Called in for lunch after walking from Mylor to Flushing. Lovely food, great service and friendly staff. When we’re back in Cornwall we’ll definitely visit again.

Large family lunch for 12. Total £380. Drinks menu and bar staff - excellent Restaurant staff - excellent Oysters - 12 excellent but came with sauces already on rather than being allowed to add ourselves, ie No forks, lemon in muslin, shallots, vinegar or Tabasco available to add as required (the basics when ordering oysters at £4 each imho). Main menu - small but just about doable for 8 adults and four teenagers. However - food took ages. Turned up cold, small portions, with some items burned. A £28 steak without sides?!?! Extra fries ordered and then comped after arriving late, cold and smaller than a portion of McD’s fries. Burgers tasty, but kids portions by the look of it. Ragu pasta bland and grey. Steak tartare small and uninteresting. Ironically, the last dish to arrive despite being the only one that doesn’t need to be cooked. For context - No wine, desserts or coffee ordered. We normally would have! In summary: PROS - Lovely place. Beautiful location. Great beers. Nice interior. Friendly and understanding staff. CONS - Food! It says Michelin on their website, but the only alignment with that badge of honour are the small portions for overinflated prices. We heard great things about this place, which is why we booked, but as many others have commented, the kitchen staff may have changed and their previously high standards must have dropped to reflect that. Suggestion - Change your chef/s or get someone in to help because he/she/they are clearly under-skilled or overworked. Had high hopes but were dashed after seeing nearly £400 go on what should really have been valued at around £20-25 per head.

Visited the second time, very disappointed. The burger was tiny, the ham was rock hard and the sole was tasteless. The cost was £140 and not worth it.

I have dined here three times, and while the first experiences were excellent, my latest visit was disappointing. It seems the original chef has moved on, as the food quality has noticeably declined. We waited over an hour for our food, which, when it arrived, was underwhelming. The duck ragu, for example, had little to no duck and felt like a stingy portion, leaving us questioning the value for money. Unfortunately, the overall quality did not justify the high prices. The service was slow and inexperienced—perhaps holiday cover? That said, the drinks menu remains a highlight, and the location is excellent. I genuinely want to support local businesses, so I hope the restaurant can address these issues to recapture its former standard.

A great find in busy Perranporth. Really nice food offering at very decent prices. Great service as well. Definitely a place to go

We visited this pub twice during our short visit as the food was so good and very reasonably priced. On our first visit we had the freshly caught cod and chips which really did look like a whale on a plate. Would highly recommend this place and the staff were really helpful and friendly.
