Lovely Thai place with great food, some good beers on tap and very friendly service, smack in the middle of town.

Lovely restaurant! The food is a great price, and the service is very good. There is a very romantic atmosphere here. There aren't many places in Salisbury where you still get value for money spent and these is one of those rare gems!

This Thai is absolutely delicious and the combination with the food and local craft beers is great! Love the relaxed atmosphere and will be back again some time.

Excellent Thai food with top quality English ales - a great combination

I was so excited to visit here for some authentic Thai food, but was met by a cold greeting of, we’re full! Which I could see they were busy but not full, I then asked if we could look at the take away menu, then we were told they don’t do takeaway! As I watched take away bags and containers being made up! I really felt racially profiled and felt so taken back by the hostility of the staff! Safe to say we won’t be returning!

Didn’t expect to have this delicious Thai food in Salisbury. The receptionist at our b&b recommended this restaurant, and coconut soup (don’t remember the exact menu..) was my favorite.

We went here because my sister in law loves Thai cuisine and it was recommended by more people. We really enjoyed the set meal because it was a variety of more dishes, the portions were quite generous and the aroma coming from the food was amazing! There was enough variety to please anyone, it was a good price and the dessert menu was also really nice, I will definitely come back and would recommend this to any friend or family.

I absolutely loved this place! I went here because my sister in law loves Thai cuisine and we were all really happy with the meal, the set menus were a good option if you don't know what to choose, the rest of the menu is full of very valid options, a couple of vegetarian options were quite nice, the desserts were quite nice too, I will definitely come back when I want to take my friends and family to a good restaurant. I don't have any photos of the food only because the aroma was so good that I ate it before I could take photos but I absolutely loved this experience.

Great food. My wife loved the Fish curry and for me it was great to be able to sit down to a meal and have real beer on draught.

I popped in here by chance and I wasn’t disappointed :) The staff were pleasant and attentive. They quickly took my drink and food order. The food is delicious! Try the Thai green curry with prawns. A good shout if you want some authentic Thai food. You might need to book though. The restaurant is cosy and gets busy!

The Thai food here is in my opinion, the best in Salisbury. There are some very good Thai restaurants, but somehow this food has a class about it that feels authentic. Excellent choice of wines and well looked after beers. Will certainly revisit..

This was ok. Food was tasty but the fact there there has been not reviews attached to this place in the leat 12 months days a lot. I’m not sure they are keeping up. My meal didn’t have the colour and explosion of flavour that I expected. I can’t see me going back any time soon. Sorry dudes.

Starter of prawns tempura was good. Duck main course was disappointing. Pieces of duck were tough and had little taste. When asked if meal was good. I said about quality of the duck. I was told the chef would be informed. At the end I said again the duck was not good. Waitress said sorry, then try to imply that as I didn't want the ginger the taste would be no good. I said no the quality was not good. Why ask if nothing is done and imply it's the customers fault.

First time we've been back to the Rai d'Or for a while and it was superb! Duck pancakes for starters were delicious & generous, mains were authentically flavoured and really nicely presented. The wine list is thoughtful and well-priced. Service was attentive without being fussy, and just the right level of background noise for a Saturday night. Probably Salisbury's best Thai? Highly recommended!

A fantastic old cosy pub that serves great Thai food. Friendly, informal feel with a very welcoming atmosphere. Great value and good size portions. Worth booking as it is quite a small restaurant and I'm sure they are always busy. We will definitely return next time we are staying in Salisbury.

This was is a fantastic Thai food place that many moons ago was a brothel! Food was excellent, service the same and very reasonably priced( puddings for under a £5 is always good in my view)

Staying in Salisbury for a week. This Thai restaurant was recommended. I was a little unsure, as it appears to be a cross between a restaurant and a pub. The food was perfection, staff were all very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is friendly and informal. We both enjoyed our meals so much the first night that we booked again. I can honestly say that the soup and Beef Penang were the very best I've ever had. I would also recommend the ice cream - I had a scoop each of coconut and ginger and they were the perfect end to a perfect meal. I just wish we could take this restaurant home with us! Thoroughly recommended!

I have nothing negative to say about Rai D'Or. We truly loved every single dish we were served. You can tell everything was cooked fresh, piping hot, beautifully soft meat and incredibly delicious. The service was amazing and we loved the vibe. We come from London but we come down to Dorset regularly and will definitely make this a frequent stop on our journey (maybe both ways...).

Great place to go in winter - lovely fires, v warm. More eatery than pub. Foods good, staff are a hoot. Very good atmosphere. Have to book mind - it's small.

We visited Salisbury for the first time this weekend and on a very cold Saturday night were looking for Thai food and good beer. The Rai d'Or does not look very impressive from the outside (an old boozer) and when we presented at the bar was fully booked. So we stopped for a beer to plan our next move. After about 5 minutes a very small table became available next to the bar and a log fire. We took it and had a truly excellent meal. The hosts were very friendly and we had an excellent early evening including providing us with a typed resume of the pub over the past 700 years. A wonderful and pleasant surprise.

We have been comming to the Rai D'Or for years and it has never let us down. A unique blend of good old fashioned British pub and a Thai restaurant. The service is great the food is great and the ale us great. Cannot recommend highly enough. Go visit.

Had a lovely meal there with two friends. We went for the 3 person set menu, which was a good range of food and there was plenty of it. Combined with a good mixed starter and then nice desserts the meal was lovely. Staff were friendly and we're able to cope with my friend's peanut allergy.

Ok, 2ndvisit. This is the best Thai in Salisbury The pub it's based inis a genuine olde world's log fires place. Only issue is it's not open that many hours n you need to book. Do plan ahead and book. It's worth it.

Authentic Thai food and very friendly service. Appetizers and mains were delicious and they stayed open late just for my mate and I to have some beers. Super nice people!

Excellent food. The restaurant was packed on the Saturday night we visited without a reservation, so lucky we got a table. Located in oldest pub in Salisbury, this restaurant serves a good, but not too wide, selection of meals. We had the Tiger Prawn Rolls as a starter, followed by a Duck Curry, Thick Fish Curry, and Special Hot Rice. All excellent however the fish was exceptional. Service efficient, bar prices as expected and wine by the glass. Nothing to fault. Happy to recommend

I have come here a LOT over the years. It's sort of a mix between a proper pub (with well kept local beers) and quality Thai food (I strongly recommend the thick fish curry but 'foodie' friends rave about the other dishes too). The staff are lovely and the atmosphere intimate and unique. Salisbury is lucky to have the place.

A Salisbury institution! Real ale pub and Thai restaurant extraordinare, serving authentic food to small tables in a cosy heritage pub. Even has a real fire going in the corner.

An open fire, real ales beautifully kept and served with wonderful Thai food. I thought I was in heaven. Also reasonably priced for the quality.

The food here was amazing. The service was just awesome. They are very dog friendly and made us feel very welcome. Brought the dog water right away she was very comfortable near the little fire place the had. Will go back, for sure. No photos due to hunger and no food left.

My friend and I visited on Friday night and we were a little disappointed. Starters were good, crackers, prawn & chicken toast (which was hotter than the sun!) and chicken satay. For mains we opted for two noodle dishes to share which were very generous in size but a little tasteless. The pad Thai was a bit…meh I have had better and the spicy chicken noodles were fine. The Prosecco was good and the service was great, the whole meal cost £54 but I don’t think I’d likely return.

We had an absolutely delicious meal finished with a superb cognac recommended by the owner. Soft on the palate and a beautiful bouquet. One of the best I have ever had.

Seriously one of the best Thai meals we’ve ever had. We chose the set dinner for 2 at under £20 a head, and had mixed starters, a chicken and a beef dish, stir fried veg and 2 portions of rice. The flavours were stunning and the portions very generous. We added some spare ribs, spicy crackers and a bottle of not overly expensive wine. We came out feeling very happy with life in general! The service was unobtrusive but very polite and efficient. The tables were well spaced apart and the atmosphere was cosy. We loved our couple of hours there. Super place.

We were visiting Salisbury and saw this advertised on one of the tourist maps so decided to drop in at the end of a day out. We hadn’t booked but fortunately they had a spare table. Essentially it is a pub that serves Thai food. The staff were so friendly, the food was delicious and we had a really lovely time. So happy we stumbled across this great place. Highly recommended. Had a home delivery last night. Sweet and sour chicken, vegetarian yellow curry, pad Thai and egg fried rice. We pre-ordered for 6.30pm. Our food arrived on time, piping hot and delicious! One of our favourite places to eat in or take out in Salisbury. The Rai D’Or never disappoints.

We were staying at a farm B&B in Broad Chalke and had no luck getting any takeaways to deliver! We didn't have a car and the nearest shop was miles away. Rai d'Or were super helpful, they were very friendly and agreed to drive a little further out for us. On top of excellent service, the food was delicious!!

Great for take away Phoned the order in from a local hotel, they immediately offered to deliver it to us there, not needed but a nice touch, order was taken over the phone and the pick up time given re how long the dishes would take. Arrived and the food appeared from the kitchen with a hand written itemised receipt, wonderful friendly staff.Food was really good, vegetable tempura, chicken satay and 2 different curries, would definitely recommend

Well...after my husband waited half an hour from the 18.15 pick up time, he finally arrived home( 5 mins max from city centre) our starters were cold and soggy...mixed h'or d'ourves. Followed by cold egg fried rice, slimey sweet n sour chicken and a very chewy duck noodle special dish. No satay sauce packed in for the starter.Extremely disappointed, definately not worth the money. Would never recommend or return. I'd have rather cooked myself but we thought we'd treat ourselves during lockdown. Shah Jhan Indian is way beyond this standard so our money and loyalty is better there. Sorry but a BIG massive fail. Going 2 bed hungry.

Love the Rai D’Or, but had our first delivery tonight in lockdown. Absolutely amazing, just so fragrant and brilliant. Definitely try them for takeaway.

Antes del Covid 19, excelente comida tailandesa recién preparada con muy buena cerveza de cervecerías especializadas. Ahora, gran comida tailandesa. Nada ha cambiado excepto que usted pre-ordena y luego recoge en la puerta lateral. Con el mismo alto nivel, el chef se adaptará o cambiará si es necesario (no demasiado chile, etc.) y como la comida aún está recién cocinada, aún puede tener una muy buena comida. Extraño el ambiente pero ¡oye! bien hecho Rai d'Or

RAI D’OR THAI-CUISINE TAKE-AWAY SERVICE Some time ago, some of our friends told us how much they had enjoyed a Thai-cuisine meal in Salisbury’s Rai d’Or pub. They recommended we should try one also but we never got around to it before the ongoing lock-down started. So, we tried a home delivery meal instead. When pre-ordering our meal, we found that the Thai reception staff of the Rai d’Or were pleasant, polite and patient – essential, if like us you are an OAP who is unfamiliar with Thai cuisine. We ordered a small selection of starters. For our main course, we ordered a selection of chicken, pork and prawn dishes both stir-fried and curried with jasmine rice. We were most impressed that the Rai d’Or catering staff were most willing to deal with dietary requirements such as gluten-free and mild curry tastes very successfully. Our order was delivered promptly, politely in individual polystyrene containers carefully packed within a larger container so it was hot and unspilled on arrival. As we were unfamiliar with Thai cuisine, it would have been helpful if the containers were labelled. Neither ourselves nor our guests had tasted Thai cuisine before. We all enjoyed the subtle tastes of the carefully-cooked diverse-range of reasonably-generous Thai food throughout our meal and thought well worth repeating our experience. We thoroughly recommend that Rai d’Or Thai-cuisine take-away service to you. We think that it is one of Salisbury’s hidden gems. MGW 12 Sep 2020

Vivimos a solo 5 minutos a pie de este encantador pub, por lo que nos encantó ver que habían podido "abrir" para tomar siempre mientras continúa el cierre. Como siempre, recibimos un excelente servicio por parte de Simon y su personal, y nuestro pedido estaba listo y bien embalado para nosotros; En casa pudimos disfrutar de una deliciosa comida tailandesa, tan buena como las comidas que habíamos tenido en el pasado en el pub cuando las cosas eran "normales". Gracias Rai D’or, ¡nos vemos la semana que viene para otro pedido!

Fuimos el año pasado cuando visitamos Salisbury por la noche y lo disfrutamos tanto que volvimos para esta visita también. Pequeño y encantador restaurante / pub que sirve auténtica cocina tailandesa y algunas excelentes cervezas. Los propietarios y el personal son acogedores y muy atentos.Tampoco nos decepcionó en esta ocasión, ciertamente tan bueno como antes. Completamente recomendado

Lovely food , very busy you need to go early to get a table , when you see locals come in getting takeaways thats good sign, I would just like to say they could make it a bit more warming ,with fire place, and Table Cloths , Especially when it is cold outside 😁 in January and February, as food is lovely , but will go back next time we visit Sailburys.

I've been here for about five minutes and I already love this place! Quirky combination of traditional Ale House but with a Thai menu. I'll update this review after eating; I ordered fish cakes and spicy noodles. Standby... Ok, fish cakes were good, noodles not so good but the sticky toffee pudding was awesome! Good ale, very pleasant staff and relaxed, cosy atmosphere give this place a solid 4 from me. I'd come here again.

Acordamos encontrarnos con unos amigos en Salisbury y reservamos una mesa aquí, ¡y qué buena elección! ! ! !Tenía un bar encantador en el que tomamos una copa mientras esperábamos a nuestros amigos. Tenían una buena selección de cervezas y vinos reales.Toda la comida era deliciosa, todos tuvimos diferentes entrantes y platos principales y probamos la comida de los demás. Hemos pasado tres semanas en Tailandia y sentimos que era una buena comida tailandesa auténtica. Había mucho y los cuatro disfrutamos muchísimo. El personal era muy encantador y nos encantó la mezcla de un pub inglés de estilo antiguo y un restaurante tailandés.Si estamos en Salisbury nuevamente, sin duda volveremos!
