I had 2 cappuccinos in the terrace, brought to me by a very polite man. Later when my wife joined me we, in Carries Bar she had spaghetti and I had stir-fry. Nice food and good service, only would have preferred them to be brought at the same time. Staff worked hard and food was of great value. Will come again. Michael and Tracy

Nice hotel and Christmas meal. Staff were a bit rude and unhelpful. Drinks were a bit on the pricey side. All in all a nice evening ☺️

Poor for a 4 Star hotel. Main issue this Bar/ Dining area in this lovely Hotel we have used frequently but in the past. Does not allow customers to operate a table tab. Consequently we (4) had to get up and order our drinks and food separately. Each time we wanted a drink and as our Starters were on seperate order they came out at different times. Not much but it shouldn't happen at all. When I asked the Bar Manager why they didn't allow tabs, he couldn't really tell me, so I asked if it was because we might run away without paying, he actually said yes. The Food. My wife is convinced her Scampi was not real but a mashed fish concoction. The rest was OK but certainly had better in local pubs and paid a lot less. I used to love going to their Silver Service restaurant and casually the Carvery. Just Something Missing Now!!!!

We went here to experience a luxury afternoon tea as we have been to many other places and thought we would give this one a go. We arrived and was shown to our seats which was in Carrie's and we were sat in an area over looking the swimming pool. The food and service was acceptable, however we both didn't expect to be bombarded by children running around and shouting as they had finished a swimming session for nearly an hour. None of the parents seemed to have any control or purchased anything from Carrie's, they just sat and let the children run wild. Annoying none of the staff said anything to the parents either, they just watched. In our opinion we should have been sat in a more quiet area, as this was supposed to be a luxury experience which unfortunately, it was anything but...... The manager Eduardo Cury did come over and asked if everything was OK towards the end of the afternoon tea, when we told him our feelings he did offer to move us, which was pretty pointless as we had nearly finished. We did speak to reception when we were leaving who agreed it was not acceptable and Eduardo then took us off to try and resolve the issue. He gave us his email address and said if we book again he will give us a complimentary glass of procecco if we give them another chance. I did say I would have expected a complentary tea, so they could have another go at the luxury experience they are advertising and we were expecting, but he was unable to do that. All in all a very disappointing experience and the resolution was not great either.

Me and my wife had afternoon tea here, looking online the menu states £14.95pp however when we was seated we was charged before even receiving a drink and we was charge £17.50pp. When you walk out of carries bar there was a poster stating ‘afternoon tea £14.95’? Even though it’s only a couple of quid it more principle and is actually quite naughty. Upon calling the hotel too book the afternoon tea we also was not asked about sandwich choices so we did not eat the ones we did not like or questioned upping food allergies?

Think quality was poor due to poorly prepared sandwiches which were dry and some still had crusts attached. Scones were very small and don't appear homemade also dry and no cream served. Overall very disappointed

Visited yesterday for high tea. Very good value for money, scones were warm and delicious. Girls that served us were really nice and couldn’t do enough for us. Really good value for money. Only gripe was the metal seats outside had cushions that didn’t fit which mean the seats were very uncomfortable. I will definitely returning in the not so distant future to try a roast dinner or evening meal.

The burgers were really tasty and well cooked. The chunky chips were also great. My husband had Fish and chips which was very nice but the cod was quite small. Our grandson had pizza which enjoyed. The desserts were very good as well. The only strange thing is there was a wedding going on in a function room but while they were getting the room ready for the evening all the guests came in to the bar and it was manic for over an hour. I asked if there was another bar we could go to but the barman said no (although 3 bars are advertised).

Four us went for an evening meal (two children), plenty to choose from, we settled on a range of tasty starters shared between us all, the starters were all good portion sizes. Kids menu was OK too. It's not cheap but it is tasty. Good selection of ales, lagers and wines. Very spacious bar area with plenty of seating both inside and out (outside area is down steps and a bit disconnected from the bar but the staff are often around to take orders etc ). Handful of kiddie activities (pool table, table football, old school table top arcade game etc) as well as an outdoor play area. Staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. Went back the following night and we shared the Tomahawk steak, the kids had the pizza. Great food again.

Very disappointed after our visit yesterday. Very limited menu and a 45 minute wait for food was unacceptable. The food, when it eventually arrived, was ok, although my husband enjoyed his Caesar salad. We always enjoyed eating a carvery in the Flame restaurant at lunch times in the past and it's such a shame that it's been discontinued.

Good coffee today thanks, but only downside was the barman was on his own at mid-day dealing with making lots of orders and it meant I'd to stand waiting to order for about 10 minutes! He needed help. However when it came the coffee was hot and good.☕

The basics are there - good size bar and plenty of seating. The problem for us was the food available. In a bar, people want ordinary pub bar food. Nothing fancy. During the day, don’t bother going in there. It’s full of young women attending the Leisure Centre along with their unruly offspring. It’s the one thing which will prevent a return visit for us!

Went here for the first time for afternoon tea! Never again! Service was poor and the food was horrendous for the price! £15 per person to share a 3 tier plates of overpriced food which would have cost pittance! Plate one sandwiches if that’s what you would call them! The bread was hard, fillings of salmon, cheese, ham, and just cucumber was tasteless. Plate 2 stale cakes and near dead strawberries (squishy or rock solid). Plate 3 2 scones, warm but gloopy, one pot of clotted cream so hope you didn’t want to cover the scones with cream and 2 pots of jam probably the most expensive out of it all! And pots of tea probably the only thing that tasted nice once it was arrived after the event of being given the after noon tea so had nothing to wash the taste down with!! Definately would not recommend or be going back! Could have paid for a nice filling slap up meal for the price of the stale food we were served.

Food was good, drink was nice, people and service was friendly and quite efficient ... but the music was a strange choice. Bearing in mind the clientele was of an older generation and it was late at night, the music must have been for the staff's benefit - young pop and hip-hop and too loud. However, when asked, they did turn it down and apologised.

We called in on Father's day for a light lunch when sadly it was very busy ands noisy with many children running around without parental supervision. The staff were trying hard to cope and service was prompt. The prices are higher than in an ordinary pub but this is to be expected in an hotel.

Ordered two cappuccinos with oat milk, took 15mins to then have to be remade as made with normal milk. Coffee was then served luke warm but after then reading previous reviews, didn't want to mention it as I didn't want to get verbally abused by the manager. First and last visit!

We fancied a change from the hotel restaurant and the menu the Freke Arms offered had plenty of gluten-free options as well. We booked and received a message back quickly confirming the booking. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table promptly. Menu options were explained clearly and there were several specials on offer. The food we received was plentiful and very tasty indeed and the beer and wine were delicious. All the staff were friendly and we had a good chat about the pub as it had a bit of history. Karen and her staff went above and beyond and the service we received was first class. If we are ever in the area again we would certainly stop by the Freke Arms for a meal.
