Patisserie Valerie in Swindon

Went to pick up a cake today. Paid for in advance. The shop has CLOSED DOWN with no contact details available, no way of getting a refund and the phone number for head office has been closed down!

Great sandwiches and lovely cakes only let down by the innapropriate drum and bass music and staff that don't smile even when you thank them!! No please or thank you at all. Prompt service sadly missing any customer service skills and tables not being cleared quickly enough.

We tried to have lunch on Sunday but we're told they were not taking orders for hot food due to power cuts. The power cuts if you could call them that literally lasted for a nano second, the lights barely dimmed. Every other food outlet in the Swindon outlet center was serving hot food and we had no trouble ordering food elsewhere. I can only put this down to lazy staff jumping on an opportunity not to do their jobs and fob customers off with a lame excuse.

We thought the PV brand was long gone, but to our surprise, the world famous afternoon tea loves on. Very warm welcome from the team and the outside seating area was clean and well kept. Thanks to Skye (snazzy piercings !) for the advice on the online discount vouchers (and how to download the voucher!!!) that ended with an upsell on additional cakes to take away afterwards. Afternoon tea was just how we remembered it - perfectly prepared and served with great finesse. The ideal finish to a day's retail therapy from a team that know how to look after their customers 👍👍👍

Awful. Every single table needed to be cleared & wiped. Not a single clean table to sit down on, I complained to the staff who were completely uninterested & kept telling me they'd been "busy". Don't bother coming here unless you want to feel like you are a burden to the staff & are happy to clear & wipe your table first. Much nicer places to go & have a coffee in.

I was so disappointed with the smashed avocado. For nearly £12, I expected more than the almost nonexistent smear of avocado presented to me one one piece of sourdough toast. The handful of raw spinach on the side was also completely irrelevant. I left hungrier than when we arrived. Thumbs down!

Awful! Drinks arrived promptly then had to wait 45 minutes for the afternoon tea to arrive, so our teas were finished and it's not like there was nothing to cook! Went a few weeks ago and had 4 scones, this time 2.... when I enquired why there was less this time round I was met with a shrug of the shoulders. Sandwiches from a supermarket would have beaten our offering, very poor service, very disappointed, don't burger with their afternoon tea!

Went for afternoon tea for 2 and I have to say the service was poor and the food was disappointing too. The servers seemed moody and not very friendly and we had a small amount of clotted cream and Jam for 4 scones. Also was disappointed with literal cucumber sandwiches. I know it’s a thing but come on… bread, butter and cucumber!! I think they could do much better.

Absolutely shocking customer service, ordered through Uber eats delivery was left in an industrial estate no where near my house and the staff wouldn't do anything to help resolve it, Patisserie Valerie choose to use Ubereats but when the delivery isn't made they don't want to know, never go back!

Visited for a quick coffee and brunch. No real service just told to find a table ourselves. Table was dirty, took ages to get it cleaned. Ordered eggs Royale and fish finger brioche. Food was ok quality, chips under-done and the eggs were over done . Ordered through QR code on table, cheeky to offer 20% off first order and then add automatic 10% tip which doesn't go to the staff or unaware if they get it , would be nice to have an option for the service charge so the customer can add at their discretion.

Others have written much about Patisserie Valerie. It’s in an outlet village so prices will always be on the high side irrespective of quality, that’s the way it goes, for older people? Not very good.

The intention was to have a nice treat, to finish our shopping trip. This place has not heard of any kind of service. From the staff serving, to their customer service at head office. This place expects everyone to queue in the same queue. So if you want to eat in you have to join the queue with customers buying cakes to take away. Not a problem if you pay for the food and take it on a tray to your table. Not here! You get barked at for a table number. So you fight your way through all the people queuing to the seating area. Find a table number, you cannot even sit and decide what to have as there are no menus on the tables. Once you have a table number, return to the back of the queue to finally get to order. Once done, sit and wait. When the food and drinks eventually arrive expect missing items. Expect them not to arrive shortly as promised by the waitress ( she becomes invisible after bringing food to the table). So join the queue again to get the food you have paid for and have now queued three times for! Might I add the cakes were past their best and the smoothie was watery! Not really worth the money or the queuing time. I didn't want to queue again to voice my complaints. So I contacted their customer service department. Their response, I should of raised this with staff at the time! Obviously customer services need to revisit Janet and John to enable them to read customer complaint emails! Staff were invisible, food was terrible, I didn't experience any customer service. Positives to take from this experience, try the brownie shop by the food court. We wish we had!

The women on the counter was very rude. We were rudely asked to go and get the table number. When we forgot initially to tell her that we are vegetarian and told her just a minute later, she retorted I told you to tell me if you have any dietary restrictions. I will never go to this shop again.

We were given a voucher as a Birthday present, we are both retired and we are not in too much of a hurry ,but the service was sooooo slow we waited and waited,,,,, then the tea and coffee arrived before the main event which was afternoon tea, by the time we had finished our pot of tes and coffee the main event had still not arrived i asked for another tea which i had to pay for NO complimentary offer made ? and we were told the sandwitches were just being put on a plate ! then we only had to wait another 10 minutes before they arrived at our table !!! very poor service , and we will not be returning.

Mixed reviews so I wasn’t sure what to expect but the food is quite good and healthier than most quick food options around town. I mean, we have so many fast food junk food or fried whatever shops now more than ever that it is a breath of fresh air to find a place like this one that offers options other than fry ups. Service fine. Food good. Pricing average. I’ll always pay for better food. I mean, this is not a gourmet place, but at least some variation amongst the norm and I am glad I ignored the bad reviews.

Rude upon arrival and told us to just sit down and order ourselves. For eggs Benedict and a simple pastry to be served to us it took 40 minutes and me having to go and get my own food. Tea had gone cold by then. Awful service don’t bother going there.

Bitter disappointment. Rude, antagonistic. Not accommodating in anyway. We bought a voucher for Christmas for a tea for 2 with sandwiches and cakes. We rang in advance to make them aware of allergies and we were told, tough there is no alterations to the preset sandwich trays. When we arrived the sandwiches couldn't be swapped so we couldn't eat them. The scones were burnt and were told 'that's how they arrive'. We decided to buy a baguette as everything else was inedible. Baguette was priced at £6.50 which is a lot for a ham baguette, but then was charged an extra £2 to eat the damn thing at the table we were already sat with the inedible food. An absolute joke. Which shop can say we don't make alterations for allergens?

We were given a gift voucher for afternoon tea for two. Lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes, and it was a bonus to find out we had unlimited tea and coffee too. The latte is highly recommended! Staff were friendly and very polite, nothing too much trouble. Well worth a visit as other food coming from the kitchen looked amazing as well

Arrived at Patisserie Valerie Swindon outlet - no instructions on ordering at table or till butnit didn’t matter as the QR ordering system wasn’t working. Very few customers - no queue to order. Ordered one traditional and one large traditional breakfast. And 30 minutes later had to ask where our food was - was told it was in a queue. As we were the only people who were ordering food at the time we arrived this is questionable. Had ordered an English breakfast tea which was supposed to be loose leaf but turned out to be a teabag. Food finally arrived 40 minutes after ordering. For £12 I expect more than one cocktail sausage, two small pieces of bacon - lots of beans though. Probably because they are cheap. Some of the food was warm - the rest cold. The staff don’t seem interested in serving their customers. we did stop going to patisserie Valerie because the food and service was poor - will definitely not be coming back.

What a disappointment having visited here many times before. Staff walking about and around eating area not speaking to customers. Had to search for a menu. Ordered a full English breakfast and eggs Benedict. The eggs were supposedly poached they were cold and looked as though they had been boiled hard. We visited yesterday and although the restaurant was busy we were seated quickly and had our order taken by a pleasant female staff member. However, she then appeared to leave or go on a break and we were completely forgotten about. After 45 minutes we hadn’t received any drinks or food, our table had not been wiped and no cutlery was brought. The remaining staff members seemed to be doing their best to avoid the customers and so eventually we just got up and left as it was clear that for whatever reason, we weren’t going to get served. What was frustrating was that other tables were getting their orders and at no point did any staff members ask why we had been sat there for so long with nothing on the table! We did speak to the manager to say that we were leaving but all we got was a brusque ‘sorry’, with not even an offer to attempt to bring our order. We have used this branch of Patisserie Valerie before but we won’t bother again.

We have eaten here before and were surprised and pleased to find it was still open. Waited 10 minutes to be seated (3 adults & 1 high chair) as tables had not been cleared. Waited another 10 minutes to order and then waited over 1 HOUR for a couple of toasties, 1 baguette which was over cooked and eggs florentine which was undercooked...we were told there would be a 40min wait for food but if we’d known we’d have to wait over an hour we would not have ordered. 15min before food arrived we were told there were no fries but we could have a cake instead which was very good but we’d practically lost the will to live by that point. Also they had run out of ice cream for toddler meal so she basically made do with a bit of melted cheese in some hard and inedible toast and a strawberry cake. Waiter was obviously very stressed and doing his best but we won’t visit again.

Left waiting at the table for ages only to be told we could not order breakfast until 10am really 10am! It was a Saturday shops opened at 9am and Valeries opened - no information until we were ready to order! It seems this chain is a bit hit and miss - some are brilliant some sadly less do

I understand that it is a busy time of year especially being within an outlet centre. It was very busy on our arrival to the cafe, there were 2 young members of staff serving and looked rushed off their feet as they were serving customers. Tables were left covered in dishes from customers that had already left and dishes were also sighted in the walkway towards the kitchen. I had to call someone over to order our food and drinks. We then waited for 45 minutes before our drinks arrived - these were luke warm on arrival. If we had ordered hot food I would have understood the wait however we ordered 2 scones and a custard slice. I cancelled the food order telling the staff that we had waited for over 45 minutes, there was no apology for the delay. The member of staff said he would need to ask his manager to deduct this from the bill. The manager came over and did this but said nothing to me or offered no apology for the poor service.

Lovely breakfast which unfortunately was cold before I got half way through it. Nice service and good food can’t compensate for being freezing throughout the whole experience.

Had afternoon tea here on 17th Nov. It was ok but not the best i've had. Bread was a bit stale as we're the scones but it was edible.Couldn't eat the cakes so they gave us a box so we could take them with us

Decided to visit again for cream tea (as we enjoyed it so much) but couldn’t believe how much the cakes had decreased in size since our last visit a few weeks ago. A bit greedy of them! It was also very cold sat on the edge of the restaurant with the windows above.

So very disappointed with our breakfast we chose the brioche toast wit banana and maple syrup. At the price of £8 per portion this is the smallest breakfast I have ever been given it had one tiny slice of brioche. We should have gone for the English breakfast much better value as triple the size. This has definitely put me off ever going there again. The nearby other chain restaurant offered 3 pancakes banana and blueberries for nearly the same price. A pot of tea was also £3 per person just not good value

Where to start? I had often got Birthday cakes from Patisserie Valerie in Covent Garden and always been very happy with their cakes and service. I had never had a Afternoon Tea though. I was part of a group of 10 at the Swindon branch. All ordering Afternoon teas. The services was painfully slow. The tables were left cluttered throughout our time there. The hot drinks arrived some 15mins before the food. Now the food. The finger sandwiches were actually the width of a finger. Some found the quiche to have a soggy bottom. Some found the sandwiches dry or wet (as though put on a wet plate) The Scones were dry and barely any fruit. i would imagine they were not fresh that day. The tiny cakes nothing special. I would also mention they have no loo. You have to use the centres loo which is some minutes walk away. Having looked forward to Afternoon Tea at Patisserie Valerie i was so disappointed. It felt like a poor franchise. There are so many places these days offering Afternoon Teas at a competitive price. I would recommend anyone to try elsewhere.

Sunday afternoon cream tea. Was not holding out for a great experience if i am honest.

Ordered cream tea for two, tea arrived with loose tea leaves not bags which was nice and a fresh warm scone with clotted cream and jam. Good value at £7:95

We arrived at 1215 hrs and asked if we could order at the til but were told to take a seat and someone would be over to take our order . There were ten people in the restaurant 8 of which were already eating . We waited and waited for fifteen minutes until a bleach blonde waiter came over and took our order . We only asked for a scone and a cup of tea also a soft drink . After waiting a further 18 minutes without seeing anyone we decided to just go . We did try to get someone’s attention but nobody was around. If you want a snack and a brew in the outlet village try somewhere else.

We stopped here for a coffee and scone while shopping. The Cream Tea for 2 (with decaf coffee not tea) was good value and served efficiently.

Busy little cafe. Great service and delicious food. You can not eat here and not get a cake either to eat in or take away.

Me and my friends had found this place on Groupon. All of us had a range of drinks, sandwiches, scones and cakes. The food was lovely, the people serving were friendly and gave us time to catch up not hurrying us out as we were there for quite a while.

Restaurant was very clean and tidy made my visit very comfortable and pleasing. Table service was very quick and efficicent. Desserts were fantastic and enjoyed my experience.

I really like Patisserie Valerie, nice for lunch or for a delicious sweet treat. I particularly like their chocolate eclairs or a slice of scrumptious strawberry gateaux. Thee sandwiches and light lunches are also good and well presented.

I visited Patisserie whole at the Swindon Designer Outlet. I ordered smashed avocado on thick toast. Unfortunately it appeared the kitchen staff weren’t aware of what was being offered on their menu. When it arrived, the avocado was smeared quite thinly on one slice of thin white toast, with the other slice of toast sitting bare beside. I queried it, which resulted in kitchen staff coming out to check the menu. It was ok but not u to the usual standard of snaked avo. The waitress was nice and gave me a small discount. However I wouldn’t recommend it.

We stopped here for lunch whilst in the outlet. We decided to have the afternoon tea for two which was £20 with our emergency service discount it went down to £18!

Enjoyed our afternoon high tea, sandwiches were lovely, cakes were delicious as were the scones with cream and jam, we even had a choice of a lovely cake each to take home, service was excellent.

if you are a connaisseur of french patisserie, then don't go. The deserts are heavy, with thick pastry and they pretend to do french patisserie with their frencj name. Absolute NO go And very expensive to top it up.

Lovely Coffee and cakes - a top place for the cakes and gateaux at the high end. Beautifully made cakes to eat in or take home.

4 coffees were excellent but in todays world you have to go a long way to get a bad coffee in a coffee shop. Unusually they only do 1 size, fine for us but may put some people off. We had a small custard tart, pain au raisin and two lots of toast which were all good and plenty of butter with the toast which is always annoying when there is not enough. £21 in total so not cheap but I guess they never are now. Was a bit cold in December but overall good. Staff were attentive and friendly.

Visited on a Saturday in October with 2 friends. We all chose the brunch meal. Service was excellent. Food was well presented and delicious. Will certainly visit again.

I went to Patisserie Valerie a couple of days ago for my birthday and I have to admit that I couldn't have chosen a better place!

I visited here with my daughter on Sunday afternoon. It was quite busy but there were a few tables still unoccupied. We were waiting around 20 minutes for a waitress to come over and take our order. When she arrived we gave her our drinks order and our food order. Our drinks were brought out after around 10 minutes. Another 20 minutes went by and we still had not had our food, we only ordered sandwiches. When they did finally arrive around 30 minutes after ordering them only one sandwich came out and it was toasted which we had specifically asked for them not to be. The manager saw us looking and came over to ask if everything was ok. We told her that we had ordered the sandwich to be not toasted and that we were still waiting for another to arrive. She took the sandwich away (no apology was given) and said she would get another. By this time I had had enough and was ready to go and tell them we would pay for our drinks but that we didn't want our sandwiches but just as we were ready to go both sandwiches arrived, they weren't toasted but the bread was very warm and soggy. We really should have complained but by this time I just wanted to eat them and go as we had an appointment to get to. So all in all the service and the food was poor, it also cost us £26 for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks. We will not be returning again.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm, it was quiet although we probably just missed rush hour cause the staff was resetting a lot of tables. We sat near a waitress setting tables and were completely ignored. Asked to have some menus and had to wait quite a bit to order considering there were maybe 10 tables in total and 2 waiters on the floor plus other 2/3 behind the counter. We had the Valerie cream tea, got our tea fairly quickly but then they completely forgot about our scones (I know they forgot because I used to work at another branch of PV and know for a fact that all it takes is 20 sec in the microwave to warm the scones up), they only turned up after I asked the staff about them. Irritating thing was they seemed to have enough time for a laugh but not to check in on their tables. One of the good things of table service is that the staff comes to you but after waiting for everything else else we decided to not wait for the bill at the table and we walked up to the till. A waiter was there letting another couple pay, the couple walked off with their change and so did the waiter, completely ignoring us. So we walked up to the till at the counter and paid. I remember what busy shifts are like and it’s not easy to maintain a smile on your face at all times. All we would have been fine with was an apology for the wait
