Gone here for food more times than I can remember and they never disappoint. Service is always super friendly, the food is always delicious and the atmosphere great- even on the quieter days. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a nicer pub dinner!

Visited yesterday for lunch in the beautiful weather. Had got an inside table booked but the lady that welcomed us was very happy to offer an outdoor table which we snapped up. Only downside to eating outside is having to go in to the bar to order and pay, no biggie but when you’re enjoying the weather would be nice to have table service as inside. I ordered the beef rigatoni which looked a little sorry for itself in the bowl-looked like half was missing but could just be down to presentation, in comparison to the other meals my family ordered the portion size seemed on the small size but I enjoyed it and it filled me up. We love visiting all the Brunning and Price venues and love how they’re all similar but also different. Will be back to enjoy the sunshine and food there again soon

I emailed the venue to bring the below to their attention, they offered to telephone to discuss our issues. I provided my phone number and a convenient time, no one telephoned. I then had an email which made it's way into my junk folder. I responsed and they are still yet to get back to me, or discuss a resolution. My partner and I and our two children attended the Oakley Arms for a Mother's Day lunch. Although I cannot fault our desserts, my main meal was really quite unpleasant. I ordered the fish pie and it was overly salty (to the point where I could still taste it several hours later) and there was quite a few bones in the fish within the pie too. I know you can occasionally find bones in fish, but you don't expect this within a fish pie, and I had to spit quite a lot of it back out. My partner informed our waitress when our plates were cleared as I had popped to the restroom. The waitress said she would inform the kitchen, but nothing came of it. Obviously, with it being Mother's Day my partner had taken me out for a treat, and it was quite a pricey set menu. My partner and I were therefore extremely disappointed that the meal was not enjoyable. This isn't the first time I have experienced an overly salty meal at the Oakley Arms, I had a salty tarragon polenta last Mother's Day (which I didn't complain about at the time). We like the venue and atmosphere at the Oakley Arms but after a couple of negative food experiences and lack of resolution, it has unfortunately put us off returning.

I've eaten at the Oakley many times and generally found the standards to be very good. However on the occasion of my 70th birthday and taking a party of 13 along to celebrate with me, I was absolutely appalled at the service we received. My sons had taken balloons earlier in the day to be put on the table. When we got into the dining room there was no sign of them and my son had to ask for them. Our booking was for 5.30, our order wasn't taken till 6pm. 6.30 by the time the starters were served. By 7.30 we were still waiting for mains!! We asked for dessert menu then no one bothered to come and take any orders. My son asked for my birthday cake to be brought out and they didnt know where it was !!!! It eventually turned up. The service overall was appalling from start to finish. My son ordered a steak medium to well and it was like shoe leather when it came with one burnt mushroom on the top.Needless to say he complained and it was taken off the bill. I found the place to be overbooked and understaffed. From feeling confident about my dining choice to celebrate my birthday I went to disappointed and disgusted. It will be a long time before I return here if ever.

Awful food and service. Apart from the one staff member who was friendly the bar staff were decidedly unfriendly, they couldn't even say 'hello' as this was too much for them. I'd ordered 1 bottle of champagne and when I entered the bar to order a second the response communicated was this was an effort for them; they couldnt even try and smile and were not at all hospitable. It felt like they were doing me a favour selling me a £59 bottle of champagne. Regarding the food, all I can say was its the worst I've ever eaten and there were perhaps 4 pieces of tortellini in a green sauce that was tasteless apart from high amount of salt and spice!! Huge disappointment as my son had just got married that same day so what should have been a really nice family meal was the opposite due to inhospitable staff (except for the one) and dreadful food. I do not recommend and would not return. It's a shame as it's a nice setting; which is the only good thing about it.

Went here for a drink only although it seems to be mainly an eatery. Apparently it used to be a country club which explains the upscale ambience. Apparently the food is good. Downside is that there was only one member of staff manning the bar and we were third in the queue so it took a while. The lady in the queue behind us walked off after waiting a while. Beers were on the pricey side . It was warm outside so we sat lakeside and had our drinks. As it’s mainly an eatery there were only a handful of folks around after 9pm on a Wednesday night. Might go back one day for a meal

Such a shame, lovely setting but awful service and cold food. Arrived at 6pm, the pub was about half full. Tried to order food but told our order could not be taken for half an hour, tried again after 30 minutes but told we would have to wait another 20 minutes. After the order was finally taken the food arrived fairly quickly but was delivered without knives and forks and by the time we got our cutlery the food was cold. I think it may be ok if not as busy but on the day we went the staff could clearly not cope.

We passed the pub by chance during a detour and thought it looked very nice from the outside so decided to visit at a later date. We were not disappointed. We were very surprised at how big the premesis were. Ample room for plenty of people. We did not realise that it was dog friendly otherwise we would have brought ours along - there was a clear dog friendly vibe with a doggie menu available. The food was very tasty, plentiful and served quickly with very friendly wait staff. The only slight grumble is that the bread served with the soup would have been better warm, but it did not detract from how good the soup itself was. I had the fish and chip, my partner the Steak burger and neither of us were disappointed. The sticky toffee pudding was again tasty, although perhaps a little expensive for what it was, but everything else was worth the price we paid. A good range of ales on tap, very friendly barman. We definitely will be going with friends and our dogs again at a later date.

Halfway through our main.meal a party group of about 20 adults an so many kiddies over took the bar area I mean took over actually knocking my husband's chair an brushing his shoulders 1 crappie spilled some of his full point just missing my husband coat on back of his chair they were very loud . in actual fact they weren't at fault it's the Oakley s fault for putting us on a table in front of bar area when they knew that there was a party of around 20 they were there for about 15 /20 mins greeting each other as they came in and buying rounds of drinks. What we should have done was get up and walk out . Totally spoiled our evening

me and my partner booked a table for valentines day, and unfortunately, were very disappointed, we were sat next to the fire, however, it was not lit. Even though the restaurant was not busy the service was very slow, there was a long wait to be spoken to, a long wait for drinks and even longer wait for food, we have been here on busier days and got better service and served a lot quicker, the food has increased in price but decreased in portion size and quality, whicg is a shame as me and my partner really enjoy dining at the Oakley arms, my side order of buttered veg was not buttered and was sat in a puddle of water at the bottom of the bowl which was very disappointing. My partner could not enjoy his meal straight away as the server had not brought him a steak knife for his steak and when asked they could not find one in the kitchen so had to search for one, the onion rings tasted of oil and undercooked. A male server was having a conversation with the table next to us and we assumed they were his friends as they were talking about going out and getting drunk and using inappropriate language which also ruined the atmosphere of the evening for us. We were not asked if we would like any other drinks after we had finished our first ones even though we had empty glasses on our table which remained on the table until we left, the waitress did ask us about dessert but took a while to return to the table to take our order, overall, it was a very disappointing evening, which was a first for us at the oakley arms, we normally recommend this place to friends and family but will not be doing that this time around.

A second visit and a poor experience after the previous visit we made just before Christmas. We were recommend this pub because it was dog friendly, I accept that we should have booked in advance but as we had not done so on a previous visit we did not think that we would need to. Previously the staff made every effort to make us and the dogs welcome but on this visit we were curtly told that there were no tables available for people with dogs and no effort was made to let us know when a table might become available. The service was cursory and borderline rude, I ordered a Guinness Zero, being a non-drinker and a wine for my wife, I didn’t see the can and I strongly suspect that I was given the original Guinness, the cans hold less than a pint yet I realised that I had a full pint. The environment is very pleasant but the poor service lets it down. We left without finishing our drinks and found a very decent curry house for a takeaway. We won’t be returning.

We had a meal here the day before our wedding at a local wedding venue. We had written to the manager a few months prior asking if we could book quite a large table as we'd have about 18 of us. The pub is absolutely beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful, they seated us in our own area of the pub so that we'd be away from other guests. The food was phenomenal, I don't think there were any empty plates! My only slight criticism would be the time it took for the entire meal, I think we spent about 2.5 hours in total and we did seem to wait quite awhile between courses, but we had a large table so I imagine it was to ensure all food came out together. I would absolutely recommend this pub to anyone and all our friends and family said what a gorgeous pub it was. Thanks to all the staff at The Oakley arms for making our night before our wedding extra special 🤍

Edit: just looked at some of the pictures of the lamb others have posted, and this was FAR from what they tried to con me with. Wish I'd take a picture of this shower, but I would have been embarrassed to have it in my gallery. Avoid if you want decent food or service. The Xmas menu has most the same stuff from the main menu BUT the exact same items cost 2-4quid more on the set price Xmas special deal menu, than just ordering the same from the main menu separately, depending on what you go for. Anyway, went for the lamb shoulder, minted new potatoes, seasonal veg etc. ok so got told no new potatoes, so I could have roasts or mash. Chose roasts, no probs. £25, so was expecting a good meal. Took 45mins to get food. The lamb came, the 4 roasts were dry and hours old, the "seasonal veg" was what seemed like microwaved swede mash, and cabbage - the sort of pre-prepped thing you get from Morrisons. And the lamb was full of sinew, again very much like the stuff you get in vaccumn bags for Mozzers, all just dumped on the plate. Honestly if this had been 15 quid then ok, tasteless disappointing food, but at least some kind of value. But £25??? Joke. Took it back to the bar and they looked at me like I'd got two heads and said to me, 'that's what the lamb is like'. Said theyd change it for what else i fancied, no apology or owt. so I went for the burger. Burger was nice but just came with firm, dry old french fries, and nothing else - no side salad, coleslaw blah blah for 17.50. Well if you wanna pay 25 quid for canteen food, then fine, or 18 just for a burger and old, thrown on the plate fries, then go for it. And then they tried to keep the lamb on the bill too! Oh and enjoy the ages wait to get it as well. One of the worst meals for years, but at premium prices. They gave out vouchers to everyone at the end as part of promo, could win up to free meal for whole table - wouldn't even go back if we won top prize and didn't have to pay. Funny thing is, that by trying to fob off canteen food as premium pub food they: Lost £25 for the pathetic lamb dish Forgot to add the £18 extra burger Took off a round of drinks, so about £30 So they lost over £70 - for trying to pull a fast one.

We visited on a Saturday for a family meal before Christmas and left disappointed. The service was slow, we had to ask 3 times for water on the table. The servers were young and seemed inexperienced, not the best service. One meal came out cold and had to be sent back for another go in the microwave. The other three meals were fine, however plates were stone cold. We have been before and had a better experience but I wouldn't rush to go back, would rather pay a bit more and have a meal at Lester's Arms down the road, much better.

Booked The Oakley Arms for a pre-Christmas family meal for 4pm on a Sunday afternoon. Both my parents wanted the Turkey but there was none left! My dad ended up having sausage and mash with chewy cabbage which he couldn't eat. There were loads of staff but all looked pretty fed up to be working! Not much festive cheer here today!

Went for a works Christmas party. It was absolutely packed but we did not have to wait at all. The floor staff were all hard working and polite and the food that came out of the kitchen was excellent. Top marks to the chef, this was one of the nicest meals I have had in a long time.

I visited for lunch with my partner. I didn’t like my mains so my partner tried to eat some it before realising he also really didn’t like it. The lovely gentleman who serves us, James came back to check if our mains were okay and when I raised my concerns about my meal, he was so polite and understanding. He offered me another meal off the menu and while I refused because my partner had already eaten off it, the fact that he offered was just amazing! The customer service was great and the ambience festive too. They quickly turned a not so great experience into a better one and I cannot fault this business at all! Thanks James!

A bigger than expected beautiful country pub with a garden, patio, and pond area with ducks. Good sized carpark inside has real log fires in a beautiful country cottage setting. We visited for a work Christmas meal unfortunately non of my pre ordered menu options were avaliable and I only found out on arrival. This was really disappointing and I missed out on a starter with the rest of the large party. In future it would be helpful to let the booker know there is an issue before and not when everyone arrives to sit down. I chose lamb as a substitute which was lovely but was not happy non of the 3 courses was available. The meals had good portions, the lamb was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. The bar has a good selection of beers but we were disappointed no cocktails were avaliable althought the top shelf options were there. It would be great if the bar staff could make a few of the basics. The 10% alcohol pre made mixes in small bottles dont compare. A lovely cosy countryside pub for winter or beautiful spot for summer. I would recommend a visit.

Great pub, with lovely location and wonderful staff, but they are terrible at answering their phone, these days. I know there is a meal booking system on their website, but I would imagine that some people would still rather book by phone (if they have a special request for example) and it's virtually impossible to do that, at the moment. I tried ringing them at various times on 3 separate days this week and the phone just rings and rings. It took me 18 (YES, EIGHTEEN) attempts to get through. I wonder how many people are put off by this and how much business The Oakley is losing as a result. Such a shame, because it's a great pub, run by lovely people.

Food was o.k. but service was really slow.We had to wait an hour for our food and the children were impatient for their food having waited so long.It wasn't easy trying to keep young children five and under entertained for such a long time whilst we waited for our food.It was my birthday meal so wanted all my family to be with us. The cost of the meals were quite high in view of the service and wait. They try to make you order more drinks while you wait for your food. All in all...disappointing...I won't be returning

We always have an excellent dining experience here. Special mention to Blake, behind the bar and everywhere else, it seemed. My husband chose steak, ale & mushroom pie, whilst I had seared fillet of sea bass. Both meals were 5 star and exceptional value for money. It was very busy, but we only waited around 15 minutes to be served - without prior booking. 11/11/2024

Brilliant place to visit with fantastic views in a hidden location, definitely worth many more visits, the service was warm and welcoming which definitely added to our experience, my only negative was I felt the menu was not vegan or vegetarian friendly and seemed a little confusing, but apart from that it's a place most people will enjoy visiting.

Went for Sunday lunch early evening, it was busy but unfortunately my meal of roast beef was just warm, we had ordered drinks I had a glass of Prosecco which was flat it had a slice of orange in it which I took out as this had made it taste awful. We also ordered a bottle of red wine which came after we had our meal. I did inform the waitress which her reply was we will take your comments on board we paid £85 for the meal and drinks for 2. We will not be returning even though we have been a few times in the past.

Visited today with my mom to treat her for what should have been a nice meal for the two of us. When we arrived no one acknowledged us for around 10-15 mins so we asked at the bar for a table and were finally seated. We ordered two lamb dinners and only one had arrived 45 minutes later (a long wait time for a Monday). We couldn’t get hold of any staff members to ask about my mom’s dinner as we couldn’t see anyone around except for a busy lady serving a crowd of people at the bar. Eventually after I had finished eating my dinner, we managed to ask the lady at the bar where my moms food was to which she was very unhelpful and replied only one had been ordered (and seemed to have blamed us for the mistake). She wasn’t very apologetic and advised there was no one else I could speak to about the situation. She spoke with the lady who had served us and she admitted she had forgotten to add the second dinner on as she was new. We weren’t very happy with how the original lady at the bar had handled the situation, especially when you are paying almost £30 for a single roast dinner and glass of juice! She eventually gave us tickets for a free meal next time (only valid on a Monday-Thursday) and I still paid full price for the meal I had eaten on my own (£28 for just one meal and juice). Very disappointing experience, my mom was so excited to try this place and they really let us down! Poor service and long waiting times, wouldn’t recommend or visit again.

We were on our way to a conference via Boscobel House, and it was staff there that recommended The Oakley Arms for a coffee (we were eating at the conference centre). Staff were really helpful and the pub is very comfortable. There is plenty of car park space. Lovely warm fire. This place is definitely on our bucket list for a meal next time we are in the area.

A proper pub Called in for a drink after visiting the Rock Houses and had a great time. The bar staff and locals are all so friendly my wife never stopped talking to them the whole time we were there! Bathams beer was excellent, as usual and we had some crusty cobs and pork pie which was also great. It made a great end to the day

Great little coffee shop in Wombourn. Nice cappuccino & hot chocolate. Always busy which is a good sign in itself, even on Monday morning at 10 (my usual time!) Not eaten here so cannot comment on the food. It's a nice place.
