Seven of us called for a quick tea and cakes following a walk. We had to sit out in the garden as the cafe was busy. We moved the tables and chairs ourselves and then had to go into the cafe to make our order. It took over half an hour for 4 scones and 3 pieces of cake to be delivered, in fits and starts, to our table. The teas and coffees were brought out first but were cold by the time the scones were finally delivered. There were no apologies for the delays despite our having to ask several times where the scones were. To add insult to injury, a 25% service charge was put on our bill, which we had paid at the point of ordering. When asked about this we were told it was on the menu, more than 6 people incurred this extra charge but no mention was made when we were ordering. On leaving nobody thanked us for our custom or any apologies for the poor service. So we each paid a 25% service charge for absolutely no service. Be warned.

My uncle Nick flew over from Australia and took both me and my parents to this patisserie in Lilliput. My dad said he had the best latte he had ever tasted, and I think both the sausage rolls and the brownies were absolutely delicious!! I highly recommend - the food is just amazing and the atmosphere of the small patisserie is gorgeous. xx

I have now reached the 56 year mark and after the time I have had since April I value every day far more than I did and take each day as it comes and expect to be taken as I am by others. In all my visits to Exmoor with my parents when I was growing up and when I returned back down with my lovely wife and various dogs over the years we have never been in the White Horse. As we were staying at Court Farm in Snowdrop we took the chance on a filthy night to venture in to the bar at the White Horse. I really liked the set up=looked like church or chapel pews and plenty of country pictures and items on the walls-how it should be. The gentleman serving says Mark on the receipt was a lovely gent pleasant and hosting without any airs or graces-helpful and considerate. Meal wise we had One Trout in Almonds served with new potatoes and seasonal veg well cooked and well presented and One Flat Iron Steak cooked medium which again was very well cooked and well presented. Managed one sticky toffee pudding and one raspberry brulee washed down with Guiness and Exmoor ale, the waiting staff were pleasant and effecient and the chef has an odd sense of humour but having come from that background I enjoyed that. Excellent meal in wonderful surroundings

Stopped off at the Crooked Inn for a one night dinner, bed and breakfast whilst in Cornwall. Very convenient for the A38, we found the Crooked Inn to be friendly and welcoming. Dinner (for 4 adults) in the popular bar was excellent, with a very good choice of dishes. The choice of cooked meals at breakfast was particularly fresh and well prepared. Room was a decent size, clean, with an excellent king size bed for a great sleep. On a cold night in February, the bathroom radiator was not working - which made the experience rather chilly. Would recommend for a short stay, or to break up a long journey.

This restaurant was NOT busy today when I met a friend for lunch, but, we had to ask no less than 3 times for ketchup and mayonnaise. I even got up from my table and asked a waitress for some, and despite telling me she would bring it straight away, she didn’t. If you want people to return to The Greenhouse, you need to educate your waiting staff in customer support

I feel I should start this by saying the place was quite busy, so it is plainly popular. We were greeted at the bar of this restaurant &, as we hadn't booked, given the choice of a table in the dog friendly section (there were no dogs booked in), or the snug (3 tables just down some steps), we chose the snug....but it wasn't. It was chilly. The young lady offered to bring us some drinks, in hindsight we should have just ordered & taken the pints with us. The drinks took a fair while to be delivered. She then went to get the tablet so we could order food (we'd had plenty of time to choose). Dad had decided on the Ham, Egg & Chips only to be told "sorry, we don't do the ham on Tuesdays. We have our meat delivered in the morning so the ham is being cooked now." I can only presume there is no ham on Monday either 🤷. I ordered the Sausage & Mash (not as simple a dish as it sounds as you can see from the photo's. Too many ingredients in the mash), Dad ended up going for the Hand battered (🤷) Cod & Chips. The food was delivered more promptly than the drinks had been, but tbh was....okay. Judge for yourselves from the pics. Mine was swimming in gravy & the sausages looked like they'd washed up on a beach. The multi veg mash was too runny for my taste. Dad's fish was adequate, but the plate just had too much on it, & why was the salad on a little saucer in the plate? Nothing terribly wrong with much, but we won't be going back, sorry. As I said at the start, it is clearly popular & busy, just not again for us.

Had dinner here last night, great atmosphere and decor. We were greeted by polite and friendly staff. We opted for one of the sharing kebabs, which was absolutely delicious. We also ordered a couple of cocktails, which were also delicious. Our waitress Eloise was only on her second evening of work at the Botanist, although you wouldn't have known this. She was really friendly and attentive, without being pushy. A credit to the team. At 8pm there was a solo musician on his guitar, taking requests which really added to the atmosphere. Cannot fault the restaurant or staff. The only negative were the toilet facilities... these are shared with the bar above the restaurant and OMG they were disgusting! They are unisex and when I used them at just after 9.30pm they were full of drunk people shouting and swearing... the sink in the cubicle was full of vomit and there were four drunk men loitering inside the doorway.

I had booked the wrong wheatsheaf I( relised as I arrived) they couldn't of been any better and more helpfull to fit us in. The service by the gentleman behind the bar was great. The food was incredible the chef even took time out to come and ask us about the sauce and how we would like it even after we finished he came out to make sure we were happy with our meals. Honestly can not recommend this place enough! We had the burgers and the prok chops with the chips with a twist and it was bloody lovely!!! Will be visiting again but will make sure I book the right place this time 🤣😊

Very quaint little cafe at the Valley of Rocks, with absolutely gorgeous scenery. They sell an incredible selection of homemade pies, we shared a piece of the blackcurrant and a piece a piece of the cherry, and they were both delicious. Sadly the day we went had gale force winds and we had to hide in our car to eat our pie, but well worth it nonetheless.
