Used to be good under old owners, now it’s all overpriced and sparse. For what you get it is extortionate, Coca Cola is pricey, where do you see that? Great venue, however awfully run and myself and others can all say we preferred how it was at the start of the year.

I had a truly disappointing experience at the Caffeine Club recently. After a long day, I was really looking forward to enjoying some Cheesy chips with beans. Unfortunately, the order was incomplete – no beans – and the chips were barely edible. When I asked for the missing beans, they were badly presented and seemed to have been microwaved. The staff's attitude was poor, and the overall quality of the food was completely unacceptable. Based on my experience, I would not recommend the Caffeine Club for a meal.

*Original review below - amended review follows The menu used to be cheap and cheerful. Massive portions of bland food at student prices. Not any more. It's a great menu, still studenty in that its comfort food but it's all done really nice.*Amended below. The portions are still very generous. Yes you still get your 2 pint milkshakes and your tankard of tea. But there is more quality there now. The venue itself is really nice and cosy too. The seating is nice with big soft booth type tables for groups and there are even wood burners for heating which adds to the warm feel. The staff too always seem friendly and happy to help. They can be busy at times as it's just so popular. I have had a few things missing the few times I've been there recently but this has been sorted without much hassle. Picture below are some "pizza fries" cheesy chips with loads of toppings. Chicken strips and some sort of burger. It was my mate's burger and I didn't think to ask. A kinderella shake. Sooo good. * July 2024 I have dropped my score to a 3 star after coming here multiple times recently. I have had some shocking food. Whilst the atmosphere is still nice and cosy and the staff still seem friendly, the poor food quality means I will stop going. As an example, I ordered a burger one day and this came in a rock hard stale bun. So this was either frozen and then defrosted and they didn't notice or they noticed it was stale and thought toasting it would hide the staleness, which of course it did not. Another gripe is the menu and the fact the burger comes with chips but doesn't say and so I ordered some extra chips for another fiver or so. A small gripe perhaps but the menu has changed so that there are a bunch of options for chips such as the pizza fries or these saucy ones I ordered. This isn't too big of a deal other than it seems to be something people do often by mistake and the staff never seem to mention it to anyone ordering. - In there defence when I complained about the burger and said I wasn't eating it, I asked for a cup of tea and a desert instead, they obliged. That was just very lacklustre too. But they did try and you have to appreciate that. My main complaint here, would be the inconsistency. One mistake or missing thing wouldn't be an issue. But we have been here enough recently to realise even if you order the same thing two days in a row, you simply don't know what you'll get. Even if you are sat at the same table and order the same thing, it may come out looking different and your left wondering if you have got the right order. If they don't have stuff on , it may be left out or substituted. If its stale, you may be served it anyway. It is just not a great experience.

Double espresso, not espresso! One of the worst espresso I have tried!

Would highly suggest USA double espresso shake and nachos

To get a beer you have to go to the coffee side and then make them walk around to the bar side, or ring a doorbell.

Really disappointed with the service and quality of milkshake that I ordered, especially compared to previous 2pints I have received, I think the presentation is poor, no kinder bueno pieces like previously. I think either the quality of the milkshake needs to improve and the cup it comes in or the price needs to be reevaluated.

Although the food was tasty, we ordered two bacon and egg baps, which took 30 minutes to be brought to us...minus the eggs! There was no apology or explanation for the delay.

American style diner not the best but not the worst

Cosy, friendly coffee shop and restaurant in the heart of Plymouth city centre, the food, coffee and milkshakes are the best in town with a wide selections. There are many parking spaces outside of it and Regent Street car park is very close as well. It is one of our favourite places to eat and drink in Plymouth, staff are always welcoming, friendly and keen to help, we will certainly be going there many more times!

DO NOT BUY FOOD. Been vomitting and struggled sleeping after eating a meal here. This could be due to all the sauces never being refridgerated, despite all the sauces clearly being marked with "refridgerate after opening". This could also be due to the menu being 4 pages, any competent owner would understand to not have an excessive food menu. Stay away from any food here, the drinks are alright tho.

Waited 25 minutes for our drinks despite it not being busy, the staff were rude and lacked basic customer services skills. The manager was even rude enough to be talking rudely about another customer!! They clearly spent all they money on the decor and couldn't afford to train their staff or invest in quality produce. What makes it worse is the coffee was cheap dark roast and taste like dirt! So disappointing!!!!

Great food and a wide selection of drinks

I have been to caffeine club a few times for hot drinks and milkshakes and every time I go and make the same order it comes out completely different so the staff have obviously not been trained the same. The last hot chocolate I got the staff mixed white hot chocolate powder and normal together for absolutely no reason and it tasted like gone off milk. When I complained they were really friendly and kind and happy to give me another one which was so much better. Overall, most times I have been, I have had no problems but last time did put me off a little bit. I will visit again however because the staff were helpful and willing to make me a new one.

Love the place, especially when they let us furrys go there for a day event

Went there for some food and drinks with some friends. Drew!!!! was very helpful with a certain allergen one of my friends has and he made sure to take good care of us during our time there. Food was delicious definitely try the pizza fries and the milkshakes are always amazing! 10/10

Just popped in for a coffee and ended up having breakfast. If you live bacon, then this is heaven. There’s also a massive choice of coffees to choose from.

Popped in with my 5yo boy. Staff were pleasant. Coffee and food were OK, but sausage bun and bacon bun took about 30-40 minutes. I felt like the entire place could do with a good scrub. But I do think that's the appeal for students and people wanting food after a night out boozing. I don't think I will return.

Really great place, amazing coffees and cocktails. Breakfast is great but for dinner it’s fairly average.

One hour wait for a couple of coffees

An hour of waiting for one shake in an almost empty place. Employees go back and forth. The premises are dirty and require general cleaning. Sofas with stains and crumbs. There are empty cups and plates on every table from previous guests. I'll give it a wide berth.

The cookie dough dessert tasted amazing, the portion was big so it’s better to share it with others. The burger set was average. I think I’d try another dish next time. I like the atmosphere of the restaurant. The price is also reasonable.

Came for a oat hot chocolate and I wasn’t disappointed. Really yum but could’ve gone heavier on the marshmallows. Great service, tables less sticky than I remember which is good. A fun vibe, also good music.

Absolutely fuming! 3 weeks ago we booked a table for 11 people for my son's 18th birthday on new years eve, we turn up to find they aren't even open! this has totally ruined what should've been a great day and we are not going to be able to find anywhere on new years eve now! Thanks for ruining our day.

Great place to come for coffee and a light bite with friends. Staff are very polite, friendly and welcoming. Food is nice enough with a variety to suit all palets and wallets, very wide variety of drinks both hot and cold. Yes it's in a student area and students do make up the bulk of the clientèle but don't let that put you off, the atmosphere and decor is great. Weather you just want to unwind with a hot beverage or meet with friends for a drink and a nibble, then I can say this is one of the best places to go.

Food was below average for me. 2 of the 3 dishes we ordered were ok, 1 was poor. We waited and waited and waited for our drinks, finally after a second reminder we got them but they were good to be fair. Not great food, poor service, not sure I'd return. Shame really as it's a pretty cool looking place.

2 weeks ago i had the absolute pleasure of visiting this fine establishment. By my surprise i met a lovely young fellow of a cat. i heard rumors of this cat but seeing him in the flesh or should i say furrrr was brilliant and now must rate cafe 5 STARS

I had an amazing experience and was made to feel extremely welcome by all of the staff, I enjoyed some well prepared food delivered with a smile. Big shout out in particular to David and Sophie & all of the kitchen staff!!!

Came today with my family and well utterly disappointed. We paid a fair amount for food and milkshakes and well the milkshakes were absolutely disgusting. The food was average. The state of the place too was vile. Tables were more sticky than a night clubs floor. I can fairly say we will not be returning, I would have much preferred a meal at McDonald’s so yeah there’s my honest review. Think the owners need a serious re think or maybe close the place down.

Student gaff. Possibly the worst food ive eaten outside of a hospital. The Nachos weren't nachos but some kind of corn savoury 'crisp' things. The salsa was thin and cold and all coagulated under this coating of melted cheddar. Nae jalapenos! Also thin weak tea. Its true 'fast' food served slow.

Really nice place, came here for some cocktails which were really good! There is a great variety. When I went they had run out of some ingredients but the bartender, (Alex I think) was really great and replaced the missing ingredients with substitutes and was overall really friendly!

A hidden gem. Can't believe I haven't been here before! Man size portions, well cooked, great selection. Doggy friendly in the outside area. I will probably just move in this summer! The best mozzarella sticks in Plymouth 😍

Food was overpriced and mediocre at best with very cheap produce. The whole place smelled bad and the tables , carpets and decor was filthy dirty . My second and last visit there . I felt unclean upon leaving .

I had the milkshake (the honey monster) "2 pints" it was lush 💕 I definitely would recommend it and the others would probably be nice too. The inside was very nice and the decorations were awesome. Definitely recommend coming here.

Eh, not worth it really. The decor is awesome, very cool. But the food is overrated and over priced to be honest, £17 on two soft drinks and two bowls of chips that were warm at best is just not my idea of a good time. Have been here several times and it’s always the same experience. Not somewhere I frequent if I can help it.

Chilled place, good food and good drinks!

They have an amazing range of food and very tasty to I had the big breakfast and monster munch nachos yep you read that right monster munch nachos sooo good but not as good as the HUGE milkshake 2pints to be precise and wow that was so good not going to lie felt a little sick afterwards but totally worth it.

Been to Caffine Club twice now with the family, first time was good, had flatbreads and lemonades, basic but good food and decor of the place is great. However, our 2nd visit was terrible and will never go back. Sadly this is down to the food only as the staff were really good although I will say there were a couple empty tables with leftover food still there which meant we were limited to were we can sit but hey that could have been timing. Now the main reason for the 1 star is the food. We decided to venture beyond flatbread and had a burger, hot dogs and club fries (bacon with american cheese) and all of it was utterly awful. Sadly all of it was cheap ingredients: The hot dog itself was a cheap British sausage in a nasty stale bread The "Mc Pig Burger", the patties tasted like Dr Brain's Faggots which was uniquely wrong at every level plus the shredded pull pork ... well god knows what that was The Club Fries was ok but sadly let down by shredded bacon, very salty and would have worked so much better with lardons. What a shame but for £50, 1 burger, 2 hot dogs and fries plus 4 fizzy drinks and for it to be really bad, I had to review it to let others know. Don't be tempted to have food here but perhaps a drink and you can't go wrong.

Full breakfast. Cold beans, nasty sausages and hash brown was frozen inside. Not the first time this has happened. Sent it back.

Ordered a large coffee came in a small cup! and milkshake 2 pint The milkshake was mainly cream! Not what I expected for the expensive price ! We didn't order food after reading the poor reviews on here The decoration of the place is great and from the outside

We sampled the chicken strips, cheese burger, bean burger, breakfast burger and jalapeño bites. The jalapeño bites weren't bad, chicken strips tasty and portion sizes were good (mostly just really filling chips though). But the burgers were so bad. Lots of the sauces I was excited to try were sitting in the sun going off. Currently feel sick. Staff were unenthusiastic and we had a staff meeting going on next to our table the whole time which seems quite unprofessional to me. Safe to say we won't be back. Could be a cool place to eat.

Always friendly service and good coffee

Walked in on a Saturday evening at about 7:30pm with no booking. Staff were amazing, friendly and accommodating. Food was perfect and came quickly. Milkshakes were fantastic. Staff helped with our birthday cake, lit the candles and all came and sang etc. Only fault was the toilet facilities were very unpleasant and extremely dirty. Would of been 5* if the toilets were clean. Will definitely return.

Such a sweet little (well, quite big actually) café come dinner, loads of seating options and a pretty extensive menu, although I only opted for cheesy chips. The service was wonderful, friendly and caring staff with a great work ethic and lovely chat. Prices were competitive. The aesthetic is wild, it's like something from an American dinner meets a chick cosy coffee house, there's something to look at at every turn and it feels fun and happy to exist there. I ended up being stranded in this part of town for a good few hours and stayed here for about 3h, making sure to grab drinks along the way. The drinks menu' is LARGE, they have a huge variety of novelty caffeinated beverages and plenty of other drink choices too. I went for a novelty mocha which was delicious. The toilets were clean, but half way up a staircase and through a small doorway, so if you require mobility aids, you won't be able to access this toilet. I do not know if they have an accessible WC on the ground floor. I would happily kill time here again, it's comfortable and made me smile to be included in the bizarre but fun aesthetic of it all.

Arrived at eleven on a quiet night, ordered margaritas. Waited half an hour, salted glasses of lime juice appeared. Staff were very nice.

Food was absolutely disgusting, chips weren’t cooked and the rest was pre cooked and then over cooked again, both myself and my partner woke up very poorly after eating here , cost us £30 including two drinks mine was ok (drink) partners wasn’t but could tell it was the first one pulled of the day it tasted rank, in his words (skunky) complained to the manager and got asked if wanted some more drinks , that’s £10 not £30, I wouldn’t of accepted any more food or drink if they offered the full menu. Need to sack your chef, lazy work for such a pricey menu. Far from a breakfast , wouldn’t feed it to an animal let alone a human.

We came in on a saturday, and it was incredibly busy, but the staff were really REALLY nice, and the wait time for food was actually really short. Chips weren't great on todays visit, but everything else was alright. Good atmosphere and good value / large portions of food.
