After numerous trial and errors we decided to try here as Stroud WAS CLOSED ON A MONDAY . Many places seemed to be just vegan or one place at 1300 hrs had no bacon for a sarnie . The very large undercover food hall was only partially open , no customers and bizarre selections. The only pub we found The Retreat was empty and only did burger and chips. So we decided to leave. Our last resort was 15. Very little choice. Service very good ,but that's it .

Excellent food for two weary cyclists - as usual in this cafe. Also very kind support for my eye problem which needed an ice pack. Good food and helpful, understanding staff, what else can you ask for? Well be back.

It was great to get inside this friendly cafe after the biting cold of the recent icy spell outside. The coffee was excellent and they also had a selection of homemade cakes - I had a piece of lemon drizzle cake which was great. Dogs are welcome. There are locally produced arts and crafts on sale as well.

10 for lunch initial greet was brusque and unfriendly. Inside looked quaint if a little in need of a bit of tlc. Outside pergola is attractive and with the River Frome running by its side a delightful place to eat . Service albeit Sunday lunchtime was slow cold drinks came with hot glasses not nice no ice ( or sausages) we learnt poor stock control I fear . Food orders taken and they started arriving 2 of our party had finished their brunch before the last arrived poor timing again albeit busy . Food quality v price we all felt were opposite ends . My keto breakfast eggs perfectly cooked mushrooms ok ,bacon overdone ,avocado tasteless pea shoots old . Similar reports back from other dishes ,Mexican beans dry Sourdough was so hard we had it replaced for toast. In short beautiful spot so obviously worth paying for location however drinks and food don't match price asked as quality of surroundings isn't reflected in food quality. We will as usual try again perhaps at a quieter time and a big thank you for our 100k reads of our reviews. Back soon

Delightful little cafe! Have been twice recently, and both times I have had the homemade soup. Really tasty each time and they seem to do a different flavour weekly. A very reasonably priced menu for all their food, cakes, ice creams and drinks. Lovely to wander around the Abbey gardens after, which you can follow a path for a decent walk. Thoroughly recommend this place for a relaxed lunch and an unspoilt easy walk after. I feel I should also add that the service is friendly, fast and always with a smile!

My Wife and I were staying at a local AirBNB just up the road (The Piggery, also excellent !) and decided to have our evening meal at the pub. Both our meals were exceptional but what made it so memorable was the super friendly staff. We were made to feel so welcome it was amazing. Next time we are in the area a meal at the Old Crown is definitely on the itinerary !!

Very friendly, excellent food and service - multiple sandwiches regularly purchased & they're lovely everytime. The toasted panini's are lush and almost as good as the homemade cakes!! Pleased to return time and time again.
