Many real ales are always on see picture and always well kept by knowledgeable bar staff here Tuesday 7th March 2023 I revisited this gem of a locals proper real ale pub Today, a plethora of hand pumped ales on offer is possibly one of the largest in Great Britain. This pub has to be one of the best proper pubs for real ales in Saturday 20th April 2024 This is one of the best real ale pubs in the United Kingdom. I've been in 2000 real ale pubs read all my previous reviews of the wonderful real ale pub Keep up this great work all involved Usually, double figures of hand pumped ales on offer Saturday 14th September 2024 This pub in Walsall has always served a great pint of real ales and has so many real ales on it is a must to drink real ales on and there all well kept. My only concerns were today that the staff were very lack lustre and the service waiting time was far to long. I waited 10 minutes to be served, and people queuing behind me got served before me

Brill pub and great staff, had the dream team on tonight Kev and Jodie, great section of ales and extremely friendly service. In busy times we expect a 10 minute wait, but always worth it! Thanks Kim

Large traditional pub, tastefully restored. We arrived at opening time for lunch, so quiet at first but filling up later. Large collection of draught beers. Efficient bar service, and food was delivered in a reasonable time. Our filled baguettes came with chips and salad, and were quite substantial meals. We enjoyed the food.

Haven’t tried the food so cayrate it. This pub sells real ale served to perfection! If you want to try real ale. Come to the BCA - you won’t get better choice or better kept beer as anywhere!

Great pub, good atmosphere, excellent beers (black country ales). It's in the centre of town within very easy access of the bus station. Definitely worth a visit!

A quick stop off here for a drink but, had a great first experience. Humorous and warm Bar Team experience and guests were friendly too! Great space both indoors and outside considering it's City City location!

Having recently visited this pub on a very rare occasions I can't review the food.Bar service was outstanding during our last visit we were greeted by two gentlemen on a Friday the 22nd of March. They where absolutely astounding in and of them selfs I dont drink ales personally, but the shorter of the two advised me on a lovely pale ale which i will continue to seek out at other establishments within the west midlands,we will of cause be coming back again time and time again.Customer service alone, Its such a delight to walk into a establishment with such character and great ales. I would highly recommend if not for anything else but for the two lively gents i met on my visit. Establishment:8/10 Customer services:10/10 Choice of refreshments:9/10 By far best bar in walsall due to experience.

I live in Dublin the past 2 years and love Guinness, never had a Guinness in the UK anywhere near as good, until yesterday, well done team, it was absolutely perfect, the twist and stout was beautiful too, great pub with really good selection of beers, £5.30 a Guinness but when it comes out that good you’ll pay it all day

This place is full of character,and charm great for all ages,staff are really nice but the thing about this pub is the atmosphere and the food is great value and also absolutely delicious and plentiful would definitely recommend for a easy laid back but enjoyable experience

For any of my real ale loving mates this pub in Walsall would be an absolute dream .. 20 hand pumps of different ales.. I went with Oakams Pendulum, brilliant at £4.00 a pint. Every pint I have seen poured has been in perfect condition and clear as a bell, the cellarman must be a wizard 🍺🧙🏿‍♂️

What it lacks in charm it makes up for in choice. Fantastic and varied range of ales. They don't hide the prices from you as they're displayed on a screen over the bar!

This isn’t just the best pub in town but one of the best pubs in the West Midlands. Over 20 beers on cask and keg available plus numerous bottles. The food is top notch too. A decent town centre location just a few minutes walk from Walsall railway station. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who know their ale. A must-visit if ever you’re in town.

A huge selection of ales and ciders, with 23 taps in total, split level pub with plenty of seating spread across the floors. A short walk from the railway and bus stations.

Been here for a pint a few times. Lovely pub, and the choice & quality of beer is always great. Finally had food here today, and was worth the wait. Just a simple burger & chips, but it all tasted great. Will definitely try more of the menu soon as I get chance. Also, the 90's grunge / britpop soundtrack on in the background was most enjoyable. Couldn't fault a thing, not that I was looking to!

I had given up my attempt to walk across Cannock Chase in a downpour, so on my way back to Birmingham on the train, thought I'd have a look round Walsall, as you do. I circled all round the town and back to what I'd thought looked the most promising pub. I like this brewery chain, anyway, and the front looked elegant, unlike much of Walsall, which exudes neglect. The pub was even more terrific inside. It comprises a grand complex of rooms on various levels, all beautifully carpeted and furnitured in a plush, traditional style. The main bar is gorgeous, all artistically furbished in art deco style, and with a food hatch which looked like something from the 1920s. The barmaid was friendly and fun, and she turned out to be the landlady's daughter. They bantered forth with each other between the main bar and the food hatch, and with the clutch of regulars sitting opposite the bar counter in what one of them called the drinkers' tables. By chance I was in the midst of that lot, and so I found myself chatting merrily with the various characters who drifted in and out. I think I had 5 different pints from the vast range on offer, including BFG, Pig on the Wall, and Heel Stone. All were well priced and kept, and induced no after effects except happiness. Walsall may have its critics, but both this pub and its lovely characters were pure class.

Food is cheap but good, pub is basic but nice. I went for a cheap lunch and I was happy. We had a chicken curry of the day and a spicy chicken burger.

Simply the best ale and food place in town

Having researched good pubs with food in Walsall town centre i was looking forward to visiting this place which has plenty of good reviews. I arrived at 4.30pm on a Tuesday, the building is a lovely place, well kept with plenty of character, and ordered a pint of vanilla stout which was really good and well priced, although the lady who served me wasn’t particularly friendly but efficient enough. I returned to the bar to order the same drink and asked for the food menu which, according to the website, is served till 6.30pm, to be told rather curtly, that food orders stop at 3.30pm except saturdays, whilst the lady waved vaguely in the direction of a cabinet that contained rolls and sandwiches of some kind, whilst engaging rather more enthusiastically with a near by table of locals. I soon left in search of food.

Fantastic pub. Me and children moved here last week, always made to feel welcome when we go in. Very dog friendly pub too. Not rated the food as we haven't tried yet

The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The bar snacks are also yummy too. Cracking pub with traditional values.

This is the best place in Walsall to go to for food and drinks. We ordered the fish and chips. It was a bit pricey. The portions were good. The food was hot and delicious. I highly recommend this location.

If you like your real 🍺🍺🍺🍺ale this is the pub I had a cider it was 6.8 and it was a lovely drink 🍺🍺🍺👍and also its nice and clean

The fact that I like this and most other BCA pubs will give away my age. That and I also have a dog. The decor, food and emphasis on real ale in all their pubs is more or less on the same theme. My view is that if it's not broken, then there's no need to fix it. What sets this one apart from some of the others is the exceptional friendliness of the staff and indeed the customers. My new local when in or around Walsall.

Lets start with the good parts. Ambience was good. Staff were friendly. Had a ploughmans and it was lovely. Huge pork pie. Slab of cheese. Ham, coleslaw, baguette, pickles. Gorgeous Now the bad parts. There were no bad parts. Unfortunately I was driving so couldn't sample any of the 20 handpulled ales. Gives me a reason to return. As an out of towner, I think Walsall has a lot of bad pubs. This isn't one of them. It is a real gem.

Great pub from the chain of Black Country ales. Lots of real ales with popular ones also. Besides meals they do bar snacks. Nice clean pub as are all the BCA houses.

on arriving at the pub myself and my family were greeted by a man in a full tuxedo, more than willing to seat us. We were all then gave individual napkins with our names on (i dont know how they knew our names) Our seats were engraved with our birthdays and birth stones. They then took us out the back to pick our own live chicken that would later be made into casserole. The food was 5* quality, better than the shard in london. I cried whilst eating my desert and the manager came out and gave us back massages to finish such a touching experience. My grandmother has written the owners in her will and left all of her assets to them.

Been here a couple times with my fiancé and friends. I always have just vodka so I can't comment on anything else but it's nice. I do wish they had some vegan bites to eat as sometimes we get a bit hungry. But the vibe here beats anything else.

This is becoming one of my favourite pubs and definitely my favourite local one. It is a very cozy, traditional and comfortable place with an incredible choice of drinks, ales, beers, ciders and stronger alcoholic beverages, you name it. Ciders here are the main attraction, Lilley's on tap is absolutely beautiful, Pina Colada being my favourite. Food is traditional British pub grub but it's really nice and has that homemade feel and taste to it. The owners are lovely and very friendly people. The public as well which frequents this establishment is also nice, quiet and polite, very different to your usual Walsall boozer audience. Overall, I highly recommend Black Country Arms!

One of my favorite public houses with loads of real ales always on pull. Always clean and inviting with a fresh choice of homemade cobs and also food served most days. The staff have a good knowledge of the beers they serve and can guide you through the choice of real ales. I would definitely recommend this venue as a fantastic place to stop and enjoy the culture.

Roast potatoes on the bar are my new favourite thing. Lovely. Good beer. Quiet on a Saturday lunch while the family was shopping. I'll be back !!!
