Good food and very good prices no idea why more people don’t visit this place as Haskins down the road is always heaving. Perhaps offers for 2 drinks for one would be an incentive to get people in.

Just popped in to pick up 1 item might not have noticed if I had bought several items but was overcharged at the till even though I proved that the wrong figure had been put on the system. Not worth making an issue as they had no intention of correcting the error, generally expensive anyway, without being overcharged and very reduced selection to choose from, will not be going again.

Two breakfast this morning and I can only repeat the previous write up, the size is ok but out of 7 items including toast that it comes with 4 were slightly warm or cold. The bacon was cold, the fried egg was rock hard, beans just luke warm also the toast the same, now we were the first in there so there should be no excuse. Never again, also like I said the first in there and yet there were crumbs on the table and chairs, and we are in a pandemic so thought they would have been spot on considering they greet you to go in the restaurant

Went in the cafe today and absolutely gobsmacked by the staff and food!It felt like we were an invonvenience to the staff, who were in an empty cafe and under no pressure. Manners cost nothing! I decided to go for the traditional breakfast....big mistake! £7.50 and as you can see by the photo, it was pretty damn awful. A thimble of beans, a cold tomato, dry bacon, 2 small sausages and the egg was rubbery. Wont be going back!

Was passing by and wanted some lunch, it’s 12.30 and there is no one here, there are more staff then customers, no hot food ready to go so I ordered a jacket potato with chilli I was thinking it was going to be the safest bet, was I wrong, look it doesn’t even come with butter, there’s not even salad dressing, and the chilli was so bad that the beans in it where hard as a rock, it’s such a joke went to another garden shop and it was so busy. Stay away from this place

Chose the cheese and ham omelette for lunch in the cafe, with a side order of chips. Was served with watercress and a halved cooked tomato, a nice lot of cheese spilling out from the omelette. You can help yourself to condiments. Sandwiches and jacket potatoes are also available at lunchtime and there is a specials board. The garden centre doesn’t just sell plants, there are other outlets as well. Worth a look round and calling at the cafe for refreshments.

Made a family visit to the Owermoigne Wyvale (soon to be taken over in June) Garden centre. The trip was specifically for my elderly mum to visit Edinburgh wool shop within the building, grab a cooked lunch and the purchase of aquatic pond plants for myself.Borrowed a wheelchair from the centre for ease of movement for elderly mum, the majority of areas can easily be negotiated with a wheelchair, surfaces being flat, only exceptions being the outside plant area and the main exit area which slopes alarmingly-catching several people out while pushing their purchases on trollies to the car park area.Staff in the Edinburgh wool shop were exceptionally helpful, locating stock and making alternative suggestions.Similarly the staff at the aquatic centre were very helpful with information and made good suggestions to aid the purchase of unfamiliar plants, all fish looked in good condition and healthy, we will purchase koi from here in the near future. On arrival to the large site we decided to take a coffee and plan which areas to look at before returning to the cafe for lunch, first problem there was no hot coffee variants available to buy, the fact a printed apologetic notice displayed the information suggested it hadn’t just happened on the Easter Monday, quick look at chilled cans at £1.85 EACH seemed more than extravagant, opted for a pot of tea which was hot and had flavour.Wait at the counter seemed exceptionally long, considering there appeared to be sufficient bustling staff, tables were slow to be cleared.Visited other areas before returning for lunch, beer battered cod, hunters chicken with veg and a bowl of chips, still no coffee available-maybe waiting for spares from China?Meal quality almost made up for the cold drink prices -we never bought any of those! along with the sloowwww sevuce at the counter.Returned on Thursday afternoon to purchase a few more pond plants, thought we’ll try the coffee, -still no hot coffee options same apologetic notice, there were two customers in front of us so thought we’d go for a pot of tea, two staff appeared from the back area looked and went off again not bothering to serve anyone, waited patiently, same again brief appearance then scurried off again. Decided to walk off and leave our empty tray in disgust. While walking around the garden centre overhead another couple saying to another couple to ‘not bother queuing at the cafe after 1500 as no-one bothers serving’, -is that for real?On the whole could be very good, but cafe service and cold drinks unacceptable

Actual garden centre is good, staff are really friendly but let down by the food. 4 simple toasted sandwiches and a kids chicken nugget meal, ordering was fine but as they brought out the food 2 of the sandwiches were wrong. It was the attitude from 2 staff members that kind of implied ‘we served the food how you ordered it’ but the receipt clearly shows what we ordered. Anyway they brought the food out again and still got one wrong.Chicken nuggets however covered in gristle. Not the sort of thing I want to serve my 2 year old. They said they would let their supplier know but probably just a fob off. Won’t be eating there again

We have been visiting for years and since it became Wyvales the cafeteria has declined progressively. No more mince slices in the cake selection or homemade meat pie. We dropped in for lunch and chose the steak pie and vegetables. The food looked good and tasted nice, but the pie had been microwaved and was soggy. When mentioned, we were told the pies are oven cooked and not microwaved, well the pastry was like soggy newspaper, unless a couple were kept warm continuously they were delivered too quickly to be oven cooked and they were like rubber. We were offered a refund or replacement but after we had eaten them it was a bit late. Such a disappointment. For the same price a Toby Carvery or Harvester would have been much better.

The great feature of this garden centre is the extremely helpful nature of the staff. It’s great wandering around but their willingness to help is first class. There’s an excellent choice of most garden requisites and unlike some centres it doesn’t feel like a shopping centre. It’s still very much a garden centre. There’s a nice little cafe.

Do love a afternoon tea and they offered a booklet of vouchers so for £12 we had afternoon tea,it was very busy so had quite a queue and the one thing I did notice was that they didn't ask if we had any dietary requirements and didn't tell us we could have free refills on our tea and coffee. So we took our seat and it did arrive quickly, there were only two choices of sandwiches, ham and tomatoe and cheese and cucumber. My friend doesn't like cucumber so picked it off, because I had been here before I knew we had free refills on tea and coffee the only problem being the queue was so big it took another 15 minutes to get another drink,I think when you have afternoon a member of staff should come to your table and ask if you would like a refill.

My wife and I popped in recently for a snack. We ordered a cheese & tomato toasty plus a smoked salmon & cream cheese sandwich with a pot of tea for two. The food was freshly prepared and was very enjoyable. The air conditioned cafe area was particularly welcome as it was quite muggy outside. Prices, we felt, were normal levels with our bill coming to £15.75 There were plenty of tables and chairs as well as some tub chairs which are a little more comfortable to relax in. The cafe was clean and tidy and there are toilets nearby. The garden centre itself is part of the massive Wyevale chain which seems to be hoovering up all the independent garden centres, but you can't fault the quality of the facility or the products that are available. No doubt you can get individual items cheaper if you shopped around but you would lose out on an enjoyable retail experience.

When we arrived the cafe seating was only a third full, we took our order number and sat down and waited, and waited and waited. So we asked where our food was (it was forgotten about) then we waited, some of our order arrived, then waited and waited. We asked where the rest of the order was and it finally arrived. Low and behold, they got the order wrong! I won’t be coming back here for food.

The new gammon, egg and chips is a little disappointing as the gammon is rather tough. If you are in the garden centre and need a break then the cafe is ideal for coffee, tea and cakes but the main meals are not really up to scratch. The garden centre is itself worth visiting as there are often bargains here and the prices seem competitive.

The restaurant was very busy, and there wasn’t enough staff to cope - again! There was a massive queue to pay and order teas and coffees, and people waiting to pay for roasts that were sat on their trays getting cold! There was another till, but that remained closed! Orders were being taken and the food was then prepared. There were a long line of prepared food waiting to be taken to customers, with no one to take them -hence the food was getting cold! People were complaining and asking for their money back. There were no clean knives and forks, tables were left uncleared. We could see our order had been left on the side for some time, until someone brought it to us. Luckily it was still hot. However, the two portions of fish and chips had no peas, although they were ordered. The member of staff went back to get some, and only came back with one small pot and expected them to be shared! There were only a handful of chips on the plate, so for £9.95 NOT good value! The salad served with my jacket potato was limp and unappetising. The previous time we visited this garden centre -several months ago, it wasn’t a great experience, and we complained to the mamanger, who was new. He promised to sort the issues out and do much better next time. He has clearly failed! The staff were rude, and we won’t be returning anytime soon.

My mother and friends visited @ 12.30 pm for Sunday lunch. They had to wait for a new tray of turkey which took 15 minutes, and when it arrived they were given just one slice of meat. There was neither cranberry nor bread sauce available. The vegetables were ok-ish with barely coloured roast potatoes. At £9.95 this was very poor value for money compared with other local establishments.

A few years ago this was a nice place to eat and shop, but lately the restaurant has gone downhill rapidly. The last few visits have been a bit of a joke, empty restaurant, but apparently not enough staff to even make a cheese and tomato toasted sandwich. Visited for lunch on a Saturday afternoon - warning bells should have rung as the restaurant was almost empty. More staff than customers and still had to wait 30 mins for two paninis and a toasted sandwich (am sure it would have been longer without the polite reminder). The tea was long finished before the food arrived - perhaps that was a ploy to get us to buy a second - no chance, awful dusty tea bags. The toasted sandwich I'm told was good but the chicken & chorizo panini wasn't - not nice chicken breast but processed chicken roll - still I suppose the teaspoon of coleslaw was ok. Poor value and a poor experience. Have not been here for quite a while, funny though, remember it being sooooo much better!

My wife and I visited the café/restaurant for breakfast recently. The establishment was clean and the staff friendly. The wait for our Full English Breakfast was not unreasonable. While the food was generally quite appetising, it was noted that the eggs were very runny; many would term them undercooked. Were we to repeat the experience, albeit I feel unlikely, well-cooked eggs would be specified. The garden centre itself is somewhat dated, but well-stocked.
