Wasn't sure what I was in for but upon going in, I loved it. Selling vault city is an instant 5 star in my mind. Plus the food was fantastic too. To top it off, the staff were all really nice people! I'll be visiting again next time I'm in Birmingham!

Great quirky decor, excellent service, fabulous food. Had a roast dinner, it was great! Friendly staff, rooftop seating also available.

I had a couple of drinks here in the sunshine this past Sunday. It was a lovely experience. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the overall vibe of the place was relaxed and cool. The music playing on the rooftop seating area was chill and just right for the afternoon. If you’re in Digbeth definitely grab a drink at The Ruin.

I visited this bar for the first time yesterday. It's a cool and shabby-chic place with friendly staff and good drinks,. The seating arrangements allow you to be as involved or not as you like, and the music being played was wonderfully chilled. If you're in Digbeth I recommend stopping here for a swift one.

This place rules! Great food, speedy service and a wonderful atmosphere - roof terrace is perfect in the sun and whoever was in charge of tunes played absolute bangers the whole time.

This pub is a little gem in back street Digbeth. It's both quirky and cosy. Modern and traditional. You could take your coolest mates or your mum. I have been going on and off for several years. My dad used to drink here in the 50s and 60s. The staff are friendly, there is a good choice of local craft beers and a couple of ales. Prices are around average for central Birmingham, the food looks good and there were a few people eating. We found a cosy corner in the bar, it was busy but not loud. There is a covered yard and a roof top seating area as well. All in all, a great pub.

Absolutely love it here poped in on a Sunday with the dog staff very friendly and food is lush 😋 highly recommend the Sunday roast dinner awesome portions you won't leave hungry after one from here. Popped in for a pint on the way to a restaurant. What a lovely quirky place with lots of nooks and crannies to sit in. Will definitely pop in again if in the area.

Wow. Just an all round fantastic bar and venue. Incredibly lovely staff at the bar and in the kitchen, GREAT set of very different spaces, each of them fun, and other patrons who were just great. Could not recommend this place enough. The perfect modern Birmingham Pub!

A very interesting venue, the decor is vintage mixed with retro. Which I personally loved. The service was excellent, all the staff were friendly. The building had a lot of different areas; multiple smoking areas including in and outdoor with a roof balcony seating area. They have awesome artwork on the walls outside. I imagine this venue would be completely different in the afternoon to the nightime. The food was nice, some items nicer than others but overall was a good experience. Could of been better on the food but overall was a lovely time and we were catered to very well.

Love this bar, possibly one of my favourites love the inside area and the playlist is stonkin' always a good pint

my first time going out by myself as a woman (22y) in Birmingham and it's really a great place, I'm really happy with my choice of going here as my first place alone. it's safe, comfortable, fun, amazing kind staff, bartender was lovely. I suffer from social anxiety so it's hard for me to go out and enjoy my time somewhere out and The Ruin was perfect. I was up in the smoking area and it's really chill, good atmosphere and great! I'm not used to going out to drink but I had a Moscow Mule for 8 quid and for the amount of the drink and everything included I say it's a fair price but I'm not familiar with drink prices so I can't say confidently it's the best price out there but definitely worth it 👌👌 Thank you for a good first experience c:

What a lovely place, inside and outside. Excellent and friendly service. I love the 'electronics' wall dressings.

Good food - slightly slow service early on. Pudding was cold on the base - as one of the earlier bookings I'd expect food to be spot on but there is room for improvement.

Nice drinks and friendly bar staff. Perfect place for a couple of pints before the match.

Used to have a great choice of cans; selection not as good as it used to be.

We visited this pub as part of the "Digbeth Pub Tour". Lovely venue and we ended clambering up to the roof top garden seating area for tasty beers with great views. One to visit. 👌🏻

Quirky pub with a nice, chill vibe. Staff are friendly, atmosphere is great and the background music is a nice touch. Decor is funky, seems to be a different style per room - the front room decorated with old computer parts is very interesting. Never seen anything like it! Drink prices are pretty standard for Birmingham. Will definitely be back again!

Superb quirky bar on floodgate street in Digbeth. Has the real independent vibe about it which makes it all the more appealing. Recommend

One of my favourite Digbeth pubs, this is a blues pub when we are at home, the beers are top class, the staff are all really friendly and there's a courtyard for outdoor use

Loved it, Digbeth is amazing, so cool with lots of different people. The ruin was not too busy. Prices were ok, staff lovely. Good atmosphere. Never been before but would go again. We were a big group of ages 26 to 65 did not feel out of place. Tiny pub with 2 toilets. So go before you're desperate! Food looked good, although we didn't eat.

I can only give this venue 4 stars as I didn't eat here. It gets worse; I didn't even have an alcoholic drink here! I came on recommendation from a friend and called in on a warm Saturday afternoon in early May. A visual delight; quirky and off the wall with a fantastic vibe and really friendly staff. A smashing 'find' for me anyway. Edit; I called in again today, 27th August and I like it even more! Had a good prowl around as it wasn't too busy. The young barperson who spoke to me pointed me in the right direction(s) for taking photos of the street art for which this part of the city is renowned. I really like this place.

Came to the ruin without knowing what the place was, without a recommendation and only because the outdoor venue we planned to visit was called off due to the rain… SO glad that happened! Great atmosphere, great staff, extremely individual and the pop up food kitchen had the BEST beef tacos going and deserve a Permanent spot of their own! Music already on at midday with DJ’s through the Saturday!

The ruin was a recommendation from a lady at the brick market up the road. The bar is cool lots of different rooms and a roof terrace. They serve a nice selection of beers at good prices. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Looking forward to going back for a drink at the beginning of the night rather than the end. Friendly pub with lots of different rooms. It's dark, there's plenty of seating and there's circuit boards all over the wall. What's not to like? Decent Guinness too

We recently went to the Ruin for a Sunday Roast and it was absolutely delicious. Lovely big portion with all the trimmings. We sat on the terrace in the sunshine too so will definitely be back!

Always a fantastic visit to The Ruin. The decor is brilliant and quirky throughout and the new(ish) roof terrace is a perfect little chill spot. Great selection of drinks available with fantastic bar service too.

In digbeth and a good old fashion pub but quirky which holds good venues. Food was really good and tasty , new menu from the last time i visited and you use the app to order the food , very quick service too., staff really friendly and helpful, great night with a good atmosphere, brilliant music as DJ night on so a good mix , roof top bar and other outdoor seating area , only thing i would add is if you are visiting in the colder months then wrap up as if seating outside no heaters (none that i saw and one i did see wasn't on )would visit again and recommend

Sunday Roast amazing. The beef tender, loved the roast spuds. Really enjoyed and would definitely recommend. I will be back 100%. ☺

First visit here for sunday lunch. What an atmospheric place! Friendly staff and amazing food. I enjoyed a vegetable wellington whilst others had pork or beef. All of us thought it was fabulous. Its so interesting inside. Then you leave and can continue your day with other things to see and do. 100% recommend it.

Went here as a 1st bar on a stag, great little place! It's in old industrial buildings with almost a maze like feel to it, with retro gaming added over the top as a theme. Really enjoyed it! Had some food here too which was spot on, hot and fresh.

Bar staff friendly, nice atmosphere, went in as part of a stag party and the staff were straight in for having a laugh with us etc. Would recommend 100%

First time at this pub/bar. Trendy little establishment with character. Beer was excellent in particular the Underground Medicine Golden Ale. Relaxing and very friendly venue which I will be visiting again. Recommend a visit.
