The inside is really nice, staff are friendly, caramel latte was lovely but the Sausage/Egg Panini was a big let down. I would return but just for a cake and coffee, I won’t be trying any of there paninis ever again.

A light, warm and airy cafe and little gift shop with friendly staff. The day we visited the menu only consisted of cakes and hot drinks as training of the work experience staff was taking place. It was difficult to find any lower sugar cakes though suitable for diabetics or those watching their weight and we wished there had been some healthier fruit or cheese scones, tea cakes or biscuits available stead of so many sugary, high fat or creamy offerings. The Decaffinated coffee was really weak and tasteless so I didn’t drink most of it, please taste it to see and consider finding another supplier! The coffee in a cafe has to be much better for customers to make return visits!

I came across this place whilst out for runs before work. I then went in every other day for two weeks and recommended it to everyone I could. The 'bumpy road' cake is a recommendation. When I went they had a special morning shift for a lady with special needs and she served my coffee beautifully and we had a great chat - it really made my day. I cannot recommend this place enough - we need more of these.

Can't believe we only just found this amazing cafe. According to the menu it's main purpose is to provide work experience for the adults and young people with learning difficulties who study and/or live at the school and home next door. This explains how they can sell delicious cakes and coffee at bargain prices. It appears they have addressed the issue of portion size as our lemon bakewell was plenty for two to share, and there is more than enough seating. Support this café, give it a go, and don't be surprised if you end up becoming a regular visitor.

A great little place to stop by for a light lunch or a slice of huge cake and tea/coffee. Be warned- it is often full inside at lunchtimes although there are some seats outside at the back. Sandwiches/paninis were served with crisps and a lovely side salad with dressing. The cake portions are the largest I have ever seen! I recommend the cheesecake- delicious. Parking can be a little tricky as the car park is nearly always full as it is shared with the school next door. This is my go-to cafe on a Saturday when I have family/friends visiting Stroud. Everywhere in town is normally too busy and it is nice to have a little drive on to the common after visiting the farmers market. The cafe is large with ample indoor and outdoor seating, we have never struggled to get a table but it is also never empty. The food is very simple - sandwiches, jacket potatoes, soup but excellent value and HUGE portions. The sandwich with a salad sets me up for the whole day and I rarely need a full evening meal! There is a wide variety of cakes, the ones I have tried have been lovely and also a good portion size. The cake is available to go, which is dangerous! The staff are always friendly and helpful,it has a nice atmosphere and decor. Good for lunch or coffee & cake but nothing more substantial. The outdoor seating is lovely, surrounded by flowers in the summer.

Friday Lunchtime: First time at this broad-choiced Cafe. Parking in the Car Park to the side of Halfway Cafe at lunchtime isn't worth trying. If the car park looks full - it is full. Find a roadside space nearby instead.Popular with ladies-who-coffee; mothers-and-babies-who- buggy; walkers-including-dogs and anybody else who wants a light refreshment. This is a Cafe not a Restaurant. Quite good menu choice but need to check on Gluten Free items. I had a gluten free toasted Tuna and Cheese Melt.Good tables with comfy chairs. Plenty of High Chairs kept near the counter. Not expensive food and drinks.Give it a try.

Pre-booked Sunday lunch. Nice place - layout mix of dedicated restaurant space and 'by the bar' tables. Bar set up for live music. Menus provided and specials mentioned, although to see these involved a walk back into the main restaurant area.Drinks order taken (after being advised that various wines on the list were out of stock). Food order taken. Half an hour later, we were still waiting for drinks to arrive. We called the floor manager over who, without apology. pointed out that the bar was busy (only person serving). Bit surly.Drinks finally arrived. Wines good but the pint of lime and soda ordered arrived as a half pint. First courses arrives. One dish is fine, the others unpleasant - smoked salmon and prawns on brioche with horseradish, soggy and mushy. Another 30 minute wait for main course. Traditional Sunday roasts all around - vegetables very good but sat on the table for too long before the 'cavery trolley' arrived. Great portions of meat but served on very small plates, so little room for veggies. Food excellent.Once we were ready we requsted the bill. Bill arrives. We put payment card on plate with bill and wait. And wait. Eventually e wave at a passing waiter and try and give hime the bill and payment card. He takes it, puts it down and clears all out glasses. Time passes. A second waiter comes with the bill. We explain we have the bill but want to pay. Finally, a third waiter attends and takes payment from the card.Having eaten at the excellent The Bell at Sapperton nr. Cirencester the previous weekend, the difference in service standards at the Halfway was stark. For Sunday lunch the Halfway Inn offers pleasant but inexperienced waiters, under-staffed bar, slight surliness from floor manager, a mix of poor and excellent food and long waits between ordering and receiving drinks and food courses.Won't be rushing back...

A well frequented pub at the bottom of Brimscombe Hill. Modest sized car park for visitors, but a friendly welcome by the hosts.
