This is an absolute local gem, came here for mothers day sunday lunch and was blown away. I had glorious camembert which was oozing with garlic and gorgeous bread, it even came with a little pot of caramelised onions which was the cherry on top. I had roast pork which was cooked beautifully but crackling was a let down, roasties and gravy is some of tye best ive had. There were a few random veg on the plate as well which were abit bland but soon forgotten about when the rest of buttery veg came out. Portions match the prices and service was friendly. Good Job!

Stopped in on a whim with my husband today for lunch…from the moment we crossed the doorstep we felt welcome at Lychgate. We ordered the parsnip soup with brown bread and tea for two. The soup was amazing; a hint of ginger and the perfect consistency. Bread was also delicious…from a bakery in nearby Rudge. We took ginger and sticky apple toffee cake slices home for later…so glad we did! If you’re looking for a lovely dining experience or just a beverage, somewhere off the beaten path, this is the place for you. Easy to park near it, too! Enjoy! We will be back soon!

Visited here on Saturday lunchtime as reviews on here positive. On entering the floor was sticky. Soft drinks were in cans and had to ask for glasses. Menu sticky. Food took ages to come and the pub was quiet. Positives: naan was good, chicken tikka wrap liked by family member. Chips ok and hot. However, the chicken madras meals had rock hard chicken. I would say it was old and reheated. No member of family ate the meat. The rice looked green and watery. Not nice. Told staff re chicken and still charged full amount. Didn’t want to cause scene as a family member invited me and paid. Will not return. Avoid.

Amazing find!!! We came to stay at the campsite just down the road and decided to have a walk to find the local pub, and what a little gem this is!! We came here every day of our 5 day stay! When we arrived Friday evening no food was being served but we were welcomed with open arms for a drink and to watch the local darts match! On Saturday we decided to go for lunch and it was absolutely amazing!! Everything homemade and fresh! What more can you ask for!? We had Pie of the day, gammon steak, scampi and kids chicken nuggets ( freshly battered chicken chunks) and it was all 10/10! Then the puddings wow!!! We had drinks on Sunday and Monday and asked if they were serving food Tuesday as we had a mini moto bike training day at the local track at Kinsham. The team couldn’t have been more accommodating if they tried!! There was 28!!! Of us! And nothing was a bother!! We rang the order through earlier in the day, with the view of knowing all the food wouldn’t come all at once as it’s all freshly cooked and served straight Away! The children were served first (12) and then the adults and it was absolutely gorgeous!! Fresh beer battered fish and chips, Scampi and Chips, gorgeous curry sauce all piping hot! Honestly couldn’t fault a thing!! One of the children in the group is coeliac and we asked could we bring his own food along and again it was no trouble! It was cooked and served for him alongside the other children so he didn’t feel left out ( a really big thing for him - thank you!) We will 100% be coming back as regulars as we train throughout the winter! Thank you all again so so much for being so welcoming, accommodating and serving us all with a constant smile!! Take care, Danielle

They have the best coffee in Southam town centre. Service was a bit slow, but there was a rush at the time. Very friendly.

I have eaten here a few times when meeting up with family or friends. The soup is very good and comes with croutons and thick sliced bread. The paninis are excellent and come with a salad and crisps. The food is plentiful, enjoyable and good value for the money. There are cakes and scones etc available too, the staff are friendly and helpful. A lovely cafe within the beautiful Gloucester Cathedral.
