Came across the venue by chance and we loved it. Nice crowd and music. Would come back again if in the area.

Had a brilliant night in this place I felt a bit old in there but a few beers and who cares me and the Mrs loved it

What a gem this place is. Quirky decor made you feel cosy and comfy but you knew you were still on a night out. Staff were all friendly and efficient. We will return.

Great little venue, awesome choice of craft ales and ciders, friends staff. Watch those stairs after a few. Goth night fabulous music and people.

Went to see some bands in Room At The Top...the smaller venue that is above Claptrap's main room. I have lost track of how many times I have been to see live music in the main Claptrap room, it's always been brilliant, atmosphere, comfort, decor, but especially the friendly staff and customers(it's a great place to go solo to gigs because it's full of friendly music loving people in my experience)...this was only my second time in the smaller upstairs room. Absolutely fantastic. Great room ,small , intimate but really stylish...and the sound was fantastic. The attention to detail by the Soundman (Sean a Co-Runner of the venue I believe) was beautiful to see/hear. Highly , highly recommend.I go to see lots of bands in many different small and large venues...I can't think of one that beats Claptrap or Room At The Top.

Attended a Blitz (New Romantic) night. Fab music. Bar staff were friendly and so was everyone who was there. Drink prices were reasonable. All going great until a group of 1920s dressed youngsters turned up at 11:30, they were already tipsy and were pushing people around without any manners. We gave up and left at midnight. Such a shame as I was really enjoying the night.

Superb Sunday night open mic venue. Great stage and sound set up, lovely decor and atmosphere and really welcoming hosts. Done 1 and planning more. A must try for those who love to perform.

Horrible staff and total disrespect verging on assault of customers. Hopefully the venue closes down or is taken over by people who know what they're doing.

Always love this place, seen loads of love music here recently. The place is always clean, toilets included. Staff are just lovely & the atmosphere is kicking

3 Starts purely for the amazing staff and music. Overheard a conversation of what i can assume the manager to be talking very poorly to the staff, having drinks and not working. Not impressed.

Brilliant live music on open mic night

Went for the 'Goth' night Sat 06/5 £5 in decent music with Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division and Echo and the Bunnymen tracks on the play list will look to go to the next one. .

Excellent venue. Reasonably priced drinks, good atmosphere. Mix of events, live bands and DJ themed nights. Much recommended.

Waited 25 minutes on the door tonight - to then be told 'no entrance' tickets only. The door man who was obviously told to give us the bad news was so rude during our wait. Some lads in the queue started asking how long the wait would be to get in (no reason why they shouldn't) & he was clearly frustrated - & unprofessional! Started speaking to all in queue as if we were trash! I don't think so Clap Trap! Very disappointing!

Rude bouncer, cocktails were pricey and not very nice especially ‘the Owl’, there was a leak in the ceiling meaning the whole corner of the venue was out of bounds and the DJ was pressing play on a song and then running round collecting glasses. A very odd venue and not in a good way. Will not be returning and wouldn’t recommend.

Great first floor music venue with a proper stage and sound system. I visited on a well attended Sunday open mic 🎤 Shenanigans session.

Great atmosphere lovely venue. My son's band performed there at the Sunday open mic. Very professional and sounded amazing. We will definitely be returning.

I hired the smaller room, upstairs above the main venue. for a party This room is smaller, full of amazing beautiful, quirky interesting furniture and decor. Everyone who came commented on how much they loved the room and atmosphere. All staff made us feel very welcome. We were able to order drinks from the small bar, then when our party finished we could join everyone else in the main venue. Had a great night, just got to find an excuse for another party now! definately recommend.

Retro and a great feel about the place

Quirky little venue that gives live musicians a chance. I like the laid back style. Can't comment on the beer as I was driving! Will be going back soon.

We booked our anniversary party here at the start of 2022 for this month. The room hire was £400. We were told that max capacity was 100 persons but if we don’t get this, they would allow regulars in. We assured them we would get to capacity with our guests. We checked we could take our teenage children as it was a private party and was told all good. We booked a band ourselves (£600) so in total we paid £1000 for the party and we’re really looking forward to it. Less than a week before the party, we paid the remainder of monies owed for the room and the owners asked for our guest list. We were at 84 attending. We were told they would be selling tickets for £5 on the door and letting people in as we were not at 100 capacity. We were not happy about this so said we would pay for the extra to have exclusively £100. We were told this wasn’t possible. Even worse and very uncool. The Claptrap owners were advertising our band we booked and paid for on their website with no mention of a private party so people could just turn up and join the party we had paid for. I asked for this to be removed from the website. It was but replaced with private gig til 11pm. DJ from 11pm! Our band were playing til 12.15am. What should have been a really awesome week looking forward to a big anniversary party was just stressful and upsetting at the actions and attitude of the owners of the venue. If they are going to charge public to come into private parties then they shouldn’t take a booking for a private party! Our guests spent thousands behind the bar that night so they made a small fortune. They agreed to not let public in til after the band ended but they did. They charged public to come in from 11.45pm and join our party. They even told me on the night that my kids weren’t allowed in there even though pre-agreed, they were Charing for doubles and not asking our guests if they wanted double measures and the barman was the most grumpy Barman we have ever seen. Everyone I have spoke to about this just simply can’t believe a venue would let public into the party you booked and paid for plus charge them and make the profit from the public who came in. Who runs a business like that? In short. We had a great night and it’s such a shame because the venue is so good BUT the owners put greed before keeping their customers and paying bookings happy and ensuring we had a great party. Seriously don’t ever book a private party here. Well unless you want half of Stourbridge attending at your expense!

Great place, well run and good atmosphere

Extremely over priced (blind robbery really) and rude staff making comments about guests in front of guests, ignored for half an hour at the bar when it was not that busy, place has gone downhill massively, sadly won’t be going back, cheaper venues down the road with more professional and polite staff.

Off beat music venue & nightclub. Lovely decor and not what I expected. Sound wise for the bands was spot on & the playlist for the club after was impressive. Beer prices about the club average at £5 a pop. Well worth a visit. Support grassroots venues.

Drinks are overpriced for the venue it is set in. Bar staff more drunk than customers . Not a good environment as overheard bar staff talking about customers and pointing did not feel comfortable at all. No disability amenities.

Friendly, has a good vibe. Lots of seating (I have mild mobility issues/chronic pain and can't stand all night so this is important). Good live acts, Blitz Club night was amazing and ought to be more frequently run IMHO. Bar well stocked. They seem to manage numbers and admission well so it's neither so rammed you can't breathe or populated by idiots (does get busy sometimes though). As a lone woman I feel I could come and watch a live act by myself here and not feel harassed. Also asked about an event that was actually sold out and one of the business owners took my number and did actually text me back when tickets got returned. Awesome place.

A real hidden gem. Me and the wife found this place the day by chance. When we got there was a live band playing. Called The Lost Notes. They where amazing. Highly recommended

Really fun venue. Went there for Halloween and had a brilliant time! The DJ night was brilliant although would advise not to mix fast pace music right into slow but otherwise a great night and tasty cocktails!

Good real beer and cider. Venue cosey. Nice people tend to go there rather...left wing types. Music is hit and miss...DJs often don't read the floor and becomes all about them.

First visit to Claptrap for Bowie night. It was loads of fun, the venue is quirky with a few tables, seating and a dancefloor all very clean and well looked after. Thee bar stocks a wide variety of drinks. Bowie night was lots of fun we got their early and the music started off with newer songs and only played the hits later (11pm onwards) It was busy from 9pm and by 10 lots of people were dancing. Can't wait to try another night maybe for the poetry?

Best live music venue for miles

If you like a quirky joint with cool interiors and house music, this is the place for you. Had ana amazing night out here. Drinks weren't too pricey and they do a nice selection of craft beers.

Ah, what a fabulous, quirky venue. Wonderful events (we enjoyed Matt Vinyl!), super friendly and efficient staff plus a lovely choice of drinks ... even a choice of non-alcoholic beers. Gets my vote! ❤️😎

Apart from a peculiar situation where a man made me pay for a drink he downed in a singular second, Claptrap is an interesting place. It feels like what a Hollywood movie would think an independent music venue would look like. There is a door used as a table, an eclectic mix of chairs, and even stickers all over the place to remind you - if you can't hear the thunderously loud music - that you are in a music venue. They do make good drinks too.

Great music venue, it's good to see different bands, solo artist, etc. The sound is amazing, staff wonderful you are made to feel very welcome. I would highly recommend

Nice venue in Stourbridge to see a gig. Comfy sofas give it a relaxed feel with the other "band in your front lounge" vibe created by armchairs, fabric lampshades and flock wallpaper your Nan once had. Good range of craft beers in cans and some draft. Non alcoholic options available. For bands, the sound engineer was very helpful and staff were nice. It's up a flight of stairs with no visible disabled access hence 4 stars, otherwise worth a visit to support a live music venue and the artists performing.

Unusual setting, nice seating and "artefacts". Music was good, was all ages til late on, then quite a few youngsters. Delicious cocktails and lots of different ales, but definitely not cheap drinks. At least 2 people injured there fingers in the ladies, so please mend the flush!!

Great venue run by great, friendly people. The drinks from the bar are more expensive compared to other local bars and pubs, but there is no cost for entry to open mic nights and other events, which is a positive. Definitely a place more for seeing entertainment with friends than it is anything else.

Great atmosphere, music is amazing the seats where so comfortably I could stay there all time and I did. The bar staff were so friendly and welcoming really made the whole place feel homely. Door staff were friendly as well. Overall one of the best pubs in Stourbridge by far.

Out of all venues claptrap is by far my favourite. Had some great nights out there with friend and the owners are always very welcoming and friendly. Great music, great staff, great venue, would rate it 10/5 if I could :D.

Great night last night at Claptrap. Youth bands were playing for the first time as part of a project called The Junction, partly funded with lottery money and in conjunction with Base Studios. Stand out newcomers for me were Tumultum playing some rock covers and an original song, written by Jess Silk and the band, called Trenchfoot. Great atmosphere, equipment, sound and very friendly staff. Well done everyone.
