We had very nice Chicken and Lamb Sunday Roasts

Called up to reserve a table for 5 to be told that the earliest slot they had was 5:30pm. Arrived at 5pm and it was empty, plenty of tables and were seated immediately. Roast dinner was average, only had 2 roast potatoes that were dry, however the lamb was lovely. The food arrived lukewarm. Service was terrible, felt like they were all teenagers. One of the staff member was slouched across an armchair on their phone whilst one was drawing pictures to pass around on their pad of paper, which I assume is meant to be for writing down orders. All of this while we were waiting to be served. Never again. You’re probably better off at a Toby Carvery than this place.

Had a sunny afternoon in the garden, blooming £30 for bottle of rose soon moved on

Food was very good and surprising.

Stopped for lunch and it was excellent good menu choices and great value. Similar to my previous post called for lunch service and quality were excellent.

Popped in for a meal on our way home, good location on the main road. Staff were all really great, helpful and friendly.... shame about the food, very disappointed...and we weren't the only ones, overheard comments on at least two other tables saying the same. Won't be rushing back anytime soon...a few other places in Penkridge are recommended thankfully.

Been coming here for a number of years and been disappointed the last few times. Most recently (a few days ago) service was poor. Bar staff and serving staff not very friendly. Sat outside a number of tables were full of dirty plates and food, when asked if our table could be cleared we received a hostile response and told ‘when someone is available’. Needless to say no one came and cleared it so we just cleaned it ourselves and piled it all up on a table that had dirty plates on too. When the food was brought out there was no cutlery, we weren’t asked if we needed any sauces it was just put on the table and before we could ask the server just walked off. The food was good but at the moment doesn’t match the high price being charged. I do love this pub but I feel some improvements are needed recently.

Came in to have a few drinks with family and the young girl serving us was absolutely rude no manners slammed the drinks on the bar and no personality such a shame as the venue it’s self if beautiful

Me and my partner go here regularly for date nights and the food is always impeccable, though tonight when we went we ordered the steak. It was terrible. Over cooked steak (i was pretty sure mine was pork). . It was tiny, so thin and white. The chips were over cooked too. My partner had the same as me but his steak looked like steak and was cooked to his preference, but still tasted burnt somehow. I didnt touch my main and my partner barely touched his. The starters were incredible though but we paid £80 for essentially 2 starters and 2 orange lemonades. Very disappointed and feeling slightly ill after that. Such a shame. The staff, as always, were great though.

I stopped in for breakfast with a friend and the staff were friendly and we were served quickly but the food was very poor. I have a bagel with scrambled egg and smoked salmon and it was so dry. The eggs were very dry and crumbly it was almost inedible as the knife would no cut through the bagel so had to tear at it with my hands like a savage. Would not recommend for breakfast.

Came here to try out the new menu and it was absolutely gorgeous. Everything was cooked beautiful and the service was 10/10

Lovely place to eat, food great with a good choice. We didn't stay in the hotel part so unable to comment about the services there.

Visited a few years back, from memory not quite as good as it was. Sunday roast, just about average.

Meal for 4 Wednesday evening. We were the only people in the dining room, yet it was 50 minutes for mains and 45 minutes for deserts. For the cost. Not great.

Iam not a snob me and wife will not got there again

Popped in for lunch. Lovely food and good service. I had the crispy beef salad and hubby had the steak pie.

Went for a meal with friends. Average main meal cost was around £20. I had spiced cod served with curried cauliflower and sticky coconut rice. Fish was cooked perfectly. Would certainly go again.

Stayed one night while walking to John O’Groats. Very nice large room. Very tasty dinner and friendly service. Even helped dry our boots. Breakfast is continental or upgrade to cooked. Very good omelet! Thanks to the young man who assisted us.

Arrived exhausted as we'd been travelling all day, room was "o.k" but as it is on the road we were awake from 4.30 am with traffic. When I booked on line it stated breakfast was included (which I always check for) but when we arrived we were told it only included continental and anything else was £10 per person extra!!!! I was still happy enough (as I prefer continental) but when we came down to breakfast the following morning all that was on offer was cereal and toast ......as I'm diabetic and had to eat, I poured myself some bran flakes but these were soft and stale so I couldn't eat them (my husband's cornflakes were the same), I mentioned this to the waitress who's response was "oh" ...no apologies or offer of something else, the toast arrived but was BARELY toasted so I ended up with a piece of half toasted bread and a cup of extremely weak tea!!!! Very disappointed in general so wouldn't return

Great staff and service. Nice atmosphere in pleasant surroundings. Plenty of parking spaces and for disabled also.

We went here for food with a friend, the food was lovely they did vegan snd gluten free together, I would have rated this as a great place but we found out that our friend was charged for 2 pints of ipa that we didn't have as the barrel had gone so we had to have something else! Such a shame as wanted to give a good review!

Popped in with my dog for a pint and food after walking the canal and was more than happy with the service from the young lady behind the bar she was friendly I asked for a drink of water for my k9 and with no hesitation a bowl of fresh water was provided,I had chips Mexican style which was a little overpriced in my opinion but the toppings on the chips made me happy so would buy again I paid for spare ribs but when they came out of the kitchen the spare ribs were as if by magic turned into pork belly the young lady explained that they had no spare ribs left and thought pork belly would be a good substitute which luckily was but I was not happy the amount of pork belly offered so when mentioned the young lady was more than happy to take back to the kitchen for a top up and when I got my pork belly bowl back I was happy 😊 anyway I would definitely be coming to this pub again.

Excellent lunch. Sadly I didn't read the menu correctly and didn't enjoy the chilli 🌶 peppers on my steak . Will read properly next time

Busy family pub. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Ordered a 2 course Sunday lunch. Food served in a timely manner and was very tasty. Also good value. We will definitely be returning.

Had 2 meals tonight for £9! 25% off in January. Food was great and the atmosphere is always lovely here. Would highly recommend.

Not been to the Littleton for a while and usually very good. We booked with friends and we were generally disappointed but the quality of the food which in some cases tasteless and some undercooked. Staff were very average and we had to keep asking the staff to be served. No checking if everything was ok, it was clear later in the evening they wanted to go home and cleaning up around us. Won’t be rushing back

First time I have eaten here and it won't be the last went for a family meal and the food was 1st class staff friendly and helpful like I said food was great I had a steak 🥩 and it was perfect it's hard to find a place that dose a good steak and this was far the best I have had in a long time the burgers where good my mom had lasagna which again was good definitely recommend the Littleton for anyone wonting to try some where new 😊😊👍👍

Highly recommended the fish and chips! We go every week and not had a bad one yet! Proper white cod in a nice crispy batter. Usually have real chips but covid 19 have laid them off for a while though the alternatives are nice too

Just dropped in for lunch with our grandkids. Service was excellent and the food was piping hot. Loved the onion rings and chips. Only grouse is that the kids meals were massive, they couldn't eat them! Will go back again.

Two meals... Chicken was grey and black and I had to carve what little meat I could off the bone, and then had to check my food as I chewed it for all the gristle. The veg tasted microwaved, hard, and sharp. Sweet chilli chicken wrap was... Microwaved frozen chicken strips from Iceland with sweet chilli splashed on a wrap, but it wasn't even folded over properly so it looked thinner than the napkin wrapped around the utensils and it all dropped out when you picked it up. The price seemed odd too because after taking off the food from the total bill, so it was left to the value of the two drinks, halving that said that a Coke zero costed us £2.405? I didn't know that halfpennies were still valid tender... Left without finishing our food feeling a bit ill and had to go eat elsewhere. What a waste of £21.35. No thank you. Wasn't worth the try.

Lots of good aspects to today's lunchtime Christmas lunch with a large group of friends. This is a local pub that is well decorated and very clean. The staff were helpful and very well organized and efficiently served a large group of about 20. We had the set Christmas lunch for a 3 course lunch at about 15 pounds, so good value. For the non vegetarians the meals looked very good, either salmon or turkey. Sadly for vegetarians the choice is very limited and average. I really do think restaurants/pubs could up their game for vegetarians and vegans. If you're not a veggie I would recommend this pub for great value.

Went to the Littleton for a pint and smelled the food which was amazing my wife had a steak and I had a mixed grill which arrived piping hot and cooked to perfection the waitress was brilliant never stopped smiling and so happy and friendly The bar staff brilliant and so friendly, the cask ales were perfect all in all a brilliant pub with great staff and great food

Dire, we went on a Sunday as a small group of seven! How do you ruin a Sunday dinner?? Overcooked, dry and so little gravy We left most of it! We would have asked for more gravy just to make it edible but by the time we managed to find a staff member that was bothered the food was cold £14.95 per head, wow what a waste of money. Another had steak at £28, his feedback..... very average food Bar service, I stood at the bar with the food going cold for 10 minutes while a male staff member was on the phone, I left and returned to the food, he never came to offer us a drink although he had seen me at the bar and he’d seen me return to the table! No one asked how the food was, I waited and waited so I could feedback No dessert menus offered or given, we had to reach into the shelves above the laptop Absolute dire from start to finish........ save your money, go elsewhere Staff not interested food dire and an experience we won’t be repeating

A lively pub atmosphere : good beer on tap: fish and chips weren't the best, probably from frozen . Service was good, even when they were very busy. A local pub with the atmosphere to go with it.

Kelly who's works behind the bar is well fit and the best barmaid in the place and the food that is cooked by our Diana is wonderfully

Come on sue I’m taking you out for your birthday where shall we go , let’s go to the Littleton What a waste of money prawn cocktail (frozen prawns) with wet lettuce from the prawns no flavour at all. Lamb shank mash potatoes peas and beans sounds lovely, yuck lamb shank 50% fat mash potatoes full of nutmeg disguising peas and beans ok the only thing that was ok was my g&t; my husband had a mixed grill never seen such thin meat in my life , gamon was bacon steak was grissel no knife would of been sharp enough , sausage was black and the chips were cold but the coke was ok

Large fresh portions of piping hot food. Highly recommend here and I would defo come back. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is not only of excellent quality it is also really good value for money! Defo give it a try you won’t be disappointed

My family come here frequently for birthday gatherings etc but I hadn’t been before. I was certainly not disappointed, there was a deal on which meant our meals came to roughly £5 each. I had the hunters

Been here a few times for a quick bite to eat, always quick serivce and lovely food. Wouldn't make it my local drinking spot though because of the big beer garden, theres always screaming kids.

This has been recently refurbished and is decorated lovely. The beer garden is brilliant and excellent for the children to play football. The food was lovely, excellent value. Service is a bit slow but it was busy.

I just popped in here for lunch with my niece. I had the chicken and bacon salad it was delicious very filling great as I am on slimming world it’s so nice to have a salad that isn’t swamped in lettuce to make it look like you have more on your plate. The dressing was also served on the side which when you are dieting is great. My niece had the barbecue chicken and bacon dirty chips. She ate the lot.

I booked a meal for 30 people. All of us were happy with the meal and we have now booked for our Christmas meal. The food was hot and served quickly. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

We had a party of 22 people this week for a meal. The service was fantastic - very friendly welcoming staff. The meals were just perfect, we were able to order off the new winter menu - I would highly recommend.

Popped down for lunch mid week. Place was almost empty. Smelt a little too clean but hey its not a bad thing I guess. Food was really nice and two for ten pound was great value. Nice little pub for a quick bite to eat.

This is a very clicky pub and when I've been it's not very welcoming. Good is nice, quite good value. There is a big garden for the kids to play in. Chips are lovely.

This is not a good pub for food and drinks, there's a huge garden out the back for kids but the pub itself feels as it's just for locals. The food was all cooked from frozen and no chefs are involved. The price of the food is cheap but there's a reason for that. Unfortunately this is not a place I would recommend for food or drinks. It's a shame because I feel this place has potential to be very popular.

Waited to be served while staff talked about they're night out. Once served had to wait for food which order was got wrong twice, not a good experience and will not return.

New to the area. Looked nice from the outside so we walked in and felt awkward with customers staring at us, place wasn't that busy. Sat down looking at the menu for 5 minutes when a member of staff came over and said 'we've stopped serving food at 8 by the way'. Not rude but not exactly friendly.

We were staying nearby and had been disappointed with a meal. The Littleton is comfortable and cheery and the food, from what we saw and sampled, good. Having grown up in Cannock, it was nostalgic to see the mining photos on the walls. We both enjoyed our meals and the friendly service.

Eureka! best cooked chips I have had in a while. Went for the double beer battered fish. One would have been enough as they were of good size. Highly recommended and the beer was good as well!

Visited last night for a relatives birthday and will definitely be paying another visit! Really quiet and delicious food (the best I've had in a long time). I had the battered fish which was gorgeous, however everyone else had burgers as you receive a free drink alongside this! Perfect service too, the young girl who dealt with us was absolutely lovely.

We go for Sunday lunch every week, apart from when we are on holiday, also go for a meal mid-week also. We cannot praise this pub enough, food excellent and plentiful.

Been here quite a few times as it is the nearest pub to where we live. Been for mid week evening meals and Sunday Lunch. Food is average pub fare, but does the job of filling you up. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Can get very busy on a Sunday, so best check if they have tables, rather than trn up on spec.

Lovely pub to have a meal in, the meal was beautiful, atmosphere great and service excellent. Young girl named Jordan was waiting on our tables, lovely girl, well mannered, softly spoken, nothing was too much trouble for her.

We have just had Sunday lunch, The meat was plentiful and beautiful, the veg cooked to perfection with the potatoes lovely and creamy. The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Will we be back ? You bet we will.

we visited this pub for an evening meal.The starters were quite acceptable, my gammon etc was reasonable .My Husband's steak was not. Around 20% was hard sinew and even after this was removed it was not possible to eat the remaining meat as this too was completely threaded with the same sinew.
