As soon as I walked in I realised this place had the feel of the Cosy Club chain of restaurants. Pictures all over the walls, mostly portraits, a very young team of staff, and a slight atmosphere of contrived cosiness. Really busy though, so obviously very popular, and there is at least the superficial snugness of a Victorian coffeehouse. I ordered a latte, which was mediocre - it arrived in less than a minute after ordering, which led me to believe that perhaps its preparation had been a little slap-dash. The waitress seemed pleasant enough, if a little vacant, so I would guess the coffee-making training had been insufficient, rather than a careless attitude.

The food was not great at all dripping in fat, it took an hour for our main meal to come after the starter. It wasn’t as if the restaurant was busy. When I said to the staff that the food wasn’t up to there normal standard I was completely ignored used to go there regularly but think we will give it a miss from now on

There were several times. I liked everything. You can buy men's, women's and children's clothes. A wide range of products, reasonable prices. There are always specials on beer, which is a great deal if you're a beer lover. There is parking, McDonald's. You can eat quickly and go shopping 😀

Excellent food and service. Nothing was to much bother. Fairly busy but staff spent time making sure we were ok and had everything we needed. Came with elderly mum and they were very helpful. Food was excellent and great value for money. Visit often and never had a bad experience. Well done to you all!!

Not the fault of the staff on shift, who were doing their best, but nowhere near enough staff on for a Saturday morning. 30 minute wait to order and 30 minute wait for food isn’t ok.

We visited 10/11/24. Yes it is expensive due to the beautiful location, & as we have visited many times before it is of no surprise. However, we were surprised to see so many tables available inside & out considering it was a Sunday. I ordered drinks, & the order was accepted by unenthusiastic staff. Having not experienced that before, i was surprised. In addition to that, their own brewed ale was not available. Pumps of their own ale turned round, offering not so local ale which was really concerning, considering they are a brewery. Next concern was a staff member coming out trying to hide her tears. She was clearly upset, & a few minutes later, she was seen to leave the pub. Food was ok...clearly microwaved, but tasty. Easy to do a Yorkshire pudding but not so it appeared as minus the air. Desert was Pecan tart & I am guessing this was not homemade as it was good. Would I recommend here...yes at this moment for drinks. Would I return yes...but if only management take a good hard look of what they offered before, & what is offered now. I do hope they look at the reviews & take stock of what needs to be done. It really is a reality check, as each time we have visited, the service & food standards are clearly in decline. Management..please take stock & listen to those who want to return.

We booked for dinner to celebrate our anniversary having last visited a few years ago. We were delighted to have rediscovered this slightly hidden treasure in Exeter! The quality of food, service, atmosphere was amazing and made for a perfect evening. We tried the Christmas menu but the standard a la carte which is updated daily looks lovely too. And of course, there’s an impressive array of wines and other drinks. We look forward to visiting more regularly.

Had a few teething problems in our room, ie tv didn't have volume, yet was sorted straight away albeit with a smaller tv , but we managed to sort the issue so we could actually see the screen, and not use smaller tv 😁 good sized room 1 double 2 singles, but ensuite was a little too small and with nowhere for toiletries, slightly disappointed with layout no bedside table ,my biggest problem was having to smell bad drainage issues in the ensuite which started in the early hours and remained until we checked out,, if you can get a room on top floor as very bad sound proofing being woken up a few times by people above us, talking and walking about , and up and down the stairs and slamming front door which was right next to our door, the pub itself was warm and friendly if you go up to the 1st floor of the riverside they have extra tables and a pool table ,the riverside food was very good , apart from the bacon, to over cooked, also if ordering full English go early as our bacon was very hard, seemed precooked my partner couldn't eat hers, but apart from that , well worth the value we would return.

Went with family for half a day out, was supposed to get some fish n chips on the beach, I'm not even sure on the menu of this place but as soon as I saw CARD ONLY that was it for me. What's wrong with cash? Or did you get offered money to go card only from a certain card company. £10k wasn't it, alledgely. Anyway, regardless, I'm advising to use establishments that accept GBP in the form of coins and notes. People dont forget!!

I've got to be honest, the hot chocolate looked very very light in colour and tasted very very weak..... Sat in here almost on our own for 30 minutes before working out that we actually had to order at the table rather than having a waitress or waiter...... Let's be honest, they only have one thing to do. Serve coffee, ice cream and puddings. You would have thought they would have a more snappy service and a happy attitude at the till....... Answer bringing my hot chocolate to the table. It would slam down with such force that after the chocolate covered the table. See pictures...... I really couldn't recommend this place at all.
