Breakfast choice a appalling. Considering they have a well stock M & S Food Hall downstairs. Rarely have a range of breakfast pastries, and M & S bake so many great pastries! Lucky if youāre able to get a plain croissant. Maybe they just want people to buy hot breakfasts? The service is painfully slow. Never sufficient staff. I would imagine this is why so many are not customer orientated and grumpy. I hasten to add this is not all staff. I do love their coffee and food, just need to widen the range, get more staff and speed up the system.

They do the best tasting drinks on the high street but sadly I cant go there anymore, almost every time I ask for soya milk they give me cows milk. I always have to stop them half way through to change the milk, and check with them at the end. Today I was too slow and they poured cows milk into my only travel mug. What if I was allergic?! What if I didnāt check every time? Iām vegan for ethical reasons and it upsets me that my mug has now contained cows milk. It wasnāt a busy time as I was the only customer at the counter. They need to take things like allergens much more seriously. Will not be coming back.

Overpriced cafe offering bottles of coke/tango Ā£2.75 and sandwiches Ā£4.95. No presentation like you see in the photos. When asked if it was really Ā£2.75 for a fizzy drink the responce was " I don't set the prices I just work here!" Would highly reccomend a picnic and eating in the many stannary picnic areas. Such a shame as we'd passed on another cafe locally at a precious stop off!

I have to say, this was the most interesting coffee stop Iāve experienced. Excusing the 80ās decor, which is quite comical and endearing in a Victorian seaside town, the set-up of this establishment is somewhat unique. On arrival there was no covid secure guidelines in place, no masks being work by staff, no sanitiser on arrival and no one way system. We ordered two cream teas, now, given we are in Devon, famous for fresh produce, pastry and good food, the last thing I expected was a microwaved scone as you watched. The score was supermarket bough, and yes microwaved (in case you didnāt read right first time) and the clotted cream, cheap thaw and serve. Equally the cheap Jam (from Brakes) was not what I expected. Come on, itās a decent venue, put some effort into what your serve. For Ā£5 tea and scone you could locally buy scones (sold at the bakery down the road) and buy some local cream or jam with provenance from one of the local food markets. Really could make more of an effort. On the plus side the cakes did look like effort had been made but didnāt try.

Mmmmm not sure about this one. Firstly itās the cleanest Spoons Iāve been in. Nice space to sit in but thereās a few too many tables, this results in a maze that you have to negotiate to get around the place. The downside was my breakfast and tea. The teacup was greasy so a layer of oil sat on top of my morning cuppa. New cup just the same. Breakfast arrives and everything is looking ok. Oh dear, itās only just warm. Really couldnāt be bothered to complain to one of the 12 year old waiting staff as the oily tea was almost too much for them to comprehend little alone the concept of the recommended temperature for cooked food. Would go back and give it another go. Hopefully next time the chief will cook to order instead of having everything ready under a heat lamp.

Sainsburys decided to keep this cafe open. It used to be really good however this morning was diabolical. Order x2 breakfasts....we were given ticket No 1. So, we get someone else's eggs on toast , and had to get the receipt out to corroborate that we actually ordered full English. Whilst engaged with a mos, another breakfast tray arrives but again not our order. Eventually brunch arrives, and it was very cold, possibly the mini breakfast was sat on the side whilst the full English was cooked. Congealed egg, sausage which was undercooked. Perhaps some training may need to be undertaken about food safety. Who wants to be ill over Christmas. Ending on a positive, the Americano was good and I saved myself some calories. Such a shame.

Always loved this place, and always went there when on holiday in the area. Was a little shocked and saddened to pop by there to find it has (seemingly) gone out of business. While we couldn't eat there today, I'm still going to leave a 5/5 score for the many delicious meals we've had there in the past.

It's possibly the worst coffee I have ever had, asked for a flat white, no idea what turned up, it looked like a brownish liquid, no flavour, really wierd.

I don't opt for fish and chips very often as a takeaway option, but the vegan fish caught my eye and encouraged me to order. I have to say, super impressed with the vegan fish. Yes, it was a little oily, but that was just what I needed! Portion of chips was incredible, huge portionš My friend and I think we should have shared a portion instead of getting one each, but hey we've realised that now! I'll be ordering again when I need some proper British food vibes.

Visited The School House today, they were extremely busy, just the chef and 1 girl FOHā¦.. both were run off their feet. They smiled the whole time, service was great and I didnāt wait. The food was the best food Iāve eaten in a long time, everyone around me were also saying how amazing their food was. Really well doneā¦.. Iāll be back soon!

Avoid at all costs, waited over 45 minutes for a simple breakfast that was cold and inedible when it arrives. Staff rude, no apology and utterly disgusting.
