No plates, no cups, no butter for a croissant, no atmosphere, very little to recommend it. Costas and Coffee#1 are close, as is Chandos, Undergraduate, Arietty, John Lewis, Owl and Pussycat, Waterstones, etc. I think people just come to sit at the tables with laptops.

I go to prett at least three times a week the staff have no conversation push the coffee towards you very rarely a please or thank you the manager does not make eye contact whilst serving he never speaks always looks like he does not want to be there I have had enough off this place only thing that is good is the location I am off

We said we wouldn’t go back but we did. Never again. The drinks are practically thrown at you. The food is average. What a shame, what has happened Pret? Full of students downstairs not eating or drinking just on their laptops surrounded by dirty tables. We were appalled as were the people on the table next to us. You need to shut this place down, deep clean it and refurbish. Then think about getting it back on track to how it used to be i.e. clean, good customer service, great food and drink. You have let this place get run down in every way possible.

Only wanted a coffee ended up with a sandwich as well.

I purchased a drink in a reusable cup and was having lunch with my friend in the downstairs seating area. Manager (possibly) comes over and shouts at us to leave because we are eating (!?) he was incredibly blunt and rude. due to dietary restrictions my friend is unable to eat certain foods so they got food elsewhere and we wanted to chat over lunch. As a paying customer I assumed we were allowed to sit in and eat, seeing as I had paid the more expensive price to eat in rather than takeaway. Incredibly disappointing and rather rude, I shan’t be recommending this Pret anytime soon. The seating area is nice and the food and drink was good. I understand possibly not wanting customers to consume other products but there is a nicer way to communicate this to them. I’m sorry that we weren’t good enough for your establishment.

I love the breakfast bacon / egg / avocado french bread sticks at Pret. But a bit pricey to eat in?

Laptops should more or less be banned from this place.

Pret obviously don't give a cr** about the environment. Awash with single use plastics, what the hell is wrong with them. Do they not have any crockery? too lazy to wash up? too tight to pay for more staff to clear a table? Won't be coming again. Awful!!!! Should be ashamed of themselves.

Absolutely dreadful experience in here today. In the middle of a busy afternoon shopping we just wanted a quick sit down and a cup of tea. We queued for a good 20 mins to place the order for 2 cups of tea then another 15 for them to make the teas. They seemed to be preparing teas and coffees quite randomly and we saw them pouring several away because when they shouted, people were just not coming forward or apparently the order was wrong. I really needed a 5 minute sit down, having had recent hip surgery. Both upstairs and downstairs was full up with students on their laptops with empty coffee cups beside them. Every time I spotted a table that appeared empty, it turned out it had a laptop or books on it where a student had left it while they went to the toilet or maybe for another coffee. What a shambles. Nowhere at all to sit. Waiting for ages. Why not have a separate Internet cafe area for students and keep the rest available for shopper customers who need to stop, eat, drink and move on? We ended up standing between tables while we hurriedly drank our tea and all around us kids on laptops wearing headsets, oblivious to the world around them. If we had known the situation before we came in we wouldn't have bothered. Please decide what image you want yo portray. The level of service and the whole atmosphere was one of the worst I have experienced. I will not buy food or drinks in one of your establishments again.

Ordering drinks no problem, but no tables and Manager extremely rude. Told us we should have looked before ordering! Didn’t help when the downstairs area was closed off. Fortunately table became free but won’t be visiting again. Didn’t help that lots of tables taken by students on laptops with no food or drink. Won’t visit again.

Thank you Marcus for the best coffee I had for a long time! Perfectly steamed oat milk, which is rarely the case. Nice & quick service and friendly atmosphere. There is nothing better for a good start of the day 😊🙌🏻

Disappointed that when I chose to sit in, my food and drink was served in takeaway packaging. I paid £5.50 for the toastie alone, only for it to be given to me in a paper bag, without any utensils. Personally, I didn't enjoy the food or the experience of sitting in as much because of this.

Rude stuff The fat lady she have horrible character

You pay extra to sit in despite still having a takeaway cup and no plate and no service. Tables are often dirty as customers clear their own tables but tables aren't wiped. Batistas are rude and blunt to customers waiting for drinks. Probably alright for a quick coffee on the go but not if you want to sit in for a nice coffee and chat with a friend. Prices are similar to independents but with an independent you get fat better service and a nicer atmosphere. Food is tasty but not worth the price and the coffee is mediocre

Two of us enjoyed egg and cress sandwiches with a mug of Earl Grey. Sat in the downstairs seating area. I had not seen my friend for over a year so we ate and talked and talked! Relaxed atmosphere for over an hour! I had never been to a Pret a Manger before, and will never be able to say that again!!

Ordered a gingerbread latte which in itself was £3.70 and they only filled the cup up half way. Admittedly I had cream on top, but still for the price this is not good value and will not be returning.

Gone down hill. Poor atmosphere in here with very overpriced mediocre coffee. What happened to the fresh Pret with good coffee and a nice smile or welcome when you walk in? Now many of the staff (especially the manager, larger lady often in black) seem to really dislike working there. I see no reason to visit anymore, and instead go next door or to any number of other better quality and better value cafes in the area. A shame as it used to be a really positive experience.

I went there to buy a chai latte. The service was quick and great. The amount of money for the drink seems a bit of an exaggeration, to be honest. I haven't tried food yet, so I prefer not to make any opinions about it yet.

Some staff are rude, and unpleasant. They often don’t have drinks available, they close downstairs at 3. The toilets are always out of order. They no longer serve any kind of milkshake. They don’t sell decaf tea. They don’t clean the tables. The fabric on the chairs is all ripped. Don’t bother going here!

Ordered and paid for toasted sandwiches and coffee and tea only to find the sandwiches are returned to you in the paper bag they were stored in the display fridge and paper cups for the drinks. Very little milk. I question why we were asked if taking away or eating in. As far as I could make out tables we’re not cleaned either. Would not recommend and will not be visiting again.

I love Prêt and have done for years, so was really disappointed with how my friend and I were treated by some of the staff here. We’ve grabbed takeaway drinks a few times from here and service has been fine. However, whenever we’ve popped in to collect a bag from Too Good To Go, we’ve been glared at, told off for sitting at the tables (despite also ordering drinks) and noticed the staff whispering and staring at us. Can’t say I actively enjoy giving my money to a place that makes me feel so potently unwelcome. If you don’t mind the extra trip, the Prêt at Exeter’s M5 services is vastly superior in terms of service, food quality and atmosphere.

Very rude staff specially white plus size lady who is in the shop floor. This is not the first time. She came across very racist and rude, it's happened with many of my friends too. I can't believe there is staff like this working in a public area with people in this way. I'm very disappointed and not happy, prefer to avoid this place, if you get treated like this.

Drinks were OK, as to be expected but customer service was shocking. The woman on the till couldn't even bring herself to smile and came across quite rude. Made us feel unwelcome and unwanted on what was a quiet day, when our custom was needed.

Absolutely perfect for my wife and I. We bought a lovely early evening meal to take back to our hotel. Hotel Indigo. We aren't one's for "dining out" so tend to eat at places like Pret A Manger or Marks and Spencer prepped salads and fruit kind of thing. My food was a Posh cheese roll ? which was really nice Pret were superb and their service was warm and friendly. Very nice coffee

This manager ruined this store. Every time my friend and I went into the store to order coffee, she looked at me fiercely like I owed her money, very rude, and I have never heard she said hello or thank you even one time!

Toastie was served in a takeaway bag with wooden utensils, coffee was in a takeaway cup even though we were eating in, no choice for plates or proper cups...cost nearly 20 quid...rip off Won't go there again...

Superb service, products and cleanliness. This is one of the best restaurants of this kind that there is. Lovely baguette and coffee. Everything was so nice we skipped several other places to go back here for a late lunch. Thanks for being there. Can you please come to Plymouth?

I visited this shop at 17:05 - 29/11/22 Being addicted to Pret I take every opportunity to buy from a Pret. I’ve been to many throughout the country. The staff are normally good. However today is the first time I have come across a Manager so rude and ignorant. I’m guessing Pret are desperate to fill this manager roll. He’s front line customer care that’s acting like a customer who’s just found a bone in his sandwich. Pret needs to put this manager through some training

A young gentleman rolled his yes and made grimaces at me when I ask him why did they only do one shot of coffee in the Americano when I paid £2.80 for a coffee and had to pay another extra for 1 shot when I should have had 2 shots as a normal Americano comes with? he replied rolling his yes and looking at me as if I was from another planet , that’s what we do here if you have got a problem take it up with head office! I did say to him how rude he was and he started to argue with me and very aggressive asked me what did you say? Did you called me cheeky? I said no you are being very rude! Can you train your young staff to be more polite as I am old enough to be his mother!

Ordered a caramel frappé and was then told they had run out so offered an alternative. I genuinely thought I was being sent back to the till for a refund and being offered a free replacement choice, and pastries, to apologise. I turned down the end of day pastries as the shop was about to close. Took my take away drink, checked my account to see if been charged for the replacent drink!! So I’d been over charged for a drink Prêt couldn’t provide! Poor service, staff who have no idea of customer care and over charging! I really would avoid this place.

Left waiting for ages for coffees because the staff put something on top of the order - after 4 subsequent customers had been served I asked if they had lost my order… Coffees arrived 2 more orders later with no explanation or apology.

The Pret subscription for £25 a month is one of the best deals around: up to 5 drinks a day so long as they are 30 minutes apart. In my first two weeks of using it I have already managed to get around £130 worth of drinks. Their smoothies especially are very nice. Although at times there can be a queue for the most part very quick to get drinks. Overall I'd recommend it for anyone able to get to pret often during the day, and wants cheap drinks!!

I have walked into pret exeter store , I ordered an chai latte looking and pointing at the board , lady made me a hot chai late , I the explained how I don’t drink hot drinks and I pointed at the cold , she started arguing with me and saying how I should of told her , even tho I pointed and she didn’t ask me if I wanted it hot or not in the first place which she should . if she was not sure ? Anyway I have explained how I would like this to be changed as my money will go to waste and I don’t drink hot drinks , she had a awful attitude towards me , laughing at my face and making sure she was right. her manager named Thomas came along , so I explained to him the situation expecting a resolution. Instead of him being kind and appreciating their customer , Customer is always right ! instead he also gave me horrible attitude , gave me terrible treatment and agreed with her even tho he was not there to confirm what I said . Terrible experience.

The baristas themselves are really nice, but the woman who I believe is the manager is quite possibly the rudest person I have encountered in customer service. I am a subscription holder who visits this pret almost daily and each time I am shocked by her attitude, many friends also agree, she makes for a negative experience everytime without fail. A smile costs nothing.

Bad idea. If you like coffee, go somewhere else. Its not awful it just isn't good. They need to train their staff to make drinks properly.

I always liked Pret as a twenty-something and I like to come here when in town as it reminds me of my days as a student in London. They still do the nice coffee and fresh food but in the packaging they’ve really gone backwards - I’m sure there used to be real coffee cups?! Pret needs a major rethink of its packaging policy and business mod to reflect the urgency of the environmental situation. If you’re truly making the stuff in the kitchen then why on Earth can’t it just simply be… put on a plate and then washed up? Why should I have to bring my own cup if I want to eat in and not create plastic waste? The staff and food here are nice. I really, really hate the toilets though. The embarrassment of bringing my grandmother downstairs and then explaining why she had to go to the toilet in the men’s… not good (they are unisex but with shared handbasins so it looks like you are going to the men’s if men are queuing). If you want unisex loos then make them bigger and put the hand-basins inside them. I remember one time being on the loo hearing a man commenting to his mate so close to me how much they prefer unisex loos as they are cleaner. Well they are not cleaner than the ladies, unisex toilets are always more dirty in my experience… my one had wee on the floor and it was definitely men’s as I could smell it. I hated going to the loo so close to where these guys were waiting and chatting in what felt like my physical space (the toilets are small but admittedly floor to ceiling cubicles) and I definitely visit less often as a result.

Nice food, however there was no seating as students pay for a coffee in the morning and sit there all day doing work on their laptops despite the sign stating 1 hour only. Staff seem oblivious

Having enjoyed lunch and coffees with a group of friends, rather glad I didn't visit the facilities before hand otherwise I would have left. Whilst I appreciate Pret aren't responsible for their customers behaviours, rather evident that the checks aren't being completed. Food and coffee excellent as always but think from now on I will associate with the state of the loos !

Land of the computer zombies. Downstairs felt like a crypt Students hogging entire tables cluttered with their computers and bags. Gazing vacantly into screens. Making a single coffee last an age. Regular punters spending money with trays of food trying to find a space. Maybe get some sulky youth to budge up. Sorry Pret your going to go bust. Shut off the internet.

always loved the service, drinks and food in Pret. However, recently it has gone downhill. You can only sit for one hour and not drink things from other stores, even if it is some water or juice ! the staff can say in a particular manner if they wish to enforce new rules, instead they make people feel embarrassed. costa is calling my name !!!

I am heavily disappointed with the staff at this pret, in particular, a bald condescending man (might be a manager) who just comes downstairs from time to time to check eagerly for people eating their own food, and drinking their own tap water. He is quite an rude individual.

Visited 19/02/2022 for lunch and bought my partner a wrap from the store - personally I didn’t want to eat one of their products so I bought a pasty from another location. We sat down and began eating and a male staff member came out...

The first time I've ever been to Pret A Manger and was very happy with what I had. Mushroom risotto soup, it was amazing. I think the service should be better though.

We met some family members here today { Remembrance Sunday} one of whom was an ex - service man. As the music was playing fairly loudly and the time was approaching 11am { two minute silence} I asked the two baristas who was serving me if they were going to turn the music down for a moment as a mark of respect. Their reaction appeared dismissive and indignant and told me flat out " We did that Thursday, we are not doing it again today". I then spoke to the manager with the same request and she replied the same. I am shocked and disappointed at the lack of basic manners and respect for our fallen soldiers. Shame on them P.s. I have had to give a single star to post this review which they do not deserve - Amanda Constable.

Pleasant enough, but quite busy/crowded. If you go to or go past a pretty regularly then their monthly coffee subscription can be a great value if you drink lots of coffee.

This used to be such a great little store, reliable and well run. I've recently been ordering our staff lunches online using deliveroo. I've had to ring Pret Exeter 3 times this week, as the soup wasn't available to order, (they had soup in store, but it hadn't uploaded apparently). Spoke to some bloke (at 11.55) who said it was because they were changing from breakfast to lunch (the day before it had been 1.30pm, so I don't think so mate. Today I ordered my lunch at home, wrong baguette sent, (seriously how difficult is it to pick a bloody sandwich from the shelf). I rang and spoke to the 'Manager', Terry (he was so unprofessional, he refused to give me his full name or any contact email for himself). He flatly refused to help, and told me to ring Deliveroo to sort (it was your mistake not Deliveroo's, own it and deal with it Terry). Thankfully I do finally get the right order, thanks to Deliveroo, but this Pret is seriously going downhill, and it is such a shame.

If being surrounded by students on their MacBooks drinking iced coffee is your thing then this place is for you.

Love the food here, but I swear every other order via a delivery service is either missing an item or just has a completely different product altogether thrown in. Really odd. Whoever is picking for deliveries for breakfast/lunch needs to pay more attention.

On 04/08/21 at 08.15 I ordered a filter coffee normally 99p to be told it was now £1.25 no explanation for the price increase was given, all the hot drink prices have increased. On 05/08/21 at 08.15 I arrived to find the store closed and a notice stating opening times were now from 09.00 I went to Costa where the filter coffee is cheaper and they are open to serve the people who are on their way to work. I know Prett have recently closed many stores and the price increase and late opening times will only unfortunately see more stores close.

The WORST MANAGER EVER. I’ve bought a drink from Pret and my own sandwich from home. They didn’t allowed me to eat my sandwich and only allowed me to drink their drink. He was STARING at me as if I am holding a BOMB. He didn’t allowed me to take a bite from my sandwich. I would leave ZERO STARS if I could. VERY POOR MANAGEMENT. RUDE MANAGER. I would suggest to Pret to CHANGE this manager as SOON as possible!
