Excellent meal as always. Starters – ox cheek and fishcake – were exceptional. Generous and very tasty. For mains, we had the lamb rump and shoulder and the chicken supreme. Both very, very good. Great choice of wine by the glass.

Stunning lunch, with exceptional service on a sunny Saturday. Lovely 2 course lunch in the garden. Amazing flavours. Will definitely be back.

Really enjoyed our early evening meal in this restaurant. We’ve been before but not for a while. We sat in a quirky arched area with just us on the one table, we liked this. The food was tasty, service good, red wine by the glass was excellent. By the time we left it was busy and had a nice atmosphere.

Having researched all the fine dining options in Exeter this restaurant caught my eye, and when we visited it certainly lived up to expectations. The menu had plenty to appeal but I was particularly happy with the ribeye of pork which I chose as the main course. The selection of vegetables was superb, and every element of the dish was well crafted. Clearly there is a great deal of expertise in the kitchen. Service was professional and friendly but not over fussy. It made for a delightful evening, and I can't wait to make a return visit.

Have visited this independent restaurant several times now and have always had the most outstanding food and service. Every dish I have had has been delicious - fresh, seasonal and unique. Highly recommended.

Been here a few times & each time it impresses. Monday lunch is limited in Exeter from independent operators so Rendevous is a must & you should avoid the grey chains on offer elsewhere in Exeter. Really great wine list (order the Pieropan if only as an aperitif.) & food that offer flavour combinations & variety that work from a Chef who obviously knows their stuff. Bravo.

A hidden gem. We came here for Dinner during a city break in Exeter. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The food was top quality; we enjoyed rack of lamb particularly. The wine list is interesting and well selected and prices are not over the top. We had a great Ribera del Duero with the lamb, and it was from an exceptional vintage. It looks like someone really knows what they are doing when putting this list together. Access from the front is a challenge if you are very unsteady on your feet, however we did discover a much easier way in round the back with just a few steps and a solid handrail.

Lived in Devon for over 10 years, and had heard about Rendezvous but had never been until last night for the first of many visits. Perfectly relaxed service with attention to detail and friendly advice. Enjoyed the Lyme Bay fizz and dry white while the food was exquisite. My mouth waters thinking about the Banana Tarte Tatin. Fantastic to be served by the owner with her warm smile and knowledge of the food and wine. Look forward to returning.

Went with friends. Wine list excellent. Had local fizz and white. Meal superb. Lots of flavours on each plate. Also enjoyed dessert which I normally pass on. Gemma the owner was serving and was a great host. Would recommend.

We took a chance on Rendevous, even though the website is pretty poor and only showed the valentine's day menu. We'd spotted the wine bar on a wander around Exeter, and had hoped it would, at the very least, have a lovely glass of wine. It didn't disappoint. We ate expertly cooked scallops with crushed peas, and a smoked salmon starter, followed by the pork dish and a lamb dish. It was all very beautiful to look at and to taste. Finally, banana tarte tatin was enjoyed by two of us, and a very generous glass of sweet dessert wine (black muscat). The wine list was good, and we thoroughly enjoyed our shiraz, and the beer was also cold and appreciated. We'd like to return, and enquired about bringing a vegan diner with us - which the restaurant would be happy to accommodate if we mention it at booking. I'd be willing to take a punt on them making our vegan feel just as delighted with the food as we were. Really lovely atmosphere, nice size tables, and while it was busy it was still easy to enjoy our own conversation easily. The staff were also very welcoming and took care of us very well, and we look forward to returning. 10/10

So last year we attended for our first date nite food was always amazing and also had been before with friends. On the 13 th of February myself and my partner went for out anniversary dinner and personally felt the food wasn't up to the usual standard. The lamb advertisted as broadclyst lamb was clearly not as I know the farmers in broadclyst it was from mackro . The scallops were not cooked very well .only thing I actually enjoyed was being with my partner and the wine.. definitely changed from what it was before left dissatisfied and I'm not one too complain but sorry standard's have massively dropped

Been going to rendezvous for some time now. Great for all occasions. Great food, great wine and Gemma and the team are fab. Do go and visit.

Had a lovely work Christmas party at Rendezvous, you really do get what you pay for, really high quality, delicious and well thought out food. The flavours were just incredible- highly recommend!!

We were booked for 1.15, we came a little early and expected to sit and drink for a while but…..no-one came to take our food order until 1.40. The meze plate was good, but only a small amount (about one tablespoonful) of hummus. I had salmon, turned out to be a very small piece (less than 100gms I’d estimate). Also a miserly amount of sauce. The vegetables were very good and nicely cooked. The desserts were great. So altogether not as good as last time I ate here.

Excellent ! We went there for lunch and the food was truly amazing. We had the fish for main an a delicious chocolate ganache to follow. Service was excellent as well.

Our time at Rendezvous was amazing. The place feels cosy and is very welcoming. The staff were really nice and helped us pick great wines for our meal. The steak was super tasty, and the cheese board was a treat. They know how to make things special, even the music and decor. If you want a really lovely meal out that feels cosy with really good food and wine, this is the spot. Totally recommend it for a great time with delicious eats and drinks!

It was my first visit to Exeter and I went to this restaurant with an old friend. The owner was very welcoming and friendly from the outset. We had a really nice table under the window, an excellent champagne, and three courses each. The food was of a high standard and coupled with the warmth of the owner, it made for an exceptional experience.

RENDEZVOUS Wine Bar is somewhat hard to find, but well worth the effort....upmarket, expensive and certainly NOT a casual tourist venue It has an extensive selection of quality wines and spirits and the food is excellent too The staff are professional, knowledgeable and interested to talk about wine selection This is a fine establishment and has become one of my absolute favourite bars

The service was very good, but that's as far as it goes. Warm prosecco which we didn't finish even asked for some orange juice to make it taste better but didn't help. Starters where okay, main course was dreadful. Asked for my steak blue and it was basically medium. My partner's duck was basically ice cold in the middle. It's a shame this used to be one of the best places to eat in Exeter but sadly won't be returning. 150 pound bill and we got McDonald's on the way home. Garden is lovely and it's a beautiful place but the food is really not good.

Ambience and setting is lovely, and the front of house staff are very nice - personable and amusing as well as efficient. Food is truly excellent, all 3 courses and we tried a fair few different dishes. Particularly enjoyed the lamb but honestly even the simpler dishes like arancini were surprisingly good. Wine was also excellent, and the grappa. Not a cheap night but you won't regret it!

Rendezvous is a restaurant that has it all; ambience and character combined with exceptional food with a great wine list. I have to make myself use other great Exeter restaurants to vary the experience. 3rd time this month.

A few years since I have visited and I felt the food is not so good, attention to detail was lacking and it has become quite expensive. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Overall the food was excellent and the waiting staff were charming BUT The spinach and cheeses ravioli was tasteless and the pasta far too thick The gazpacho tasted fine but was a peculiar earthy brown colour. Not sure how they managed that. Could do better!!!!

I have been in England for two weeks on a business trip and came to Exeter to meet with some colleagues. They brought me here to this wine bar tonight, and I was blown away. Not only was Gemma, the owner, absolutely delightful, but the wine list is outstanding and the food is divine. Without doubt one of the best culinary experiences I have ever had in England. It was pouring with rain when we left and the owner lent us her umbrella, and asked us to drop it back tomorrow! How many owners of restaurants do that these days? They have a lovely garden for when the weather is nice and a delightful, cozy interior for regular dining. It was very busy on a Monday night, and I can understand why. Very good indeed - do not miss coming here! You will not regret it!

A spur of the moment decision and what a great one, From the moment you arrive you suspect this is good choice.Simple but wide menu ( need to mark up for allergies a bit better and have more GF puddings but a small point) - which is communicated well and results in some of the best food we have eaten... yes some of the best. My lamb was amazing as was the service ( friendly but not intrusive) - all round a great night out - not the cheapest but you get quality so definitely VFM

Lovely find in Exeter. Beautiful inside with low lighting, brickwork and beams; a proper cellar bar. We only stopped for wine but it was exceptional: I had the Italian Pinot Grigio, and my husband had French Bordeaux. Glanced at the menu and we will absolutely be coming back. And we're delighted to hear that they're dog friendly too when booking ahead! Hope to be back asap.

A truly awesome hidden gem in the heart of Exeter. Only discovered this place a month ago, but now cannot get enough of the place. Excellent food, fabulous drinks and friendly, gorgeous and happy staff. Just don’t spread the work too much!

This was such a great lunchtime treat. I am coeliac / gluten free and even though it all looked friendly I couldn’t have envisaged how accommodating and helpful the staff would be. It was an absolute dream - and the food was excellent. The wine was lovely too. Absolutely recommend coming here for a special meal - it won’t disappoint.

We popped in for a drink to be met with two amazing young ladies who were super helpful !talked us through the wine and offered us a seat in the reception area as they were fully booked. We had a lovely meal at Rendezvous on 6 July - nice welcome despite the fact we were very early! We started with a couple of glasses of Primitivo and then moved onto a bottle of Romanian Pinot Noir which was good. The table was large and free of the normal clutter you get in most restaurants.! We decided to have a shared 'nibbles dish' of Charcuterie and bread , rather than a normal starter - and that was very tasty. We then moved onto the Broadclyst lamb rump, which when cooked 'pink' was excellent. Service was very good and was attentive and pleasant. We finished with a chocolate tort and a dark chocolate mousse with a couple of glasses of Rutherglen dessert wine , and a couple of coffees. We ha a great time and the food was excellent, and the great service made it a wonderful evening for us. We are already planning to go back for another birthday celebration with 2 friends

Had been here for first time 2 years ago and was incredibly impressed , return visit delayed by lockdown . Went there with my husband, on very quiet night, we didn’t get very good greeting from the lady behind the bar, she was talking on the phone and she completely ignore us, restaurant is very tired with many broken chairs….No ambition, is look like you sitting in dark cave Food was below average, nothing exciting on menustoo expensive and not worth it.Never go back again.Sorry

This was our second visit here and the first time we thought it was excellent. This time it wasn’t quite as good. The starters were fine but my main course went a bit strange. I ordered the sea bream and the fish was fine but it came with an odd selection of vegetables as if they’d run out and panicked at the last moment! The tomato element was literally a quartered, raw, unripe tomato!Hopefully it was a one off as I’d like to go back!

Shame the food and service wasn’t up to the usual standard pre-covid. Our starters were nice, we both had steak for main, although the steak itself was lovely the chips had that burnt oil taste when the oil needs changing. I very politely told the waitress (I don’t like to complain) she informed me she would let the kitchen know but there was no apology. The service wasn’t great, although the staff were friendly, we were a little forgotten about, kept having to ask to order more drinks and when we did order them they didn’t come and we had to ask where they were, my partner waited 45 minutes for a pint of beer. It’s a lovely place to go for a treat but for the price you would expect better service and food. Fortunately we have been numerous times so hopefully this is just a one off, we will be back.

Booked for Saturday lunch to celebrate our anniversary. First time we have eaten out since lockdown eased. The staff are always very pleasant and helpful. The lunch menu is interesting and there are plenty of options to meet most tastes. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, service attentive without being intrusive, the food is outstanding and beautifully presented and the wine list complemented the menu perfectly. We both scored it a 10/10 today. Not cheap but great value for money.

Went for dinner Saturday night and had a great time. Thought it was probably just a wine bar with ok food but really pleased to find that the food was superb and good value. So, in a nutshell good knowledgeable service, great quality food and wine, COVID safe and warm ambience. Only tiny point of feedback the cheeseboard was a bit mean on the cheese....great tasting but small portions...come on guys do the cheese like you do everything else which was superb....look forward to being back when we can - very best wishes

I'm a student at the University and had never been here before, I was so so pleasantly surprised! The decor and atmosphere is very romantic and relaxed, we were lucky to get a table on the day thanks to a last minute cancellationThe menu is great, plenty of options, I am coeliac and I was very well looked after and catered for. I had salmon to start and hake for main, such exquisite dishes, couldn't ask for anything more! The wine list is of course remarkable too, we had a bottle of Muscadet which was divine. I will definitely be back, had such a lovely evening - thank you to all the staff for making it such a memorable night.

I went to this wine bar last Friday lunch time and I wasn't disappointed.They have a lunch deal, 2 courses for £20, so I thought I will have a look at the menu. The kitchen cooks a variety of reasonable sized dishes and I decided to have a starter and maincourse.The starter I had was Hogs Pudding, Black Pudding with crispy scotch egg, as for the main I had a dish consisting of pork tenderloin, pork belly mustard mash, kale, broccoli and jus. Both of these menu choices were cooked well and presentation was spot on. The wines were a delight covering most of the globe, I had 1/2 bottle of French muscadet and later on after the meal I had a glass of Romanian pinot noir.The service was very attentive and both the waiting staff and kitchen staff should give themselves a pat on the back.

We visit Exeter about once a year and always eat at Rendezvous. Another fantastic meal. Food beautifully prepared, a great wine list. The service and welcome always very warm. Very many thanks.

Went here about 3 years so wanted to try it again and wasn’t disappointed, they have all the right precautions in place for you to enjoy a great meal, from the time that we walked in til the time we left the staff very polite, informative and efficient, the quality of food was exceptional and well priced, this restaurant is a great example of how to ride out difficult times as a business and be in a strong position to thrive when times get better.
