The Dandylion in Wiltshire

The Dandy Lion was the only pub in Bradford we could find but when we walked in there were only 2 people in, all 4 cask ale pumps were covered over and the smell of damp and fusty cellar was awful, so we left. Maybe its just changing hands?

Ok so they aren’t doing food right now but wow what a warm wonderful place , Karen the barmaid was helpful and knowledgeable about the area , lovely old type pub with friendly people all around . I will be back soon , loved it .

Our food was delicious with great choice, on started mains and dessert - fabulous taste snd presentation No boring pub grub here! We would all definitely recommend the Dandy lion !! Best pub we’ve visited thus far during our travels in England. Food was top-notch and service was good. Cozy bar and nice dining room upstairs.

Fantastic lunch menu, with a few different things on there from the usual. I went for the pork ciabatta which had red cabbage and slices of fresh crispy apple and came with fries. It was delicious. The service we received couldn't be faulted either. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely pub, friendly and attentive staff, we had a delicious roast beef lunch. Dog friendly and always happy to accommodate requests where possible. Can highly recommend as the best roast in boa.

Very welcoming, friendly with good hospitality skills. Good food good service. We ate upstairs in restaurant on two consecutive nights and we weren't disappointed. Will be returning next year keep up the good work one of the best in town.

This is my favourite pub to visit. Food , atmosphere and cleanliness are amazing. We are Karen’s biggest fan for all she does to make this pub so great. I highly recommend.

We Went for lunch today and had the most amazing experience. The manager, Karen, could not have been more attentive, very knowledgable about the menu and super friendly. The young waitress was lovely and the food was to die for with very interesting dishes . We sat at an open window table, the sun was shining making it the perfect afternoon. We had a fantastic meal at the Dandylion. The new chef has created a delicious menu - the food was excellent, and was also very reasonably priced. Karen was extremely welcoming and the service was outstanding from the waiter. So good, we have just booked to visit again!

We had fish and chips. The peas that accompanied the dish were delicious, the service is very good and the owners are very nice.

A nice pub in an old building. Decorated well and clean. The Guinness was well poured and a fair selection of other offerings. I would recommend if you are visiting the area.

After reading reviews which all recommended, unfortunately the Dandylion fell short today. A half hearted welcome when arriving at the bar to order, I can only put down to tiredness. Ale selection needs improvement, not a lot going on there, usual suspects but no real! guest ale. Bite to eat was nice, usual pub grub. Atmosphere was more waiting room than vibrant verve, maybe we went at wrong time. Could try harder.

Staff were happy enough, but unfortunately, they only had limited draft drinks, so we only had 1 and left, we didn't try the food, so I couldn't comment on it.

Not always dinner available. Cosy atmosphere. It takes all cards. Good service. Limite overpriced menù. Often out of real ales.

The new bar guy Kieran gave fantastic service. Even though it was his first day at the Dandy he went out of his way to make us feel welcomed and to feed our small person with a brownie and ice cream before the kitchen was opened. When the kitchen opened for service the food itself was good quality and brought out quickly

Decent, solid, British. What you’d expect from pub food. My mom and I had the pork belly, which was tasty and not overly fatty. It had a nice crust, too. The rest of our table ordered the lamb and gammon and had no complaints. Portions are quite hefty. Seating upstairs is quieter, since it’s away from the bar. It seemed quite lively for a weeknight. I think they were understaffed because we saw the one server working both upstairs and downstairs, but he did a decent job.

Absoloutley amazing place. Great service as soon as you walk in the door. Also food was amazing! Would happily go again and again. The variety of drinks alcohol and non alcohol is second to none. Brilliant choices.

We had a delicious family meal here for mothers day, really tasty quality produce cooked really well. Only negative was from the vegetarian who found the Mushroom Kiev not really as described and was a bit of a let down. Would be good to have an alternative vege option for us to return.

Went to visit BOA today, went into the dandelion but was refused a drink because of booked tables....even though there were many tables empty....maybe they should put placed reserved times on a note, as loosing much custom. Staff also looked like they really didn't want to be there and were not hospital. Shame haven't been to BOA for a while....wont be coming back.

Pleasant, tidy, presentable-looking gastro pub. Lots of cheerful and polite staff. We four enjoyed our Sunday lunch and tried pork, chicken, beef and the mushroom Kiev. All were pronounced very good. I’m a light eater so I appreciated the kids’s option. The dessert menu looked tempting too, with a good range. Chums plumped for cheese cake and sticky toffee pudding which were likewise pronounced enjoyable. We all liked this place, finding it good value for money, what with the ambience, the good quality food and attentive service. We agreed we’d like to come back.

Fantastic experience, very friendly and lively atmosphere in the bar , went upstairs to our table for dinner for a more calm atmosphere, Food was fantastic, waitress was lovely, and her mannerism outstanding, voluntary tipping no service charge, and was wanting to tip with our experience. We held a surprise 60th birthday celebration upstairs in there room, which is beautifully decorated, they allowed us to put a few of our own decorations around balloons banners etc; and our own cakes … it was fantastic we had the best time the room is perfect for a gathering of around 50 people everyone loved it and the staff were amazing highly recommend this venue for a celebration … thank you to you all in The Dandelion for making it great 🧁🎁🎈🥰

Family get-together. Seven diners arrived early for a 6:00 p.m. reservation. Our table was upstairs, away from the bar which was already quite busy. We ordered drinks while checking the menu. We ordered at 5:55 p.m. and waited. Only one person was waiting at table, but she was also running the bar downstairs. It would be an understatement to say she was overstretched! Our food did not arrive at table until 7:40 p.m., which was far too long to have been kept waiting. The food was very well cooked, although one person’s looked as though it had been under the lamps too long; it had dried out somewhat. We decided against ordering dessert as everything was taking far too long. We do not blame our waitress - the pub was far too busy to expect her to be the only person working front-of-house. I doubt we’ll be back.

Went for lunch and was delighted with the experience. Good wine, great food. Burger was absolutely delicious, ham, egg and chips was amazing. Pleasantly busy but not overly crowded. Music was a little too loud but that depends where you sit. Would definitely go again, in fact, can't wait to.

The beef ciabattas are so good, as is the 6X beer. Love this place. A good find! Edit: Ate here the next day for an evening meal. They've ruined Miller & Carter for me! The steak was done perfect and the peppercorn sauce was spot on!

We went for a family dinner. Good pub menu choices, and great food from start to finish. Good range of beers to complement. Would definitely recommend.

We tried The Castle which was full and arrived at the Dandy Lion at 8:28. Asked for a table for 6 (+ a dog). Told that they stopped serving food at 8:30. After a quick check with the kitchen we were shown to the last free table upstairs - big enough for eight. Ordered drinks and told that a few dishes were down to the last couple of servings. Not a problem as we ordered a diverse mixture of dishes. Food pretty promptly delivered and excellent. Good atmosphere and good to see the place thriving. Great value - would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful meal this evening. All 3 courses were delicious and cooked perfectly, especially the steak. We thought it was really good value for money, topped off with a great atmosphere and brilliant staff. Special thanks to Kieran for his fantastic service!

What a great experience on a night I normally refuse to eat out ! Valentines! normally prices are inflated and food poor. Certainly not the case in the Dandy Lion we had an absolute delicious meal at a very fair price cooked by a caring and talented chef. Not many chefs can cook a 600g steak to perfection! It was just as we asked. Presentation was excellent and the portions plentiful The service was attentive friendly yet professional. This team really deserve support I’ve eaten twice here very recently and both meals were excellent a rare experience in this climate. They are using the local butcher to source their meat and it certainly shows in the food quality. The whole experience was great we shall be back hopefully this pub will not only be used by the many visitors to Bradford on Avon but also supported by the local people. We will definitely be back.

Love the Dandy Lion! It has a little bit of everything; an upstairs for a more intimate dining experience, downstairs for live music/great atmosphere and plenty of friendly faces. Great selection of beers, and everything is actually really well priced! Also, bar maid is wonderful!

While spending the weekend in Bradford-On-Avon for a family wedding, the day after we knew a Sunday Lunch is what was required…. We stumbled upon The Dandy Lion and was welcomed by a beautiful decor and smiley faces. We were served our drinks by friendly bar staff, after choosing a table we were handed our menus, and although it’s was a Sunday Lunch menu it was hard to choose from the mouth watering choices! We decided on starters of Calamari and Ham Hock Terrine. Now, we are both foodies and when I say it was the best two starters we have ever eaten and we have eaten many, they really were beautifully presented and extremely tasty. Moving on to our mains we had both decided on the Pork Belly, with rosemary and garlic roast potatoes, this came with roasted carrots, parsnips and the most spectacular Yorkshire pudding and being from Yorkshire (Leeds) it was up there with the best. My mouth is watering again thinking about this while I type 😂. To finish we were tempted by the puddings on offer but on this occasion we passed, however, our daughter chose a chocolate brownie that we took a slither of and it didn’t disappoint, it was smooth, rich and came with ice cream to cut through, a crumble for texture and strawberries to cleanse the palette. It was gone too fast for photo evidence! Prices were what we expected, paying that little bit more but it went unnoticed due to the quality of the food and service. It’s goes to say it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. A truly lovely pub and restaurant and with staff of the same to compliment. Looking forward to our next visit to Bath and Bradford-On-Avon, just so we can come here again! Jenny, Carl & Amelie

Gorgeous little pub, delicious food and really kind staff who can’t do enough to help. I booked it out for a baby shower this weekend and they reserved the table I wanted, let me decorate, were really attentive and even put Camembert’s back on the menu for us (which were perfectly done and the homemade chutney was so good), and they catered for 1 gluten free at the last minute too! Thank you so much for making it such a lovely afternoon for us!

Beyond our expectations, the Dandy lion in Bradford on Avon completely exceeded the night that we were expecting to have. Karen, the landlady welcomed warmly as always as we usually visited or a drink but tonight we decided to also have a meal and a date night. Kieran was completely attentive and made the whole experience pleasant from start to finish along with Susie, one of their latest members who made sure that we were comfortable and everything was correct from the beginning to end of our meal. The food is absolutely outstanding so compliments to the chef and the overall night completely exceeded our expectations. The dandy lion in Bradford is the heart and soul of dining and definitely worth a visit to anyone passing by ,5 stars and beyond. Keep up the fantastic work team!

Nice pork belly with wine reduction sauce.

I made a window table reservation in advance for downstairs in the bar but people were occupying our seats on arrival. We were offered a table upstairs in their restaurant which turned out better as the pub was very busy. Kieran was our server and he was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the haddock and the pork belly. Their homemade desserts were fabulous too. Will definitely be returning again soon 😊

Evening meal. Great service from waiting staff, manager of upstairs level went out of his way to supply alternative chair. Good communication with customers, giving info on the place. Excellent food although the lamb shank proved too generous, not complaining! Highly recommended. Parking in BoA is a bugger!

On a cold December evening we popped into the Dandy Lion with family hoping they could fit us in for a meal. We were shown to a cosy booth upstairs and looked after by the lovely staff. The place is very relaxing with lovely decor and tables were kept cleared, set ready for the next diners. The service was friendly, checked we were happy with food, needed extra drinks etc. The food really was delicious, one of the nicest meals I’ve had recently. Three of us had the chicken and one the venison pie, everyone gave their meals top marks. We also tried the mulled wine - a must at Christmas, very tasty and aromatic. All in all a fab evening!

Had a wonderful Xmas lunch with a large group of my friends today and it did not disappoint. Fantastic roast dinner which was very tender and flavoursome. Attentive service and really lovely staff. Shame that tips can’t be put on your bill though as none of us had cash, that’s quite unusual in this day and age. We felt bad about that so will make an effort to drop cash in post meal as they all really deserved it. Thank you all, we’ll be back!

Karen was a delight. We came in for a glass of wine and a nibble, but found they had their Christmas special menu on, which consisted of only ‘main’ meals. We were content to sit and have a drink as it’s a lovely pub, but Karen spoke with the chef who very graciously made us so yummy sandwiches. Lovely experience. The dandy lion has a cosy, welcoming atmosphere, that I would recommend anyone who is near to pop in!

Had Sunday lunch here yesterday and we were not disappointed. Staff were friendly and attentive checking if everything was ok. Food was delicious, we had the roast belly pork. The Yorkshire pudding was one of the best we’ve tasted and the veg was also good.

We have just had the most delicious Sunday roast I've had for a very long time! Along with the friendly, welcoming staff, the character of the place and relaxed atmosphere we had a lovely time, and I would highly recommend a visit!

Extremely welcoming landlady, who allowed us to place a lunch order, even though we only had minutes before the kitchen closed. First class meal and a lovely atmosphere.

Ate here today on recommendation from our hotel. The food was pretty awful and took ages, wouldn’t recommend.

Dined and had a few drinks as a group of five. Pleasant customers, staffs are polite and welcoming. As for the food, everyone enjoys their meals with no complaints. We ordered burgers and fish and chips. The fish tasted fantastic as it was cooked fresh and served with nice crispy french fries. Five stars 🌟 ✨

Nice pub in the centre of town. Good atmosphere and great playlist make it a perfect spot to relax and escape the Bradford traffic. The staff were excellent, a decent selection of drinks and freshly cooked food. Look forward to returning.

First time trying this pub/restaurant. Went for a late lunch. Had the fish & chips and it was delicious. Food took a little while to come but was worth the wait. Nice bar staff as well.

10 out of from us .Chris the barman was extremely friendly, we went for a drink in the afternoon and returned for dinner that evening . It was superb especially the apple strudel. . Thanks Chris for looking after us

First thing that I liked about the place was the ambience and overall feel It felt like I would love to sit there for hours although I couldn't We ordered couple of ales of which Hogsback was real good. Also the dry cider was great....
