This cafe is brilliant. The choice/price/staff/service is great. We had the Jon Jon Special, £2.20 you can't complain. Raspberries, clotted cream, ice cream and sauce. It was delicious. The variations/combinations of ice cream is unbelievable. The prices are affordable. They also do baguettes, full breakfasts, burgers, chips, teas, coffee ls, soft drinks, etc etc etc. The staff are lovely. The toilet is clean. There's room to eat in or take away.

No pretensions, knock about cafe, beside West Hoe Park and a road’s width from the sea. Basic but good value British platefuls. Attracts some families and people taking in the sights around the Hoe etc but also locals, pensioners, groups of guys who come in before or during work or park their trucks or vans along the road. Raucous, often grubby, but good tempered, loud, and straightforward folk.

Really bad food but not as bad as the owners. Never been so abused in my life. The young girls who witnessed this were really scared and spoke up for me, bless them

The staff were rude and more interested in giggling between themselves than serving, came up for a long weekend and this spoilt our trip, over rated and overpriced

The ice creams are the best in plymouth and probably the cheapest, too! The staff and management are friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much for them. Next to the play Park at West Hoe. Go on down and see them. You'll be in for an ice cream treat.

Treated my kids to a breakfast and have to say it was the worst breakfast I have ever had. My eggs were over done and fried on old oil, my bacon was also over done and very hard. Everything was covered in grease. My daughter had scrambled eggs and said there were disgusting. I've waited ages for my coffee and it wasn't busy when we arrived. There was plenty of stuff working but they all looked lost to me. I won't be coming back here again. Waste of money

We never ate here before, but will definitely return. A last minute decision to eat out for breakfast landed us here and we were not disappointed. Very well priced, hot food and excellent customer service in a great setting make this a go to destination. Very highly recommended.

A little gem on the hoe. Tried the salads today for lunch -huge! Have visited in the past for coffee. The breakfast in the morning is tasty and the ice creams and waffles are again huge. Make sure you are hungry when you go there. Recommend the raspberries, ice & clotted cream

My friend and I have just bought a takeaway chicken salad which cost £7.95 and was absolutely horrendous. The potatoes were from a tin, the chicken was processed and the bread was soggy. It looked nothing like the picture which showed sliced marinated chicken. We had to throw most of it away.

Ordered a cheese burger from ocean city snacks and was asked to go sit down as they were busy and there were a few orders before mine and they would bring my food to me. I loitered just to the side of the counter on a bench and after about 20 minutes stood up and waited in view and the guy who served me asked me if I've been dealt with (I assumed he meant served) so I said yeah just waiting. Hands up I could have maybe double checked he definitely meant that but I thought why would I be waiting by the counter if they've given me my food. about 5 or 10 minutes I went right up to the counter and asked the other lad if it would be much longer and at that point it was apparent my food wasn't even on the grill. He said sorry and that he could get my order straight on and it would take another 10 minutes. I asked if it would be ok to get a refund. This lad was fine and polite but said he was new and wasn't sure how to complete a refund so would have to call his colleague. His colleague comes back (the one who served me and also asked if I'd be dealt with) and he said to me 'I just asked you if you'd be dealt with' to which I explained I thought you were asking if I'd be served and he said no that's not what he was asking. At this point the new lad had been fine and had decent customer service but I couldn't understand why his more experienced colleague had a bit of an attitude. He also didn't seem to know how to run a refund through so he stormed off somewhere and came back and dumped the cash on the counter without making eye contact and said here I'll pay you out of my own pocket. Now I wasn't rude at any point during my visit and in fact me standing there not wanting to be rude or chase up my order too soon was perhaps my mistake. Mistakes happen and if I'd just been given my refund with and a quick 'sorry about that' then I wouldn't be writing this but I just felt the attitude stank. Fair enough, when I was asked if I've been dealt with then perhaps I could have been more clear myself but at the end of the day I'd paid for an order which wasn't processed so God only knows where my burger and chips went as it was either given to someone else or never cooked in the first place and that certainly wasn't my fault.

Disappointing. Have been coming here for a few years now and have always had a good experience (despite the usually unfriendly staff), however today I went to order my usual strawberries and chocolate crepe and was highly let down. The crepe had clearly come from a packet and you could tell it was not fresh at all as it took about 2 minutes to prepare. I also asked for just strawberries and chocolate but they had put brownies on as well, which I wouldn’t have minded if the crepe itself was freshly made. It’s a shame because when I’ve had crepes here before they have always been fresh, so not sure if it’s a recent change or they just had an off day. Quite sad as the ice creams are usually very tasty. Will not be returning as I don’t expect to be paying £5.95 for a crepe from a packet.

I picked up a really nice bean-based Veggie burger , with extra salad I believe , a generous portion of chips and a coffee for well under nine pounds. It was great value , tasted good and packed in a take -out bag which enables you to take a short walk to a picnic spot on the Hoe. Really good - Thank you

We spent one of the hottest days of the year in Plymouth; our children had been on the rides next door and we went over to here to get ice cream. There were tables both inside and outside; we couldn't see any signs advising that customers ordering just ice cream couldn't sit on the tables. I went inside and ordered our ice cream; for 2 Mr Whippys with flakes, a galaxy caramel large tray and chocolate nut sundae it was under £10 so very good value. Inside the shop there were lots of images of the different ice creams available; but it was confusing to understand what options were available. I would suggest just making it clear the different variety's available; another customer in the shop gave me a menu that made the options more clear. We all enjoyed our ice cream. The only downside, and we didn't realise until we were going; was my chocolate nut sundae didn't have a chocolate flake although the images suggest it was included :-( Would visit again when in area!

Great location. Simple menu for food. Which is fine. Works well for high volume. Lots of staff running around. But not much being achieved and it wasn't even busy. Seems to be deliveries taking up the time of the staff. Ordered hotdogs for my kids and burger for myself plus chips to share. Simple simple stuff. Took 45 minutes to arrive cold. Quality of ingredients worse than a greasy spoon. No explanation of why so long a wait. It was all deep fried so a few minutes at maximum to produce. Chips had been refried and had the texture of cardboard. Come on guys it's the West Hoe a famous landmark for the SW. People want a quality product nowadays not poor quality food. I get your main business is ice-cream. Maybe stick to that. Best to get good feedback on what you do best. To add to it there was a young child behind the counter which a breach of food safety. Wouldn't mind so much but over £20 for food that is the cheapest of cheapest quality.

Avoid at all costs. Unpleasant people who have no idea of a community pub. No care in the world other than themselves.
