Our lunch was really good value for money. I'm amazed that they've been able to keep their prices down without sacrificing quality. I only wish I'd had room for cake to go with the excellent coffee. We'll definitely be back.

Visited here for a quick drink. Beautiful pub, lovely and cosy. Quick and friendly staff. Will visit again soon.

Went for afternoon tea, food was nice, would have been nice to add little bowl of crisps maybe, or some other little nibbles, no explanation of what was on sandwiches, not sure that I would go out of my way to return

I personally think the Bakery has dropped its standards over the last 12-18 months, (sad but true) I rarely go out of my way to buy from here anymore, I've sampled a hot breakfast sandwich, the bacon is usually fatty and of very poor quality, sausage rolls (if warm) are very greasy and the selection of cakes available are so bland and over-priced for what they are (nothing fancy). The staff can appear quite miserable at times, it wouldn't harm any of them to welcome their walk-in customers with a smile. Also, I am regularly charged different prices for the same item, some staff definatey need to study the price lists. There is room for improvement here, this little Bakery Shop could be booming in trade if they'd only improve the quality & standards of what's on offer, people would go out of their way to buy good bread, cakes, hot & cold sandwiches and snacks etc, afterall everyone loves a naughty but nice treat from time to time.

Went for Sunday lunch early evening, it was busy but unfortunately my meal of roast beef was just warm, we had ordered drinks I had a glass of Prosecco which was flat it had a slice of orange in it which I took out as this had made it taste awful. We also ordered a bottle of red wine which came after we had our meal. I did inform the waitress which her reply was we will take your comments on board we paid £85 for the meal and drinks for 2. We will not be returning even though we have been a few times in the past.

Really quaint, historical hotel right in the heart of Penkridge. We stayed here with our dog (10 GBP per night extra) and she was made to feel very welcome. There's good parking onsite and everything in Penkridge is walkable from the pub. We had dinner in the restaurant (our dog was allowed to join us) and the food is excellent, along with the cooked breakfast the next morning - which was superb! On the evening, there was a great atmosphere in the pub, obviously a very popular venue with locals. Our room was very comfortable, great space, good shower. The only 2 issues we encountered was that the TV was a little old and small but watchable and the bed's mattress was super soft but apart from that we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend if you're in the area that you stay/dine here.

We looked at the menu online and liked what they had on offer. We also looked at booking a table online but as all lunchtime slots seemed to be free we didn't bother as we thought from that it would be quiet. So we were surprised at how busy it was when we arrived at around 1.15 on a Wednesday lunchtime. Fair play to the chap on reception as he got us sorted with a table within seconds. The food was delish and couldn't be faulted. The waitress was very pleasant and saw that we were well looked after. The food arrived without waiting too long. We will definitely go again.

For someone who eats out a lot at various locations this is by far the worst. Upon entering the venue there is a check in desk. We had to be told by other diners that the check in desk for food was around the corner. We checked in and we were shown to the table. Candle not lit, cutlery missing from one place setting. Our waitress came across, took our drinks order. When taking the order we were not advised what was available on draft or in bottles when asking for certain bar items. For example, 1 person asked for a cider and the waitress had no information about the available items such as draft or bottled ciders with no up selling or recommendations. We ordered starters and mains with our waitress after 15 minutes of been seated at the table. Starters arrived, the soup was cold on top and Luke warm at best. The cheese sharing board was well presented however the first pieces of bread were hard and as a shared platter for 2 came with an odd number of bread pieces. I ask a waitress for a glass of wine as our starter came out and she stated someone would come over with an iPad to place the order. No one came to the table to complete a customer check back during our starters and did not take a new order for further drinks. Once starters were completed we waited 10/15 minutes before plates were cleared. This is when I asked for further drinks. Mains arrived and we all had a Sunday roast which came out well presented. However, some elements were Luke warm and there was not enough gravy leaving the roast disappointing. Again, no customer check back completed during the main course. Once finished, main courses were cleared after 20 minutes and we were shown the dessert menus. Desserts were nice and well presented but again we endured another 15/20 minute wait for desserts. Overall, the venue is cosmetically very pleasing, nice atmosphere, nice decor, but the food standards & customer service elements are lacking severely. Staff seemed to lack leadership with no commitment to their sections or tables. Food is adequate and does not match the ascetics of the venue. I would not return to this venue for any occasion.
