Love this pub. It's the best pub in Marlborough. The locals are friendly as are all the bar staff and you are immediately made to feel welcome. It's got a good selection of beers and if you're hungry the café in the courtyard is excellent for breakfast and lunch. I can't fault this pub.

We were greeted by a friendly HUW We were given a table in the restaurant . Decorated for Christmas 🎄 He kindly advised us to order quickly as a table of 15 people were shortly to arrive . We ordered meals and drinks which were all excellent . And we didn’t have to wait long at all .so sound advice from HUW 😀 All the staff were there to make our experience enjoyable . I am sure we will be visiting again . Thank you to all the Red Lion staff 😊

I was looking for short notice Sunday lunch for 4 and as our friends were staying here we decided it was the right place. We have Sunday lunch often and would have chosen somewhere out of town if they hadn't have been booked up. I was not impressed with the offering here. It was OK but knowing what I could have been served elsewhere I was disappointed. Not enough meat. Everything was already on the plate...I would expect a big dish of steaming veg separately....but no...just 1 floret of broccoli I slice parsnip.a few bits of carrot. Not what I expected and to be honest....a bit embarrassing as I was treating them. Sorry. We often stop by door coffee and cake but won't be having Sunday Lunch again.

Stayed for three nights on a bed , breakfast and evening meal deal which we thought was very good value. The river view room was very nice. All the food we had was faultlessly prepared and really enjoyable. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We took the train into Bath on one of the days and walked to Bath along the canal on the other day , a really lovely walk. Bradford on Avon is a pretty town with some interesting shops and we hope to return sometime.

Super nice small hotel, a perfect stop between London and Cornwall. There is small pub as well which we didn't have the chance to experience as we arrived late, but looked super cute. The yummy homemade cookies and the tea in the room is super nice touch

I used to go here often as a convenient meeting spot off the A419. Always enjoyed it and looked forward to it. This time the Red Lion burger (which is now £20) was not up to previous visits. Rather dry and slightly gamey in flavour. Dog friendly but apparently they now have to be on leads.

Great evening! It did not disappoint! The black rock fillet steaks were amazing. The young waitresses were both lovely, always smiling & nothing was too much trouble for them. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and we all enjoyed the evening. We would highly recommend a visit here!

Sunday lunch was what I booked, not a tasting menu!! Gravadlax starter. Maybe 20 grams of dry salmon. No bulk, no taste. Roast beef for mains. Maybe 60 grams of beef. Too little to taste, literally one mouthful of meat. First and last visit, a shameful presentation of a traditional Sunday lunch. I would be embarrassed to take guests to this. Many restaurants/pubs offer better. For top class Sunday lunch try the Millstream at Marden or the Mayfly at Fullerton. Top quality beef, vegetables and consistent quality. So disappointed with Greys

We visited on a Sunday for breakfast. Arriving a couple of minutes after 10am (opening time), we queued for a table and then again to order food. There were plenty of tables but appreciated it was busy - not all tables were full. We waited for 50 minutes for our food to arrive, although coffee arrived much earlier. This was prompted by us asking where our food was/checking the order had been made, to which we were told ‘we’d just have to wait because it was busy’. The food arrived 5 minutes later. The food was tasty and we’ve no complaints about the quality or price. But, something about the system here just doesn’t make sense, queuing at every point and then waiting another 50 minutes for scrambled eggs on toast and a bacon sandwich, doesn’t make sense. We arrived at 10 and didn’t leave until 12:15…. People had started arriving for lunch! Sadly, we’d not return. There are just other places nearby that are doing it better.

On our trip to Salisbury we were in need of a drink so stopped here. The staff were friendly and it was a lively and busy place. We decided to extend our stay and had lunch of toasted sandwiches which were well presented and came quickly considering how busy the place was and the extensive menu of breakfast and lunch items available. I recommend this as a place to stop during an exploration of the city.
