Sainsburys in Exeter

Came here are ordered 2 coffees and two breakfasts. Coffees were great. Staff came over with 2 plates of toast and said for us. No we replied. I showed the receipt and was told there had been an error. Fine, things happen. Then came back with 2 small breakfasts, so showed receipt showing 1 small and 1 large. Third time lucky? Noooo. Right orders but food lukewarm at best. Given a refund but that was a palaver. I'm afraid that is the last time I'd order food from here.

Sainsburys decided to keep this cafe open. It used to be really good however this morning was diabolical. Order x2 breakfasts....we were given ticket No 1. So, we get someone else's eggs on toast , and had to get the receipt out to corroborate that we actually ordered full English. Whilst engaged with a mos, another breakfast tray arrives but again not our order. Eventually brunch arrives, and it was very cold, possibly the mini breakfast was sat on the side whilst the full English was cooked. Congealed egg, sausage which was undercooked. Perhaps some training may need to be undertaken about food safety. Who wants to be ill over Christmas. Ending on a positive, the Americano was good and I saved myself some calories. Such a shame.

0 stars if that’s even possible, brought back an item to be told i would have to have a refund as they didn’t sell it anymore, just to walk down the aisle too find them right in front of me. Poor and rude service from the customer service lady on the desk, couldn’t let me speak or even crack a smile.

I have given a score of 2 only because the croissant and bacon were excellent. The problem was ordering, service and cleanliness. On the board going it it showed the names of different cups of coffee for sale, I wanted a latte size coffee but without milk - just strong black coffee, I was informed I could not have a cup I had to have a mug - silly me asked why it was advertised and was told it stoped when they closed for Covid. Eighteen months for a new poster seems a long time. I then explained I wanted a strong black coffee cup size. Then as I was moving away I was surprised when she asked me for my nectar card and payment . There was a queue of about eight behind me but at the other end of the counter was a lady doing nothing - her job was to make the coffees. Cleaning up the restaurant were three people, the restaurant was only half full and other bustling about in the kitchen - it would have speeded up service if three had been serving one tasking orders, one taking money and one service coffee so not to have a long queue. When I went to get the coffee we were given the filter coffee and not from the machine I expected as I had said expresso, the lady there could not change the order I would need to go back to where it was ordered - I excepted the coffee as my will to live was dissipating fast. It was flavoured water. The floor look like it had not been swept for days and the table sticky. What I felt was the final insult, one was expected to take our food trays to a rack when we had finished (not sure what the staff were doing in the restaurant). The price we paid was the same as other local cafes were one gets full service. However I assume the reason is Covid as that is given to all substandrd things now. After poor service I declined to take my tray to the rack - I thought it might give one of the 'staff wondering around' something to do. Staff handling food/drinks did not wear masks

Después de una larga espera para que me sirvieran, pregunté cuánto tiempo pasaría antes de que me sirvieran la comida, me dijeron que había que esperar 15 minutos. Hice mi pedido y esperé. Mientras estaba sentado, conversé con algunas personas que se quejaban de la espera de su comida. Les dije que había que esperar 15 minutos. ¡Solo se rieron! Después de que pasaron 30 minutos, fui a la caja para preguntar qué había pasado con mi comida y milagrosamente apareció. La cena asada estaba tibia, el budín de yorkshire estaba duro y los guisantes estaban marchitos. Pensé que la comida al menos se habría servido a la temperatura correcta, especialmente después del tiempo que tuve que esperar. Estaba demasiado harto y tenía hambre y tenía una cita para asistir, así que no había tiempo para conseguir comida en otro lado. Sentí que habría sido una pérdida de tiempo decir algo ya que otros se quejaban. La administración del café necesita ser observada, había 1 niña que parecía estar entrenando, por lo que no fue su culpa, literalmente la dejaron en el fondo para hacer frente a todo. Realmente es una pena que los estándares sean tan bajos. Podría ser un buen lugar para comer si se contrata al personal adecuado.

Paré a almorzar un domingo mientras estaba de compras, me comí un sándwich con una porción de batatas fritas, que era una porción de gran tamaño, mi esposo fue a comer salchichas y puré, que también era encantador y la salsa tenía un grosor perfecto, lo usaremos nuevamente por puro valor por dinero.

Used to use Sainsbury;s cafes quite a lot as a cheaper alternative. Not much choice these days and a big difference in branches.

No puedo creer este café. En realidad, una señora me pasó caminando mientras luchaba por sentarme en esta mesa llena de vajilla sucia. Supongo que no era su trabajo mientras miraba y deambulaba.La gente a mi alrededor con números en sus mesas obviamente esperando comida y tomando una mesa por persona.Algunos esperaron por 30 minutos, escuché a la dama decir a mí también.Dos señoras que sirven bebidas calientes a un flujo lento de clientes. ! !Otro deambuló empujando un poco de leche en un carrito. Otro deambular con algunos rollos del piso principal.ORGANIZAR. Esto necesita un cohete hasta su. . . . . . . ¡Increíble! ! ! Detener. Reorganizar y empezar de nuevo.

Ate after shopping one day recently, must say their ham egg and chips were fine but still think Tesco's do better. Friends tell me though their fish and chips are excellent, I shall try that another time.

Quick lunch, sad to see the curry had gone from the menu. Food was ok but the fish in the fish and chips was a bit bland.

Really disappointed in Sainsbury's full English breakfast today. Overpowering CHEAP tasting sausage, CHEAP tasting black pudding and tasteless field mushroom. Morrison's & Tesco breakfast miles ahead.

Bueno, qué sorpresa de la normaPensamos que apareceríamos y desayunar no había cola, que era bueno y uno de mis problemas fue que pedimos bebidas calientes, así que nos dijeron dónde ir al final y recoger lo que estaba bien, pero el personal estaba más interesado en chatear, teníamos repetirles nuestras bebidas y podríamos haber sido deshonestos y haber cambiado nuestro pedido, y como no estaban prestando atención, creo que deberían volver al antiguo sistema de pedidos de bebidas, ahora para el resto de nuestra visita hay muchas mesas vacías, pero todas tenía platos sucios y las mesas no habían sido limpiadas y aún más molesto, era bastante claro, es claro, pero podrían haberse aclarado fácilmente (pero luego hay clientes perezosos) en cuanto a la comida, salió Luke cálido e insípido, la tostada parecía que se había encogido en tamaño, echo de menos el viejo desayuno allí cuando conseguiste una porción decente por tu dinero y sabías que saldría caliente, lo siento Sainsburys pero evitaré el desayuno allí de ahora en adelante tienen perdió a la persona nel touch y un cliente valioso

Feels like you’re in a slightly dated warehouse, but efficient place to have coffee and a bite if you’re visiting Sainsbury’s.

Vinimos a tomar un café y un pastel rápido después de ir de compras. Hicimos cola, ordenamos y luego pagamos nuestro dinero. Luego tuvimos que unirnos a otra cola durante media hora más para tomar nuestro café. Para ser sincero, si no hubiéramos pagado, nos hubiéramos ido.No es un espacio grande, por lo que las mesas no despejadas no ayudaron a encontrar un lugar para sentarse.Necesidad de Sainsbury para repensar su oferta.

Whilst shopping at SAINSBURYS PINHOE we decided to stop with the family for a snack Coffee was delicious and nice and hot Our bacon rolls were tasty and perfectly cooked Our server was polite and helpful Highly recommended and we’ll be back soon Thanks

Visiting here several times and always a 30 to 40 minute wait... No different today a 40 minute wait and gosh was it awful! The chicken pie had 3 tiny tiny bits of chicken the rest was a complete mush which spilled and overflowed the plate in what can only be described as slop..... The staff are lovely but clearly struggling... Only one girl on the counter taking orders money and making the drinks...Come on Sainsburys ... your stores are lovely.. Clean , tidy with good food so please upgrade your restaurants

Had a quick coffee and bacon sandwich after shopping, I asked for bacon to be well done and it came out barely cooked! I sent it back for it to come out again with almost no bacon and no apologies just a rude and very miserable lady behind the counter! Well done Sainsbury’s Alphington Road exeter you’ve managed to ruin a simple bacon sandwich! Won’t ever eat here again!

Visited castle court cafe Bristol to do some Christmas food shopping and visited the cafe as we were hungry. I attempted to have the fish and chips, no fish and chips, none of this and none of that. I should have just given up. My partner had shepherds pie which just looked like slop on a plate, the chips were cold and greasy, the jacket potato and salmon I had were barely warm and the peas I had to ask for twice tasted off. This isn’t the sort of cafe you linger in as it’s a cold place and everything ends up cold very quickly. So if you in a rush and don’t mind indigestion this is the place for you. We won’t be back.

Waited as a few others over 40 mins, not busy not happy, food cold when it arrived won't be coming back

Not sure what is was but the tea in the Sainsburys cafe was not very good and being a hard-nosed black coffee drinker; well the coffee was too mild a flavour and no bitter kick. Average at best.

Stopped here for a coffee and cake for my lunch, service was good and the food and drink were also good, give it a try

Popped in for breakfast expecting a lovely meal but was disappointed, the Big breakfast at £4.60, that is with scrambled egg took ages to come and had cooled off, I guess it had been laying about for a while.

I've eaten in the Sainsbury's cafe twice and both meals have been good. The first time was just for tea and cake. Last week I had ham, egg and chips for my dinner but the eggs were a little underdone. The cafe is large and convenient above the store. Be aware that the mobile reception on Three is very poor here (to get any reception I have to sit on the comfy sofas by the windows on the Alphington road side).

Called in on a very quiet Sunday morning for breakfast. Coffee machine broken, not their fault, Oven broken again not their fault. Only breakfasts being served to a nearly empty restaurant.

Very enjoyable fish, chips and mushy peas after our weekly shop. Better than many so called fish and chip shops.

Been here a few times before starting shopping in the store. Can be a little busy at peak times, staff are friendly, food is good what more could you want..

We stopped here for lunch on the way from St Ives to Glastonbury. There are hot meals as well as snacks served here. Prices are reasonable. After lunch, we did abit of shopping before continuing on our way. Noticed that the petrol station by Sainsbury has reasonable petrol price.

Met with family for a lunch time snack whilst shopping Coffee was served hot and perfect and my bacon sandwich was superb Fresh bread and quality well cooked staff Friendly, helpful staff Definitely 5 star and we'll be back soon

Nice cafe, usually nice food but today had to return a jacket potato with cheese as it was barely warm, the cheese wouldn't melt! Returned it, (I hate having to do this anywhere) and got a nice hot replacement, staff helpful though. Also nice salad with meal, but a bit bland, some dressing with it would be nice even if it came in a sachet ...

Great choice of snacks and coffee in a very ice refurbished cafe. Ideal to. Grab a bite to eat when shopping.

Breakfast and coffee bit unsettling when you see the actual calories displayed next to the meal (macdonalds etc) However service was good and well presented

since its refit the restaurant is so much nicer than before, its light, airy and doesn't feel like its part of a supermarket

I took my daughter here for lunch before we needed to get a few things from the supermarket. We both had a toasted sandwich and they were good. It was good value for money.

We went to the Sainsburys cafe for a morning breakfast and coffee expecting it to be a quick and simple experience. Once we had ordered food we were then told they were not serving coffee which to me is unnaceptable for a café. Having already ordered food we decided to stay. They had not signed that they had no coffee and didn't seem to be doing anything about it. As part of a large supermarket you would have thought somebody would have had the thought to get some preground coffee to be able to serve their customers. Service was terrible and we had to remind them of out eventual drinks order several times. Behind the bar was filthy and a damp cloth seemed to be being used to just make the area even less clean. When food arrived, which took longer than it should, the eggs were borderline cooked and the hash browns burnt. Overall I was very disappointed with my experience and the Sainsburys café and will go out of my way to avoid going back. I thoroughly recommend that you do the same, at least at this particular Sainsburys. Date of visit: 5th December.

Went for a coffee in Sainsbury's today, waited for someone to serve me. Mean while people behind me was trying to push in front of me as I was waiting for my coffees the girl making them made the people behind me their drinks before mine. Not happy!

I treated my daughter and grandson to lunch. I was a bit nervous, as the strong oily smell at my local Sainsbury's store puts me off going into that one, (and the fact, it's minutes walk from home...) However, this one didn't seem smelly. The staff were very helpful, helping with trays, as my daughter was 8 months pergnant, and I was in charge of the 3 year old and the shopping...The food is simple, but well cooked... the main asset being the staff who are friendly, helpful and diligent. Old crocks were swiftly moved, tales cleaned.

Normally I am not keen on supermarket cafes budget foods but at this Sainsbury's cafe the food was great

Usual good choice of foodstuffs but the Indian complete meals were excellent. Called back when passing on a separate occasion to pick up a second meal.

Ok I guess, standard fare for a supermarket but ridiculous that you can't simply swap one item for another where children are concerned. Made me pay extra yet still removed the unwanted item. Quite stingy to be fair

Was on our way to london so we popped in to grab some shopping and breakfast ....we waited for about five minutes and still hadn't been seen the que was massive and there was only one person working making the coffees, sadly we didn't wait around as we had too much do and the que wasn't moving. On a good note the cafe was very clean

There is another Sainsburys in Exeter with a restaurant which I have not been to, but this one is on the west of Exeter where you come off of the A30 and all the car dealerships are located. Also it does not come up on TP that easily.

Saw their sign for Fish and Chips whilst shopping so gave it a try Absolutely perfect and tremendous value at well under £5 My server was helpful, friendly and professional Will be back soon

Brilliant value for sorting the kids tea out after shopping. My daughter absolutely adored the pasta. Not the cleanest of places but expectations aren't Michelin starred when it's a supermarket. Staff were lovely too.

this is a fab place for a quick bite to eat. i often come here for my dinner after work and the staff are always very polite and professional. the food always comes out piping hot and very yummy

Stopped for a coffee but the smell of fresh bacon meant we all stayed for full English Breakfast which was excellent.

Clean if small cafeteria but some decent cold foods-sandwiches, pastries. prices were about "medium" so a satisfactory experience

After shopping we stopped at the Sainsburys Café for a light bite and coffee Great service, good choice of menu and sensible prices Makes shopping more pleasurable!

food always good, but if really busy you will wait a while for your food, great value meals though for adults and kids

This is a supermarket so it is pretty standard in what it stocks. I went in for the basics and the shelves were well stocked and the dates on the items were good. I did stop in the cafe and the food was good and it was excellent value too!.

Saturday 9th January finished shopping in Sainsburys, Pinhoe Road, and decided to visit the cafe for a late lunch as it was about 2.45.
