Costa Coffee in Exeter

Small costa. Not clean and felt untidy inside.

The slowest service I have seen in a Costa for some time. Staff seem oblivious to the queue extending our the door. Little activity behind the counter, just lots of people moving things around but not really making an coffee!

I payed too much for too little. My cup is already empty 🙁

Excellent location, few meters from the famous cathedral. The coffee is good, the staff is nice. Prices are standard. The place is very busy and you may wait longer to be served. Outside seating was available in 2024.

The staff here are great, we were served by Eira who was really helpful and polite.

10/07/24 - 12:40pm Me and two of my friends were in Exeter celebrating one of my friends birthday's - so we decided to go to this establishment to redeem his free cake. When we entered we waited far too long, making us miss a reservation. Eventually, when we finally reached the till - we were met with shocking service and a worker who could not care less - the app was going through some technical issues so my friend could not access his free cake voucher, even after proving his age with his ID, she still denied his free cake. She did not care or try to suggest an alternative solution. Costa claims to value their customers - but me and my friends have not experienced this. Make a change Costa!!

Handy to go for coffee and snacks it's Very nice place

Excellent baristas, who are a very big reason why we return often. They remember who you are and never fail to warmly greet you!!

Firstly, the staff were friendly and welcoming, so that was good, 5 stars to them. But the coffee is awful... not a one -off experience, all the recent coffees I've had at various Costas have been poor. I don't know what's happened to it, it used to be that Costa served decent middle of the road coffee at reasonable prices, now it's awful and super expensive. Their Costa Express machines actually serve better coffee. When compared to independents locally like Tiny Tasting Room in Exeter, Brazier in Wellington, Duck and Bean in Tiverton, and others, you really notice the difference.

They had shut the downstairs seating area, it was quite busy and loads tried to go down even though it had been blocked off... So I guess it was not the staffs fault if that what they were told to do..

Great place meet up with my mates and family quite often, very friendly staff great atmosphere.

My go-to place for coffee when I visit the city centre. The staff is polite and cheerful, delivering great service. It gets busy during peak times, but that's to be expected.

Tables needed clearing and cleaning not very clean

Absolutely terrible. Dirty toilets, slow customer service, I was served the wrong coffee, and it was one of the worst I've ever tasted. This is below acceptable for a global chain - I won't be using Costa again.

Cakes aren't as nice as they used to be and only 1 of the 3 toilets was working

In the past I've enjoyed going to this Costa but today will be the last. Two of the two toilets downstairs have been closed for over a month so you have to use the disabled toilet. Today, ordered two coffees but could only have takeaway cups as the dishwasher had broken down! The server was really sweet, however the place itself was disgusting inside and out, tables and chairs dirty. There was enough staff as two were having a chat on the side by the kitchen.

Just had a drink, but it was a great place to sit outside on a sunny day. Staff were very pleasant.

Shocking disability and less able bodied access policy!!! When I asked to speak to a manager I was ignored and told complaints could only be made by email! Not every body can email and was told tough!!!! She then stopped speaking to me to serve another customer

Morning visit, place dirty, had dirty cup for pot of tea which had to exchanged for a clean one and generally felt dirty. Flies and cobwebs on window cill

Overall this is a standard Costa, good location. But had quite a disappointing experience recently, went in about an hour before closing time and they had already started packing away everything, most of the food was not on display anymore so couldn’t really see what was available and what wasn’t, so it didn’t feel very inviting and welcoming as it felt we were coming in when it was about to close (but there was still one hour to go!). The inside was also not overly clean.

Having pigeons eating off the floor shows how clean it is !!! Service poor , had to wait while staff member emptied bin bags !!! Won't be going back there again

It's a very small Costa so it always feels a bit crowded. There is a downstairs area, but I experience claustrophobia, so I can't enjoy my coffee down there. The staff don't have the laid-back air that I enjoy in most Costas. I still like it, though It has a kind of local vibe.

The staff were not so friendly and inviting, they seemed to almost be annoyed as I placed my order with them. When you pay so much for a coffee and a cake, the service must be better.

I find Costa the best for a cappuccino in the big names on the high Street. This branch has good friendly staff and its a nice location to do people watching..keep up the good work 👏

Fairly mediocre coffee. Not worth the price. Service was very busy perhaps that took a toll on quality.

Super slow, forgot 3 different people’s orders and there are flies all over the ceiling!!

Great stop for a perfect pick-me-up when your are busy or even just a chill place to rest, catch your breath and take your time with your brew :)

I stop by this Costa on most of my trips into exeter city centre whilst shopping or running errands and never usually have any issues at all, the staff are always very quick and friendly, always look to be working very hard and making great coffee. Unfortunately on this particular visit I noticed there were flies covering most of the ceiling and walls. I decided there and then I will most likely never return, which is a shame because like I said the staff are great, in fact noticeably better than the other Costa coffee on the high street, but seeing these flies everywhere is enough to put anyone off their food / drink. Again this is not a complaint about the product or the service at all, purely on the fly infestation that seems to be taking over the cafe. This is a real shame and needs to be addressed.

Some of the staff could be a bit more polite. Paying for some of the most expensive coffee in Exeter. They do pay UK tax though unlike Starbucks. And I love the loyalty card!

Standard Costa, overpriced and you pay for the name but always busy. Toilets always need attention.

Whenever I've had coffee at Costa it always tastes burnt and this visit was no exception. I don't know what it is exactly but it's not a nice taste. Apart from that the service was excellent and the atmosphere too.

As usual we just popped in for a Quick Coffee ☕☕. Which as always is very nice. The service was top notch one of the Young Ladies really helped me with my coffee sorry I can't put her name down I'm sorry to say.👍👍😁😁

This place needs closing down and given a deep clean !!!!!!! 7 people Queueing for the one toilet, 2nd toilet been out of order for over a year apparently!!!! Costa charge enough surely they can aford to repair the toilet, and employ a cleaner!!!!!!

No China cups again! Shortage of staff they say, charged full price to drink out of takeaway cups, and the price is ridiculous, it would be differant if it was premium coffee in a premium environment with premium cups. They have got it so wrong..

Really good, friendly staff. A late visit about half hour before closing but we weren't rushed or made to feel unwelcome at all. Facilities were all clean & well presented. If I wasn't just in the area on holiday, I would definitely be a regular here.

Saturday afternoon 3rd September we visited this branch of Costa in Princesshay in Exeter. We ordered two flat whites, £3.15 each, which were promptly prepared. We sat at table in the window and watched the world pass by as we enjoyed our coffees. At street level there is not a lot of seating however, there is additional seating downstairs. Good coffee, efficient friendly service, so all good.

Really like the lattés from Costa. It's a pity the interior is very basic which I don't find inviting.

I am a regular at other Costa's, the service over the festival weekend at one of the cafe's in Exeter was busy and done well

Good seating options outside and inside upstairs and downstairs.

Did not look to busy, so we decided to get a table. The table was vacant when we entered but had not been cleared . The table remained full of the previous users debris as I tried to catch the attention of one of the staff. Our order arrived three adult meals and drinks and still an un cleared table and more tables around us. I had to go up to the serving desk and ask for someone to clear our table this they did but then failed to wash/disinfect the mess from previous users. I again went to the manager I think and asked them to wash the table as it was covered in coffee and spilt milk shake. It was like pulling teeth I won't say I will not use the Costa again as its so convenient for a quick lunch. But they really need to look after customers that just arrived and not the ones that just left them a great mess.

Costa was at the airport so I dined in . Was good quality and value .

The food was lovely (then again, I had an M&S supersalad and an M&S Yamnut) and so was the frappè (I had a small one which was well big enough), but the venue was very noisy and the tables arranged rather randomly (my table was also rather worn). The staff were fine.

this time I went in had new staff didn't know how to make the porridge they just pour water into the pot and just gave to like that I couldn't eat I've been a very good supporter of Costa but this was my worst experience

Standard Costa outlet in a very accessible pedestrianised area, indoor and outdoor seating, usual products and very clean. Guide dogs only. Pleasant staff.

Very nice place for a quick cuppa. We went in around lunch time and it was queued out the door, however it didn't seem to phase the staff. They were working like a well oiled machine, nobody was waiting for long. We only had drinks, but we were served quickly with very hot drinks, what more could you wish for. I would definately recommend a visit.

It's a Costa innit. Usual fair. Staff were friendly.

Its great cafe and it has outdoor seating. The ground floor can be squashed when busy but there has more spaces in basement. It can be tricky for buggy or wheelchairs trying to squeeze through! Staff are superb and would be happy to bring your orders over if needed. It has the wheelchair access loo on ground floor but more toilets in the basement so get down there instead of queuing up!

I visited this store whilst staying with family in Exeter it was't as clean and tiday as my store in Folkestone Kent and the staf weren't as friendly either.

Yummy!! Went there for a coffee break from shopping with my 8 year old and she got a golden huge chocolate coin and I had a cheeky Quality Street chocolate

This branch of Costa is large and well-run.

This is my favourite Costa in Exeter as the people serving are great, my Flat White is always infused with a healthy dose of sarcasm and humour, just what i need before i start my working day, i also recommend the Torte' pronounced TorTay because I'm posh.

Love Costa I wouldn't go anywhere else.
