We visit the Oakley on a fairly regular basis and four of us arrived for our pre-booked Lunch on NYD, as always,Beth & her team were on the ball, a roaring log fire, fast attentive service, beautifully presented and tasty food, what more could you ask for? Vastly better than "average" pub chains for only a modest premium, will we be back? Yep.... we'll be there VERY soon.

We had a great NYE at The Oakley this year. Food was good and the live music fab. Arrived at 7pm which we did wonder might be a bit early but the night went quickly and it was 1 am and time to leave before we knew it! Was busy and lots of dancing and singing with Fatman Alley doing great songs we all knew.

The Sunday before Christmas, six of us for lunch. The whole experience from arrival to departure was perfect. We always have a family get together near Christmas and this year we chose The Oakley Arms. It was so busy, the staff were IMO really under pressure and yet remained calm, friendly with beaming smiles. The food was excellent as was the service. The atmosphere was really buzzing, lots of families all doing similar to us… celebrating and catching up over good food and drinks. A big Thankyou to team Oakley much appreciated

We recently visited the Oakley Arms for a Sunday roast. The food, atmosphere, and decor were wonderful. The only issue was that my order was mixed up, probably my southern accent! But to their credit, the kitchen rectified this quickly, and it was without doubt one of the best roasts I've ever had! The staff were lovely, and I loved our waitresses' grinch t shirt!!

We visited on a Saturday for a family meal before Christmas and left disappointed. The service was slow, we had to ask 3 times for water on the table. The servers were young and seemed inexperienced, not the best service. One meal came out cold and had to be sent back for another go in the microwave. The other three meals were fine, however plates were stone cold. We have been before and had a better experience but I wouldn't rush to go back, would rather pay a bit more and have a meal at Lester's Arms down the road, much better.

Edit: just looked at some of the pictures of the lamb others have posted, and this was FAR from what they tried to con me with. Wish I'd take a picture of this shower, but I would have been embarrassed to have it in my gallery. Avoid if you want decent food or service. The Xmas menu has most the same stuff from the main menu BUT the exact same items cost 2-4quid more on the set price Xmas special deal menu, than just ordering the same from the main menu separately, depending on what you go for. Anyway, went for the lamb shoulder, minted new potatoes, seasonal veg etc. ok so got told no new potatoes, so I could have roasts or mash. Chose roasts, no probs. £25, so was expecting a good meal. Took 45mins to get food. The lamb came, the 4 roasts were dry and hours old, the "seasonal veg" was what seemed like microwaved swede mash, and cabbage - the sort of pre-prepped thing you get from Morrisons. And the lamb was full of sinew, again very much like the stuff you get in vaccumn bags for Mozzers, all just dumped on the plate. Honestly if this had been 15 quid then ok, tasteless disappointing food, but at least some kind of value. But £25??? Joke. Took it back to the bar and they looked at me like I'd got two heads and said to me, 'that's what the lamb is like'. Said theyd change it for what else i fancied, no apology or owt. so I went for the burger. Burger was nice but just came with firm, dry old french fries, and nothing else - no side salad, coleslaw blah blah for 17.50. Well if you wanna pay 25 quid for canteen food, then fine, or 18 just for a burger and old, thrown on the plate fries, then go for it. And then they tried to keep the lamb on the bill too! Oh and enjoy the ages wait to get it as well. One of the worst meals for years, but at premium prices. They gave out vouchers to everyone at the end as part of promo, could win up to free meal for whole table - wouldn't even go back if we won top prize and didn't have to pay. Funny thing is, that by trying to fob off canteen food as premium pub food they: Lost £25 for the pathetic lamb dish Forgot to add the £18 extra burger Took off a round of drinks, so about £30 So they lost over £70 - for trying to pull a fast one.

Visited late afternoon today 15th Dec for a family Christmas meal. Went to order off Christmas menu, NO TURKEY, two ended up with sausage and mash Christmas meal!! No Christmas pudding as we had to order off regular menu. The staff waiting on tables very miserable, obviously didn't want to be there, never asked if meals ok etc, had to keep asking them for drinks, desert menu etc, certainly in wrong job. We are regular customers, but will think twice before booking again. A lot of money for a poor meal and miserable service!!

The lovely gentleman who serves us, James came back to check if our mains were okay and when I raised my concerns about my meal, he was so polite and understanding. He offered me another meal off the menu and while I refused because my partner had already eaten off it, the fact that he offered was just amazing! The customer service was great and the ambience festive too. They quickly turned a not so great experience into a better one and I cannot fault this business at all! Thanks James!

A bigger than expected beautiful country pub with a garden, patio, and pond area with ducks. Good sized carpark inside has real log fires in a beautiful country cottage setting. We visited for a work Christmas meal unfortunately non of my pre ordered menu options were avaliable and I only found out on arrival. This was really disappointing and I missed out on a starter with the rest of the large party. In future it would be helpful to let the booker know there is an issue before and not when everyone arrives to sit down. I chose lamb as a substitute which was lovely but was not happy non of the 3 courses was available. The meals had good portions, the lamb was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. The bar has a good selection of beers but we were disappointed no cocktails were avaliable althought the top shelf options were there. It would be great if the bar staff could make a few of the basics. The 10% alcohol pre made mixes in small bottles dont compare. A lovely cosy countryside pub for winter or beautiful spot for summer. I would recommend a visit.

Great pub, with lovely location and wonderful staff, but they are terrible at answering their phone, these days. I know there is a meal booking system on their website, but I would imagine that some people would still rather book by phone (if they have a special request for example) and it's virtually impossible to do that, at the moment. I tried ringing them at various times on 3 separate days this week and the phone just rings and rings. It took me 18 (YES, EIGHTEEN) attempts to get through. I wonder how many people are put off by this and how much business The Oakley is losing as a result. Such a shame, because it's a great pub, run by lovely people.

Visited today with my mom to treat her for what should have been a nice meal for the two of us. When we arrived no one acknowledged us for around 10-15 mins so we asked at the bar for a table and were finally seated. We ordered two lamb dinners and only one had arrived 45 minutes later (a long wait time for a Monday). We couldn’t get hold of any staff members to ask about my mom’s dinner as we couldn’t see anyone around except for a busy lady serving a crowd of people at the bar. Eventually after I had finished eating my dinner, we managed to ask the lady at the bar where my moms food was to which she was very unhelpful and replied only one had been ordered (and seemed to have blamed us for the mistake). She wasn’t very apologetic and advised there was no one else I could speak to about the situation. She spoke with the lady who had served us and she admitted she had forgotten to add the second dinner on as she was new. We weren’t very happy with how the original lady at the bar had handled the situation, especially when you are paying almost £30 for a single roast dinner and glass of juice! She eventually gave us tickets for a free meal next time (only valid on a Monday-Thursday) and I still paid full price for the meal I had eaten on my own (£28 for just one meal and juice). Very disappointing experience, my mom was so excited to try this place and they really let us down! Poor service and long waiting times, wouldn’t recommend or visit again.

Not been at the Oakley Arms before and on first glance it looked good. Nice atmosphere, lovely garden. We ordered drinks and were given a table even though we were 45 mins early for our booking. The drinks came and we were asked if we were ready to order. We asked for five more minutes and then got completely forgotten for the rest of the afternoon. Whatever we wanted we had to go looking for someone in order to ask and in all honesty it didn’t seem that busy. Lots of young staff bumbling around but nothing getting done. Not set area for staff so had about five waiters/waitresses looking after us. The food was average at best. My steak burger was cooked how they felt with way too much cheese and a smattering of fries. Food served without cutlery, same with desserts. Mains plates still on the table when dessert arrived. No one asked if anything was ok or if we enjoyed the food at the end of the afternoon. All round very poor. Not a place I will return to or would recommend.

We are returning diners, pre-booked as we have previously formed the impression that walk-ins aren't encouraged, just the two of us, drinks ordered at the bar, straightforward ordering of our starters and mains when seated at a nice table in the main bar area, enjoyed all of our food. Discovered that the area we were seated in was dog friendly, vile behaviour by neighbouring table with dachshund on their lap and effectively seated it to sniff plates at the table, ask to be away from the doggie area if that disgusts you. Experience tainted by the card payment machine inviting us to leave a tip.

Stopped off here after a recommendation. We arrived and the car park which was fairly busy however still plenty of spaces available. I came here with my family. When I entered the pub there were a number of empty tables throughout. I decided to order some drinks while the rest of the family looked over the menu. The bar staff member’s tone was extremely rude to me telling me they were extremely busy and the tables were reserved so we could not sit at any empty table. If they were so busy why was there only one member of staff serving at the bar and one person waiting for drinks at the bar? no queue for the bar, I felt like the bar staff looked down their nose at me as if I’m not good enough to be served in the establishment. I was extremely disappointed with the way I was dealt with I would not return or recommend. The red lion/staffordshire grill is only a short drive away and a much more pleasant welcome.

Private buffet lunch (30 people) in the Garden Room for my father's wake. The venue as most have commented is absolutely beautiful. Lots of space / great ambience in the bar areas and on the stunning outdoor terrace overlooking the lake. The property is very characterful and immaculately maintained throughout. I can't comment on dining in the main bar area as this was my first visit, but I can say that the buffet served to us in the Garden Room was outstanding. Everyone commented how good it was. The southern-fried chicken sliders were a particular highlight, but everything else was delicious too. The sandwiches were definitely a cut above the usual buffet fare with generous fillings and garnished with attention to detail, the chips were hot and crispy, the cucumber and feta salad was super-fresh and tasty, the cheddar and chive quiche had buttery pastry and a yummy filling, the chocolate brownies and fruit meringues for dessert were excellent. The main part of the pub was busy with many other diners, so for the kitchen to produce such high-quality food for a private event at the same time was impressive. Couldn't fault it. Although it was a buffet, the service was perfect - really lovely staff, friendly and accommodating. Tea and coffee (a complimentary part of the buffet menu) were kept vigilantly topped up throughout, we ran out of salad towards the end but a request for more was swiftly and courteously dealt with and not charged for. Would not hesitate to recommend The Oakley Arms for a special event, thank you to all involved for helping to make my Dad's send-off a memorable occasion 😊

I was so disappointed with my recent visit. Upon arrival we were pointed to our seating in the corner of the room and advised that someone would come over and take our order shortly. After waiting 25 mins, we asked if someone could be sent over to take our order. The waitress was very sweet but didn’t know much about the menu and had to ask the chefs about one of the main course choices. The starters arrived promptly but unfortunately 2 of them were wrong and had to be returned. When they eventually arrived, the other 2 people in our party had already finished their starters. After another 45 mins we asked if they had forgotten our main courses and they arrived 15 mins later but unfortunately 1 of the main courses did not arrive and after a further 10 mins it arrived. The standard of the food was OK, although chicken was over cooked and some vegetables were lukewarm. It’s not up to it’s normal standard by any means, hence why we were so disappointed, but looking at some other recent reviews something has changed which is sad as it’s such a lovely place.

Where do I start. Having eaten here in the past , as we live in Brewood, we decided on our rare occasion when we are at home together we would go to the oakley for food and drinks. I found the menu somewhat uninspiring but we decided to chose the prawn and squid starter, the roast pork bap, the chilli beef salad, truffle Fries and onion rings. We were both severely disappointed with all of the food. My starter had 2 small prawn and 4 pieces of squid, the beef salad consisted of shredded cabbage, sliced pepper, onion , cashew nuts., topped with a small amount of beef ...this does not constitute a salad, it was dry , contained no salad items such as lettuce, tomato, cucumber etc...in fact it felt like a bowl of uncooked stir-fry ingredients from a packet rather than salad. The fries were a small portion of chips with grated parmesan and the onion rings just pure batter with very little onion inside. The only half edible item was the pork bap which came with half a packet of crisps. Our bill was £75 for the 2 of us, which I would pay all day long for good food but this was absolutely not worth the money. This experience was all the more disappointing for myself as I was a head chef for 21 years ,owning my own restaurant and I am now a private chef onboard a private airline .Both my partner and I are extremely well travelled have eaten in some of the best establishments therefore we expect a certain level of cuisine, which we have had I the past at the Oakley......such a shame, what has happened to this place...won't be eating here again

My husband, friends and I have eaten at Oakley Arms often over the years. Today, for the first time, I personally was very disappointed. I ordered my ever favourite, fish and chips. The fish was so thin, I hardley found any within the over fried batter. My husband's was slightly better! As the waitress came to clear our table I made her aware of my disappointment. Her comment was "I will pass your comments to our chef". No further comment/apology was given. Not what I would ecpect from Oakley Arms.

We have visited here many times before as the setting is simply stunning! It was a hot Sunday, which was forecast and both inside and outside were busy. We had booked a table for 8. The food was good for some dishes and ok for others. The quiche was meant to have a grape salad but it wasn’t served with this. It also didn’t say it was served with potato salad so had ordered chips. Bits of information like this should just be clearer. Our biggest issue was the slow service. Drinks took ages. Had to ask to order more. All the glasses left on the table. No one checked how the food was. All just basics things to be honest. There seemed to be plenty of staff, perhaps inexperienced? Having a bit more of a radar of your customers would be good. It’s not a cheap place to visit so things just need to be tighter otherwise people won’t return. A lot of competition in the area.

Exceptional and unique characterful location with a relaxed atmosphere. Service friendly and well timed but not overbearing. Immediately asked about dietary requirements and drinks delivered quickly. No long wait and not rushed either. Food was perfect. Tasted as wonderful as the presentation Fantastic experience and will definitely return and highly recommend

Oh dear… what a disaster. Firstly we have eaten here before and always had a great experience. But… tonight we went for our son's 22nd birthday and sadly this was far from our previous visits. Seated just after 6:30… waited over 30 minutes for drinks (ouch on a Friday). An hour passed before our starters arrived… which were lovely, but then another hour passed and we were still waiting for our main course. We weren’t alone, everyone around us were shuffling in their seats waiting for some kind of service. The customer facing team absolutely tried to do their best, but couldn’t hide their own embarrassment at the service and delays. We heard them explain to other tables on the delays, a chef down and too many tables yada yada . If it had been explained at the start of evening you would accept it or decide to leave. We know they still were taking in walk ins, who were actually served and fed before us. They were massively apologetic, but come on - you are better than this. We decided to leave but we were given vouchers, and didn’t charge us for starters ✔️that was a nice touch - but we had to divert to the chippy back in Codsall ( which was awesome - thanks Andy). I'm certain we would have loved the much anticipated food, I hope next time we can get the right kind of experience.

Visited with the family on Sunday 23rd. We received such a warm welcome from the team and were promptly seated. Although the experience could have been spoiled by the numerous power cuts on the afternoon the managers kept us in the loop and reacted positively to ensure we left happy. Food was delicious, service first class and the building and gardens are beautiful. Can’t wait to come back again!!

It’s such a shame as most of the staff were so friendly and the venue is beautiful. But unfortunately it’s was pretty shambolic! It took us too long to be seated, we had to ask to have our orders taken. We had to ask for drinks, we had to ask for used glasses to be taken away, the food took so long, we almost left! Then it was so chaotic to then pay! I know on the particular day they had issues with the power but surly a venue of this size and with the footfall they have continually they should have a backup plan! The waitresses we so so friendly but there was no one overseeing everything or giving any direction it seems to us. My poor mother in law was so excited to take her family out and even visited the day before but it was just not good, these things spoilt the experience and we won’t be back. Ever!

Went to Stourbridge to see French Boutik at Claptrap. What a great little venue, upstairs in the High Street. Good stage and imaginative decor. Friendly staff with a good selection of drinks. The sound quality was very good. We all need to support great live music venues like this, wherever they are.
