An absolutely epic Sunday roast - being spoilt for choice went for the mixed roast option - generous helpings of 3 perfectly cooked meats with ALL the trimmings for each, a fantastic selection of veg and extra gravy. GF options all available, alongside other trad menu options (fish, vegetarian etc), all at reasonable price. Plenty of ales, lager & cider on tap and a warm friendly welcome. Thoroughly recommend

We arrived in Uley tonight for our anniversary weekend and went along to The Old Crown Inn for dinner. The reviews on Trip Advisor were good but everything exceeded our expectations! The food was fabulous - I had the burger and my husband had the cod and chips. His only complaint was there wasn’t more! Everything was fresh and beautifully prepped and cooked. Even the side salad was full of favour and colour. Last but not least was desert - blueberry and coconut cheesecake! The favours complimented each other and just topped a wonderful meal. Also a shout out to the staff who were very welcoming and attentive throughout the whole evening.

Thought we'd call in today as we pass the pub all the time and Try their roast dinner. Lovely little pub, great selection of beers BUT, an hour and a half wait for two roast dinners is just total madness. Complained to bar staff, the excuse was: its a small pub. Surely this should make the food come out within a more reasonable time? £18.50 for a mixed meat roast dinner and honestly a happy meal would be more food. Ate half of my wife's as the food was not a sufficient size to feed an adult. Such a shame as this pub has potential but I doubt I'll be back after this visit, what I did have was tasty but again the portion size is totally Inadequate as is the wait and we weren't the only people complaining

Looked OK in trip advisor , so took the plunge. OK it isn't the greastes looking place but does have some of the old world charm. The food is brillient. I never thought I would rate 'chips' as excelent, but they really were. My wife and I had pies (me steak , wife chicken). Both were excelent. We got a seperate bowl of veg (which wasn't cooked to death), and included was red cabbage:-). The garlic bread to start was excelent.

After a lovely short walk through the country side we stopped in the Old Crown Uley for a few drink and had some chips. We have a child with severe allergies who loves chips and we find these days it's harder to safely have food out. However Kate and Tom were more than happy to answer my allergen questions and to top it off, they only use 1 fryer specifically for chips which makes cross contamination very unlikely. Anyone with allergies knows how amazing this is.. so thank you Kate and Tom for a wonderful friendly and safe afternoon out.. xx Ps the chips were amazing

We booked a table for a Sunday lunch and chose the pub as they accepted dogs. Had a lovely walk, arrived a bit early but were happy to have a drink and wait. Ordered our food and waited an hour for our food to come out, ordered the mixed roast at £18 as we wanted all the trimmings, when it came out it looked like scraps of leftovers! Cold Yorkshire pudding, cold stuffing, no crackling, lukewarm potatoes, not even complete meats, waited 10 mins for the veg which looked nowhere near enough for 1 person let alone 2! We asked the lad who served us to tell what meat we had as they all looked the same ….scraps, he said he had no idea. Asked a lady if she was the manager, her response, depends who’s asking. Explained the issue, she was uninterested, just said they were very busy today but just read their reviews as they are really good! So leaving this one for you to decide! Would not go back ever again! Total shambles! And no way of getting a Sunday roast this late in the day so thank you very much!

We went for a pre-booked 1 pm Sunday lunch, taking two wonderful friends. We live relatively locally. Our food eventually arrived almost an hour and a half later and was disappointingly lukewarm. The waiting staff were superb but the maitre d’/chef/owner and her co-chef could not have given our concerns less consideration if they’d tried. Book at this pub if you are inclined to be nothing but grateful and appreciative, no matter what transpires nor how long you have to wait to receive your food!

We booked a table to eat at 7.30pm on a Saturday. The pub was recommended to us by the people we were staying with and the online reviews looked good. It was not very busy when we arrived, there were still tables available but we thought that this was probably just because of the season. The waitressing staff were lovely, the food was OK and reasonably priced and there was a really good choice of local ale. However, what let this place down for us was the rather unpleasant landlady who should probably leave her staff to look after the paying guests (unless there is an issue where she needs to, and should, step in). It may be HER pub, as she makes sure everyone knows, but if she want customers she needs to at least try to be a little more welcoming to them! I am not sure if I would recommend this place to anyone else. I really want to because it is a lovely setting and I really believe in supporting our local pubs but the LL really spoilt our enjoyment of the evening.

The Sunday Roast was one of the best I have ever had, exceptionally high quality ingredients, cooked perfectly. We booked the last slot available, a gamble with a Sunday Roast menu, our table was still occupied but they were so friendly despite being short-staffed, a mysterious New Years Day bug or just hungover…but the owners were so lovely and did not in any way try to rush us despite this. Highly recommend!

I'd parked on the road but they have parking at the rear (it was late decision to eat so I felt guilty parking all morning in their car-park). Welcomed immediately, always nice. The pub felt simple but not crowed in it layout with excellent fire alight at one end. Good selection of on-tap beers and cider, I had an Uley and a baguette, first choice was not on but what I had was good with generous salad. No hint of anything other than average grisly clods of fatty mince...must have been 300g in the bowl. Rather off putting. One other had a huge lasagne which again had no seasoning. The food waste from our table must have been 60%. The fourth had ham and eggs which was nice! Good beer. Hint: chef/cook needs to sample his/her dishes before they are served and learn about seasoning and herbs... and review the portion sizes which are frankly obscene.. Wont return I'm afraid.

The title is not a reference to the food - which was nice - but the fact the place lets unlimited numbers of dogs in the restaurant area while people are eating. Our first time there, and we were having a lunch on Sunday. We were only in the restaurant area for 15m before we were surrounded by two separate tables with very lively dogs. Not normally a problem, but the tables are quite close together and the dog owners did nothing to keep the dogs from constantly annoying us - even when our food arrived. Their dogs were jumping up at us/our table, whipping us with their tails, trying to get under our table. We moved our table further away (as two of our party were being constantly pestered) and tried to joke with the dog owners about it, but about 15m minutes later we were still getting harassed, and a one point a very large dog from the other table appeared right next to my face as I was eating - his owners had not attempted to stop him wandering around. There were also more dogs in the bar area. The place is quite small, so this was clearly marketing itself as a dog owners and walkers pub. There were also more dogs waiting to come in when we left. I don't think the place will attract many other types of customers if they're not able enjoy their food in peace.

All the food and the real ale were excellent, the only downside is Sarah is putting on weight :o)

My family of six stayed here one night while walking the Cotswold Way. The manager/innkeeper made us feel right at home, even preparing sandwiches for our hike the next day. The food was basic but to our liking. The accommodations weren't fancy but more than adequate after a long day of hiking. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future.

Good typical English pub service large portions of good English pub grub from a reasonably large menu. Prices are pretty good and I thought it good value.

Warm welcome and good service, five of us (and Ivor our labradoodle), arrived at the same time as another group and couple. I only saw one person serving behind the bar and one other serving the food. They had an 80th birthday party booked in and our meals still arrived in a timely fashion. Delicious, hot and service with a smile, thank you, you made at great start to my birthday weekend. Good choice of cider and ale too !

We ate here 3 times whilst staying in the village. We had friends with us on two occasions. The food was excellent, tasty, fresh, well cooked and very good value for money, the portions are big, so be be warned.I myself had the beef and ale pie then cottage pie on 2nd visit, really good, we all cleaned our plates, always a good sign I think. The ham I had with my ploughmans at lunchtime was delicious and a lovely huge fresh salad. I would recommend anyone staying in the village or driving past a visit is a must.

Went to this pub with friends. The pub itself is a lovely old pub and its location is brilliant. Good parking and nicely done inside. We went on a Saturday evening expecting it to be busy however there was two other groups in there and by 10 we were the only people there. I had vegetable lasagne to eat - I wouldn't have it again. It was watery with no cheese sauce. Chips and peas were nice though and not fair to judge food just on that. All in all, a nice pub but lacking atmosphere and probably better as a lunch stop off.

A lovely open fire and welcomed us on a wet and cold Sunday evening. The menu isn’t massive, but with a great selection of meals all from local produce and really good prices. We were spoilt for choice what to have and plumped for the lasagne and the Old Crown Pie (steak and Uley Ale). Both were delicious and such big servings, neither of us could manage a pudding, despite how good they looked! Will definitely be making a return visit – there’s more of the menu we need to work through!

Not a vast choice but a lot on the plates when it came. Decent pies fully packed. Good local real ales. Walkable from Stouts Hill at the other end of the village.

My family and I stopped here for lunch and liquid refreshment while walking in the area. We all enjoyed our food especially the jacket potatoes, fresh salad and steak and ale pie. All very good value. Dog friendly, lovely welcoming fire and Christmas decorations. A well run pub and we will be back.

As the only pub in the small Cotswold town of Uley, I’ve really wanted to like it. The pub has plenty going for it. Unfortunately on this last visit, my food wasn’t that good.

We were returning to Uley after 35 years - very warm welcome, and good basic pub fare. The landlord and landlady deserve success for the excellent genuinely local feel to the pub, and all that they put in to pub/B

I literally ordered from here and was waiting well over two hours for my food. I contacted just east and straight away it updated to food on its way..30 mins later I have my sister call to see what’s going on and they tell her my food was cancelled as they didn’t have a driver to deliver my food, yet they didn’t think to maybe CALL ME and tell me that..? Even 3 hours later ?? Even my app still says it’s on its way it is RIDICULOUS

Great decor and lovely view but the roasts had tough meat, poorly cooked roast potatoes and dry yorkshires. My daughters both had children’s meals and were unimpressed with the taste of the burger or the meatballs. Service could have been improved , we were not offered condiments, they dropped the cheese on the floor for the pasta dish and did not offer a replacement or the correct cutlery. When they asked how the meal was we replied that the meat was tough and they brought over steak knives. When the hostess came over at the end of the meal she hadn’t been informed about our earlier issue. I would pop in for a drink but I wouldn’t eat here as there are many better options for Sunday lunch close by.

We visited at lunchtime, and came back 4 more times during our stay. The food was delicious... especially the mushroom and stilton jacket potato and salad. The staff were friendly and efficient. There is a lovely garden, and also a comfortable indoors room. You're spoilt for choice!

Wonderful little cafe. Great attention to detail. Try the sausage rolls. Brilliant. Flaky pastry with a meaty filling that’s perfectly seasoned and cooked. That and the coffee made a really nice afternoon. Lilly the waitress's was great too.she got new Ice to put in my summer berries drink because the ice they had was scrappy. Very professional cafe. Highly recommend.
