cups and the scones heated perhaps but otherwise this was perfect and they were sooo accommodating and great service

Decided to give The George another go, on our last summer visit, we were seated with menus and then forgotten. After 15-20 mins, decided to give up. This time we were more optimistic, quiet cold February Sunday. Once shown to the table, which was clean but looked very marked, we were swiftly given menus. A drinks order was taken and the drinks came quickly, albeit served in old fashioned cheap looking glasses. Unfortunately, despite this being a Sunday, there was no mention of a roast on the menu. Never mind, we all found something we wanted, so we ordered. Imagine our disappointment when we saw some delicious roast beef and Yorkshire being delivered to guests on a nearby table. I discreetly left the table, to ask the manager if this was a secret offering? He apologised and replied that the waitress should have informed us that a roast was available when she delivered the menus. He came to the table to apologise to the other diners in our party - and offered a complimentary glass of fizz. Our food arrived and it was delicious if not exceptional. We all had a pudding which @ £7.50 each we felt a little overpriced. The service was fine, the food acceptable, but lunch for three, including 2 g and t's and a diet coke came to £100. I think that poor value for money and we will not rush to return.

Generally we go a couple of time a year and have previously had good experiances. Unfortunatly this trip I think our timing was unfortunate as there was a wedding just about to start and perhaps the chefs focus was else where for our main courses. Additionally we did eat the festive menu, and the two people who went a la carte had a better experiance. There was a oversight on the bill as well but it was all sorted out no problem once highlighted. We will come back again as the everyone can have a bad day.

We had an excellent lunch on a Saturday, celebrating a birthday. Fabulous food (we had the skate which was cooked perfectly), and the portion size was just right for a lunch. The service was good, attentive, but not intrusive. And a fabulous view across the Solent on a sunny day. It was quite busy, which created a good atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Visited here on Monday evening for my wife's birthday. The setting is lovely and staff were good.We enjoyed our starters of yoghurt curd and ham hock pressing and also our mains of chicken breast and fish pie with delicious green vegetables cooked very well. The charred leeks that accompanied the very well cooked chicken breast were inedible. They just wouldn't be broken down into anything remotely swallowable and didn't add anything to the dish. We added a side of hand cut chips and both wondered if they actually were. Visually, they looked suspiciously like frozen ones that restaurants often use. If we're wrong then our apologies. The deconstructed passion fruit cheesecake with mango sorbet for dessert was a bit of a let down. If I'd have known it was going to be deconstructed beforehand I may have chosen something else. The sorbet lasted about 30 seconds before it became a puddle and the passion fruit cheesecake element was more like passion fruit cream rather than cheesecake and the biscuit base was not very biscuity. All in all quite good and worth a trip back.

Stopped by while on a boating day out on the Solent.Yarmouth is a lovely stop to make, mooring well organised in the harbour. The George is literally footsteps from the ferry and harbour.Service a little slow to start but the starters were good and the meal flowed well.My sons rib eye was tasty and well cooked, perhaps a little under his Medium request. Fish pie was great. All in all a Good meal, perhaps more 3.75 taker than 4 as it could be argued it was pub food at restaurant prices.Enjoyable nonetheless and I would return.

Wonderful setting and place to be in the Sunshine with great views , good wine and Isle of White lager ... What ruined my visit was that I asked for a chicken salad, with French dressing and Marie Rose sauce on the side . When the salad arrived , neither sauces did.. How odd to make a salad without a dressing .The Waitress was confused enough when I asked where the French Dressing was as she'd obviously never heard of it before! Any way she returned with the Marie-Rose but no French dressing saying that the chef didn't understand what was wrong with my lunch. She mentioned that he had been moody all day and was obviously so scared of going back to ask him where my French Dressing was !! I asked her not to worry ... Poor girl , honestly the chef needs to get a grip. If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen!!!

Had breakfast and dinner each day in the conservatory during my stay. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years and can honestly say the breakfast here is as good or better than any. Everything is fresh and cooked perfectly. Hot dishes are served hot as is the coffee. Dinner menu is adequate for a short stay and portions are cooked perfectly (no over hard vegetables). Unlike in the past, bread and butter is no longer served with the meal which is a shame. As I have mentioned in previous postings, I feel that the introduction of linen table cloths would be an improvement for dinners. Service is exceptional and friendly and dining here is a pleasure.

Isla's is definitely fine dining. All our dishes were fantastic. We enjoyed sirloin steak, sea bream, fish pie and kids chicken goujons. Desserts were treacle tart, sundaes and creme brulee (each £7). We hadn't booked but it was not a problem, lovely friendly lady greeted us and showed us to the restaurant (access to restaurant is through the hotel front door). Cheapest wine at £23 is a lovely Picpoul de Pinet but the best was 'The Long White' at £29. The view out to sea is stunning. Everything was perfect. Definitely recommend a special meal here. (I've flagged this as Family friendly but probably for older kids, Couples, Friends and Business).

We descended upon The George (having booked in advance, it has to be said) for a family lunch at the weekend. With 16 of the clan in tow, plus two dogs, we were certainly a fair size. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The George are very dog friendly but, understandbly, don't take dogs inside the restaurant itself, so we'd agreed that they would hold tables on standby inside and out so we could see how the weather was set on the day.As it was, the weather was magnificent, and we got to enjoy lunch in The George's delightful garden, which is in the lee of Yarmouth Castle (more of a fort really) looking out over the Solent towards Lymington. There was live music in the garden during lunch, which was excellent and the outside bar did a roaring trade. As for food, everyone left satisfied. We had a range of options, including a good roast beef - still just a little bloody - fish and chips, fish pie, kids portions of the above and plenty more besides.Puddings were incredibly well presented, with the Eton Mess, in particular, a work of art. But both it and the Chocoloate Brownie were not a triumph of form over function. They both tasted fantastic.Thank you to all of the team at The George for a great lunch.

We went to the conservatory restaurant, hungry after a hard day's kayaking. The portions are small but perfectly formed; if you need big portions to be happy try the Bugle nearby. We had four courses of rather excellent food. The service is attentive without being obtrusive. Excellent wine available by the glass ( I particularly enjoyed the Pinot noir). Our 8 year old enjoyed the children's menu. We enjoyed it so much we're going back tomorrow. Why not five stars? Minor niggle: they could have advised that the lamb needed a side of potatoes.

We booked into the George to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Hubby and I ordered the beef fillet for two- cooked rare. When it came out it was so far from rare that it was burnt and dry. Not a great celebration of our one years marriage! We complained and received £15 off of the £60 cost of the beef. After speaking to locals, they told us there were agency chefs in at the moment. I just don't see how after ordering a rare steak, what we got was so far from it!The service in the restaurant was fab, staff work hard and breakfast in there is good. See my picture of my 'rare' steak!! We then went onto Saltys! This was much better!

Walking in, we were blinded by the all white impersonal decor. They had the radio on playing classical music which was okay... until we had to listen to ads for various businesses. The bar area was good - busy and atmospheric. The menu was disappointing, not a lot that grabbed our attention. Only one hot starter which was the soup. We were shown to our table and waited a long time for our starters to appear. They were OK. We had ordered steak for our mains. when they appeared they were luke warm, appeared pale and insipid, we had ordered the steaks medium rare and they were definitely on the rare side. The chips were similarly pale, soggy and very disappointing. Probably one of the worse steaks we have had in a long time. No wonder the restaurant wasn't full.

We thought we'd visit "The George", having visited other prestigous hotel/restaurants on the Island. We had a great welcome and enjoyed the opulant surroundings, of the drawing room for pre-dinner drinks. The Conservatory looked most inviting with it's wonderful Solent views. We opted for the five course taster menu. It was very pleasant to be offered canapes in the drawing room, before being seated in the elegant Isla restaurant. Overall there were some wonderful flavours and combinations of ingredients as part of our set menu. However, the portions were extremely small, and I would recommend the seven course, for anyone with a healthy appetite.(We have sampled taster menus before, and not had such tiny portions) The waiting staff were extremely helpful, but stretched, as we had to ask for our wine glasses to be topped up. We left feeling we'd had a lovely experience, but felt it was rather pricey.

We went for a festive meal at The Crab, old village, Shanklin. I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised, we had a brilliant time and the food was lovely, soup to start, Turkey dinner and a brownie that I struggled to finish! Big thanks to Kay Ginge and Kelly for hosting a very fun afternoon, loved the bingo! What a laugh we had, we’ll definitely be back! Thank you and Merry Christmas!

So disappointed 😞. Looking forward to a rare treat to a kebab. Ordered a Donner, and a chicken kebab with chips to share . Charged £20 as they won't deliver for less, fair enough, but food arrived cold, without the chips and tasteless. We phoned to advise there was no chips without being rude or aggressive yet, they basically put the phone down on us. Rude. Customer service does not exist particularly over the phone. On a positive note the delivery guy was very pleasant, especially coming out on such a wet and windy night

We came here for afternoon tea - the place was nearly empty, but we did not get to pick a table by the window because they were supposedly booked and apparently you cannot have afternoon tea without prior booking, so all we had was the scones. We also ordered two glasses of champagne which we never received. We had to go up to the counter because no one checked on us again. All in all, very poor service, the furniture and atmosphere are canteen-like and the scones were below average. Definitely wouldn’t come here again.

If you want a quick bite to eat this is a pretty decent place. The staff are quick to take your order, and in my experience even in the busy period your food is usually done within 5-10 minutes. The price isn't ridiculous, and the burgers are good. My only disappointment was the chips, I found them to be a bit overcooked but other than that, I was happy with my experience.

Looking for somewhere to eat and use for our regular eat when we are on the island and in Ryde. This will not be the place unfortunately. It says on menu 1/4 pound chicken burger. It hardly covered the standard size burger bun. Not worth h the £5.90 they charge and that is it if you want chips or anything that’s extra. Most of staff friendly, one member not sure if new but no idea how to process our order. The quest is still on for a nice place to eat in Ryde with our dog.
