WE HAD 2 DINNERS WHICH WERE EXCELLENT ,QUICK AND VERY TASTY . I HAD CHICKEN AND MY WIFE HAD FISH AND CHIPS . I HAD 2 PINTS OF 3BS AGAIN GREAT .

The pub was virtually empty when we arrived for a lunch which was NOT pre-booked. Was shown to a table which was not in a very good position, a bit cramped and dark so we found ourselves another table in the same area. Waited quite a long time (5 minutes) before anyone came to see us and take our order for drinks. No mention at that time of the food order. Drinks came after a few minutes and we then asked a couple of questions about the items on the menu, the waitress didn't know the answers and had to go to ask. After we had ordered we must have waited 10 - 15 minutes before the food was served. Presentation was not the best and one dish had vegetables which were cold and hardly cooked. No one came to ask if everything was ok until after about 10 minutes so by then it was not possible to have the vegetables attended to as it was too late. No allowance was made for the uneaten/ uneatable vegetables so had to ask for a discount. This was very difficult to receive a worthwhile amount and we were told the vegetables were "al-dente" and were told they had never had a complaint before. We should have been told this when ordering, they were NOT cooked properly. The manager was very unfriendly, we had disturbed her lunch!!!! Will Never ever go back there again. Was going to enquire about booking a room in the hotel for a 3 night stay by some of our visitors in October but no way will that happen. Service was appalling!

I have been on many stay overs in many hotels and this one absolutely beats them all. This place is what defines value for money! The rooms are great, well presented and modern. Everything you need for a quick stay over. The food is unrivalled. You can tell that the chef cares and everything is made with thought. It is delicious, hot and perfectly presented. Breakfast is great, and included in the room price! The team are upbeat and service is spot on. I would love to stay here more (in fact it I will always make it my stop off as often as possible) I absolutely recommend.

Sunday Lunch was so good. There was lots of choice - nothing was overcooked and we had a lovely table - the pub is divided into many smaller areas which is lovely when you are dining with family. Our waitress was very good. We were looked after but not in an intrusive way. My elderly parents are fussy - but they had no complaints.

Seated at our table and a specials blackboard was shown to us. 1 of the party decided to have the Rib Eye steak, I asked what the pie of the day was and was advised it was Beef and Stilton which I then ordered. When the food arrived my pie was chicken pie and the Beef Ribeye turned out to be a Pork Ribeye. We were not made aware of the change in flavour of pie. I spoke to the waitress who was told that the beef pie had run out and the chicken pie was replacing it. No one from the kitchen advised the waitress. My friend who had ordered the beef Rib eye then realised it was pork. He mentioned this to the waitress and she wasn’t very apologetic just said she would remove the round of drinks from the bill (there was only two drinks ordered) We ate the food which in fairness was good. We asked for the bill and the drinks hadn’t been removed. All in all not a great experience and one I won’t be repeating! White Hart you need to get your act together and serve people what they order!

As a vegetarian I was disappointed at the relative lack of choice on the menu . I asked for a vegetable curry but asked if I could have rice instead of potato. It did come with a slice of nan bread, but I was surprised to be charged the same price as the chicken curry. The vegetables were overcooked and I will not visit again.

Popped in for the Sunday Carvery. Not the best I’ve ever had, probably on a par with a Toby…. Good points, quiet seating area away from the main bar, beer is a sensible price but not served quite as Mr Arkell would have liked imho, but not bad. A reasonable selection of veg but the roasties weren’t crispy which was a shame. There seems to be seating for families on the other side of the bar which is good for those who want it but I guess they went elsewhere as the carvery was very quiet. I much better pub than I remember when I lived here 25 years ago but a very average plate of food today. The waitresses were very good and this place definitely has potential. If the queue isn’t 10 people deep at 1pm for a Sunday carvery then something is not quite right.

Four of us had good meals ,three had jacket potatoes with various fillings .One had Ciabatta with bacon, brie etc and two portions of chips total £50 with drinks as well .All the meals were hot and tasty and good sized portions.

Very good stay, spacious room with comfortable bed and good shower. Breakfast was included, plenty of choice and good quality

Lovely carvery, £15.00 per adult and plenty of choice. Service was a little on the slow side for offering more drinks, desserts etc but it was busy and maybe they are short staffed. We will book again for a carvery (had a evening meal last month too but I wasn't keen on the menu, fussy eater).

My husband and I stayed one night at The White Hart (standard dble room) and were pleasantly surprised with our accommodation. The rooms are very large as was the bed and very comfortable and extremely clean. The room was tastefully and contemporarily decorated with good lighting.. Rooms INCLUDED, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, desk fan, table and 2 chairs, full length wall mirror and dressing table with mirror over, luggage rack, plenty of well placed sockets, spacious wardrobe with hangers. The shower room (no bath) was scrupiosly clean and bright, fluffy white towels and hand and shower gel dispensers. Breakfast is preorderd the night before including the time you wish to eat. Breakfast was hot, plentiful and good quality. Only personal downside for me was that I ask for well done bacon, sausage and hash browns but they came out generically (standard). Technical hitch in the evening with tv in room intermittently pixalating but certainly not a deal breaker. Would definitely stay again and would recommend.

What a find we had to stay in Swindon at last minute because 1 of our lizards had to have an operation at Great Western Exotics so a quick google found white hart . It was the best value for the night stay with breakfast included ( which was a little breakfast but incredible quality fantastic breakfast. ) . Room was spacious very comfortable walls a little thin get some noise but didn't disturb us , bathroom fantastic good size lovely walkin shower . Highly recommend this hotel will definitely stay again.

This a conveniently places pub/accommodation just off the motorway. A very friendly pub with good food,cooked breakfast has to be ordered the night before with a help yourself buffet. The rooms are an average size but kept clean. Where it does fall down is the amount of toiletries, certainly not enough for two people and no hand soap. The remote on the TV did not work properly, we then noticed the electrical items in the room had not been pat tested since 3/2019. Unfortunately like a lot of places they are struggling for staff but well done to the ones that are keeping this place going.

Absolutely fabulous restaurant and hotel. Great food, pleasant staff and a bed to die for 🤣 A one night stop over from visiting family in Oxford then onto Devon , could have stayed longer.

A first visit for an evening meal with friends and I was not disappointed. We had the squid, and portobello mushroom starters. The chicken curry, ribeye pork steak, pie of the day for mains. The waiting staff were all welcoming and very helpful. We could not fault our meals - they were absolutely delicious! Great to be able to recommend a pub restaurant on my doorstep! 5*

Mrs Moose's cousins had come to visit (one from across the atlantic) and were staying overnight at the White Hart, so it seemed the obvious place for our family meal. We had dishes including burgers and risotto. Everyone enjoyed there meals and their deserts - definitely worth a visit.

We have family in the area so stay here when in the area. The bedrooms are large , with a big walk in shower. The bathroom has shelf space for all our toiletries, unlike a lot of the chain hotels. Breakfast is pre ordered for your arrival in the morning, no buffet, the food is cooked once you are in the breakfast room. The bedroom block is away from the main pub building and is very quiet.

We came for a weekend break and stayed two nights. The accommodation is in a separate block to the pub and seems fairly new. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. A nice walk in shower and white fluffy towels. The bed was large (king size plus) and very comfortable. Decor is pleasant. We were given a menu each night to choose what to have for breakfast the next morning and what time we wanted it. Breakfast is a dedicated space in the bar restaurant. There was a good choice of food, ranging from full cooked breakfast to porridge to eggs benedict, plus cereals, toast, yogurt, fruit etc. on the side. The staff were friendly and helpful. No problems with noise even though it's on a fairly busy road. We would be happy to come back.

Stayed at the white hart and we were really looked after from reception, to bar staff,and the breakfast crew the accommodation was surprisingly comfortable and the apartment had a huge walk in shower the breakfast was excellent and we would definitely stay here again when we come to Swindon thank you for a very special stay

Loved all the little alcoves.Seated promptly and highchair bought straight over without asking. Drinks and food orders taken quickly. Sunday lunch arrived in under 15minutes. Really nice quality. Beef and chicken were well cooked and seasoned. Lovely variety of vegetables and a sizable portion too. Staff were really friendly with us and our two small children. Came here for Sunday lunch on Father’s Day, the service was excellent and the food was amazing !!! Roast beef was cooked to perfection and the veggie sides were amazing. We finished of with sticky toffee puddings and that didn’t disappoint either !!!! Will definitely be back again soon :)

Came here as a table of 3 for dinner and we were extremely disappointed. When we asked the waitress what the darkest ale was, she had no clue and didn’t even think to go and find out. Then asked for water with no ice (arrived with ice). When the food finally arrived, the chips and veg were cold. We told the waitress and she brought fresh chips but didn’t offer to remove the cold ones, so we had to ask for a spare plate. The battered fish was really chewy and not even slightly crispy - really bad for £12. Only positive is the nice children’s chargrilled chicken and juicy gammon, but not good enough to warrant a return or recommendation.

Stayed one night Sunday 30th May. Very informative friendly reception staff. Lovely room in a separate building huge bed, big shower, nice towels and bedding and very clean. We found all the staff in the Inn /bar/restaurant very happy and friendly. Service was quick. Delicious English breakfast in the morning again excellent service. Free parking would highly recommend. Only negative states free WiFi through hotel but we couldn’t get it to work in our room.

First lunch sitting in a restaurant after lockdown. Food cold and had to be sent back, service good. The restaurant is quite big but diners were invited to sit in one area where the tables were too close together for Covid comfort, no change to seating from pre Covid lockdown and we didn’t feel comfortable as there was no ventilation .

Ordered thru just eat. Delivered on time and hot. I had the beef which was cooked lovely and plenty of it, lovely tasting roasters, Yorkshire, stuffing balls and pig in blankets completed the main platter. Wife had chicken so similar food with 2 decent size pieces of chicken. Veg was a little disappointing with very small amounts of carrots, green beans and red cabbage in one tub and cauliflower cheese in another. We don't like red cabbage or cauliflower cheese so not a great deal we could eat.A little expensive especially given the veg we couldn't eat but if ordered again would do some veg at home timed to be done with delivery tho that takes away the point of ordering in.

Met family there yesterday for lunch before lock down again. Food was mediocre we had Carvery beef wos nice a pink in the middle frozen carrots, roast potatoes , yourkshire puddings as well. My brother in law ask one of the waiting staff for some more drinks . Didn’t stop to speak to us just carried on walking and said yes with his back to us . Witch I thought wos rude. I take it he wos the head of waiting staff with is man band in his hair . Think they need some training !!

Absolutely delicious food, lots to choose from on the menu. Service was fabulous nothing is to much to ask for, everyone was really polite. We have been a few times now and will definitely be back soon. 100% recommend!

Menu and food were good, service was ok, not sure about the social distancing measures, whilst you had to book, the tables were not very far apart and it was easy to change tables if they wanted to and it want clear what or wasnt in use. Overall value for money

The accommodation is in a separate building and is of a very good standard and clean with a huge bed. We had lunch and breakfast the following morning which was very good. We attended a party in the function room which was very good and a suitable size. Would stay again .

We’ve just enjoyed yet another great Sunday lunch carvery at The White Hart It was very busy but the staff were very friendly and professional Pub was spotlessly cleanAnd the food was lovely Gammon, Beef and TurkeyChoice of various vegetables and roast and new potatoes, Yorkshire puds and stuffing Great value, definitely will be going back soon

We held a charity quiz in the function room. This was a lovely size for 12 teams of 6 and the room was set up all ready when we arrived, so we had little to do. Ideal to have the separate bar in the room and people could order their own food if required, which was brought to them without interrupting the quiz. Venue was clean and staff were friendly making it a very enjoyable evening for everyone. Highly recommended!

A large group of us visited The White Hart at the weekend and I am sorry to say that the food was awful.I was underwhelmed as soon as I saw the vegetables. Hardly any variety. There was just roast potatoes, carrots, beans, red cabbage, and peas. They all looked awful. You could tell they were just boiled to death with no finesse. Of course it was bland (you boiled the life out of it).The Yorkshire’s were burnt and the stuffing was cremated.The good point is that the meat was good...however the carver cut the slices so thin i asked for more.Overall extremely poor quality.If you want a better roast in Swindon almost every other place I have eaten is better.Even if offered a free meal...I wouldn’t waste my time.Avoid.

Four of us had dinner here. The food is good and the Arkells IPA surprisingly nice as well. It was let down by the wait after we finished our main course. We didn't bother ordering puddings because it took so long. So we asked for the bill and got that quickly. And then waited again. Eventually we gave up and paid at the front desk. On the way there we passed two waitresses chatting and obviously in no hurry to attend to the busy tables. Neither appeared to notice or be concerned that customers had decided to leave. And that is why no tip was left. Shame because the food is good value but we won't be back for a while, and we live within half a mile.

My family arranged for us to meet here for my birthday, 8 adults and 2 children, my daughter booked the table and we arrived on time, we had dinner which was very nice, then we got asked to move off the table despite there being lots of other tables free, and we were not told on booking, that the table was needed again. We were waiting to pay the bill then a very rude man told us to move now . This was very unsetting for me on my birthday.So very disappointed in you.

We normally visit every month or so for a meal. This month we dined here twice in a week. Once with friends and once with family for a 70th birthday. Food, service & ambience great as always.

Went for dinner on 8th Feb 20. 11 people in total. Pre ordered a week before. Nice ambience, good service . The food was delicious. I had Lamb (see pic below ) lovely flavour , well presented. Other meals in our party .. Burgers, Scampi , Fish Cakes , Fish and Chips , Lasange , Ham Egg Chips . All very good , presented well again .Would recommend the food.

Whilst the service was a tad slow in places we didn't mind as the food was very nice indeed. Even my vegan option of butternut squash and coconut curry was very yummy! Will definitely be back again.

We stayed 1 night our room was very nice and safe outside for our car... Breakfast was very good plenty there. The only downside was when we tried to make a drink at 7.30am all our little milk pots of milk were off so couldn't have a hot drink which was a shame but wouldn't put us off booking when we return soon

We have returned twice in the last week (boxing day and new years day lunchtimes ). All the meals were very good 6 on boxing day and 2 on new years day. The staff are very polite and courteous, nothing like the reviews some others had said about the staff. The prices are very reasonable too.

Visited on 23/12 for an Xmas meal with my Daughter. The waiter was unwelcoming and unpleasant, my Daughter described him as 'salty'. We were not offered the Xmas menu. The meagre festive decoration in our part of the restaurant was an old holly garland draped over the cold fireplace. The wine was very poor indeed and tasted more like a spritzer. The starters were poor, a pate with cold toast straight out of a packet and a dish of humous with olives. The humous was ok but the olives sad little things past their best. The bread was weird horrid processed junk, surely it's worth paying a few more pence for nice fresh crusty bread!! We left after starters as we guessed that with the attitude of our waiter and the quality of the food that the evening could only go downhill. Popped in Rick Stein Marlborough and had complimentary pate and glorious olives and the best rib eye of our lives at a fair price. Happy days.

Came here on a Thursday evening with my partner and son. The food and service was exceptional. I had the lamb rump and it was cooked to perfection. My partner had the pie and wow that was excellent. The gravy is lovely although slightly a tad bit too salty so try before u add. My son had some awesome tasty sausages which he totally loved. The staff was very welcoming and professional. I will definitely be back be to try more of the menu.

We visited for our works Christmas lunch yesterday, all 27 of us! The food was delicious, al hot, fresh and tasty. Service was fantastic, all of the orders correct and staff really friendly. Really impressed with everything, especially when serving 27 people in one go! We will be back next year!

4 of us had a wonderful meal at the White Hart. We all had something different & each of us stated that our food was fantastic. Full credit to the White Hart staff. Highly recommended.

Me and my partner stayed at the white hart for one night on Saturday 14th December, we had an excellent stay the room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable with soft fresh sheet's. We headed over to the pub for a meal in the evening which was absolutely delicious and the staff were attentive and friendly. The breakfast was tasty and cooked fresh to order the only think I would say is the waitresses/waiters need to concentrate on refilling as when we arrived for breakfast the milk was warm and there were no yogurt's or fruit apart from that we would highly recommend a stay here. We will certainly be back next year ☺

I have been a few times and generally they are great with friendly staff. There was an issue where the chef insisted that he had cooked the steak to my requirements (rare) even though there was no pinkness to it at all!

Once again we have had our family Christmas get together ( around 30 of use ) in this excellent pub, the carvery is always excellent and very reasonable, also today couldn’t fault the service, we will be back.

One of the worst meals we've ever had. £24 for an unchewable steak and 5 chips. Lasagne was more cheese than anything else 1 sheet of pasta. Informed waitress all she said was she would tell the chef. Would not return.

Booked in for Friday October 25th for a one night stay. We were really surprised at how lovely our room was especially given the reasonable price we had paid. It was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. Tea & coffee available in the room. The breakfast room was nicely laid out with a good choice of continental breakfast items as well as the selection of cooked breakfast items from the menu.

Terrible service! 6 of us went for lunch, first meal came out before we had even finished paying at the bar, the other 5 meals came out 40 minutes later! No check backs, no apology, no customer service of any level. Will not be back, staff seemed stressed and overstretched. Not good enough. Food was average at best too.

Stayed overnight and ate in the pub restaurant. The bar had a small, but good range of beers and ciders and the menu was fairly extensive, although very much 'pub grub' style, although pizzas were also available. We didn't have starters but went straight in to the mains and the ground rump burger was tasty enough and cooked well, the pea and mint risotto was also good. Service was friendly and attentive and there wasn't a long wait for either dish. The wine - an Italian Pinot Grigio - was also crisp and refreshing as well as being reasonably priced. Overall a good value evening meal, served by friendly and helpful staff.

OMG I just had the best lamb dish ever, at this place. It was delicious. Everything on my plate was perfectly cooked which consisted of the lamb rump, carrots, green beans and potato dauphinois.

We had a family birthday meal for my 70th, 9 meals in total. All the starters and meals were Ok except the Sirloin Steaks, one was rare and two medium. All the steaks were not as tender as they could have been, other than that a great meal as usual.

Having visited cinema at Greenbridge, and not wanting to eat at any of the places there, we chose the White Hart and a really good choice it was. Good food, my partner had lamb shank and I had sausage & mash, both were piping hot and really tasty. We didn't book, it was a Thursday, but I would recommend booking at weekends as it was busy.

Stayed at this hotel recently as we were visiting Swindon for a few days. The hotel is just on the outskirts of Swindon but only a very short drive into the main town.

Myself, my wife & 4 year old son arrived at 17:00 enroute home after visiting family in search of a nice pub that served food.

We stayed here as the place we were trying to get to was inaccessible due to very snowy weather. Despite not having booked, we were given a warm welcome and shown to a very neat and comfortable room in the separate accommodation block. Returning to the pub in the late afternoon to watch the rugby we were again welcomed warmly and shown to a table with a good view of the screen and served drinks at the table (very unexpected). After the game we had a very pleasant pub meal and retired for a good nights sleep. Unexpected and very pleasant stay!

Lots of parking, delicious yorkshire puddings and good vegetarian pies. Friendly staff. Will definitely go back.

Lovely Saturday lunch time meal. We love to always try some where new. Staff very friendly and the atmosphere was nice. Food great value for the portion size and very yummy.

A friendly atmosphere and excellent service, a good selection of beers, wines and spirits to go with a very comprehensive menu. We arrived at 07.30pm for our booking at 08.00pm, we were shown to a table right away and the waitress took our order for drinks. She returned with our drinks and straightaway took the food order, the food arrived piping hot and was most delicious. The whole restaurant was very busy for a Wednesday evening so I would recommend booking your table well in advance.

My wife recently booked a function room at The White Hart Inn for a funeral wake and ordered the £10.50 per head Buffet option and tea & coffee for guests, which included my wife and one other with vegan dietary requirements. At the time of enquiring and booking, my wife expressly asked what the Vegan Buffet options would consist of and was advised that this would be plated up separately. She specifically mentioned that she would not be happy with salad in white bread sandwiches and was reassured, “oh no, chef will provide a proper plate of suitable Buffet food”. Unfortunately, on arrival at the venue, our hearts sank to see that salad in white bread sandwiches was exactly what was plated up, along with a few chips and a bowl of supermarket bought cous cous, for which my wife had to request spoons and cutlery from the bar in order to serve and eat - in addition to being unimaginative and lazy, it was certainly not worth the £21.00 that we were charged. We also had to request non dairy milk for the tea & coffee, which should have been automatically provided. The variety of hot buffet food provided for the rest of the guests was good, the venue is clean, warm and attractive with a lovely atmosphere and the staff are mostly helpful and friendly. It was just a shame that our visit to the White Hart was let down by the pubs inability to offer appealing free from options. Veganism has gone mainstream & many pubs, including well known chains, have upped their game. The White Hart prides itself on a history of quality home cooked pub food and this was one of the reasons that we booked it, but as we found out to our detriment, this particular pub needs to get a lot more creative in order to accommodate the dietary needs and preferences of everyone for whom they have been requested to cater.

I took my elderly mother for lunch and she does not have a big appetite. She just wanted mushroom soup and it said served with a 'crusty bread'. What came was a hard, stale piece of bread with no butter. She did not want me to complain as she rarely goes out and she did not want to upset the staff. We will not go back. There is nothing easier these days than buying rolls which can be baked to order. Shame on you White Hart, Swindon.

Stayed at the White Hart for one night and must say that we were impressed with the overall stay. Room was large and spotlessly clean, free WiFi and a great selection for breakfast. I had a full English breakfast, which was more than ample. My wife had poached eggs on toast, eggs poached perfectly. There were also pastries on offer. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, the menu had a good selection and the food presented was of a good standard. All in all we would highly recommend this establishment and would certainly stay here again.

Attended a club event in the function room. Ideal for groups of 40-60. Hot buffet was good and the separate bar in the room was ideal.

We did not fancy cooking so booked The White Hart for a meal on Boxing day, we ordered 2 fish and chips, 2 Brunch and a Scampi. All the meals were first class, tasty and hot. For a sweet, we had a Lemon Posset and a Crumble, both as before nice.

Booked for Sunday lunch which is solely carvery and is served up until 1800. The carvery itself is ok and costs £10.50, usual format. The desserts were however superb. I had the lemon posset and others had chocolate brownie and vanilla cheesecake. All delicious. The beer is Arkells and also good. You report to a reception type desk when arriving and also pay there when departing.Car park is big but a little tight and the pub is very busy on a Sunday.. I believe that accommodation is also available.

Superb hotel. Room excellent and the large bed really comfortable. Room immaculate.

Called in as it was 3o'clock, we were passing and hungry. It's a carvary, which sums it up really. Fairly standard, beef-turkey-gammon on offer. Turkey and gammon looked ok, but the beef was on the very well done side with just a trace of pink in the middle.

We booked 1 night here in order to visit the Theatre in Swindon. The pictures from booking.com made it look as if it was set in beautiful countryside, it turns out it is not and very close to the main road. However we could not fault it! Inside the pub was beautiful decorated and the staff extremely welcoming and friendly. The lady I believe to be the manager/supervisor Jodie? Was superb! Really engaging, thoughtful and incredibly hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble for her, booking a taxi for us, letting us know when it was arriving, recommending drinks and knowledgeable about the food. The menu selection was great, and really very good. They catered very well for someone with a dairy intolerance as normally it’s very difficult to find tasty menu choices.

We stayed here for 1 night on Saturday and for the price we paid we were pleased. The room was lovely and modern, clean, spacious and bed was comfy. Bathroom - lovely. Staff were friendly and welcoming with a good service. We had evening meal and breakfast and we enjoyed both :) would recommend for the price.. couldn’t ask for more really. We will be back - thanks!

We booked a night at the White Hart Swindon, en-route to the West Country, primarily because it was close to our route and very reasonably priced.

I needed some food in a pinch and this place was open and well reviewed.

We ordered a fish pie £12.95 and chargrilled chicken breast £11 ,both arrived quite quickly. They both tasted realy nice and cooked to perfection , although a little expensive I thought the meals were worth the cost .
